I had this fragrance back when it was first launched. It was not a favorite back then, as it did not suit who I was…not because it was a bad fragrance.
Fast forward too today….and my exoloration through vintage scents. I bought a small bottle at a bargain. It smells very different from what I had back in the day. It seems to be quite a generic powder scent now. Not bad, but not distinctive the way the original formula was.
Not sure when the changes were made, or what was changed, but it most certainly was.
I would not repurchase this simply because there is not anything special or unique about this. Not because its bad in any way.
I will try a few more testers when I can, to see if it was just that batch…and will update later.

Day two of trying “Black Pearls”……beginning to think this ia a keeper…With this one I was really expecting a tropical floral with a sandalwood base because of the reviews here. I am coming to realize just how much of an individual experience perfume can be. I really smell NO florals here, and just a hint of a synthetic peach, which on me evaporates immediately. On my skin this smells of STRONG SWEET powdery cinnamon/vanilla/spice . Not something I would reach for normally..ever….but it does have a clean baby-powder scent, that MAYBE could feel somewhat comforting…if sprayed VERY LIGHTLY onto a tissue then carefully dabbed on just a few pulse points…. it has some hint of a masculine tone in-spite of its intense sweetness…(like just a hint of 1970’s Jovan musk). I could see being happy to wear this on a cold winter night curled up with a blanket & a cup of hot something…..why am I remembering my grandson??
    Update:
I’ve nailed it! To me this smells like Johnson’s baby-shampoo…ON STEROIDS (perfume strength).Just SO SWEET, and not really something I want to smell like. Kept hoping for a sandalwood dry-down,but NADA.Maybe it will smell better in winter!!

OH HOW I LOVE FRAGRANCE! So just received this as a blind buy. On first spritz a blast of sweet powder, rose and cinnamon. Very spicy, I’m not noting any gardenia…only spice/incense 3minutes in . I love gardenia & white florals, so a bit disappointed. Its only been five minutes so my final decision is a few hours away! Initially the scent is sweeter than I usually appreciate, and unfortunately this reminds me A LOT of a fragrance my Ex -husband used to wear called “Lagerfeld”(Karl Lagerfeld)… I always thought it was way too feminine for a mens cologne! Now I’m wondering if it will be too masculine for me at dry-down…. hummmmmmm. It also reminds me of EL Cinnabar…though no cinnamon is listed in the notes. I MIGHT use this to layer with florals if the dry down turns out to be appealing, I’m hoping for sandalwood to come through. Clearly a quality scent based on my criteria for strength, longevity & silage. Im not getting any peach or florals yet… unfortunate about the association with the EX….if this doesn’t change, it will l find a nice place at the thrift store…and SOMEONE will be VERY HAPPY…because this is clearly a fragrance formulated to last.

“Elizabeth Taylor. Black Pearls” what a whopping perfume one finds oneself in immediately when the initial spritz(es) are done. I always also immediately have an opinion then and there (moon in scorpio) and this is one hell of a sophisticated yet tigress of a perfume. It gives that ‘Beverly Hills-vibe’ as Giorgio, Gale Hayman. Beverly Hills, Red and Fred Haymans ‘237’ did and still do. Like ‘Knowing’ give a Madison Ave radiation and Poison and Coco bring one walking along Avenue Montaigne. The first spritz (it were three) actually still are lasting (3 hours) and I am in heaven. The perfume seemed to spread like a chemical agent in the room which it annexed. My perfume-career started in the 70s so I was lucky to have sniffed all the 80s hooker perfumes and enjoying them to the fullest, as also the remnants of the old perfumes, all with forbidden toxins which made them so heavenly. Perfume is perfume, I am with Donatella Versace, if you want ‘less’, go to the groceries or the gal/boy next door. “More is more as far as I am concerned”. Unfortunately Versace has trouble to transform this adagium to their own perfumial releases. And this, after ‘Blonde’ and ‘V’e’ ! Well Elizabeth has stolen my heart, first with ‘Passion’ and now with Black Pearls. It is rather a powdery perfume. Oriza L.Legrand-powdery. As someone remarked: there must be orris, iris in it. Then the gardenia and rose are smashing. The waterlily. It is all well blended in what perhaps best is described as a flower-amberscent and yes, with tropical allusions. I love this perfume whole, with all the glitz and glamour. All the 80s ‘ladies’ (well) hold their ground against nichiste snobism and the oud invasion (which I love) (Dusita ‘Oudh Infini’). What a spectacular perfume. Liz we will never forget you.

