An absolutely wonderful blackberry with grapefruit nuances. But I feel a little uncomfortable wearing it in public. I feel like I smell like a giant blueberry muffin. Theres definitely something else in there giving it this peculiar sweaty muskiness.

Love this scent but I wish Jo Malone would do at least EDT so that the juice would last longer cos even having a 30ml spray for $98 is quite pricey. Fruity herbal with a hint of cedar smells refreshing and light. May be too weak for really cold weather but terrific for hot weather.

This is my favourite perfume of the last year or so. It’s very appropriate for many occasions and works particularly well in spring, summer and autumn, it’s maybe a bit too light for winter though. The scent is just so lovely; tart yet sweet blackberry with a hint of bay leaf (definitely just a small hint though). I like the idea of blackberry in fragrances, but sometimes they can smell very synthetic and overly sweet. This perfume seems to hit the sweet spot for me (edit: I can’t believe I just made that pun without even noticing…), although admittedly I wouldn’t mind even a bit more tartness. Still, the scent is delicious yet not too gourmand, you don’t end up smelling like a piece of pie but rather like a fresh, ripe blackberry.
However, the longevity and sillage are rather poor considering the price. Personally I don’t mind it that much as I’m not a fan of loud fragrances, but I know those aren’t a problem for everyone.

The blackberry note in this is very beautiful, while the bay leaf note is only in the background. Smells amazing. Sillage is alas soft, while longevity is only moderate. As for fresh blackberry fragrances, Byredo’s Accord Oud is a better offering in my opinion.

Well, this is just wonderful on a hot summer day like today, and I get why it’s so popular! It has the kind of delicious tartness that’s like catnip to me, just utterly irresistible – like a perfected, more grown-up version of the tartest fruity-florals I used to love when I was younger. It’s all about the fruit notes, but in a very natural, unsweetened way: lovely raspberry and grapefruit that smell divine but sour, like you’d need to add some sugar to make them as nice to eat as they are to smell. The bay leaf adds a nice contrasting edge, noticeable but not prominent, which is just how I like my aromatics.
The only downside is the longevity, but that’s to be expected in this genre. And since the very opening is the best part, re-applying often actually seems like kind of a bonus (at least from my hopeless perfume hoarder’s point of view, since I don’t have to worry about using too much, I never seem to finish a bottle anyway). Another one for my wish list…

I’m glad I’m not the only one noticing the ‘armpit’ ‘sweaty’ smell from this! I actually don’t mind it as it feels human and less like a room spray but it sure has this underarm spiciness mixed with some green sweetness! Does this have cumin? Or is this the bay and vetiver? It’s quite interesting and would work fine on a guy

It smells very bitter and herbal on me. I find it quite masculine.

I’m a guy and I really like this. JM did themselves a disservice by labeling this for women instead of unisex. I have smelled and own far more “feminine” leaning fragrances that are for both sexes (e.g., JM Earl Grey and Cucumber, Bond Sag Harbor). The bay note in particular gives it a subtly masculine edge. I agree with most of the descriptions of notes, particularly regarding the greenness and natural/unsweetened berry notes, but I mainly wanted to point out that this is firmly in the unisex spectrum and totally appropriate for a man. Bonus points since the wife loved it too. I may have to consider a FB in the near future. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about smelling like other guys.

Imagine walking in a lemon grove, the smell of lemons wafting through the air. Stepping on ripe blackberries that have fallen on the ground, their tart juices filling the air. Then smelling the green of herbs growing nearby, and flowers in the distance. Finally, sitting down under the tree, enjoying the shade and the smell of woods and damp roots.
That’s the image I get with this perfume. It is wonderfully fresh and tart. Then dries down floral and woody. Absolutely gorgeous.

