Description

Bleu de Chanel is a sophisticated and contemporary fragrance from Chanel that hit the market in 2010. Chanel introduces its enhanced version, Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum, in summer of 2014. The fragrance is dedicated to freedom—endless, deep and boundless.

The woody-aromatic composition created by Jacques Polge follows the original path but goes down into a sensual and oriental amber territory. Wood maintains the freshness of the original in this variant, enriched with depth and velvet amber woods.

The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Timeless, Nice scent for everybody, Easy to wear for any occasion. A must have for every men if you can afford it.
I prefer this EDP more than the others, not so sweet like the Perfum , not so masculine like the EDT.

Class and sophistication in a bottle. My signature scent that I wear dressed up and on special occasions. It smells dark and serious to me, and I feel it matches my personality when I dress professionally. I would not recommend wearing this casually outdoors or to younger, more casual guys in general.

THE NEW ONE MILLION OF THE FRAGRANCE INDUSTRY. The danger with ticking all the boxes is that 8 out of 10 people now use this. In our store this is the number one male fragrance in terms of quantity purchased and revenue generated. Downside is that you smell it everywhere, just like Versace Dylan Blue, similar scent. Several other options out there, think out the box before you spend $200+. My personal view is that its a great scent but its just too common for me to even ponder a purchase. Perfect substitutes would be Dior/ Prada/ YSL

This fragrance is one of the best men’s fragrances ever made. People might think it is generic, because a lot of men wear it. But to be honest, I have never smelled this on a guy. The scent DNA is very unique and I would most definitely know when I would be smelling it.
Next to being pure, quality and class in a bottle, this also has perfect versatility. I cannot think when not to wear this. Office, date, gym, casual, dressed up, dressed down and yes, I even occasionally spray it on my pillow before going to bed. Simply sublime.
I do not get the people that are complaining about longevity issues. I am sure that has to be olfactory fatigue. I sprayed this on at 7:30 in the morning and when I went to the gym at 17:30, I was thinking about spraying on my gym scent (Mugler Cologne), but I was still getting whiffs of BdC, so I decided not to use MC. This was a good decision, because once I started working out, the BdC was released again and I could smell myself the entire 2.5 hours. I was the most sophisticated smelling guy in the gym!
    Scent: 10/10
Projection: 8/10 (Projects for a good 2-2.5 hours)
    Sillage: 9/10
    Longevity: 10/10 (12h+)
    Versatility 10/10
Uniqueness: 10/10 (EdT was the trendsetter of the ‘Blue’ genre)
    Price-performance: 9/10 (Got 150ml for €115,- and a back-up bottle for €95,-)
    Total: 9.5

When you know how to wear Bleu de Chanel, you already know that you will not go unnoticed. A fusion so intense of notes to get you from the bottom of the ocean to the starry sky. Not recommended for when it’s hot because it changes completely!

Got this as a sample while picking up some items for a wedding I was going to attend. Wore it to the wedding…
Amazing. This starts off with a fancy expensive blue bath gel type scent that I love mixed in with the opening of the original. Then it goes in a different more masculine version. It is much more masculine… more woods, sharper zest, and a slight mint along with the signature incense. Awesomeness in a bottle. 11/10.. and a Panty dropper 😉
.. oh ya I bought a full bottle btw.

Bleu de Chanel oh how you make something so simple & clean smell elegant and just sexy
Yes Bleu de Chanel smells of sporty body wash with an elegant jasmine powder combo thrown in for a splash of elegance is that so wrong Chanel God’s of Fragrantica… NOPE
It may not smell like the Chanel’s of the past but remember the past is the past this is now Bleu is refreshing for the house of Chanel male fragrances made for the younger generation as well as the older generation just like Allure Pour Homme was a refreshing point for Chanel male fragrances at its time!!!!
Bleu opens with a grapefruit incense combo with a soft powdery jasminoid background just sexy if you ask me it’s not trying to be too much while still being sophisticated in a natural way without the explosives
The same people wondering about the price majority of Chanel’s fragrances have a set price except for the classic scents so it’s not like their jacking up prices $120 isn’t too much for a Chanel versus a $400 bottle of creed

I never liked the edt but the Parfum sparked my interest. Sad to say that neither the edy, edp or the parfum has the strength that they claim to be and I only get 2 hours out of either. The only difference is the scent characteristics but other than that they all lack the silage, projection and longevity for the price tag. The EdT has up to 1 hour silage and projection. The longevity is 2 hours after which it becomes a skin scent and the same is true for each of the 3 versions.

