Description

The fashion house of Givenchy presents a new exclusive collection called L’ Atelier de Givenchy, which contains seven fine fragrances made from rich raw ingredients that evoke the Givenchy fashion creations and materials. Each fragrance is accompanied by a special fashion sketch. The scents are: Ambre Tigré, Bois Martial, Cuir Blanc, Chypre Caresse, Néroli Originel, Oud Flamboyant and Ylang Austral.

Bois Martial evokes an ultra – structured, architectural patterns of androgynous style. The fragrance is building on a wood seldom used in perfumery: coconut wood. There are also accords of pineapple sage and cedar.

The fragrances are available as 100 ml Eau de Parfum .

Bois Martial was launched in 2014.

    Cedar is different to cypress.
This has nothing in common with Gucci by Gucci pour homme

Bois Martial is a nice woody fragrance and wearable year round. It has a touch of acidic sweetness (not from strong and “genuinely” fresh pineapple would smell like) and creamy cedar (probably coconut helped out here to give the wood that vibe). If you try to detect any single one of those note from this one, I think it would be kinda hard to do so. I personally was surprised when looking back at the cheat sheet after testing this fragrance. I did not think that coconut and pineapple were present in here. But it is what it is.
If you like a simple, feminine, gently warm and smooth cedar wood, give this one a test. It smells expensive and has great sillage and lasting power. Just one tiny little thing: not quite sure if I would myself pay that much for a bottle. I think I would expect more out of it in scent.

Starts out sweet and citrusy then dries down to light cedar. Coconut never enters my mind. Does not last long. I shared an office with a woman who was shocked to find out that I had been wearing cologne for all these months. For the price…. its not worth it.
I much prefer Cuir Blanc in the L’Atelier line.

The whole line is pleasant, mild versatile but not exciting.
That said after having tried them all at a distance of time I decided to buy Bois Martial. This is good for office.
Mascolino, more summery and diurnal with a modern and clean talcato that looks like just bought tailoring garments.
It is a static but well-made arrangement and not all notes are easily distinguishable except for ceder and sweet pineapple, maybe cassis…
The ingredients are of good quality and I can feel the drydown even after a shower.
As with all eau de parfum, I recommend shaking the bottle and pulling the trigger all the way down to ensure a proportionate mixing with the right balance of the ingredients.
Try from the bottle or a trusted decant.

The blame lies with whoever listed the fragrance note photos above.
    Actual notes are:
    Pineapple Sage
    Coconut Wood
    Cedar Wood
There is no Pineapple, there is no Coconut and there is no spoon.

People complaining that there is no coconut or pineapple, nobody has ever said that there is coconut or pineapple in this…

This was a blind buy for me as I love pineapple, and coconut. This fragrance is ALL CEDER! Very dry Woody Ceder. No Pineapple, and No Coconut. This fragrance wears very close to the skin within 15-20min. Definitely not worth the asking price. I struggle to find an occasion to wear this. Maybe to layer??? 4/10

Semi smokey cedar, generic fruity pineapple, no real coconut, poor longevity, nice bottle, overpriced. What is with all of these designer houses trying to release these “haute” exclusive lines to their collections?? They tend to be minimalistic and super overpriced but emphasize “rare” ingredients”, “parfum concentration”, and ability to mix but in reality they are lackluster attempts at luxury…sad try harder!

My favourite out of the whole collection / I think I’ll get this one

It is quite weak and does not stay for long. Still getting a hang of it. Nice for a change though and quite different. Night perfume for a quite evening with a loved one. Just dinner etc.

it is like tom ford neroli. fantastic scent, expensive but doesn’t stay on body.

Totally underwhelming. Sharp, synthetic cedar and an indistinct tangy fruit. Zero coconut. Gone after an hour on my skin.

Extraordinary fragrance, quite strange at the beginning, but very nice a bit later, delicate, ladylike, graceful. Surely far from typical mainstream fragrances.
