Description
Paco Rabanne presents the masculine Black XS (developed by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Rosendo Mate in 2005) in a new bottle and packaging in May 2018. The fragrance is described as a lively woody oriental that contains raw energy, radical charm and the spirit of rock’n’roll. Its composition reportedly remains unchanged.
The composition contains spiced praline dipped in patchouli, refreshed with lemon and kalamanzi notes. There are also aromatic ingredients, such as sage and tagetes, woods and spices.
Top notes: Calabrian lemon, Calamond citrus, tagete, sage
Heart: cinnamon, tolu balm, black cardamom, pralines
Base: rosewood, patchouli, black amber, ebony
It is available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

i just got it and i think there has been a reformulation, it smells a lot lighter and more summery, the distinct sweet smell is a lot less distinct.
its a nice perfume but the sillage is much less and it does not smell the same

Yesterday, I quickly tried this version on a test strip. First impression: seems less sickly sweet compared to the original. I definitely get the cinnamon, praline and citrus. I really enjoyed the scent, I find it less juvenile than the original. I don’t own the original so I could be wrong and it is the same scent. Will definitely smell it again when I pass by the perfumery.

Very snazzy! I just wish the larger size of this bottle design was a little easier in the hand. I’m always afraid I’m going to drop the bottle or end up spraying into the cap…which by the way goes back/opens further than I initially realized. I wonder if this new version will be closer to the original formulation. Looking forward to testing it.
p.s. – I haven’t tried this version in the new packaging so I’m not voting yet…even though I quite like the bottle. I’ll wait until I actually test it before I vote.
