Blue Jeans is a fragrance one always goes back to. A classic masculine fragrance with woodsy, citrusy notes with a spicy heart and a warm drydown. Top notes are composed of bergamot, lemon, anise, basil and palisander tree. Geranium, rose, lavender, jasmine, sage, heliotrope and lily are at its heart. The drydown contains the notes of iris, sandalwood, vetiver, musk, patchouli, Tonka bean, vanilla and amber. Blue Jeans was created in 1994. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Pierre Bethouart.

Little gem that smells clean, intriguing. The 90s feel if you wear it.
    Point to disadvantage: Persistence.

Citrusy fresh but warm and cozy too thanks to the woodsy and ever so slightly powdery finish. A classic fragrance that is great value for money.

Someone gave this to me as a gift, and it was the worst fragrance I’ve ever smelled. Versace blue jeans smells cheap, and nothing as what you may expect. Don’t be fooled by the box (yes it is pretty cool, and may give a vibe as the perfect casual fragrance), but; indeed, this juice, despite being cheap, is not worth any penny.

Was really cheap and smelled flowery – but not in a bad way.

This is one of my all-time favorites, and it’s been with me on-and-off for nearly 20 years. It also happens to be the cheapest bottle in my collection (with the possible exception of Cool Water).
A definite must-try for any man who enjoys spicy-sweet aromatic fougeres. Also a definite must-try for any woman who likes both the comfort of an old-school classic barbershop/manly scent as well as the sweet-leaning DNA of the modern designer crowd.
I agree with the reviewer below me that this fragrance, in a way, occupies the same space as JPG Le Male. The actual impact of the scent, however, is nothing like Le Male (which I strongly dislike).
Even though this fragrance is strictly synthetic and offers very little reference to any naturally-occurring scent that I can make out, it somehow manages to never “feel” artificial at any point in its lifespan. Unlike Le Male, the impact of this is smooth and inoffensive.
This is one of those fragrances that is very difficult to describe. As other reviewers have pointed out, it is barbershop-ish and moderately sweet in a ’90s kind of way, with a carefree and casual feel. Personally, I usually pair this with a suit (daily business/business-casual, nothing formal) and that works well for me.
I hope they never stop making this gem. But even if they do, there seems to be enough of this in stock with online retailers to last another decade 🙂

Blue Jeans is at heart a classic aromatic fougere. It takes it’s queues from Azzaro Pour Homme, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and even Versace L’homme.
But unlike for instance Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Blue Jeans smells modernized.
The balls of a proper barbershop aromatic fougere is still present, but it’s smoother and milder.
In a way it occupies a similar space as Le Male. Both are 90s takes on the classic barbershop style. Where they differ is that Blue Jeans still has that earthy background. Underneath the 90s varnish of sweetness and woods, there is still that old school masculinity.
I think that’s what given this scent it’s timelessness, but also it’s failure. Blue Jeans is lovely, but you have to have an appreciation for the older scents, to truly love this.
The opening is a sweet citrus. Quite creamy and anisic. Stock is not a word that comes to mind. Actually I’d venture and guess Allure Edition Blanches opening might have borrowed a note from Blue Jeans at this point.
The middle stage is where the florals pop up. The classic lavender is here. Unlike the more wimpy 90s scents, it’s backed by carnation and rose, giving this a quite sober feel. At this stage, the scent is almost Britishly stoic and cold.
But then, the base comes around. Creamy sandalwood and
sweet vanilla ties this beast down, and it shows it’s Italian playfulness and panaché.
All in all a job quite well done, and certainly worth owning at the low prices it’s out there for.
Longevity is very good – 8-9 hours.

This stuff is the worst! It smells like mosquito repellent. I always thought people were exaggerating when they’d say a cologne made them want to puke. Holy Moly this stuff made me gag. I normally love Versace too. Pass on this…..