I don’t want to be unfair when I say that I don’t like this. It’s not the brand, or the fact that it’s a celebrity scent… it just feels very scratchy and harsh. It dries down to a very warm, enjoyable sandalwood.

I am wearing vintage mini parfum. I think the top notes may have gone off. The bergamot has burned out. But, as it dries down it is powdery and smells of peach, sandalwood, musk, rose, gardenia and oakmoss. There’s a lot of amber and powder in the base. Huge orris. Very lovely vintage. There is not oakmoss listed in the notes, but it’s there. Same with iris or orris.

    5/5/18 Update #2
I know I called this tropical, but the right word to describe it is Exotic. Its funny, when I first smelled this I thought I didn’t prefer it but I really do love it and wear it at least once a week. I hope anyone who tries this can give it a few chances because it really grows on you.
    3/13/18 ***Update***
I was fortunate enough to get a great deal on a 3.3oz at an online store. Yesterday was my first day wearing as I had other fragrances I ordered to test out first. My initial thought when I first smelled it wasn’t a positive one. I didn’t take it to heart, because I had been smelling other perfumes and colognes. I know that first initial reaction, especially to a brand new bottle of perfume can be false.
Yesterday I took the cap off the bottle and smelled, and was intrigued with what lingered in the cap so I figured what the heck and sprayed my typical chest, and on both wrists/forearms. Like most ET fumes, the initial spray is strong and needs about 3-5 minutes to dry down a bit before you can start to appreciate the notes.
Upon initial blast, I am overwhelmed by a boozy peach and what I can only describe as that decomposing vegetation smell one gets in a swampy or pond/river area where there are water lily’s. As it dry’s down further, Its very sweet, the peach, gardenia, lotus and water lily really give it a heady sweetness, as the powdery-ness of the white rose starts to come through. I never really pick up the bergamot as an individual note, but it must lend to the tropical overseas vibe I get. This is not tropical nor aquatic by todays standards of pineapple and coconut or sea salt. Its a reminiscence of the air of a tropical place, that sweetness and vegetative pond water with a wisp of floral and citrus. The amber, musk, sandalwood base is absolutely divine, as it retains the sweetness of the top notes in the end.
All in all I really like it and am looking forward to wearing it in the summer, as Florida has been chilly due to all the Nor’easters going on up North. I was concerned my Husband wouldn’t care for it, but he really likes it! He smelled it about an hour after I sprayed, and did not complain of it being too powdery. I feel sophisticated and worldly when I wear this. I think this could be completely dressed up, or I could wear this in a bathing suit with a lovely sun dress or wrap. It is indeed iridescent and luminous like a black pearl. Keep and open mind when trying it, as it was released in 1996 and deserves a proper wear or two to be fully understood and appreciated.
***Original Post***One of my two last acquisitions I need to make in order to have collected all of the ET fumes. I’m glad there is still some mystery to this quest, as I am unsure what fragrance obsession I shall find myself upon once this comes to a close. I really like how some reviews call this tropical…I live in Florida and hope this is a summer time by the pool/at the beach/dinner in a sun dress sort of smell.

Bought this blind on clearance – and at $10/100mL, I still think I overpaid. Smells very powdery & old-lady-ish, and was basically gone in four hours (though in this case, that criticism was a benefit). To each their own, though, so hopefully someone’s going to get lucky at the local Sally Ann!