Got a sample for this coz i just joined the Jo Malone cruise. 😉
    And this one is lovely.
Maybe because I’m the type of gal who loves fresh “herbal” smells. But don’t let that word “herbal” fool you or make you think of it in a negative way.
Gahhhh. This is a beautiful well-blended scent.
I also got the sharp grapefruit that some pointed out here. But it tones down after a few minutes.
    I love the drydown!!!
Guess I need to get the full bottle. 🙂
And onto trying out another Jo Malone scent.

I usually blow through bottles of whatever I like at the moment, but I keep going back to this one. It’s perfect for the summer-to-fall transition and smells irresistible. I know L’Artisan’s Mure et Musc is one of the best blackberry fragrances around (or it was, until they reformulated), so this is really satisfying my craving for something heady and lush and delicious. I don’t believe in gendering fragrances but even if I did, this would work for men just as well as women.

  14. :

Not a fan of this one as it smelled SO “herbal” on me (the aroma of bay leaf, the tartness from blackberry and the sharp grapefruit…).

  15. :

    4 out of 5

I’m usually not a huge fruity floral wearer, most fruit smells often don’t really work well on my skin, but this one is quite nice. I think because the fruit isn’t candy/juice kind of sweet, it’s tart like blackberry juice right from the berry combined with the grapefruit. And the bay and vetiver and cedar provide enough aromatic/spicy and woody notes to tone it down as well. I’d say this is unisex. Longevity was pretty good for Jo Malone on me. Sillage is cologne like. Nice.

My new Jo Malone favorite. It is light and refreshing. It is sweet but not as much as Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey – though they sort of smell closely the same. The only downside is that it does not have much projection.

  17. :

This is seriously one of the best of Jo Malone line.
It opens very greeny of Blackberry leaves (not the fruit in my opinion) and grapefruit. Blackberry then fades a Little and warm grapefruit skin comes through, a very tarty, juicy, mouth-watering feeling. It has definitely a vetiver base (the one that is grapefruity). Very soft.
The scent itself is extremely comfy, it belongs to the chill/mindfull category, you cannot overspray it.
    Suits best for spring/summer.
Longevity roughly 4 hours and you need to reapply, but I don’t mind :).
Very Close to The Diffrent Company Sublime Balkiss (minus the grapefruit)

This cologne has a tart juiciness to it that separates it from other fruit-based fragrances. It smells truer to the fruit and isn’t cloying or too sweet. It’s not really my favorite scent, but I’ve recently found that it’s quite nice when layered with Egyptian musk oil and I’m sure would be wonderful when layered with other scents.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

This is a comfortable and happy cologne for me.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

It opens very green and sweetish with a “zing”. The sweet is not the sickly sticky sweet one can find in many perfumes, but more of a natural sweetness of a berry or fruit. The “zing” comes from a burst of citrus which counteracts the sweetness. The green grounds the fragrance to an earthy goodness. This cologne is fresh, uplifting and bright yet earthy and “grounded” at the same time. If I really had to describe it for those who are wondering whether to blind buy it or not I would say this: take a tomato and remove the green sepal (the green tip on the top), slice a grapefruit and smell both together.
Many say that this cologne turns woody and it’s true, but not THAT woody….more earthy I would say. Is it too masculine? Not at all, not for me, it is leaning toward feminine in my opinion.
This cologne does not last long….1 to 2 hours max. I am hoping spraying it on my clothes will help. I kind of regret buying it, it’s not the best Jo Malone out there. I liked it in the store but after wearing it for a few days I wish I got something else instead. 3.5/5

I am enjoying the bitter leaves and grapfruit. I hope this lasts because right now this is the best scent of the 6 sampled today. Subtle sourness and fruit. Not tuti fruity at all – very realistic and complex
Getting a sour grapfuit, almost stronger than the blackberry. Digging this – reminds me of a better executed Blackbird by Olympic Orchid

