I really enjoyed the benzoin note in Pi and one of my friends suggested Kouros Body if I liked Pi. I’m pretty picky and usually I absolutely hate a fragrance until I either find it’s good qualities and it wins me over or I just continue to hate it. I was very worried about this one initially. It doesn’t give the best initial impression. Goes on harsh. I was going to give up on it as I smelled my wrists 10 minutes later and it was still harsh but I kept getting the occasional whiff of something great. Sure enough, after dry down and once it settled in (20 minutes) it smells awesome. That warm, somewhat sweet benzoin smell dominates and reminds me of Pi’s benzoin. Definitely, definitely not Pi but just similar in that particular note. Final verdict is…I love it! Not only that but I only sprayed twice and it has pretty good projection. Glad I added this one. It is just so warm and comfortable. Very few fragrances I’ve worn have given me that “OMG, everybody come over here and smell how good I smell!” reaction. After 20 minutes, this did just that. Out of nowhere this turned incredible. My dog was the only “person” that smelled me and didn’t give a crap. Oh well.
I read below it may be discontinued??? I’ll need to stock up as this one has entered my top ten (five?) and I don’t want to be without it. Actually , can’t be top five due to that opening but it’s top ten. I’m a fan of vanilla, benzoin, and styrax fragrances and this has a big checkmark by benzoin.
Finally, I think this is a love it or hate it type fragrance. That opening leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve found eucalyptus is often a very strange dance partner in fragrances and can play nice or just be devilish. I could also easily see where it could go wrong with incompatible chemistry or if benzoin isn’t your thing. Luckily, it plays well with me.

Scentwise, this flanker has nothing to do with the original Kouros, but I really like the smell, a lovely sweetish oriental licorice with hints of menthol. Kind of gourmandish, but not overly sweet.
It’s not surprising that the nose behind this is Annick Menardo, as there are quite some similarities to her creation of Lempicka au Masculin as well. The mix of anise, cinnamon and creamy eucalyptus actually blend together quite well and end out in a drydown of amber, musk and benzoin oil that’s quite nice.
Surprised to see many mentioning it as a strong fragrance, as the projection of my 2011 bottle is quite weak – unless I overspray with 6-8 sprays, after about two hours it has turned into a skin scent that even I can hardly smell. The sprayer is also really bad IMO, no mist but just a single direct shot which then dribbles down your skin.
Strange thing is, quite a few of my female friends and colleagues have commented on this scent and how great it is…. weird stuff really.

    This is so good.
Smooth, lightly sweet, almost Violet accord.
Quite a bit of depth for it’s limited Note’s, surprisingly no volatility from the Eucalyptus.
Very finely blended, beautiful and mysterious.
    It has to be classic.

Starting with Au Masculin, I have developed a great love for Annick Menardo’s creations. This has brought me to Body Kouros and it does not disappoint. A nice herbal, benzoin and eucalyptus fragrance. It’s warm, sensual and mysterious with a hint of sweetness. I am enjoying BK more and more as I wear it.
Performance is good with moderate projection and good longevity. A great fragrance!

Body Kouros can make you fall in love or hate it badly , for me I love it and love to see it on my shelf collection to be the choice in every day. The main reason why a man wearing sweet fragrance is a girl! We love to be notice with a girl we interesting in, and Body Kouros knows that. Body Kouros is a kind of alluring fragrance and works every time I want it, the girls notice it and love to checking what I smelling like and get closer to my chest to smelling the fragrance. This is fragrance for the night time only (Doesn’t works so well on daytime) applying 6-9 sprays on neck, chest and shoulders that’s it! I love many alluring fragrance such as Chanel Allure Homme Sport Extreme, Le Male and Rochas Man but I have to say that Body Kouros is the best working on me! I love it, all the girls love it on me too. In case you have a bad experience with original Kouros , please know that the scent is different! This is kin of modern sweetness and more relaxing than original. I have experienced with 3-4 girls because of this fragrance they want to smell me closer and ..”you know what I mean;)”