Didn’t buy perfumes for a long time and when I decided, that the moment of smelling something new have arrived – for some unexplainable reason I landed on Black Pearls.
BP is what I personally thought it will be, fits to the name, – dark gemstone with a changeable metal luster, that makes its sheen appear blends of green, gold, pink, lavender, and blue from various angles. They symbolize wealth, wisdom and prosperity and even though I will indulge myself in wearing this fragrance for a cozy evenings on the sofa, – if I would have a chance to wear black evening dress with pearl necklace – I will be wearing Black Pearls of Grojsman/Taylor as well. It smells posh, classy, intense, yet soft.
The smell is sweet peach with mellow gardenia, – fruity-floral not in a girly, but in a womanly dressy way. While some people perceive some leathery accords in it – to me it is more like suedy tonalities of orris root, that you can get from Grojsman’s Nude of Bill Blass as well. Drydown is like a calming body powder, more on a shiny lipstick side of smell, if to compare with Arden’s True Love, that would be more like a dry, rice face powder.
So, in a few words, – close to True Love and Nude (all Grojsmans), but while TL is for tea-parties, dinner with family and Nude for private dates, – Black Pearls is for evenings, going outs and such. Like it a lot.

I wouldn`t think of ET in general as for perfumes – I did buy a few sets as pressies in the past though for aunties, in-laws and mum/grandma: they were over the moon. But I got here by accident and the reviews here got me curious, so I ordered a bottle of this juice.
    And WOW!!!
This is a true `80s-90s powerhouse, with a twist. It`s heavy and heady, but NOT in `the old lady`-kinda way, not on me anyway..I must admit the first few moments were discouraging – bug repellent, etc. – but as it develops it becomes the best amber-sandalwood combo I`ve tried recently. It kind of falls between Rochas Femme and Prada Amber somehow, especially the drydown, after an hour of application. It`s rich, resinous/balsamic. No pepper or spices, yet it is potent. I get only a reminiscent of peach, as for flowers they appear and disappear quickly, and there is a leathery note also in the background, which makes it a bit masculine even – it wouldn`t even surprise me if lads would reach for this scent too! There is something else that makes it memorable, but I just can`t put my finger on it..some bittersweet note which pops up as you go along sniffing..a secret ingredient, maybe something to do with the black pearls..
All in all I find it a classic scent with a twist, defo a throwback 80-90s stuff, but an absolute value for money, if you want a good amber-sandalwood scent which is not watered-down or synthetic. Can`t understand how it`s not sold everywhere, it`s a gem. LOVE!

Wow, my opinion of this perfume has changed! Right after I bought it about a year ago, I could not see any appeal to it.
I have the current, reformulated version, I bought it at Sears. I haven’t seen it anywhere else for purchase in store, not online.
Black Pearls was not what I expected. I thought it would be similar to other strong, spicy orientals like Tabu or Coco.
I cannot speak to the original version of this perfume. But the clear bottle is something very special that needs time to grow on you. I thought this was a failed blind buy, but it is now one of my most loved fragrances. It has a summery, tropical vibe, love that!! It is unlike any other perfume I own or have sampled. Completely unique, difficult to describe, an acquired taste. This is now a thorough love, no doubts!

Smells like powder. A weak link in the E.Taylor chain of nice fragrances! I paid $9.00 at Target. Faceless and bland.

This is my latest Elizabeth Taylor acquisition in my growing collection of her glorious perfumes. I love the bottle it’s very sculptural and solid. Now for the juice, I get the ideas this is trying to convey. Black Pearls are from Polynesia mostly, so a island fruity floral with a woodsy oriental finish plays on that theme.
I feel once the initial blast of peach and powdered gardiena wear down it develops into an appealing soft amber/sandalwood aquatic floral scent. It’s warm and inviting, my partner even layed with his head on my chest on the couch this evening. He is the first to tell me a perfume is offensive so no comment is a good comment. Even though this fragrance has an island vibe I still feel it’s appropriate for cooler weather, it will let me escape to the warm waters during these frosty Canadian winter nights. I picked this up at Rexall pharmacy, $19.99 for 100mL they have a few ET and Elizabeth Arden discontinued gems there right now.