I really enjoy this gem from 1994. Its a fresh aromatic, spicy, woody, floral, with a hint of sweetness. Conjures up in my mind a Handsome, casually dressed Man who just got a haircut. I get a lot of the citrus and the mint in the top, very energetic vibe right from the start. I usually don’t notice that as I just sprayed it on myself. Its one of my Husbands colognes. We have a recent bottle, so its not nuclear or beast mode projection. For the price its still a good buy even if performance may suffer due to reformulation. I for one am somewhat happy when a fragrance from the 90’s seems toned down a little. Everyone used to smoke, so I think manufacturing and design used to bear covering that funk up in mind.

My wife loves this on me although I find it leaning unisex. I still enjoy it though a few wearings a year during the summer season. It’s ideal for a breezy summer day when it’s not too humid.
The reviewer below me claims it’s for 30+ in age. I always found age barriers or rules of any kind in a fragrance laughable. Blue Jeans can easily be worn by guys of any age from teens to 50+. It’s a nice scent and reminds me of a lighter Eros. In fact, I’m confinced Versace Eros was developed using the DNA of Versace Blue Jeans. I’m not saying they are the same, just share some characteristics. Eros has more vanilla and of course that wonderful mint note blended perfectly. In contrast, the main player in Blue Jeans in addition to the Vanilla is clearly lavender. I don’t get much citrus, but the floral note is why it leans unisex to my nose.
As for performance, it’s excellent for a cheapie. Just 3 sprays is all you need for hours of enjoyment. Hopefully my bottle won’t turn sour like the reviewer below me. If indeed that was the case.

Maybe my bottle soured but it smells like a baby’s butt. Not meant for the young. Powder on top of powder with some vanilla and musk maybe. Only compliment I ever got wearing it was from an old lady I kid you not. Easy on the button too, cause it will punch people in the nose if you over do it. High quality juice though, good for some situations. Under 30 need not apply. Under 2 already smell like it.

My first ever cologne that I wore during my graduation. I wanted to smell good during this special occasion and went to the mall and sniffed out some colognes they have there, this one stood out from the rest. I narrowed down my options to versace man eau fraîche or versace blue jeans. Ended up buying a 10 ml sample of blue jeans instead. Instantly fell in love with the smell. Lasts more than 6 hours on my skin, the sillage is moderate. Don’t spray too much of this if you don’t want unnecessary headaches during the day. I wouldn’t advise on wearing this to the gym especially when doing cardio or you could smell it while breathing. Overall, a good cologne for young guys imo

Either your perfume is really old and has turned (Blue Jeans is discontinued) or you have anosmia. This is a lavender/vanilla combo (some feel it very lemony in the beginning) to me very middling but to others very good.

Classic from my youth. One of the first fragrances to really leave an impression on me. The smell was amazing, presentation was awesome, and the girls and guys in class near me often said I smelled great lol
Blue Jeans, Black Jeans, Polo Blue, Acqua Di Gio, and Burberry Touch were probably the top 5 fragrances of my high school life!

  19. :

It is the one of all my secondary school days
    Simply love it
    Remind me with youth always
Never a day pass without complementary on my smell
    Keep it with love Versace

This is a pleasant, youthful, warm weather scent with great versatility. Herbal/aromatic, citrusy, floral, woody with a vintage vibe in it. It’s not old school and it doesn’t feel dated. It’s a timeless scent such as Boss Bottled. This vintage vibe is that makes it different from a bunch of new releases. Uncommon smell and without the ambroxan effect. Highly recommended. I only wish it had better performance though.
I get many things.. dominant combo is a mixture with lavender, well balanced vanilla, vivid citruses, faint rose, noticeably anise, faint carnation and basil, juniper, mild tonka beans and woody notes. Beautiful. Performance is average, moderate overall with low-moderate longevity and moderate sillage/projection.