It has very fresh scent wirh heavy citrus smell, not my taste. However the sillage is heavy and longevity is great too.

The scent that Bleu should have been in 2010 when it was released, but more concentrated to a true par fum.
This version is more smokey and woody making it more masculine.
As a scent this is very good, far better than the Par-fum 2018 version.
Here’s the bad, it absolutely sucks in performance. No longevity or aromaticness.
Houses release Par-fums and Eau De Parfums because they know the original suck on peformance or to cash in more money for a different audience or those that want more natural and longer lasting. BOTH VERSIONS FAILED on performance
The 2018 version is a little fruity and sweet. I dont care for it.
I think its time for Chanel to release a new fragrance, no flanker

I absolutely adore this fragrance. I’ve owned 2 bottles so far and find it to be a perfect masculine versatile fragrance. Casual, smart, and always masculine which many new releases lack in my opinion. I’ve sampled the other bleu style scents and they jst do not compare for me.

Till date I really don’t like nor hate Chanel perfumes in general. I feel it has nothing special considering it is expensive prices. It is just a classic gentle elegant style. The Bleu de Chanel the EDP version I have started to like it because of the amber note in the dry down. The opening it is just a normal citrus note and it didn’t attract me.

    Projection 3/5
    Silage 3/5

Before you’ll judge this one for a lack of character, just stop for a moment and think.
At this time of rising up metrosexuality Chanel men fragrances transform from Antaeus to Egoiste and then to Allure. From manliness to refinement. Chanel wants to provide the new type of man without big muscles, but still confident, dressed up, smart. That what is commercial with Gaspard Ulliel about. Break the wall but via character, not muscles.
Chanel didn’t want to create “Wow, what the f..k is that” that will grab the attention and step forward in front of the person which wears it and may annoy some people, instead of this, they created “Ooooh, nice to meet you” that supplements carriers image.
So, yeah it has its character – it’s icy peppery citrus which gives confidence to his owner, not trying to become the first number or to overpower everything – definitely distinguishable to mine nose.
I prefer EDP version because of performance, and I think it’s “bluer” than EDT.

If I could only keep one fragrance, this would be it. I wear this more than any other scent and I’m coming towards the end of my second 150ml bottle now. The beauty of it to me is that it is so versatile. It is a great office scent and not out of place in any social situation. It’s a quality scent with mass appeal and I’ve never come across anyone in person who didn’t like it. The most appealing aspect is that personally I never get tired of it. It smells as good now as when I first tried it on.

I bought this one back in December and I find myself not reaching for it very often. I’ve worn it maybe a total of 3 times. I mean, it’s clean, classy, masculine. But it just doesn’t excite me at all.
I have other fragrances in that same realm that do a better job. Grey Vetiver, AdG Profumo.. heck, even Dylan Blue is more exciting than this one.
I am selling my 50ml bottle so if anybody happens to live in Europe (preferably Western Europe) and wants to get it at a fair price, just shoot me a message. I live in Denmark.:)
    Update: sold.

To me, this was a bit of a letdown. The amber and incense in the initial opening reminded me of the majority of AQVA flankers from Bvlgari – except a LOT pricier. I believe there are better fragrances at more reasonable price for summer than whatever this intended to be.

Tried this EDP more than 5 times from different Chanel boutiques(2018 batches). The First 2 Hours you will get good projection and silage but after 3 hour mark cant even detect this perfume(even in skin & cloths). I own AHSEE 2017 it is really good perfume with last and projects(Last more that 2 days in clothing). Now Chanel perfumes don’t have the quality or performance they had before. Please CHANEL give us Good quality Juice, we are ready to pay even Double the price if you can give us BDC With good Performance, longevity and Sillage.