Delicious and wearable for many different occasions, Jo Malone’s Blackberry and Bay approaches the concept of berries in a natural, vegetal, photorealistic manner. This is the most realistic blackberry note I have ever encountered, I swear I can even smell the slight bitter, tart, almost vegetal quality of the seeds, the stems, and the peel of these little dark fruits.
Like other well blended Jo Malone colognes, none of the other notes distract from the namesake accord. Instead, the other elements of the fragrance like the gentle florals and earthy vetiver merely help support, complement, and add dimension to the stars of the show: bay leaves and juicy, ripe, blackberries.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

Starts very herbal with lots of bay and vetiver, which is actually very nice and refreshing! Unfortunately I don’t get any blackberry at all, and 5 minutes of sitting on my skin turns this into an enormous grapefruit and vetiver sillage bomb on my skin. It’s actually rather unpleasant and stings my nose pretty badly. I’m sad I don’t like this, as Jo Malone is a house I usually have a good bit of success with.

  24. :

Very fresh and light. Sadly not very long lasting. Reminded me of a fresh mojito then the sales assistant said tomato leaves! I can see why. After wearing it for a bit it started to remind me of something else. And it shocked me when figured it out! Victoria Victoria’s Secret for women. The pink bottle with a bow on it. Call me crazy but after a little while they certainly have something in common!

I just received this as a gift and today is the first day I’ve been wearing it.
The initial spray was quite green and tart, then I detected a bit of a spiciness. Now the dry down is sort of floral – I wasn’t expecting it.
I normally am drawn to woody-green scents, so the floral bit is something I am getting use to.
I smell the vetiver in the dry down as well, not so crazy about vetiver as I do find sometimes it’s so sharp and screechy (is that a good description? lol)
It has turned a little sweeter than the first blast of the tartness, which I loved – probably the grapefruit/blackberry quality.
It does stay close to the skin, which I appreciate so that only those really close to me can get a nice whiff 😉
Overall, I will continue to wear this and will probably mix this up with another of their fragrances which I own, Wood Sage & Sea Salt. Hopefully that pairing will do something to tone down the sweetness?
I still think it is a beautiful scent, just a little outside my comfort zone. I’m a die-hard Diptyque Tam Dao & Atelier Cologne Bois Blonds fan.

  28. :

I adore this scent it is very fruity but the first note that hits is definitely bay leaves, reminds me of herb gardens and long summer walks. The blackberry does take over but it travels back to the bay leaf with every breath, very complimentary to each other. It’s soft but has a real edge to it so certainly something special.
Where it does have the warmth to it and the bay leaf I don’t see why this isn’t unisex as imagine is very different on a mans skin. However it certainly is a sassy unique fragrance

  29. :

    4 out of 5

Best for men IMO. 154 smells meh, wood sage and sea salt is like water so soft and very very bad performance. Lime basil and mandarin if you want to smell like mojito and no depth and transition. But this one. The fruitiness of blackberries and the smokiness of cedar, the green smell of bay leaves, and the dirtiness of vetiver makes this one Creed Aventus little brother. Smoky, dirty, fruity and green.

I tried this fragrance several times since it’s been launched, and my opinion hasn’t changed. Growing up, my mother often used bay leaves in her cooking, and this is the first note that hits me. While it is fresh and realistic, I don’t want to walk around smelling like a spice rack. Second, it smells 100% masculine. Third, it doesn’t smell good. To me, this dries smelling like a guy’s armpit. Sure, this guy showered in the morning and applied his deodorant, but it’s a sweaty armpit nonetheless. There is a pleasant blackberry note in the beginning but it fades quickly, leaving behind what I described above. Not for me.