Body Kouros is like peace and tranquility. Try visualizing a resort in the middle of an island sorrounded by lush green trees and vegetation with coconut trees and backwaters.Yes visualize Kerala. You go to a spa and you are sorrounded by incense and mint oils reminiscent of Eucalyptus oil.
    Everywhere there is peace.
I agree with @Knows2nose that it reminds of Spa but blended beautifully to smell delicious.Very different from other perfumes. Its a simple composition but still smells fantastic. I have the vintage bottle with great longevity and moderate projection.
Its a beautiful smooth composition and not surprisingly ladies love it.
One of the most alluring YSL composition.
    Peace in a bottle.

I already my voiced my love for this one. But I’ll also add that it is somewhat reminiscent of body massage oil, so yes it’s very soothing and comforting. Kinda like someone who just stepped out of a professional massage parlor. I’ll also add that this is similar to Burberry touch. This one is deeper and more mysterious, where touch is more ozonic and safe.

Ive given this a first full wear. While the original Kouros is masterfully bold and complex, Body Kouros achieves being as far from the boldness of the original as a flanker can be while mastering the arts of limpness and flatness. While I knew this was going to be nothing like the original Kouros, I cannot be more disappointed with the outcome of the fragrance. On my skin I am left with a limp, waxy/fatty/oily vanilla with no further complexity or evolution besides getting weaker and weaker with time. If one is to release a vanilla with Eucalyptus and herbs, at least either make the notes more distinct and yield an evolution OR blend them in a way to yield complexity. Sorry YSL, but Body Kouros is a mere “ok” in my books. I will be wearing Chergui or Pardon or The Dreamer in the situations I would feel inclined to apply Body Kouros.
P.S.: This is based on a bottle from the old-style packaging.

I bought this after really getting into the creations of Annick Menardo while simultaneously starting to court the idea of buying a bottle of the original Kouros. I figured I couldn’t go wrong but after a few tries I felt like it was just money wasted. Now even the person I traded it to wants to get rid of it.
Body Kouros reminds me marshmallows and liquorice bubblegum. It is a polite and inoffensive scent to a self apologizing fault, excusing itself out of the room after barely introducing itself. It reminds me of Bvlgari black and Lempicka au masculin with just about every interesting and characterful facet rounded up to emit just a hint of powder and herbal smokiness on a bare benzoin base.
Only entertainment value this perfume gives me is typing “sexy” in the search box on this page and seeing how many results praising the scents eroticism I hit in total disbelief. Wow. I never would have guessed.

Sweet very sweet … sweet and mixed with notes of eucalyptus and benjoin, for cold days or nights is excellent, 12 hour projection, very strong, very sexy, great praise. (Vintage Version)

There’s no point in me telling you what does it smell like – it’s what notes says it is – incense, sweet benzoin and eucalyptus. Instead let me tell you how it FEELS to smell it. There’s something inheritly sexy about this fragrance. I know what it will sound like, but hear me out anyway – it’s like breathing in a hot wave of steam coming from a human body bending in pleasure. Like breathing in pheromones. “Body” is not an usual name for a flanker, and I really think there’s a reason that this is a “Body Kouros”, not a “Kouros Sport” or “Kouros Night”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not musky or wierd, in fact it’s even a bit fresh, but there is something “bodily” in it, something maybe even animalic, that I can’t describe. People say it has no resemblence to Kouros, and while I agree that both are completly different smellwise, they have something in common – that “dirtiness” or “kinkiness”. Both are conventionally pleasant(well original Kouros can seem dated), and when you dig in them deeper, the smell becomes sexual. Sexy, yes, but also sexual. Like they have some kind of aphrodisiac in them. I’m really glad I found out this gem, coz it is kinda forgotten. I consider it one of the best YSL fragrances ever, up there with M7 and Rive Gauche.