I will stick my neck on the block and say that while I like this one I don’t love it. For the price it just doesn’t sit on my skin for more than 3-4 hours depending on the weather. The fragrance is fairly soapy and wont offend anyone around you. It won’t score you any compliments either.
This fragrance will suit someone who is happy to blend in with the crowd.
Want a cheaper alternative with a similar profile? Opt for the Versace Pour Homme.

My perfume addiction led me straight to buy this bottle. Now I own all three versions of Bleu de Chanel.
This is basically grapefruit and incense combo amped by some aldehydes with a woody-ginger drydown. Definitely grapefruit dominates this in general. It’s much sharper than Parfum, however not as peppery as EDT is and softer than toilette version.
Might be more universal in use than EDT if you want to avoid the vibrant pepper/incense mix.
This I would say is more projecting and citrusy “version” of Parfum. Also is definitely more casual and “sporty” than Parfum.
In terms of quality it doesn’t dissapoint however this is exactly the same “modern” type of perfume as the other two in the lineup. Synthetic but in a good way.
Very good longevity (up to 12 hours, sometimes more depending on the amount of sprays) and average to fairly good projection.
Also the best bang for your buck in terms of quality vs price vs size vs what you get.
Quite good and safe blind buy if you can afford it.
Now I own all three from the line. I’m almost out of the EDT. In future I’ll stick to this one or Parfum. We’ll see.

Just bought a 150ml a couple of months ago and I’m really enjoying it this summer. It is one of my wife’s favorites out of my collection and she always requests that I wear this one on more formal occasions because it has a very classy and sophisticated vibe that some other fresh fragrances tend to lack. Like the original it still has that sporty aquatic straight out of the shower vibe to it, but the incense, patchouli, and oak moss have been amped up to give it a more luxurious feel.
The opening is sweet, a kind of fruity musk with grapefruit, ginger, nutmeg and patchouli, the fragrance comes into its own about an hour after application, with vetiver, incense and the subtle animalic notes of ambergris/ambroxan coming into their own. These ingredients smell plenty of quality: round and clear citrus, peppery incense-y woods, and subtle musks. Even if Bleu de Chanel does not break new grounds, its balance and quality will not go amiss if one simply wants to smell fresh and feel well-groomed.
The seductive aroma of Bleu EDP opens the doors of palaces in the East, and makes you relive the mesmerizing oriental mysteries. In the top, musk is gradually gaining strength by absorbing the sugary heart and the sensual scents of sandal wood and incense. The feeling of bliss and pleasure overtakes when the secrets and surprises of this beautiful fragrance are discovered.
Bleu EDP has all the essential aspects of a great fragrance. It’s a scent that is romantic yet mischievous, appealing to bold stylish youth of all ages. Designed for those who are versatile, smoothly adapting to prevail over situations & people, those who are confident and don’t have to brag about their accomplishments. A fragrance that’s a facade of nonchalance before its wild characteristic comes roaring through!
I’ve never once received any type of negative reaction from it even if it is over sprayed. I also think Bleu EDP is severely underrated in the performance department because people around me mention that they can smell it even 12 hours after application. If you don’t have this fragrance you are really screwing yourself because the beautiful memories you will receive from it are just priceless.

Manly scent that is pretty standard. The quality is high, but it is going to remind you of a lot of male hygiene products. Tends towards incense and cedar. Ambroxan.
However, this is much more pleasant than Sauvage. And I prefer it greatly to Sauvage. At least this has some subtleties and nuances and doesn’t punch you in the face.
I get 8 hours out of this.
It’s really perfect for any time, weather, or occasion. I think it’s best in fall and winter, but you could easily wear it all year round.

  29. :

    4 out of 5

It’s okay. Not my first choice, but is a safe crowd pleaser. With my personality, I would only wear this to work every so often.
I get a tangy metallic taste on my tongue in the dry down.
I get 8-10 hours before there’s no sillage.

