Photogenchick: I came here to review this fragrance that I recently acquired second-hand (the original formulation). I wanted to say that it reminds me of Exclamation; it took me a while to realize that was what it reminded me of. And here I see that you had already made that connection.

I have the latest production of Body Mind & Spirit, in the silver-toned round cap and Tova-printed black bow. This latest formulation is much more wearable on me because it’s softer. I notice gently wafting notes of Apricot, Osmanthus, Rose and Amber(the powdery essence). This is the only fruit predominant scent I’ve had that is not sweet but instead refreshing, ‘dry’, calming and aromatic.
BM&S was Tova Borgnine’s second fragrance in her line back in the early 1990s. And, it originally was much stronger, even overwhelming and slightly bitter back then.
When Tova first came on QVC to sell her scents, skin care and makeup, I remember her sales pitch regaling how BM&S “went to Yale” because it was a part of a conference on scents affecting mood and she (Tova) was the presenter. I can imagine Chanel-clad glamour gal Tova rocking the hallowed halls of Yale!
Tova also would say she named BM&S after the romantic song from Rogers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific: Some Enchanted Evening. For that song though, I always thought original musk-bomb Tova Signature would be what Ensign Nellie Forbush would wear. 😉

A straight-up, mid-range blend of Lancôme Tresor and Coty Exclamation. I have a vintage late 90s bottle of B, M, & Spirit, just sprayed. It’s immediately catapulted me back into 1988 when I’m 14 & walking in a Phar-Mor with my mom. (now-defunct Walmart-size drugstore/chemist) There sits Exclamation on the shelf, my drugstore scent fave, right next to Bonnie Bell Skin Musk and Coty’s Aspen for women. Pretty soon they will all be replaced by a Guerlain sitting amidst them, Shalimar eau de cologne. Shalimar will be replaced by the time I’m 16 when Dior’s Poison becomes my ride or die.
Sorry, got distracted. Back to Body, Mind & Spirit. Tova makes sure to mention on her website and every single QVC appearance that Sophia Grojsman is the nose behind this fragrance. One inhale of B,M, & Spirit and there’s no doubt that the nose behind Tresor & Exclamation, SG, is also behind Tova’s. This one isn’t as loud as Exclamation, not as oakmossy-powdery as Tresor, and I say all the better for it. Beautiful apricot & heliotrope, over a bed of super-subtle spice, without the oakmoss migraine. Winning.

I traded some new skin care products that i had extra in stock for this perfume from my neighbor.
It appears i have the newest bottle version as shown above. I smell no sign of rancidity.
It is the strongest apricot note i have ever come across. It truly reminds me of dried apricot laced with vanilla creme and a hint of vine. I’ve never smelled a fresh apricot so not sure how a freshly sliced one smells like. I think this combination with the heliotrope creates a lotiony or salon sort of scent that some people find odd or like.
I like it. The lily of the valley & heliotrope makes this scent feel springy. Would be appropriate for summer too. Moderate projection with up to 8 hours. A cute fruity-powdery floral. Lovely sleek & tall bottle design.
Due to having mostly large size bottles in my collection, i decanted my large bottle to make my own mini and will be finding a new home for this beauty.

I found this perfume to be so unique and different from the others in the Discovery set (Nights,Signature, Signature Platinum and Body Mind and Spirit). It is a bit more floral than the rest and I smell vanilla coming out but I don’t see that it is part of the notes in this perfume. I don’t smell perming lotion at all just lovely florals and vanilla. The best thing I think of with the Tova perfumes is that the yucky alcohol blast is just not there upon first spritz. You can just tell that this perfume was mixed properly and you are receiving the actual Eau De Parfum.
    (a few months later…)
Added thoughts: I crave this perfume for it’s gentle quality and, what I have discovered, heliotrope + osmanthus. I need it! It makes me so happy. Lancome has a perfume that is so close to this but can not touch it for the quality of Body Mind and Spirit is so perfect and soft and just wonderful! Plus, Lancome gives me headaches every single time. Well, I thought at first I just “liked” this but no, I love it and must have it!!!

very late 80s gourmand. overwhelming and powdery, dated.

I was gifted the last half inch of this by someone – again from the set of three in the bell-shaped bottles.
I know what you mean about the perming lotion smell, but I think it is because mine has been stored badly (out on a dressing table in sunlight) so it has spoiled.
Such a pity. I can tell the unspoiled juice was nice, but not special enough for me to hunt down a new, unspoiled bottle. I have similar fragrances already – Sun Moon and Stars comes to mind.

Whoa! Something’s gone badly wrong with this one! I don’t know if it’s just my bottle (one of a set of 3, other 2 fine) or if it’s meant to be like this:
Apricot, violet and .. perming lotion?
I’m trying to think exactly what that last element is but it’s something extremely noxious and chemical. I suspect it’s some kind of synthetic apricot thing.
It’s VERY strong – I think that’s why it brings the hair salon to mind.
I applied it to the palm of my hand, promptly washed my hand and the smell is still there, just as strong, argh!
I think this would be a really nice fragrance if it was ‘just the smell’ but this ‘high’, fizzy, hair salon suprasmell just kind of leaps out over the notes and the overall smell and attacks you!
I can’t keep this. Shame, the other 2 – Signature and Tova Nights are in turn, nice/wearable and absolutely gorgeous.

Too floral at first, but dry-down is nice and powdery. But doesn’t last. Tried it this evening but going to try again tomorrow morning after my shower and see how it works for the day. I like it, though. I find that the fragrances that don’t last are good for the evening just hanging out at home then going to bed.

After years I just re-tried it and was careful, because some said that the formulation has changed. I can’t say it changed to the worse. I still recognize the perfume I liked. It hasn’t changed much. Maybe it’s a bit more minty at the beginning. But the good thing: the lasting power is much much better now! 🙂

I wore this fragrance exclusively for at least 3 years in the 1990’s. Everytime I arrived in the breakroom one of my coworkers would shout ” who smells like a Spring garden”? For old times sake I ordered a large bottle so I could wear it to my wedding in 2004 just before Tova sold her company to QVC and the bottles and juice were changed.

This was for some time my favourite. It’s very uplifting. I like peach and roses and you find both strongly in this. It’s a pleasant soft and flowery peach scent. Unfortunately the lasting power is not so great since it is a rather light scent. Maybe around 3 hours. “Body mind spirit” is a well chosen name for this.