  31. :

I’ll leave this short and sweet: I wear this when I am going to the grocery store and I am not wearing anything special, because it’s a unique, very clean scent.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

Nice, simple floral fruity scent. I can’t smell much of blackberry. I can smell a lot of citrus instead and it’s very soft and mellow unlike many citrus scents that are harsh.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

One of my favorites from Jo Malone though I can’t smell a distinct blackberry, I prefer the body creme as I feel the scent stays longer with the creme rather than the cologne and it’s even better mixed with peony and blush suede

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Jo Malone fragrance ever. It was made by magical wizards and some serious alchemy. The ingredients come together perfectly to create a gorgeous complicated tart and green smell. I want to marry my bottle.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

I really love this fragrance. I can’t say I smell Blackberries or Bay, but it’s a pretty, fresh and fruity scent. However, the sillage and longevity is terrible. It’s much too expensive to only last 30 minutes.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

I love at first the scent of this perfume (cologne?) but unfortunately the price is not worth while since it is fading like a whiff and after one hour I cannot find it anymore. too expensive, too light, not able to stay where you spray it, Which is a pity, because is fresh and classy

  37. :

    4 out of 5

If you are looking for a fruity summer perfume that is not sweet and uses not just the typical citrus fruits, look no further, this is it. It smells just like the name says, tart blackberry with a hint of bay leaf. Super refreshing, best used on hot summer days.
On my skin it does last a few hours, but not as long as perfumes that are more heavy on the base notes. That’s not a problem to me, as it is normal for light and fresh fragrances like this one.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

Sometimes I want my perfume to take me on a journey through a series of notes and accords; with distinct phases, opening/heart/drydown/etc. And yet, sometimes I just want to put on something that simply smells really good. Blackberry and Bay is lovely from start to finish. And it’s all there from spray to fading off my skin; a linear scent. A gorgeous earthy, rich, wrist crack kind of linear scent. There’s fresh blackberries, tempered beautifully with a strongly aromatic bay, that just barely has its masculine edge smoothed with an airy vetiver. This scent is nearly everything I love about ripe, slightly bitter, cool fresh berries; so green it’s practically black.

  39. :

I love this one. It smells like summer outdoors to me, with that green blackberry leaf feeling and a plant-like green freshness. Lovely

I bought this about 3 years ago (loved from the 1st sniff!) but was very disappointed by longevity, it lasted like 30-60 minutes. So I left it on the shelf and just enjoyed sniffing the lid from time to time. But when I tried it again several months ago, longevity became amazing! The perfume somehow matured, now it stays with me for the whole day! And I see the same impressions in the review above! Really interesting, maybe JM should test ways to “mature” it before putting into bottles?
Now I’m really sad that I bought just a small bottle 3 years ago, maybe I should stockpile and forget about it for the next couple of years!
The smell itself is just lovely, sweet-spicy, not irritating at all. Blackberry and Bay as the name says 🙂

Nice, inoffensive and more than acceptable as far as This Kind of Thing goes.
How far this kind of thing goes is arguable, as all JMs I have had a chance of testing seem to be pretty simple things more (much more) suitable for room fragrances than personal perfume. This one is more interesting than some, anyway, and pretty pleasant. But I can’t imagine paying the money they charge for this.
I never understood the hype and cult surrounding Jo Malone, and having tested several of the frags I still don’t, but there we go.

  44. :

Absolutely heavenly on first spray,I just wish it stayed there. It is lovely but the fresh blackberry doesn’t last long. A gentle, fresh skin fragrance, oh so yummy when first sprayed!

  45. :

This perfume is unapologetically green. I don’t really visualize the blackberry (but it’s there). To me it feels like an afternoon spent in the field, looking and picking at different herbs and weeds. It also reminds me of a good salad you get at those restaurants that specialize in local organic food. It’s simple, understated but one of a kind. I imagine this is what a guy who is well read and humble would smell like, or a woman who has very few clothes but they are all of good quality and timeless style.
I got a sample at a counter in Macys. The lady working there was very nice. They didn’t have a sample of the scent I liked best (orange blossom), so she offered to give me the only sample they had. The experience gave me a good impression of the brand. Will possibly buy a full bottle from them in the future.

I was desperate for energy and this fragrance layered with red roses cheered me up , when I had the toughest moments in my practicum.
    How shall I describe this?
My negative energy in the blue mornings almost swept away by the bay and blackberry, then the sweetness of the rose added the happy part of my emotions to my rest of the day, autumn dry breeze didn’t slow me down, because the scent in the air from my top gave me the energy I needed to carry on.