  30. :

    4 out of 5

BDC EDP will never, ever, even in a hundred years get old. Not my first choice, I go for it about once a week but when I do it’s just the perfect balsamic. There’s no citrus here, it’s all about sandalwood and incense. The smell itself is a perfect 10/10.
The issue is performance. If I’m spending 120$ it better be more than a skin scent for over an hour. I live in florida and usually the heat adds a little extra but not with this one. Idk, I’ll forgive it because I don’t wear this one for compliments or attention I wear it to sniff my arm lol.
Up the concentration and I’d wear it all the time.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

Smells clean, smooth and like men’s hygiene products, but overall this is a best in class.
For the money , I find dylan blue more sensual and with more character, but this more classy and much more welldone than sauvage
Yes, I said it, this is much better than sauvage in my opinion
The quality, composition and personality are all improved here. This fits any occasion, any time, anywhere
I can see older and more experienced boys growing out of sauvage and into this classic
Nothing daring, special or risky here, but every collection needs a dumb or easy reach

My short review for all three BDCs on my skin in my country’s hot & humid weather
BDC (2011 bottle) – Projection is about an hour max, Longevity 3 hours, 10-12 sprays required
BDC EDP (2014 bottle) – Projects for 2 hours, Lasted 4 hours, 8 sprays required
BDC Parfum (2018 bottle) – Projects for 3 hours, lasted 6 hours, 6 sprays required

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Bleu de Chanel is ageless, timeless, sophisticated. Being ageless is it’s best quality but also it’s downside. Is it because it lacks personality? Is it because it’s not oriented to any kind of crowd in particular? Is it a faceless fragrance? Maybe a bit of all this. It’s true we smelled BDC so many times, in so many context, for any occasion, for anyone. BDC could be your granddad as well as your younger cousin in college.
There’s only one requirement to wear this: you have to be a human and that’s about it.
BDC has set up expectations for what a man should smell like in the 21the century. It’s a total classic and we must give credit for that. It changed the game, it changed fragrance history as well.
The EDP smells simply amazing and so easy to like.
The only downside for me is that the patchouli and incense are not pungent enough and they are my favorite notes. But it’s a safe scent, not too earthy and woody. It’s not aggressive and it’s being made with quality ingredients.
To me it’s better than the Edt but I find the new perfume edition very interesting and I might get a bottle as well.
Just like the board games aimed at 7 to 77 years old, BDC is about the same thing. Its the universal guy that makes consensus. It’s serious, rigorous and professional. After all these years, I can’t get enough of it.
It’s a trusty friend that will be the most frequent choice when you are not sure what to wear for a particular occasion.
BDC has moderate sillage, projection and longevity. But the smell is simply deep, blue and universal in any kind of way. I love it!
    Thanks for reading my review!

Ten out of ten. Expensive and worth every penny. Unfortunately hard to find discounted due to Chanel’s distribution restrictions. An amazing citrus scent but the mids and base too! Girls go crazy. DON’T over spray. One spray on suit or shirt. One on skin

I only like this one from all Channel fragrance. The rest just not my cup of tea. This one better than EDT. Easily pass 6 hours and project well. But the price a little bit higher than other nice fragrance outside. U can wear this all year round. Nice one. Glad to have it in my collection.

I bought this due to the hype some time ago. It is a nice fresh inoffensive scent that is very all-rounded and versatile.
I noticed a lot of comments with regard to this being a ‘crowd pleaser’ ‘compliment monster’ etc. I think that is partially true. You will get compliments, but superficial, customary and empty ones, just like someone saying to you (without paying too much attention)’oh nice haircut!’ Or saying ‘how are you?’ when you don’t actually care to know how they are.
Performance leaves much to be desired. In order to make it last for 6-8 hours on my skin I have to first moisturise and apply 3 layers of sprays on each spot- to the total of 12 sprays altogether. I often carry the bottle with me to reapply otherwise.
It is still a good fragrance, one you would reach for when there is nothing better to think of to wear.
    Scent: 7/10
    Sillage: 7/10
    Longevity: 6/10

Ok, there are some fragrances that are considered to have a similar scent profile. Fragrances like Bleu de Chanel, Dior Sauvage, Versace Dylan Blue, Bvlgari Aqva Atlantiqve and Mr. Burberry. But guys trust me, scentwise Bleu de Chanel EDP crushes them all.
There is no competition here. This is way more natural and pleasant and easy on the nose than those other super synthetic fragrances.
If you like blue fragrances then this is your best bet.