    Fragrance -Blue Jeans Versace
    Bottle from – 2017
Blue Jeans opens on my skin with a burst of a bit herbal, fresh and slightly spicy citruses with dominant bergamot mingled with anise and lavender laying on top of a cozy vanilla.
During mid development, lavender becomes stronger and bouquet of a bit green flowers, with dominant rose and geranium, starts to emerge and bring a bit more youthful appearance without trying to be immature or childish.
This all leads into a bit sweeter, woody, powdery and musky base with dominant sandalwood, tonka and vanilla.
This is a classic scent, but I don’t think it’s outdated. However,if you if you don’t like lavender, this is not for you.
    Longevity – 7/10(7+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 6/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 1 hour, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent’s evolution)
Weather -For more or less any time of year.Best in spring and summer.I personally wouldn’t wear this on a really cold winter days.
    Versatility – 8/10
    Age – 19+
    Compliments – 7/10
    Scent – 8/10
Main notes according to me -lavender,vanilla,bergamot,green notes, floral notes, sandalwood, anise, iris.
The drydown is a bit sweeter, woody, powdery and musky and I get some -tonka,sandalwood,musk,flowers,green notes, cedar and vanilla.
    Emotions -youthful,sophisticated,clean,fresh,timeless.
Occasion -for more or less any ocasion.
    Try before you buy.

Tried in the Chemist – extremely bitter astringent BUG SPRAY smell!!! So strong. Maybe it was a bad bottle. The last stage was tolerable and interesting, but not the prelude.

  25. :

@Tyriel, I wonder if that faint bad breath odor you’re smelling is the jasmine? I noticed that the jasmine in Michael Kors Sexy Amber smelled like bad breath to a very disagreeable degree and had to chuck the little sample I got it was so bad…

I loved this scent from the very first whiff I took.
I do not know if I would call it a classic scent.
A classic is Christian Dior’s Fahrenheit from 1988.
But Blue Jeans is very deep in the drydown and it smells
wonderfully of Vanilla in that last fase.
    I love this scent period!!!

I’m reminded of a friend of mine: He’s got perpetual bedhead and always wears a white cotton t-shirt with a pair of beat up converse. He’s laid back with an infectious goofball smile and an immature demeanor that softens you to explore your more carefree tendencies. Fun is his ethos; (But not shots with the strippers or a seductive slow dance kind of fun. Think more: a brown bag while cracking jokes on a long walk kind of fun.) He’s well liked and personable, but this endearing charm that makes him so likable is also his biggest curse, because NO ONE will ever take him seriously. He could tell someone something as important as the secrets of the universe and they would just giggle along like he told another humorous anecdote. I often wonder if I’ve outgrown his steadfast childishness. He’s a slacker. No serious job prospects and no ambition. “Sure, I could do THOSE THINGS, but it’d be more fun if I just did this” and when I’m with him, I impishly agree, chuckling with him as we continue to kick cans down the road. Inevitably though, hanging around him is like grasping for the halcyon days, because on monday morning while I’m ironing my shirt for another 9-5, he’s lollygagging around looking for another juvenile adventure.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

I really tried to like this fragrance, but I smell a faint “bad breath”-note in there that kept grabbing my attention and eventually made me decide to not wear it. I am pretty sure it is a good fragrance that many people like, but something about this fragrance puts me off. I have at least 30 other fragrances that are way better than this one.
However,if you are on a budget and do not smell the off-note, this fragrance is more than worth the money. Because of this, it is a like and not a dislike.
Blind buy. But fortunately not a big loss, as it costs almost nothing.

It feels as if I have a completely different fragrance. I don’t recall the 1994 version having any strong oriental notes in your face. I’m completely confused as to why I smell something almost identical to L’Erbolario’s Méharées in this one now in 2018?! Does anyone feel as if the Blue Jeans now is different from the Blue Jeans from the ‘90s?
Eather way, I love this new Oriental twist to its old softness.

I like this fragrance… but it’s nothing special, the price is amazing you can pick up a 75ml bottle really cheap but the smell to me is just pretty boring artifical lavender with a hint of vanilla but still pretty good
I think for the price everyone should grab this but I won’t be one of those people because there is better
    Scent – 6.5/10
    Price – 9/10
Performance – 8/10 it’s long lasting and well projecting
So in conclusion if you want a scent that’s very casual lavender, inoffensive go for this one especially for the price. But I’d rather go with something different.
I don’t want to be sounding harsh on this. It is a nice fragrance but I just don’t think it’s exciting

this fragrance is truly a classic.
there is a good reason why it’s still around for more than two decades.
    it’s a very sophisticated scent.
    simple yet elegant.
it has this wonderful vibe of subtle floral freshness with vanilla hint into it which makes me think it’s also suitable for beautiful ladies out there.
you can’t go wrong with this fragrance.
    this fragrance is timeless.

