Tried it today and it is NOT the same as the original Black Opium at all. I would say not even close, even though looking at identical notes it may seem so. It is much less sweet and more woody. To me it seemed like a bit stale and moldy scent, I didn’t like it at all, but then I love the original Black Opium so it just might be the matter of personal taste. I don’t understand how they have same notes, but different scents. Maybe some mistake?

I Love this just for The Bottle alone it’s SO Art Deco Like something out of The Roaring 20’s!!

I hope it will still be available when I run out of my regular Black Opium, because that bottle is a masterpiece. I mean WOW, congrats YSL.

I have to say that the print on the bottle reminds me of some Matrix – comics – super heros and I would find it interesting if it was launched back in 1999-2000.
When I see it is like a millenium edition.
It smells like the original Black Opium but in a different packaging. An LTD one.
    Cheerioz…

Sorry but I just tried it at sephora in Paris, and I find it different from edp..it is less gourmand, it has a fruity floral undertone, and whereas edp has a strong coffee base, Illusion is lighter in the dry down, and fresher..the saleslady confirmed to me it was a different scent..I like this one much better , it isnt as linear..The orange blossom also gives it a nicer overall tone..,I hardly detect licorice either….nice version !!
the bottle looks great ! Quite liking it!

    This from Fragrantica’s news today:
“…a new, limited (collector) flacon while the fragrance composition remains unchanged.”
As I (and others) have pointed out, this is exactly the same fragrance in a different bottle. I love Black Opium, but… Seriously? How many people are going to buy this JUST for the bottle? Or am I deluded?

    What a beautiful bottle! Wow!
I have not smelt this yet as its not out where I am yet but I have a feeling that with the added licorice note this could end up smelling like a sweeter version of Hypnotic Poison.

@Bruno57 – did you check the notes etc. out before saying “The name, the notes, the bottle… Everything is (or seems to be) absolutely ridiculous and cheap!”?
The only fragrances which regularly get a positive review by you are by Britney Spears. I also read one in which you compliment Paris Hilton’s ads for her perfumes! However, you complain about the designer houses producing “syrupy-sweet” perfumes and too many flankers… Hmmmm.
But, back to Black Opium Pure Illusion: Notes and noses are exactly the same as the original – if Fragrantica has the correct information, this would appear to be a limited edition bottle.

Yes, it’s a collectors bottle. The scent is the regular Black Opium.

I did a search on this and some websites are saying that it’s the same juice only the bottle is different. Can anyone offer any clarification? Thanks