@risarri I would have to say no, peach is not in all of her fragrances, it’s not in gardenia or in white diamonds so I don’t know where you even got that information.

I believe Peach is in all of Elizabeth Taylor’s fragrances. She must have adored it since it was a big part of one of her favorite perfumes, Femme Rochas.
This fragrance is very warm and womanly, not girly or light. Excellent quality and longevity. Elizabeth Taylor’s line really is a collection of rare jewels among the mere pebbles at the drugstore. A celebrity line with high quality!

the peach in this killed it for me. Peach is an interesting note to use in fragrances because it’s either a hit or miss I don’t know if I got a bad bottle but something was not right about it. I will even take white diamonds over this one.

All I smell is a sun tan lotion with a strong plastic note. Not my cup of tea.

I pick up a whole lot of powderiness to this. For about the first half hour after applying this, it smells like someone blasted a bottle of baby powder up my nose. The powderiness does settle somewhat, but is always front and center, not picking up anything else, really. I might pick up a slight touch of sandalwood and a mere hint of rose as this dries down but that powdery note stays so very strong all throughout the day for me.
I am jealous of those who can rock this one. For me, this never gets past that powdery/dusty/musty scent.

I bought the new version as a blind buy and my God does it ever stink!
All I get is this horrible honey smell mixed with something else and it never changes!
Sadly, I must not have the right chemistry for it….
    Worst 20 bucks I ever spent 🙁

What else positive can be said, had this for a quite a while, still having never found any fragrances that thrill me as much as Liz made during her lifetime. Though connected in the middle it seems, aside from Gardenia (Being a male,Liz fragrance fan, gardenia is the only one a step too far…lol), the two sides of her fragrances…the spice and the soft seem to be workable by me upon the correct mood. This scent to me, fits into the spice side. White Diamonds, Diamonds and Rubies, and Passion. This fits nicely into those flankers. It doesn’t come across nearly as hot as WD and D&R but settles into a very nice warm and sultry place. With fewer notes, the full experience remains the same throughout the lifetime of the application, in a very good way. Thankfully, the Gardenia note is muted imo and doesn’t make this scent unwearable by a man, unlike the namesake “Gardenia” itself. More a floral oriental than the other warm side fragrances, but not as soft as the soft side ones like Violet Eyes, Brilliant or Sparkling, or even Forever. (All of which I adore and well very well in my softer moods). All in all Black Pearls is a wonderful fragrance and I’ll always keep a bottle around.

The dry down of this perfume on skin is powdery and timeless. It truly is a perfume masterpiece that you could wear anytime. The water lily and lotus notes are not noticeable and blend in perfectly with the rose and peach. I was initially afraid to try this perfume, but ET proved me wrong again. This perfume transports me to a wooden ship in the Polynesian waters; wearing black pearls. It is some magical stuff. I am highly impressed with this gem.

When my mother passed away I received her large bottle of Black pearls and I’ve worn for years and it hasn’t turned but I do keep it in a dark cool place . With my body chemistry this smells very close to Shalimar on me I even get the slight leathery scent topped off with the musky vanilla scent . I also got her bottle of Shalimar and I compared and asked my daughter’s opinion and she agreed with me .. I’m almost finished with my mom’s Black Pearls and I’m about to order another bottle I wear it because I love it but also because it reminds me of my mother who really appreciated a good perfume and although I’m sad her bottle will be finished I know she’s happy it didn’t ruin and get thrown away .

I have the new version. I love the opening which is raspberry amber velvet plushness. Then it goes downhill within a few minutes into a cloying annoyance. Even with the beautiful opening, the reform did not trigger my memory like I hoped it would. It is nothing like my memory of the vintage, which I haven’t smelled it almost 20 years. The original was a pearly peach with beautiful haunting soapiness in a fur coat, at least in my memory. I really wish I could smell the original again. It was one of my favorites in the late 90’s when I worked at the perfume counter and could barely afford rent and shoes and couldn’t actually buy any of my favorites (we employees only received a measly 15% discount there). I wonder if maybe I remember Black Pearls incorrectly though, and it was mixed in with the other scents we were spraying, and it is better for me if the original scent simply remains in my perception of what it was. It is thrilling in my memory.

