Esteban BOIS VELOURS is less creamy than I was expecting, given the name, but it is pleasing nonetheless. The nutmeg really sings through this smooth composition, asserting itself much more loudly than the leather or patchouli and rendering the experience truly a woody spicy one.
BOIS VELOURS is suitable for women and men alike, primarily because the only thing very masculine about it at all is the nutmeg, which is not however mingling with aromatics or citrus as in characteristically masculine creations. The sandalwood is the most dominant wood note here, but it is not at all overwhelming, and I’d be quite happy to wear this again–or to smell it on someone else!

And now for a marginally relevant word about cannabis, which I do not actually detect in this composition, although I often think that I smell it in neroli-rich creations, and I expect to smell it more and more–indeed, all over the place–in the not-too-distant future.
What is the basis of this prediction? you may ask. Well, according to an adage of folk wisdom, “As California goes, so the nation goes.” And thanks to globalization it’s also true that “As the (U.S.) nation goes, so the world goes…”
For those who have yet to hear the news, California recently decriminalized possession to the level of a mere traffic ticket! Was this a celebration of liberty, the bold reassertion of a moral stance grounded in the vision of our forefathers? No. They just couldn’t afford the litigation made possible by calling possession a genuine crime. So now no one gets to take their possession case to court anymore!
Of course cannabis in all its forms should be legal anyway, so here we have a rare case where a state’s economic exigencies have produced an unexpectedly progressive effect!

At the official site it is listed as unisex, not men’s.
I am just disturbed about the canabis, ha-ha!