I love the Bottle &vintage look to this&container can, great idea,I like this scent&think men should use this as a casual scent&save their more expensive colonge for special occasions, this smells of powder, lemon, woodsy&has a fresh vibe,I like it,even though it’s for men,I almost think it can almost be pulled off by a woman, yet there’s something in it that makes it a man’s,a great casual lower priced Versace~Blue jeans I picture the song by Lana del Ray-Blue jeans. From what others tell me it lasts 3-5 hours& longer on clothing.

Not bad for one of the Versace older fragrances.
The scent of the cologne is very well blended with very many notes to pick up on.
The sillage and longevity are above average making this cologne worth the price for an older cologne.
I love the lavender, vanilla, rose(a note I normally do no like in a masculine cologne) and woody note combination. It is very well put together. These are only a few of the many different notes this fragrance produces.
The vanilla note is very present throughout especially in the drydown mode and smells lovely along with a sweet musky scent.
You can find this stuff on the internet for 15-20 bucks for 2.5 oz.
    (Save the cool bottle…lol)

This scent definitely is on my shopping list.
The notes are fresh and soft to my nose.
It’s not an aggressive eau de toilette.
I personally believe that the scent is versatile and good for everyday use but in warmer weather.
    My rating 8,5/10
Oh and the price is good too.

i was in high school when this came out (thats right, thats how old i am), i find it absolutely amazing that it rocks just as much today as it did back then. back then it was the frag if you wore it, girls and guys were coming up to you asking what you are wearing…well over 20 years fast forward, picked a bottle up for nostalgie , put it on, sure enough 5 mins in the office a girl asks what im wearing, its crazy how original and good this one is.
it was marketed back then for a student budget, and it always remained in that super-cheap range. (never pay more than 20 euro for a bottle of this, you are surely just a minute of googling away from a better deal), same can be said about diesel plus plus masculine, also a 75ml small bottle, with BIG personality from the same era. i would always, always recommend this two, 20 years later they are still value champions and ridiculously good smelling frags.
funny thing is, the older guys in high school were on versus and kenzo (and some of them on dakar, but lets not go there) and those frags totally not held their own over time. i recently had a bottle of versus that i just had to splash all over my car boot’s upholstery, as it was impossible to wear it in this day and age and not to smell like some weirdo. some frags just dont age well at all, but this one is seriously just as cool as its been back then, whether you are on a budget or just want to try some seriously cool, original absolute compliment getter, get this one (and try diesel plus plus masculine too:)

For 13€ (75ml of juice) is a steal
Underrated and forgotten, mine says VERSACE (NOT VERSUS)
    Sweet but not too sweet
Only for the younger crowd? Not a chance, anybody can rock this pleasant cologne.
Wear it with Jeans but be sure that it does not smell cheap.
Easy on the trigger, 3 sprays gave me 9+ hours of longevity.
I am wearing this today on a rainy and windy day, 5+ Celsius and I am enjoying it.
Conclusion, even though the opening is confusing, give it time! give it a try!
Versace is a proven quality house of perfumes.

Oh my god, this is the worst opening since Versace dreamer, smells like detergent lemon mixed with smell of urine of slums where homeless people live (literally). Dry down is better but you still get this weird incredibly synthetic lemon. No cocacola vibe, almost no lavender.
Definitely NOT a safe blind buy, just like Versace dreamer.
I’m giving up on Versace scents 🙁

Versace Blue Jeans acts like its name implies.
    Casual, carefree, chill.
I get a soft, powdery vanilla and lavender. The best part of this cologne is its versatility. This can be worn anytime, anywhere, by anyone. Definitely unisex.
I like it, but I don’t love it. Still, I will definitely be wearing it here and there.
VBJ can be found for about $20, and it is a worthwhile investment. I can see it being a great gift for a younger guy in highschool because it isn’t too strong and is unique.
Longevity and projection are nothing to call home about, but that’s ok because Blue Jeans was never meant to be an in-your-face scent.