Hello from Deco Dawn this is my review of Elizabeth Taylor Black Pearls. Beautiful packaging & fabulous ‘Art Deco’ clamshell designed bottle with gold lid with Black Pearl on the top. Top notes burst of peach very dry opening I would class as a Classic Chypre, pronounced ‘sheepray’ very sensual stays very close to the skin. Floriental, So ideal after dark and intimate moments. A ‘grown up’ scent for a ‘real’ woman, this is not a girly scent at all. It’s rather solumn and serious & a little sad.Nothing funny about it and it doesn’t say ‘happy’. I would say ideal in situations when a more subdued scent is required. I own Passion, White Diamonds, Diamonds and Rubies and now Black Pearls. I am also going to buy ‘Gardenia’. Elizabeth Taylor fragrances are amazing value, all individual and well crafted. After much research I have not found out ‘The nose’ for this Scent, I believe personally due to the notes and formulation it is Jacques Polge, of Diva Emanuel Ungaro fame from 80s and of course previously Head of Chanel Perfumes for 35 years. All in all I am very impressed. An ideal all year round scent & particularly Autumn/Winter as warm, rich and spicy dry down of Sandlewood, Musk and Vanilla Try it you will love it. Dry down is very similar to Chanel Allure.
WARNING: Do NOT over spray! Just one on wrist and 1 on neck is more than sufficient. I unfortunately sprayed loads on today and it took 2 hours to calm down and went straight to the back of my throat.
Update – After wearing for 24 hours and applying sparingly this morning only 1 spray to wrist and neck I am delighted with this sensual fragrance. It really is ‘as near as damn it’ a copy of Chanel Allure which retails in the UK for £105.00 for 100ml bottle. Do not be put off by the low price of Black Pearls it is incredible and fantastic value for money. Well done to the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor her memory lives on.

Honestly speaking I was expecting richness of Passion. the week I ordered it I was imagining it as a very strong type of vintagy.
Straight from my work I took a shower and I ate dinner and time came to open the fragrance.
I was afraid/hesitate to put it on my tshirt.
    I have sprayed the box.
I closed my eyes I was in big shock its smells like this.
Right away I saw Kolobrzeg/Poland and beautiful town in north by Baltic Sea.
I was in so big shock. I saw exactly the last walk with my mom and my brother.
I remember my mom took me there to show us the waves during the storm.
I will never forget this tall big waves hitting the bridge.
It could be somewhere in the end oh 80’s.
The waves smelled so nice.. and wet bridge too with the rain…
And this is where this scent have taken me…
We were living in the house next to paper manufacture not too far from the Sea… and this is… how I remember this area… this is what this scent is reminding me…
30 min ago… I was in big shock…why I actually have this fragrance… I saw a seashell but.. I haven’t expected this Sea feeling and memories it will wake up in me. While I was buying it… I said what what a pretty bottle… love it…but actually what amazing… surprise.. that first 30 seconds after applying it….I saw exactly this Town next to Baltic….I am not saying its smells like the sea breeze…no but it has something in it….scent of that wet bridge during… the storm…
Later next day after… I was walking under this bridge and I was finding pretty amber stones… and their scent were… like in this fragrance in some notes…..
Wet salty sand… with ambers and seashells.
    ….
Now its 50 min after I have sprayed it on my top and I see similarity to Allure in some souernes…. please don’t… laugh.. but this sour feeling I am getting reminds me old formulas of Guerlain- not sure which one… Jacky? Mitsouko?
This scent smells to me as well …so opposite to sea… and ambers…- desert. Where…in hatta Oman. Especially in the rainy days… this is how the sand smells to me…
In my opinion this perfume is formulated in really unique way.
How come… I see a Sea and later I am taken with my scent memory to the Emirates/ Oman border in rainy day?
This is the scent of middle east. It has some … oriental vibes… maybe that’s why.. reminds me… first formula of Guerlain.. his perfumes… were … inspired by far.. far East… and this is how I feel it in Black Pearls.
It’s not about… scent of oriental perfumes and spices.. it’s a very specific…scent.. of…bedouin tant.
In rainy… day somewhere in the middle of the desert.
What is interesting a lot of… Elizabet’s perfumes… are taking me exactly over there… Middle East.
I can’t explain why.. but I do travel often there… and to me this fragrance smells exactly how – the desert/ sand…stays in my memory.
Because this perfume gave me so many memories and pictures in my head, it deserves for special place.
Reminds me my mother, our amazing time during this incredible afternoon back to my times in Poland… and now it took me to desert.
How come I have no idea.
How technically one perfume can take me to stormy Baltic Sea… and couple minutes later… I am in Hatta Oman .. in the middle of sand… pure… sand…
Black Pearls you are so special.
Especially because I do appreciate Guerlain first formulas- and this scent has a lot of common with it…
Love the unique … tones of sour nature of this.. perfume…incredible –
    green lemons/citruses/oakmoss …as Pierre-François Guerlain… used to add to his …perfumes…
When I talk Guerlain I see an old bottle of Shalimar- by Jacques Guerlain…
Definitely Black Pearls and Passion is my fav.