It’s an amazing fragrance. I fell in love with that in winter time, but it definitely also goes for the spring- or summertime. The scent itself is magnificent, but the performance is terrible. After 1,5 hours it becomes the skin scent. Absolutely unacceptable for such price. Still love it though. It could easily be 10, but because of the performance – 7,5/10.

I went straight for the EDP without ever owning or smelling the EDT. All i can say, i love this fragrance. It is so well balanced and the longevity is more than good. Only the sillage could be better. But already received lots of compliments for this EDP. Even though your not unique anymore wearing BdC.

I truly love this fragrance! So I decided to buy a back-up bottle. It seems that (in The Netherlands) it is sold out in nearly every (web)shop. Is everyone afraid that this is going to get reformulated and buying back-up bottles?
Fortunately, I was still able to grab a 150 ml bottle.

I’m a little disappointed with this EDP. it has many good reviews but it doesn’t work for me. It’s too quiet, well rounded. it’s not that I don’t like it but it doesn’t surprise me in any way. I think it’s not a compliment getter. you have to ask the opinion to people and they tell you that you smell nice. I will try with the EDT

Nice long lasting scent, i give 8,5/10

  46. :

The EDT version was more zingy and peppery but the EDP version is way more deep in character than the EDT. It is more creamier in texture and lasts longer than even the Parfum version on my skin. The EDP version is respected a lot by me as it is improved by all means. Perfect .

It’s weird. First time I smelled it I thought it was overrated synthetic garbage. In some ways it is. The grapefruit and vetiver are done well. I can’t say I love it but have had women at work literally grab me and smell my neck. Some women absolutely love this stuff.

Bleue De Chanel EDP! Here you go!
In the opening fresh aromatic scent by dominant Jasmin touch very well blended complex perfume! In Dry down smells like expensive hand cream and little bit incensey ( not as much as Dylan blue or Savauge) I like the way that projects! It’s soft but deep! I try to explain! It’s everywhere but no where, it needs to get discovered by people around that who is the one that smells that much good??? It doesn’t scream I’m here, it’s like a slow music by deep and effective emotional notes that works classy and romantic. I don’t suggest wear it if you’re kind a headbanger! It’s for calm, stylish, mature and masculine guys… it’s a masterpiece!!!

`Ah yes… Bleu de Chanel`. That is what most of people that get to smell this on you will say.
This is very popular scent and well recognised. Up to you if you see it as a negative or quite the opposite because it is so good.
EdP is so smooth. Warm citrusy amber incense – very well blended, nothing is out of place…nothing is sticking out , Chanel`s quality
Performance for me is also on point, I am not the one that loves to be a walking fragrance cloud , I find it great that after first few hours it settles down to personal scent. If someone gets close enough they get to enjoy this incredible creation, so very work space friendly, my guess it was a part of the design and they nailed it, if thats an issue then EdT is the way to go
But after all it is BdC and you know what people that get a sniff of your cologne will say, `Ah yes…Bleu de Chanel.`

  51. :

Flawless opening and first two hours when it actually still projects. Sadly it becomes skin scent very quickly. I had huge expectations from parfum, but this one here is still better when it comes to performance. Perfect for work settings (although you will have to reapply quiet often). I usually go heavy on sprays, easily 10 sprays. My next bottle will be EDT, which I do not like that much, but it projects longer and stronger, despite the lower longevity (I do not care about 12 hrs of longevity, when 10 hrs out of it is a skin scent).
    Scent: 9/10
    Performance: 6/10
    Versatility: 8/10

  52. :

    3 out of 5

Even though I think this is an amazing scent and one of the best, I have yet to receive one compliment. Anyway, what a smooth and deep scent, love the contrast of fresh citrus and spice against the incense and woodsy notes. The dry down really has a deep creamy vibe. Awesome stuff.
The unfortunate part of this is the performance. Shock…after all, I am The Frag Soaker Upper. I get between 4-5 hrs max, according to my nose anyway and the projection is pretty soft throughout.
That being said, I’m pretty sure I will always have a bottle of this ready to go.
Edit: Scratch that bit about not receiving a compliment.