Joy bottled. So carefree and easy going. Almost humorous. Love it. First wore it in ’94 and it works as a time machine ever since. Solid performance , great price vs quality ratio. Fresh yet spicy, vivid and intriguing like most of the Jeans line. Gianni did the bottle himself. Love.

Basically this one is a sweet, vanilla based scent, but soild, not loud, not powerful, therefore really wearable. Trust me, this one is really good for those men who don’t love the sweet stuffs. The opening is wonderful combination of citrus and lavender with a hint of anise and basil. After few minutes the vanilla arrives, but not too much, just giving a little bit of sweetness. In the mid notes you can feel many flowers, example lavender, rose, carnation or jasmin. The base is a very well composed part of this creation, I sniff vanilla, tonka, amber and bit of sandalwood. The whole perfume smells like creamy coke + old spice, but hell, I really like it. In Hungary this one is labeled as „Versus Blue Jeans”, so you can buy for cheaper (half price) than other Versace perfumes.
    – Spring/summer/fall, classic leisure scent, maybe a bit unisex
    – The sillage and longevity aren’t monster, but both of us really good, longevity is around 6-7 hours

The intense ginger open recalls Gucci Envy, the spice bouquet is like a sweet version of Spicebomb, and the vanilla and rose base reminds me of Eros. I notice everyone is saying that there is intense lavender in this, but it’s not distinct to me, like it is so well blended with the other scents that there is no overpowering LAVENDER! smacking your senses like with Prada Luna Rossa or a million other fragrances that overdo lavender. This is undoubtedly upscale, complex and gorgeous. Sweet, spicy, floral yet masculine, just enough woods to signal boost the other notes. Lasted over 24hrs on a test strip and lingers on my clothes for just as long. The sillage dies down within four-six hours but still pretty great performance. Might be too sweet for a sweltering summer, but perfect for spring and low 90sF. Like a good pair of well worn blue jeans, this is a casual fragrance perfect for going out to lunch with friends, a typical work day, or a quotidian dinner with your mate. I am in LOVE.

Beautiful! Best scent ever. To be honest I bought VBJ today as a blind buy, I’ve never smelled this beauty earlier. Today I wear Chanel Allure Homme Sport and I’m telling you, if the colognes were heavy weight boxers, VBJ would knock out CAHS in the first or maybe second round.

Hmmm… The powerful fruity explosion from first spray, the spices and then the gentle musk at the end. This was the ultimate starter fragrance.
Since I was experimenting with different scents at that time, I bought it only once (still fondly remember all the Versace Jeans scents, I naturally progressed to cap the collection with the mature Versaces at that time namely Versus, L’homme and Dreamer) but what an experience.
The scent was quite heavy and required a light spray for a full work day, I’m still astonished at how many large bottles of classic colognes I was able to score well within my tiny monthly paycheck back then.

A wonderful, casual, somewhat dynamic scent. Good for young hs and college guys like me,but I could also see elderly gentlemen who are more active using it as well. We’ll worth the money.
I blind bought this because I love the house of Versace, and it was on sale for $19.99 USD. Well worth the money.
The bottle is pretty unique and looks rather nice. The tin it comes for is a littLe odd though, trying to be Greek and american western at the same time.
The opening is harsh, and strong on artificial cistrus, bergamont, and I pick up on a lot of basil and only a touch of the woodiness. Smells like sprite or coke, and honestly though harsh and strong it is invigorating like an aftershave.
This quickly dies off, in 5-10 min, and the floral heart begins to set in as well as the vanilla base. At the 30 min point you will have a slightly sweet (not at all cloying) vanilla-lemon scent backed up with some nice floral and wood to add some depth.
As the frag develops, most of the floral will fade and lavender is the only floral I pick up on as the hours go on. The scent gets very smooth, I believe it is the Tonka and Patchouli responsible for this, and the lemon fades. After a few hours the scent is very smooth, vanilla-wood-floral with musky undertones. I also get a certain warmer spiciness that I don’t know the origins of. Nevertheless, an excellent, crowd pleasing drydown.
Though it is a smooth and slightly sweet drydown, it is still very light and excellent for hot weather. I’d say it’s a great casual wear and work scent. No formal events, night on the town, no love making. Daytime, casual, good smelling man. A compliment getter too, may I say.
And cheap af! Get it now!