Black Pearl is beautiful parfum from Elizabeth Taylor. In Russia this fragrance ok is cheap but smell so good. I have the eau de parfum spray bottle is glass bottle. To me this smell like Tocade by Rochas and is a summer time parfum of fruit and flower. The fruit I smell in the beginning when I put the perfume on my skin is gardenia with peach. Smell tropical like jasmine or gardenia white flower and peach apricot juice. Delicious and fresh you know very juicy fruity. There are other flower like rose and lotus. Slowly the parfum become like powder with a softness for women. When the parfum is dry I smell musk and tobacco sandalwood amber and vanilla. Black Pearl parfum is a good warm musk balsamic ? is what they say and like syrup. Juicy and fruity flower. This is a gorgeous parfum to wear in the day time or night time for party in halter top dress cocktail dress or evening dress. Beautiful. My mother also wear this parfum but she live in Russia. I visit her every year and bring her parfum from the US. I will try other Elizabeth Taylor parfums this year. She is a really good perfume maker and actress!

I normally do not give negative reviews, but this perfume had really terrible opening notes… smelled like nail polish remover. Yes, it eventually dries down to a nice warm scent. But that opening is too terrible to bear. Was this re-formulated incorrectly or something? I got clear bottle version. too bad about this as I like (and own) most all ET other products.

