This fragrance is a true underrated gem for lovers of slightly gourmand, floral Woody musks. It does seem dependent on skin chemistry and your particular affinity for musk, so it may be safer to test if possible. When it works on you, it really is gorgeous.
Where else can you find something with coconut, iris, musk, walnut, champaca, and teak? For those of you who wanted Guerlain’s L’Instant Magic to be more creamy and less powdery, this could be the perfume for you. Because this fragrance manages to juggle creamy coconut and silvery iris and remain warm and musky. But the iris gives it a nice backbone to keep things interesting. And for those worried about the cedar perhaps making it too masculine, I wouldn’t worry. I am sensitive to that note myself and find it very pleasant in this composition.
This is extremely well made and high quality stuff, especially considering the price tag. It has made me very curious to try more from this line. From what I understand, this house encourages layering a la Jo Malone, so this may be a more affordable alternative for lovers of the layers. I do enjoy my Jo Malone, but those bottles can add up fast!
I wish this house were more accessible in the States, it is difficult to find retailers here.

Unfortunately, it IS not my Kind of smell 🙁
I have a 100 ml bottle to swap. Montréal, Québec, Canada région.

This is a very nice powdery musk with lipstick iris. The black currant comes off almost citrusy. It leans more feminine than unisex, in my opinion. However, it smells very similar to a few other perfumes I own / have owned.
Namely Kate Moss Vintage, and as someone else as voted, Kenzo Vintage (aka Peace).
Swap pile. What a bummer.

How I wish I had the same experiences as the other reviewers here. People use words such as “gorgeous”, “stunning”, “amazing”, “outstanding”. Sadly this was not my experience.
I hadn’t heard of this scent until it came up in a split thread topic, and as I was joining a different split decided to try this also. Why not, the reviews are all positive, the feedback good, the notes list appealed to me…I was excited to try it.
But alas! What alchemy occurs when this meets my skin? With great anticipation I sprayed this onto my wrist, closing my eyes to await the trumpeted fanfare of angels. Actually that isn’t strictly true, trumpets didn’t fit my vision based on others’ reviews, I envisaged maybe divine flutists, perhaps a cherubic piccolo, or an angelic harp.
Instead my nose wrinkled with displeasure as I inhaled the aroma of mouly clementines. How is this even possible??!
No there are no white fluffy clouds for me, unless they are the blue tinged mould fuzz on a wrinkled orange lurking at the back of the fruit bowl. I feel confused by this and I cannot even work out what I am smelling. Certainly there is no discernible coconut, iris, musk, or anything else.
For me there is mouldy oranges (you know the smell that sharp bitter acid sour smell), a hint of pear-drop nail polish remover and a tiny trace of brushed aluminium.
I feel so disappointed, cheated even! I wanted to experience what the others have smelled! Oh well, I guess this just isn’t for me. And I am sad about that.

This little gem needs some advertising. It’s not fair that sales of some “….” by some famous house are increasing just because of pushing advertisements and beauties like Blue Musk remain to shelves, because are unknown…
Blue Musk is wonderful, one of the softest fragrances I’ve ever smelled. Imagine being able to sit and dream on a fluffy white cloud in the blue sky …that’s how I’m feeling wearing it! The vibe is close to Noa by Cacharel or Hanae by Keiko Mecheri or even Hanae Mori (the last one is more fruity, though and I love it less). Blue Musk is rather linear, evolving just a bit. Light, fresh milky coconut that settles into soft powdery iris and musk accord and reminds to follow you for good 6 hours (and it’s a cologne!)…

My third Gandini 1896 is Blue Musk. I am not a huge fan of musk but the combination of coconut, musk and iris is outstanding and amazing. What is even more amazing is that this fragrance is soft and gentle. Perfect for hot summer days.

Stunning. Refreshing. Unique.
What a huge surprise! This is heaven in a large bottle for $30, yet it smells very expensive and elegant. What a great blind-buy.
The notes are exactly as listed in the pyramid and the coconut note smells very genuine – not like sunblock in any way, though it’s also not really sweet. A very classy take on coconut.
When I purchased Blue Musk, it was listed as a man’s fragrance, but it is definitely for a woman, in my opinion. A strong, confident woman who likes to stand out from the crowd.

Gorgeous, Nutty, irisy, vanilaic, musky. This reminds me of a mix of Helmut Lang with it’s irisy minty freshnessh and L’Instant Magic with it’s irisy musky powdery nuttiness 😀
Top quality extracts used. Really! Very nice, very unisex Not as sweet as l’instant and not as minty as helmut lang. Last a good few hours or more
If you are considering a blind buy like I was. For 25 bucks, you cant beat it! I’m not going to try and sell this, for I have no benefit, but I will say I think this is a safe blind buy, if you are familiar with this type of scent you wont be disappointed because believe it or not for the price it’s VERY high quality
go ahead, buy it!

What an interesting way to use coconut…while you clearly smell it, you don’t think “coconut” because of how it blends with the musk and other notes. It isn’t too sweet, it is clean. The teak and touch of cedar takes off any overly sweet edge. A decent dose of musk keeps it earthy and more like just good smelling skin. This doesn’t smell like anything else, it is very unique and even kind of hard to describe. A great cologne for a real bargain! Even the box it comes in is pretty decent quality. Textured and wrapped in quality thick cellophane. It presents well and does not look “cheap” so it would make a nice gift. The bottle is simple and understated and doesn’t look bad at all. I feel like I have discovered a secret steal. I got a 3.3 ounce bottle of this for $25 bucks. Can’t beat that. I’ve paid more than that for 3.5 mls of other stuff. Go ahead, grab a bottle. You won’t regret it.

I cant even begin to describe this! I think this will be my new favorite line! WOW!!! Cocounut, sweet and creamy but clean too! Its fantastic. I love almond but don’t smell much here…

I realize that I’m beginning to sound like a Gandini shill–which I’m not!–but I continue to be impressed by this line of colognes. In the case of MUSCHIO BLU, we have a sweet, heliotropinesque scent married to a clean musk.
This composition reminds me somewhat of Kenzo VINTAGE PEACE because of its clean yet sweet demeanor. The floral notes of this “blue musk” cologne are said to include iris, champaca, and lily. Perhaps it is the coconut which is turning them into heliotrope, according to my nose. On ne sait jamais…
The musk grows stronger as the sweet flowers fade, leaving a subtle yet detectable skin scent behind. I like this creation a lot, and that means something coming from someone who is very picky about musk. No skank, no sweat. This is more like the freshly bathed bottom of a baby, before powder is applied.

love it the smell was unique, not fresh not spicy in between the secret was made