This scent is perfect for everyday wear.
It’s easy on the nose, lasts all day, and isn’t too overwhelming.
Whilst it’s more gentle than most men’s frangrances, it’s still a winner with the office.
People love the vanilla powder touch, especially during Winter and Spring.
I get compliments all the time. Highly recommended.

I’m not sure why the comparisons to Armand Basi Homme (the bottle that’s half black / half frosted glass) have all been voted down, but I own both and have done several comparisons, the two are essentially the same scent (easily within 90-95%).
If you can’t find one, the other will certainly do.

I had a long and very pleasant conversation with a stunningly gorgeous YSL manager at a boutique here in Australia and apparently this is being discontinued. If it happens to be your signature of it’s a scent you just happen to like you may want to stockpile a few bottles in the not too distant future.

I can hardly forgive myself for never trying this masterpiece…
It was a Friday evening when I decided to pay a visit to a perfume store, to sample some perfumes, mainly to revisit some older releases and give a second chance to some recent ones.
After a test of Burberry London (which I still don’t like), the Bottega Veneta line (which I find really bad) and the La Nuit De L’Homme (which is nice, but that’s all, just nice) there it was… placed really low on the selves of the YSL section, with a minimum stock of 2 boxes of new 100ml bottles, quite forgotten by most, waiting for me to give it a try.
I don’t know how this one has slipped out of my attention, I am a perfume enthusiastic since 1998, testing nearly all of the major releases – I had tried the original Kouros which I don’t like at all – I get the hype but I can’t stand it on me – so I guess everything related to it meant a waste of time for my olfactive experience.
So I gave a spray on a piece of paper, placed it under my nose and … BOOM! That was it. The BOOM effect that had happened only 10 times all these years, it is a really rare experience if you have in mind that – as I have already mention – I test nearly all of the major releases through those 20 years of fragrance hunting… and I can name those 10 times one by one!
I immediately knew that this was going to be mine, so I sprayed it on me 2 times and gave it 10 seconds to dry a bit… and then I was sure that this was a MASTERPIECE that had to be mine. Just 5 minutes later I placed an online order and today I am holding my new bottle of Body Kouros in my hands!
I don’t love the bottle much, nor its box BUT the juice is just AMAZING. It feels like a lovechild of Le Male and Bvlgari Black, which I both own BUT it is quite different from both, so it makes sense having it. What truly makes me go crazy in love with this one is the fact that while being gourmand and sweet, it is super masculine, slightly 80s retro and it has style! Could easily be the JPG Ultra Male release as this one is so much more masculine that the real Ultra Male (I don’t really believe that perfumes have gender but inevitably some scents tends us to think of women or men when we smell them).
Longevity is close to 6 hours, silage is moderate and isn’t getting bigger with more sprays, you should be careful not to overspray this one, it starts cloying if over applied. It is super cheap, even though it was priced at 83 euros as a retail price, I got it online for just 38 euros. I don’t know if this is going to be discontinued but the distribution right now seems limited.
So test it while this is available, if you love Le Male or Bvlgari Black you will be blown away.

So, where to start with Body Kouros. First off, I own a modern bottle, the one you can still find in discounter sites and beauty shops all over the world. No vintage edition needed, in my opinion.
This is a great scent. It’s fresh and warm at the same time, sensual, invigorating, pleasant. Some men can find it “old-school”, but women, oh women love it!
You will smell different than everybody else, refined and masculine. Women will want to get closer…
Performance: longevity is excellent, the fragrance sticks and stays there for 10 hours. Projection is decent, but not very good. It’s perfect for close encounters and for office. All season, except for very hot summer days.
    Spray and be happy!