The idea seems to be this: White Diamonds Equals Good Girl Debutante Socialite but Black Pearls Equals Bad Girl Wicked City Woman Party Girl Flapper.
Black Pearls is as far from White Diamonds as possible. This is a very sultry, exotic perfume. It throws up a lot of different notes that don’t really go together but turn into a dark vanilla smoky tobacco and alcohol. It smells like booze and cigarettes. There’s a lot going on here. The opening is fresh with citrus a note of bergamot orange. The citrus passes quickly but it’s zesty and invigorating. The delicious fruit top notes also consist of melon and peach. This peach turns ripe and quite juicy like it literally turns into a peach bellini. I thought it was festive like an Italian pool party. It made me visualize Alexis Colby from Dynasty (Joan Collins) in like a halter top dress in white and a large sunhat sipping a peach bellini drink on a yacht. This is very much a kind of subdued Giorgio Beverly Hills type of scent – including a white floral gardenia note – and booziness. It’s expensive smelling with a decadent flair. This is old money but with a saucy new money attitude.
Normally I don’t care for florals but this is more than just a floral. The notes of rose, jasmine, gardenia water lily and lotus are exquisite. It starts off with water lily and watery notes and lotus, a distinctive Oriental lotus with a sweetness that is very touching. It does have a sweet middle stage with a white rose and white jasmine (typical white florals) and gardenia. The white florals are a bit on the tropical side as well. There’s amber that glues everything together and holds it well. The florals are feminine and mature (even for me) but it’s so unlike anything in the fragrance realm of our current times that it is refreshing to even wear this as a statement perfume. This is more grandiose than I thought. I really loved it. My friend in Manhattan wears this and let me borrow it. I loved it then bought it on Amazon.com. The one selling there is in a glass crystal bottle clear glass and it’s a spray.
The dry down is smoky, vanilla, and musk. There’s amber and sandalwood, Oriental notes, and it lasts a very long time. This is more of an evening perfume and has a classiness that seems suited to formal wear but can be semi formal, definitely for parties in the summer. Black Pearls is for Louise Brooks, Ava Gardner, Gloria Swanson, Marlene Dietrich, you know those divas who had sex appeal and a bite! A beautiful floral Oriental with more going on than meets the eye or nose. If you like Liz Taylor perfumes especially Passion you should like this. This one and Passion are the fragrances in her line I like the most. A sumptuous rich fragrance for the woman who models at least her fragrances after the one and only Elizabeth Taylor.

For me, Black Pearls was a blind buy of sorts. Many years back I’d sniffed it and wished I purchased it. Looking at reviews here and elsewhere I decided to find a frosted bottle original version.
A few weeks ago the box came with both the frosted bottle full size spray and a miniature. Excitedly, I sprayed. And I instantly disliked it.
Why? I detected no peach, no sandalwood, nothing but stickily sweet, sour honey, like a pancake made with sourdough bread. My first thought was, “OH how I’ve wasted my money” and my second thought was to scrub it off. But I didn’t and so….
Allowed to develop, Black Pearls’ amber, rose, and musk grow softer, warmer, less cloying, and utterly unique among the scents on wrists and clothes at the malls and the cafes today.
Still, I wouldn’t and don’t reach for it. The ET I want and have and wear quite often is PASSION. I guess I’m not much for fruit and flowers and more about incense and woods.

If you put Amber + Baby Powder together = voila: Black Pearls!
It is Very comforting. I am not sure it is for everyone or how it compares to the original
Formulation, but I like it, and it lasts a long time for me.
    God Bless!

Based on the reviews for this one, I had high hopes. Which were dashed. It smelled so good. For about five minutes. Then nothing. Nothing at all. Why, oh why? The same thing happened to me with Diva. Is it me or is it the reforms?
I gave BP to my four year old granddaughter. She is a budding perfume freak. I like to think I passed on my perfume freak genes to her. We are bonding over our mutual love of perfume. Isn’t that great!? She loves everything! That’s okay for now. BP smells amazing on her, ambery, warm spicy, the way I wished it had smelled on me. Her mom’s roommate (a guy) said to her “you smell old lady” I told him to shut up he doesn’t know a damn thing about women’s scents and to stick to his Azzaro’s, not that there’s anything wrong with them. And I also told my granddaughter not to listen to him, he doesn’t know a damn thing about women’s fragrances. BP on her makes me want to squeeze her really tight! It loves her, it just doesn’t love me!

I own Black Pearls and I’m glad I do… But I admittedly don’t wear it very often. I have to really be in the mood for it to tolerate it’s strength and persistence. The opening is the hard part. However, if you can stay afloat through the choppy, treacherous waters of its abrasive initial blast, the storm that is its beginning will calm and its true beauty will emerge. You really have to trust your own chemistry with this one and hold off on the desire to scrub your wrists with a Brillo pad! lol
Now, when it does reach its dry down destination, it is pretty amazing! Boozy, rich, daring and confident maturity are terms that come to mind with this fragrance. Notice I said MATURE and not “Old lady” (I HATE that description, what does it even mean?!?) please understand that by confidently mature I mean it smells like a woman who knows what she l