Bay-heavy scents have been popular for men for literally hundreds of years, and that’s all I smell when I smell this– old fashioned men’s cologne. I love blackberry, but prefer them in a sweeter rendition. This is too masculine for me personally.

  48. :

    3 out of 5

Now I understand why the reviews on this are so varied, it is a really hard scent to describe. This took me a few uses to acquire an appreciation for it, its very strange how the more I smelled it, the more I grew fond of it. At first sniff I found it unappealing and sort of understood one of the reviews here comparing it to insect repellent. I didn’t get any of the notes listed at all. But each time I wore it, its like my nose got more acquainted with it and I started picking up more from it. My biggest fears buying this blind were that it would be too masculine or too much like savory bay leaf. Luckily neither of those turned out to be true for me (I do not like wearing masculine leaning scents at all). Instead on me this developed into a very sexy scent. It turns into a rich, tart berry/berry leaf scent that is slightly sweetly musky, and I find myself trying to smell my wrist or clothes to keep smelling it. I have a small size for now, but Im pleasantly surprised that I am reaching for this unique scent often compared to my usual fruit and florals.

  49. :

    5 out of 5

I absolutely love this fragrance. The depth of the blackberry vs the herbal green of the bay is fantastic! I don’t get any of the citrus on my skin, which is fine with me. It does not scream daytime on me. Nor does it say “going out”. Somewhere in the middle

  50. :

    5 out of 5

I really do love this scent for spring/summer. It’s so refreshing with a slight tartness. I just wish it wasn’t so fleeting! Lasts only about 3 hours on me.

  51. :

    5 out of 5

Wow, what a perfect combination of grapefruit and blackberry, which are the 2 prominent notes on my skin, this is rich and refreshing at the same time, that tasty juice, makes you want to drink (laughs). Performance is fair.
    I evaluate this:
    Smell: 8.5/10
    Projection: 6/10
    Longevity: 6.5/10

  52. :

    5 out of 5

Hyper-realistic smell of blackberries, but for scents this natural there’s bound to be a trade off in terms of longevity. It’s a sad reminder that there’s no substitute for the real thing, only fleeting reconstitutions of it.

  53. :

    4 out of 5

I love blackberries and bay leaf so I was hoping for something promising. Jo Malone scents do not seem to work with my skin chemistry whatsoever.
On my skin: sweaty, musty armpit with a hint of sour, citrus cologne.
Coming to mind: a Ron Jeremy 1980’s porno

  54. :

There is something cold yet warm at the same time with this fragerance. Someone said like winter berries covered in snow and I totally agree. It is CLEAN yet CAPTIVATING and very COMFORTING. I was in an expensive, luxurious resteruant in America once and when I first smelled this it reminded me of there for some reason. The bay and berries together are so divine I cannot even really describe. It has a subtle greenness to it sort of like evergreen trees. It also has a calmness to it. A very rich, luxurious, comforting scent. I think this is marketed as unisex but to me it is a more female scent xoxo

I bought this duty free and blind as it was offered in an airline catelogue and I needed to get rid of some local currency. It came with the Lime Basil and Mandarin.
In the heat of an Australian summer I tried this for the first time. Immediately on the skin, I got a fresh and tart note, no sweetness to speak of. I get a strong sense off the blackberry. It felt cool but sustains a lovely human warmth as it settles into the bay while retaining the blackberry note throughout. It has a soft silage, perfect for me as I hate a perfume that enters a room before me.
I really love this frangrance and I am looking forward to trying this layered with the Lime Basil and Mandarin.

  56. :

I got this as a free sample, and I didn’t think I would like it because I’m not a real fruity fan, and I suspected it would smell too much like berries. Not that I don’t like berries, these are beautiful here because they are tart, not sweet like the icky berry shower gels out there – really lovely, but it was too simple, too easy to pick out. Then the lovely earthy dry down happened and I was sold – loveliness. Don’t like it enough to spring for a FB, but I will enjoy the sample now and then as my only berry scent and maybe track down another sample on ebay when that one is done. If you like berries, you must try this one.