This was a big let down for me. It is so dang sweet it makes me nauseous. The sweetness isn’t a vanilla bean sort of sweet but a chemically synthetic sweetener sort of smell. Does not smell natural at all. I don’t get any of the incense at all, instead I get full benzoin (the sweetness) with tad bit of that cooling eucalyptus in the background. It is a very linear scent. I can imagine this being the 1 million of the early 2000s, it definitely reminds me of that time. I smelled a 2017 formulation and the performance was nothing to be excited for. I got 5-6 hours with about an hour of projection. There are many better options for the price. I also have heard that this cologne might be discontinued soon so maybe it will have a cult following one of these days.

This one is closer to kouros silver than kouros, and in my opinion both silver and body should have been grouped together under a different name, just not kouros.
It’s sweet, with some freshness from eucalyptus. I really like the idea of mixing eucalyptus in scents but there’s something missing as a whole in this perfume.

  21. :

    3 out of 5

Yes, this is geared for men, but as a chick, I dig this and will definitely wear this. So, it is not too overly masculine. I actually do not pick up the smokiness here, perhaps if straining to sniff I might get a slight whiff. But this is to me/on me is more of a ‘clean’ fragrance, and not the typical ‘clean’ male fragrance. I can’t pick apart any notes. And although this is mainly clean, this is a comforting scent, too. There is a oh so slight sexiness about this, too. Not clobbering you over the head, let’s go clubbing and dancing til dawn overtly sexiness, but very subtle, and a little sweet; not overpowering at all. The sweetness is so subtle, it is almost not worth mentioning, but it is a little sweet, as well. No idea where the sweetness comes from, unless the notes are not all listed here, or they are off..would not be the first time, lol..
Anyway…..Got this on clearance at Kohl’s for a song and so far it is one of my happier fragrance purchases of the year. Good deal!! One final note, the sprayer to me is a little annoying, it looks like the older bottles had nicer/better sprayers. The design of the sprayer on mine makes it a little tricky to spay for my weak and bad wrists. Trivial, I know, but I wanted to mention it. Moderate sillage and moderate longevity.

i just bought a bottle today.
YSL Body Kouros is the perfect scent for me.
the sweetness of vanilla is very relaxing not to mention the cooling effect of eucalyptus.
i can literally spray it on my face.
the dry-down is very fantastic, too!
it stays on my skin for a good 7 hours.
it is an excellent close-encounter scent.
not offensive and very, very inviting.
it reminds me of Rochas Man but this one is much better.
    it’s lighter and more appealing.

  23. :

I would say this is the ultimate Barbara shop powder scent. It’s a very clean feeling powdery scent. It is powerful, last forever. This can be easily overly sprayed. Once you get to that 3rd spray you may run the risk headache zone. This is definitely different, and certainly smells nothing like original kouros which I own. Probably the longest lasting cologne I own. It lasted about 3 days on some wool suit pants I tested it on. I love the scent and performance.
Edit: after owning it for a while, there is dirty sexy vibe that comes to mind. There is a sense of the mingling of two colognes taking place. One is a man’s cologne and the other female. I imagine it’s what your shirt would smell like, if you wore it that night and then she slept in that shirt. But with the man’s scent clearly dominating . I’m not saying it has a unisex vibe here either.

In some ways… this reminds me of the grandfather of the new Tonka bean fragrances like: Eros, Code Profumo, Giv Play Intense.

Body Kouros, Kouros Body… who knows?
I thought I would love this fragrance based on the notes, so I ordered a 10 ml decant. I’ve hestitated to write a review because…
I don’t know what to make of this one. It doesn’t smell like a typical cologne (over 1600 votes on this and only one person thinks it reminds them of Lolita Lempicka, which is a stretch). The camphorous opening note is comforting, slightly medicinal, but warm with benzoin and incense. I really cannot detect any direct woodiness. If cedar is here, it’s in the background and easily overpowered. Many reviews say this is overly sweet, but sweetness in BK is very different than in, say, Ultra Male. It surrounds the wearer with a warm, mature, calming aura. Honestly, this smells more like a massage oil or something you’d encounter in a spa. It isn’t something I’d wear to work or even on an evening out. Probably best for casual wear, great for staying indoors at home on a cold day. Body Kouros gets points for uniqueness, that’s for sure. Otherwise, I can see how some would love this, and not others. Recent formulation performance isn’t great, sadly.