In terms of complexity and simplicity this is by far on the top of the table. The quality of juice is excellent! Get 8 hours every time I wear it.A friend of mine, who is allergic to strong & synthetic perfumes, complimented me and said that this was an intriguing smell and despite it being strong (since I had just put it on 15-20 minutes before I met him). He had no head aches or whatever. This is definitely backup bottle worthy.cannot go wrong with this!
    10/10 for the scent
    8/10 longevity
    10/10 versitility
Just go and buy this masterpiece 🙂

I had a problem with the edt version that I don’t have with the edp and it happens in the dry down. Ive come to the conclusion that it was the Vetiver. The edp doesn’t have the dreaded Vetiver, which makes it super amazing on my skin. This is definitely a lifer fragrance.

klajdceka92, I contacted Chanel about the EDP being listed as limited edition on their website. I was told that it was the 10 oz. bottle only that was limited edition. The other sizes were not going anywhere, I was assured. That certainly saved me from buying another bottle. I already have a 5 oz. of this but was ready to stock up if need be. I’ve been a fan of the EDT since it’s launch, but having recently fallen in love with the EDP, I couldn’t imagine being without it. I mix it in an atomizer 4 parts to one part Chanel No. 5 parfum, and the effect is mesmerizing.

The EDP actually smells better than EDT. Better performance, of course, too. It may be overhyped, but this is a safe blind buy and can be worn all seasons and occasions, day and night.

I grew up believing you cannot buy love or class. All that changed after I purchased a bottle of Bleu.
Heaven has a smell, and its this. If it doesn’t, I’m afraid I will be left with no choice but to make reservations elsewhere.

Just seen a new release “Bleu de Chanel Parfum” the price is high, but lets hope it does perform at least like ASHEE or even better.

Female Uber driver said to me “wow you smell amazing and I’m usually allergic to fragrance”. It was Bleu De Chanel EDP. It smells so much better on my skin than the EDT.

Amazing scent for dressed up occasions or the office. Has this conservative touch. Love it!

A smoky citrus/woods bomb with smooth amber in the background. Compared to the EDT, this one is less about the bright citrus notes, and more about the smoky woody notes and amber. An extremely versatile fragrance that I never get tired of.

this scent last pretty long on my skin Longer that dior sauvage and my skin eats up cologne trust me. when I first tested it I sprayed on the back of my hand before bed when I work up in the morning then scent was still there not strong but it was there. if your having performance issues here is a good tip. rub lotion in your left hand, use your right index finger to spread over the palm(not until it absorb) next put 2 sprays into the lotion rubbing over your neck or arms . then apply the fragrance to the spot as usual. I also called chanel to ask if the product was reformulated they said it was the same juice as before. I love this scent over all in my collection because of the versatility sauvage is next in line.

I love this fragrance and would agree with the current rating above of long lasting, on clothes especially. Easily get 12+ hours on clothes, less on skin of course. Living in Dubai, I would expect to get less wear out of it than people wearing this in Europe, for example, but it’s still a powerhouse.
Inoffensive, easy to wear & blind buy worthy (in my opinion). I would say for the older man though, 25+ at least. My signature scent, I reach for this on varying occasions. It seems to fit so well for casual, work and smart and usually will get me comments (bearing in mind the environment / country I live in, people don’t really approach you to pay compliments).

mikkiboy – Not everyone wants to be notice. Taste is personal. I don’t like any fragrance from Paco Rabanne just because all (or almost) their scents are so powerful and syntetic.

Tried this one, and I understand hype of beeing Mr.average. Immagine yourself going to work, and exciting subway towards the street with a river of people around you – nobody will notice you. So this is how this Chanel Bleu smells, just average. Actualy many of Chanel perfumes smell boring except Antaeus which is special beast. love it or hate it,but Paco Rabanne makes the best perfumes today ( Powerfull, bold, interesting, affordable and you will be noticed ).

great scent. Deep and confident and not as bright as the edt but deeper and To me a nicer smell.the edt is thin and headachey

A perfume that smells great, versatile, can be wore on formal or casual environment, can be wore during day and night, summer or winter. This perfume will never go wrong. And a blind buy worthy perfume.

I keep testing this out waiting for this fragrance to get better. Too loud in the opening. Too weak in the drydown. Painfully uninteresting. Like a handsome looking guy with a boring personality. Chanel always seems to drive me nuts.