This Jo Malone fragrance Is beautiful, evocative of the color green and I visualize fresh berries on a wreath in the snow. The air is crisp and cold and there are pine trees around. Tangy, sweet berries and green with a warm, sweet drydown.
Of course, this doesn’t last long enough!
This little wood nymph has played her part and bounded off to do something whimsical in another part of the forest in all of 3 hours. But while she was there it was love!!! This is a wonderful holiday perfume- like Christmas in a bottle. It doesn’t have the heaviness or spice associated with Christmas to me, but feels festive, crisp, and piney.
I also wore it in summer and the bright fruitiness with greens was cheery and bright. What a marvelous smell.

  58. :

    4 out of 5

Love Jo Malone scents and this one tops them all. I love that i can wear it anytime of the day and still feel fresh and clean after a long day’s work. The drydown is amazing. I sometimes layer it with nectarine blossom and honey. But it’s good enough to wear by itself. If you had one JM fragrance to choose from, get this and you’ll love it till the last spray.

  59. :

    4 out of 5

Lovely fresh scent – unfortunately it only seems to last for an hour or so. Such a shame – I find that most of Jo Malone’s perfumes are very ephemeral (apart from the horrible sea-salt and sage).

  60. :

I love this scent..it smells so natural and fresh…I only wish it could last more than it does..I get like maybe 3hrs max……..all the notes are blended so well that its a shame that this is gone so soon…I have never returned a fragrance to a store. However after two wearnings i felt for the price it should be a bit more of a lasting quality. Nordstroms was gracious in allowing me to do this…

This is the PERFECT fragrance for me!! For some reason, when I wear it, I think of fall, high school football games, being outdoors at night with a slight chill in the air, or walking through the woods/forest on a chilly day. I absolutely love that it is unisex because I am not a huge girly girl, when it comes to fragrances. I like androgynous scents for some weird reason. The blackberry plays such a great role because it isn’t sweet like most other blackberry fragrances on the market. The bay leaf creates an earthy, herbal, cool feel. It smells unique with a mysterious quality that I consider memorable because I haven’t smelled anything like it to date and I have tried hundreds of fragrances. The blackberry and bay mesh together seamlessly to create this beautiful fragrance. If you love the crisp, cool feeling that fall brings, give this a try. As for all of the comments regarding the JM fragrances not lasting but a few hours, I can spray 3 sprays in the morning and still smell it that night. Two thumbs up!!

I really cannot get enough of this fragrance, this is how much i love it. I cheated on my every other perfume with this bottle of blackberry and bay. Many times. It goes on when it’s winter and it goes on when it is summer. A fruity, citrusy with a hint of bayleaf and vetiver fragrance. I wish the fragrance was EDP and lasted forever. Pricy for what you get in longivety, priceless for what you get in the composition.
    Love love love.

Natural sweetness of black berries and bay. This is sweet fruity scent but at the same time masculine because of the bay. More suitable for men, unless you layer it with something else to make it more feminine.

  65. :

    4 out of 5

Fresh, tangy, sharp. Not overly sweet or too synthetic, as I fear with some blackberry scents.
I loved this one immediately. I don’t smell many things like this on a day-to-day basis.
There’s definitely a strong opening of blackberry and some supporting bay leaf. That lingers even after a dry-down, but gets reigned in by some woody, almost slightly masculine base notes.
That lemon citrus brightens and adds to the overall freshness.
This is the kind of scent that surprises me throughout the day. Once it dries down, the silage comes in a bit closer, but I get strong whiffs as I move about, and there’s not a point through the process where these whiffs become anything other than the same fresh, tangy, summery scent.