This is one is a hidden gem! Annick Menardo & YSL what a combination! incense and eucalyptus very masculine as well dark and mysterious, has not even a remote resemblance to the original Kouros by the way.
Great longevity and projection and awesome value, I like to wear this on summer nights makes feel like I’m the man, less common which is a plus in my book as I don’t want to smell like every other guy in the room, my signature scent!

  27. :

    5 out of 5

    Too much.
It’s brutally sweet, and strangely transparent.
Yeah, I can smell the woodsy-flowery tone really far away, but this alien sugariness just engulfs everything.
It’s not Syrupy / Caramel / Honey sweet. Lacks the density and body compared to those tones.
If – artificial sweeteners had a scent – then this would be it. And Body Kouros would be equivalent of being nose fed a spoonful by a 5 year old in halloween costume.
Makes A*Men feel so tame and grown up…
One of the worst 3 scents I have in my collection.

*This review is for the newer version. According to Check Fresh, my bottle was made in 2016.*
I was browsing at Kohl’s and saw this on clearance. I’d never heard of Kouros, nor do I ever wear men’s fragrance, but there was a tester and I thought it might work for my husband. I sprayed a little on my wrist and wow! Sweet, a little powdery, a little smoky… forget my husband, this one is MINE!
It’s cold and snowy right now where I live, so I’m still craving warm, cozy scents. While I don’t detect any spice or eucalyptus, I do get the incense and the benzoin, which makes it sweet enough that I don’t feel like I’m wearing a ‘mens’ fragrance. Someone else said it reminds them of Givenchy Pi, which I agree with, (I had an ex who bathed in Pi) although Body is much less sweet and cloying.
Body isn’t a beast as far as silage and longevity goes, at least not in this formulation. I feel like it sits close to the skin, which is fine with me…this is something I would wear when I just want to smell soft and sexy, not like any particular note or flower… just an overall ‘my skin but better’ kind of smell. Body also reminds me of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Twilight, (which I own but don’t wear much due to poor longevity) which is said to be her version of her personal blend of Comme des Garcons Avignon, Bonne Belle Skin Musk, and a street cart Egyptian musk. It’s very similar, in fact.
Overall, a soft, sexy, powdery, smoky-sweet scent sure to draw people closer… perfect for date night or bedtime, but tame enough for work or daytime as well. Definitely unisex.

Definitely not love at first sight for me. After while, I decided to give it a chance and bought 100 ml bottle. Now I can say I found my signature scent. Cannot believe I was overlooking this perfume for so long! The longer I use it, the more I love it. This never happened to me with other perfumes. It is wonderful, strong scent. It is warm and sweet, but in a different way than contemporary clubbing perfumes. It is creamy and relaxing at the same time (smokey vanilla mixed with eucalyptus). As someone here said – sexy introvert: sensual, dark, melancholic – this is exactly what this perfume is. It is strong, in the beginning very loud and overhelming. Yes, it is very linear, however more fascinating for me than other more complex perfumes which I tried. I see this on a man between 25-40 – any occasion, office / date / evening out. Definitely more autumn / winter / rainy season scent. It is not for everyone and there are not that many people who wear it. Thankfully – you can feel special. One of the most complimented perfumes I ever had. Happy to stay with this melancholic introvert for a while longer.

