Feel sad to say this but this scent is terrible… It is so harsh at opening that it smacks you in the face with artificial alcoholic droplets of hyacinth mimics. The lasting power is less than 40 min but sadly that is a good thing for this scent. Regret buying this untested!

Blue hyacinth is true to it’s moniker.
Smells just like freshly cut in a flower shop hyacinth or garden after a rain hyacinth whose color is blue or bluish purple. It’s freshness is invigorating and zesty and gives the fragrance an aroma boost so there’s no need for even a citrus top note. To me the opening is very good and though the performance of the frag is linear and quite simple, essentially an eau de toilette, this is my kind of fragrance. It’s lady-like and elegant in it’s modest simplicity. Reminds me of Victorian ladies or turn of the century Edwardian ladies in big hats with flowers in them, horse drawn carriages, flower markets in Covent Garden London, My Fair Lady, bouquets and English gardens.
The hyacinth is blended with a sweet rose-like geranium. The geranium is detectable but it’s taking a back seat to the major floral note of hyacinth. So if you like hyacinth this is a hyacinth soliflore with a beautiful harmony with the rest of the notes. As it dries down the scent becomes green with vetiver and a touch of clean musk. This is soapy as it dries and it reminds me of floral hand soap. A simple and clean good scent for after your shower. Reminds me of morning time so I would only wear this in the morning on spring and summer days. I’m new to this Jo Malone line and though I’ve sampled a few vials I haven’t had the pleasure of exploring more frags in the line until now.
Absolutely beautiful.

All the reviews below stating that this is a realistic hyacinth are completely TRUE!!!
First of all, each hyacinth color has an unique smell. Every year I buy a bunch of them and you can clearly notice the diference. It’s absurd how authentic this smells like. With a nice longevity, you will seriously feel amongst a blue hyacinth field:
– at dawn (when you first spray it), in it’s whole blue glory, fresh and mysterious, slightly covered in dew drops.
– at noon, warming up and inebriating your personal atmosphere (good sillage, not overwhelming), bringing a hint of geraniums and the hot soil below.
– at dusk, setting down into a dry, dirty, sensuous earthy-floral aura…
Absolutely beautiful! Bravo, Yann Vasnier!

This is so good that I’ve just ordered a backup bottle. I hope they move this limited edition into the permanent JM line! As others here have said, this is a startlingly realistic hyacinth scent. I happen to love hyacinths, and have been searching for a scent that captures their unique fragrance. I have tried many lovely fragrances with hyacinth notes, but had not yet found one that REALLY smells like the flower. This one does (and I’m now sitting next to a pot of forced hyacinth bulbs to compare, having sprayed it on in another part of the house to keep them separate). An added bonus? Unlike some of my JMs, this one does last well. If I use it at night, I can still smell it faintly on my wrists the next morning. Yesterday, my husband entered the room where I had spritzed myself at least half an hour earlier and immediately asked, “what smells so good?”. So sillage is also excellent, especially for a JM. Love it!

I have had hyacinths flowering in my gardens for years now. I love to catch its beautiful scent in a breeze. Now when it comes to fragrance it gets very tricky.
Anyone who has experienced the true hyacinth fragrance knows its quite an intense experience. How do you create a fragrance that is very wearable but stays true to the essential beauty of the hyacinth scent.
Well, I think its worked here. There is that fresh intensity yet its not headache inducing. It evokes that good to be alive feeling!
I really like how the hyacinth, vetiver and rose geranium work so well together. If the fragrance was any stronger then it would not be the success that it is. The vetiver adds almost a soft woody rooty element that keeps everything balanced.
A gorgeous fragrance for Spring of course. Im sad it doesnt last longer but then many beautiful things are very transient.

I sampled this at a Nordstrom recently and I can’t stop thinking about it. The greens in it though! *gasp!
So realistic, so fresh, so absolutely brilliant. If you want to smell like you just got done rolling in flowers and greenery in the bright morning dew, then get this one.

Beautiful perfume, bought in London in late March when despite the gray skies and chilly air all the parks are filled with blossoming trees.. Fresh, clear, incredibly realistic hyacinth that will always remind me of London in the spring. It’s limited edition though, so maybe I need another bottle … Longevity on me is surprisingly good for the JM line. Drydown is quite earthy but delicate , like an early morning garden after the rain.

Finally found a realistic hyacinth! It’s so cooling and the greeness is not sharp, also doesn’t have that weird chalk feel.

Very realistic hyacinth, slightly reminiscent of Penhaligon’s Ostara without the solar effect. Reminds me a bit of Penhaligon’s Bluebell as well.