It’s so natural and so good. A little on the pretty side to be a man’s cologne but I think its safe to say it’s unisex. I’m going ahead and buying it for my wife who doesn’t typically like perfume. I think she’ll love it! (If she doesn’t, I’m keeping it).
When I started this hobby, I liked the Jo Malone fragrances but didn’t appreciate at the time just how beautiful and natural smelling they are. (I keep smelling my arm as I write this)
Fresh and Clean and Natural. Man, this stuff smells good.

@Verdigris, you have my sincerest gratitude for this Blackberry & Bay!
Words cannot express how much I adore this scent! The price is not easily within my budget, but I had to buy it anyways. When I find better words, I will post again to discuss the trajectory.
I’m now keen to own *everything* produced by Jo Malone.
The way I feel about Guerlain for formal events is how I feel about Jo Malone for casual life.
Does anyone have a few thousand dollars I can have?

This perfume smells like the sensation of biting into a crisp, juicy apple, feeling a welcoming breath of fresh air on your skin after spending hours inside, and getting in a bed with clean, freshly washed linnen.
Pure synaesthesia. If I’d pick one perfume that gives me an instant happiness rush, i’d be this one.

I test drove this today becasue the Nordstrom associate was nice enough to give me a sample. I LOVE how it smells. Blackberry and very fresh, and very different from anything else in my wardrobe (which admittedly tends to run towards sweet vanilla patchouli bombs). I would definitely consider buying it.
The one problem: little sillage to speak of and basically no longevity. After an hour if you wanted to smell it AT ALL, you would need to stick your nose in either my neck or my elbow crease. So I guess my fiancé and I would be enjoying it and basically no one else, as I really don’t want anyone else’s nose in either of those places. 😉 Maybe if you bathe in it?

For me, Jo Malone’s Blackberry and Bay is one of the easier perfumes from the range to wear.
There are no complicated notes that interfere with the simple formula, and the name is pretty much an accurate description.
Whenever I spray this, I smell fruity purple blackberries straightaway, and watery, fresh, green leaves.
If you can imagine going blackberry picking on a summer’s day, just after a brisk rainfall.
The cedar and bay leaves really do ‘open’ up for the berries, and lend the scent a delicate – but fruity, nonetheless – spicy drydown.
Longevity is really disappointing, however. Once sprayed, the scent lasts for a few minutes at most, with sillage being very soft.
If I could sum this scent up in two words for the amateur; Sweet and Fresh.

The opening of this fragrance is so sexy. Ultra tangy blackberry and dark green bay leaf. Sensual and spicy. I wish it stayed that way though. Dries down so quickly to a mild run-of-the-mill fruity fragrance with slight aromatic spiciness.

I am a man and I have over 150 different men’s colognes. Got this one as a gift. The person gifting it did not realize it is designed for women. I wear it anyway and think it is fantastic. I find it more unisex.
The fragrance is fairly subtle. It is fruity, floral and if I tried to make a comparison with a man’s cologne that I own it would be Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium Pour Homme. Both have cedar and floral notes but Opium has black currant where this one has blackberry.

This is the first perfume I bought since discovering the joy of perfumes more generally. I smell lemon, green leaves and sap, and sweet & sour berries. It’s a delicious fresh smell that truly reminds me of walks through a forest, but it doesn’t last as long as I’d like, and I’ve discovered that other niche brands sell perfumes in EDT or EDP concentrations for a similar price, while Jo Malone is only EDC.

I don’t get any of the official notes in Blackberry & Bay. Just seems like a cheap men’s cologne. I would dislike this scent on a man or a woman.

THIS WAS A BLIND BUY FOR ME. I SO WANTED TO LIKE IT BUT ON ME IT JUST STUNK. THERE ARE SO MANY MORE INTERESTING PERFUMES OUT THERE FOR ME TO WASTE TIME ON THIS. ANYWAY I ALSO THINK IT MIGHT BE BETTER FOR MEN THAN WOMEN. I GAVE IT TO MY HUSBAND AND WHILE I STILL DON’T LIKE IT SUITS HIM BETTER.