With great regret it’s a thumbs down from me. I’m the world’s biggest Kouros fan and this smells nothing like Kouros and should have an entirely different name – but that’s not the problem. It’s just too sickly sweet. The eucalyptus is overwhelming everything else. Unique, certainly. But when would you wear it? It’s not day or night, not summer or winter…. I’ve gone with Autumn, but even then I had to let it go. But longevity is excellent, can’t fault the quality of this juice, it’ll last all day. But who wants to smell like candyfloss and cough drops all day? Everyone will think you work in a fun fair…

Went to Kohl’s today (similar to a Target or TJ Maxx) and lo and behold there stood Body Kouros in its new reformulated bottle. I used to have the original version of BK and I loved it, but man o’ man was it powerful and heavy on the incense. Very thick and syrupy juice which made it great for winter.
Alright, so I tested the new BK and the DNA is the same as the original version, only not as loud as before. The biggest difference is probably less incense, perhaps that’s a good thing though. So I would have to say this is a slight reformulation and blends in more with today’s fragrances, though still keep in mind there’s still nothing quite like it. Actually incense has as been as popular as ever before (ie. Bleu De Chanel, Sauvage, Dylan Blue) so this version fits right in!
This fragrance is still very unique and has stood the test of time. Plus I even received a few compliments today (ok ok so one of them was from my fiancé) but I highly recommend this gem and will be back out to Kohl’s to purchase it tomorrow!

Smells exactly the same as my favorite soap. Very clean and fresh fragrance, but sadly very linear.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

    reformulated version:
Basically I prefer the sweet scents, but this one is too sweet, too heavy, and first 15-20 minutes is extremely loud. Not a bad one, but very overrated and very linear,.. The openig with the eucalyptus, incense and benzoin is not bad, but cloying, and too much. 10 minutes later the only thing what I get, a cotton candy sweet, creamy benzoin. This scent is a pure sweetness, nothing other. JPG Le Male is far better.
    – Fall/winter, night time scent
    – Sillage is good, longevity is around 6 hours
    – Try before buy
    Scent (open, top-mid): 6/10 (x2)
    Scent (drydown, base): 7/10 (x2)
    Sillage: 7/10
    Longevity: 6/10
    Uniqueness: 9/10
    Versatility: 6/10
    Total: 6.75/10

Not as smoky or incensy as it once was (I have several bottles to compare), but lovely unique, lasting, and well-complimented stuff it is. It’s pretty hard to compare it with anything. What you see is what you get. A smooth blend of eucalyptus, incense, benzoin, musk, and wood.
I usually see this being sold at discount joints with Opium Pour Homme for about $40-50 AUD, which is a bargain in Australia. You could do far worse, and most men do, for twice the price.

  35. :

I now see how myths are created by reformulation. I remember having a bottle of BK in about 2005 & remember thinking at the time how bad it performed. I bought the new design/formulation in 2013 as I still loved it and got it cheap – same issues though – poor sillage/projection. THEN I found fragrantica & having read the reviews on this I became convinced this scent had been ruined and was a great performer! Oh how I longed for that 2005 bottle.
Well – TODAY I found my 2005 bottle in a box and as I type am comparing them! Yes – 2005 v 2013 Body Kouros!
4 hours in I can confidently say that there is virtually NO DIFFERENCE at all between them and if anything – the 2013 version is STRONGER. They also smell literally the same – perhaps I get slightly more menthol from the older version but I am having to really search this out. Yes folks – they are the same. 2005 is not a beast at all – sillage is poor on both- always was!
BK does last long on the skin – so a good skin scent! And that is a shame as this is still lovely – there is some le male, some Lolita lempicka – but in truth, it is unique. There is nothing that smells like this. A great scent for a early 20-something. Young girls will love it. But me – I’ve moved on – got older. This doesn’t suit me anymore.
If anyone wants the 2005 bottle I am happy to sell it – looks as if there is 50% left of 100mls?