To me, This smells like Sprite soda served in a fancy-pants restaurant garnished with a vanilla bean and sprigs of fresh herbs… That probably sounds awful lol, but I honestly mean it in the best way possible.
This could be worn very easily by Men or women. My husband and I share the bottle. Although neither of us reach for it very often, we are both certainly glad to have it. This isn’t a wildly popular fragrance anymore so it isn’t one you smell on every other person who walks by.

This is my signature fragrance! Such unique in my country!
The bottle and box design are very unique and beautiful looking! I wore this on the first date with my girlfriend.
It smells like Summer in a way that is unexplainable. Maybe only for me, because I first bought it at Summer and a lot of good memories connect me to this perfume!
Everytime I smell it takes me back to those good times I had with it. This is forever going to be my favorite and be on my shelves.

One of the value colognes on the market for a guy. I have the original version and the latest version and they’re identical. So don’t bother hunting down a $200 vintage because there is little if any difference. It’s a perfect casual scent on a summer day with blue jeans of course and a clean light color t-shirt or Polo Shirt, and as another viewer said a baseball cap with the perfectly bent brim. Ideal for summer because of its blue vibe of summer freshness, citrus and a different twist of an aquatic with masculine florals. It really is that unique. The basenotes do turn unisex so I can see why some women wear this. It has been one of my summer staples for casual Saturday afternoons in the summer.

Blue jeans from Versace is unique. Such a fine fragrance, some says is for young people, well I use it too and is wonderfull. Lasts long enough like many Versace fragrances.
My advice: pick one and enjoy it!

Sorry to note that this didn’t work with me and specially after one hour of resting on the skin, the mixture of flowery notes was where I started disliking this perfume. This was a gift and I gifted it back to a friend rather than keeping it to myself without using it much.

I can’t believe I ignored this wonderful concoction for so long! I think part of the problem is that it is marketed to men. I wonder how many amazing scents I didn’t even glance at because of a gender assignment marketers tagged on it?
I’m not exactly a trailblazer and it never really occurred to me that I might wear a man’s cologne.
As soon as I sniffed it I realized this is the one I have been hunting. (For me!) Tangy citrus mixes with herbaceous lavender sweetened up nicely with smooth vanilla, some beautiful florals, and a little bit of a woodsy aromatic vibe.
This is a bright and friendly scent that is just so gorgeous!
In this heat wave (110) Blue Jeans is perfect. Wakes up my senses and has a lovely drydown that I love to feel wafting around all day. What a gem.
-update: just discovered what has been wrecking my sinuses this week and it’s this beloved Blue Jeans. I’m so sad! I will love it from afar….

Blind bought this due to its cheap price, expecting a forgettable old-school scent, and boy was I wrong!
This is fun in a bottle. Light and wearable, yet immediately recognizable. The opening is zesty and citrusy (definitely get the coca-cola vibes), but quickly mellows down to a honeyed floral number. It’s easily unisex, and though I expected it to cater to an older generation I’d place it mostly in the 30-below club. An absolute treat to wear, and at its price point there’s really no excuse not to pick up a bottle!

I did not like the opening at all but the dry down is nice. I do not recommend to apply it at chest.

Reminds me of grandma’s baking sessions. I get a delicious warm rice pudding vibe with a touch of cinnamon and I absolutely love it. I’ve smelled similar things that compare but nothing fragrance wise, I’ll definitely purchase 2 or 3 more for backup!