Everyone talks about how ysl reformulated la nuit but what they don’t realize is that it is not the first time ysl has ruined a top notch fragrance. Body Kouros was the club banger and panty dropper from what I heard before the lhomme and la nuit days. I never got to smell the vintage bottle but I own a bottle with the new designe and new juice. It is still a great fragrance in my opinion it reminds me of the blue dove for men bar soap. It is a descent and under rated cologne from the house. I think in 2017 in is way more wearable for day to day activities such as work and school on the cool fall and winter days. Definitely a good cheapie to include to your collection.

This is the most wonderful and my utmost favorite scent ever. While there have been more than a few occasions when people innocuously asked if I was applying medicinal oil, Body Kouros is my most frequent compliment-getter. I feel grateful that most people who I cherish and connect happen to love Body Kouros (on me) as well! This is a night scent, and my top choice for cold rainy nights. Don’t ever wear this on summer days, though.

One of the best and can’t believe that nobody talk about this. I hard to find reviews about it. This perfume reminds me JPG Le Male particularly “Superman” but this is the way more classy, sensesual and more manly than “Le Male”. It open with fresh eucalyptus and benzoin mixed with sweetness as background and continuous until base note. This fragrance scent has Le Male DNA but the way more naturally, less synthetic and more relaxing note without killing each other near you. When everyone wears 1 Million or Aqua Di Gio or Le Male this fragrance is outstanding and different.

This has an almost identical drydown to Burberry Touch. Touch is just a bit more fresh and floral, whereas Body Kouros is more sweet, resinous, and slightly medicinal. Both have a very similar powdery aspect. I personally think this is quite unisex. Only reason I’m hesitant to buy this is because it’s basically Bvlgari Black meets Burberry Touch, and I have both already, and I don’t like this quite as much as either of those. Really quality juice though.

There is something about this scent that I find exceptionally relaxing, comforting and appealing. I’ve got the newer bottle, so I assume I am working with the reformulation – but I can attest that if this is a weaker version of Body Kouros then the original must have been potent enough to fill an aircraft hangar., but more on that below
Much like YSL Opium, this scent is bafflingly unique and so beautifully blended that I am not nearly as impressed by specific notes as I am knocked over by the collective statement of the scent. Also like Opium (and original Kouros for that matter), this strikes me as sufficiently polarizing that I don’t know that I’d use this before facing mixed company.
There is vanilla sweetness, and there’s such a distinct light-touch musk that without the notes listed, I’d have sworn there was ambrette in it, but like I said the notes are so well blended that I have to assume this is the work of the incense notes – but you can’t be sure just from smelling it. There is also a mild earthiness and deliciously subtle spiciness, but again – what notes are doing that? Your guess is as good as mine.
Also (like Opium), I love… no LOVE this so much that I still tend to apply this at home, even (or perhaps especially) just for myself, when I’m the only one left awake and I’m watching a movie or reading a book on the couch. One of our dogs loves this on me so much it’s a true challenge to stop her from licking it off me wherever it’s been sprayed.
This is legitimately strong stuff – just two sprays and my wife, still in the next room, mind you (I’m not kidding) – will ask me what I’ve just applied.
I can’t tell you when to wear this, because in all honestly I still haven’t even come close to figuring that out – but based on the strength I’d say that cold weather is a pretty safe bet.
But for me, when I want to wrap myself in an exotic late-night fog of sweet, lightly musky glory I will reach for this in the spring/summer, and Opium for the same purpose in the fall/winter.
I also have to say that I’m not sure what relationship this bears with Kouros other than the name of the bottle. Perhaps this is what Kouros would be without the blast of civet, leather and aldehydes, and with resin replacing the florals and spice mixture – but at a certain point one must conclude that is is a Kouros flanker simply because so many people know the name of Kouros. By any name, I’d treasure this scent.

After arriving home, I could not wait to try my brother’s Body Kouros, which was lying on the coffee table.
Annick Menardo’s signature benzoin is evident and unmistakable (at times it reminds you of Jaïpur Homme due to the presence of such ingredient and its being created by the same perfumer) because it stands out from the rest of the notes: it feels like a spicy, sugar
