I don’t know why, but I can’t smell this one at all!

I recently acquired this little number for veeeery cheap price, so I thought what the hay I need to shower in a bit so no harm will be done. Whoa thank goodness for the warm soapy loveliness of a good shower. I gave it a while I really did but I had to run to the shower I could not take it anymore. I apologize in advance to others that enjoy this fragrance but….this is really really bad. Idk if it’s my skin’s chemistry or what but all the notes listed says that I should love this but I do not. This to me smells like a really heavy hairspray and idk what that sweet syrupy thing it has goin is supposed to be but it does not work here. Sun tan lotion with syrup and flowers thrown together that’s what this smells like. And the juice itself is almost oily on the skin so I’m sure that it will last. It’s definitely a sillage monster in my book. I can see this being that obnoxious smell in the office that makes you not want to be around the person wearing it. Again if this works for you kudos but on me, its nauseating and gross tbh. I’m glad that I didn’t pay but pocket change for it because I wouldn’t want to even give this to anyone I know because I wouldn’t want to smell it again and I hope I never do. Sorry Bijan but this is not good.

I’ve had a large bottle of VIP for a few years, but I haven’t put much of a dent in it. It’s definitely not something that I could wear every day, yet every time I wear it, I enjoy this very unusual skin-scent.
To me, it is liquid Jujubes. I have always loved the smell and taste of these little US candies, which are to me very musky, perfumey, and synthetic. From Wikipedia, “Jujubes, known for their hard, break-glass quality texture, began production in 1920. Original flavors included lilac, violet, rose, spearmint, and lemon. Rose and spearmint have been changed to cherry and lime, as a result of flavor availability. Thus, the current flavor lineup is lemon (yellow), lilac (orange), lime (green), cherry (red), and violet (purple).”
So is VIP signature-worthy? No,not for me, but it’s fun to wear occasionally. Added bonus: my husband told me that I smelled good this morning.

Ι guess Bijan’s perfumes are just not meant for me. I can see the similarity to the One by D & G. It starts as a burnt rubber or burnt gummi candies to be more precise. After a while the burning scents fades and you have plum. Maybe indeed has a vibe from liquorice candies, but not the nice one! Unfortunately it doesn’t evolute more at my skin. It is unique in its own way. I would never make it my signature scent, but I wouldn’t make The One either. Well, I will try it back at summer and if I don’t change my mind, another gift for my bestie I guess, who loves The One.

Goes on mildly harsh and slightly synthetic, but dries down rapidly to something really, really nice. Smells very much like D&G’s The One upon dry down. Similar enough that I fear it’s redundant for me to have both. Surprising sillage and longevity for the price. I think it’s difficult to nail down the genre easily just like The One. (I explain what I mean better in my review of The One re: fragrance families.)

Received this one as a swap (Thank you Lavallectra!). I really like this one. Gotta say – the bottle is hideous! Especially with the lid on!Lol! Wasn’t sure what to expect with this, since it has a plum note – I would’ve thought I’d love plum but so far I haven’t found anything with plum that has set my senses on fire (and some have even been repellant!). That said, my first spray I thought “what have I done?!” but I left it to settle then went for a drive. Could not stop smelling my arm! I have to spray quite a bit in order to smell it on myself (but that’s ok I have a 75ml and a lot of other frags to get through too!). I think I could wear this one at work as long as I don’t douse myself in it. A winner.

The first time I wore this I sprayed it over me a few times… I liked the opening and middle notes, but then the amber hit me like a brick wall. Normally I like amber but it was just too much in this case. Nevertheless, I decided to spray it on -lightly- this morning, and wore it through Sydney’s springtime weather today (humid 31C/89F) and it was gorgeous. The amber balanced out with sweet vanilla-plum and tiare, and I was still smelling it in the evening.
Thanks to jdokicfan for the swap! 🙂

Love this one! Although it’s a bit synthetic, like all Bijan perfumes, it’s a soft, deep and slightly sweet skin scent. It’s stays close to the skin so for me it’s a little bit too weak. I like my perfumes loud and strong because i love to smell my perfume all day long. That’s when you are an addict you will never have enough LOL. But a good one and stands out in the crowd because it smells different not so oridinary.

I like this fragrance, but i wish it smelt on me like it does just smelling the bottle. On me the amber is so overpowering! I still like it though, everyone needs a woody fragrance in their collection.

I bought this for just under £8,a blind buy gone wrong. The bottle reminds me of these jelly sweets we have here in England that are shaped like a babies dummy. As for the VIP,in this instance it stands for Very Invisible Perfume, lol!

Hmm, not sure about this one at the moment! Like some of the reviewers below, I bought this as a blind buy when I saw it being sold on a UK website the other day for a great price which was pretty irresistible! Having said that, some of the Bijan perfumes I’ve tried so far haven’t massively impressed me, although I think they’re nice for the price, and certainly don’t smell cheap, but they’re just not necessarily right for me.
Anyway, my bottle of VIP arrived yesterday and I was so excited to try it for the first time …. one of the perks of buying blind! At first whiff and spritz I was surprised at how powdery it was — very much like a high-end talcum powder. I was on the fence at this point and didn’t hate it but wasn’t crazy about it either. Then the orange seemed to totally take over and drown out anything else, which was disappointing because orange isn’t one of my favorite perfume notes and I was hoping that I would barely be able to smell it! So, on my skin it’s very orangey fruity and quite powdery. The sillage is pretty good and the staying power is so-so but it had totally faded from my skin by the following morning (it lingered on my clothes though).
For anyone who loves powdery perfumes and perhaps ‘orange’ perfumes VIP might be ideal. For me though I think it’s a perfume I’d wear occasionally but wouldn’t crave to wear too often. It certainly doesn’t make me as happy to wear this as the male Bijan Nude fragrance does – I really like that and it’s become a go-to fragrance for me. I’ll give VIP more time though so I might update this review at some point!
I’d give VIP 3 out of 5 for the smell, and ditto for sillage and staying power.

I was shocked to be reminded of Tiffany when I tried a new blind buy…Bijan VIP.
Yes, to my nose this was so close to Tiffany’s scent, and could it be that a $6.55 2.5 oz bottle could duplicate my beloved (but expensive – currently averages about $200 for a 1.7 on ebay) Tiffany? Well I had to research the notes, and here are the similarities:
Both open with Black currant and mandarin
Middle notes share Lily & Jasmine, while Tiffany has several others like violet & Ylang – VIP has Tiare
Base notes share Amber & vanilla, while Tiffany has sandalwood & vetiver – VIP has musk
Overall, they are quite close in composition, and on my chemistry smell almost identical. I share this so others who have loved Tiffany and choose not to spend hundreds on it may have a ridiculously inexpensive alternative that is still a high quality fume. For under $10 it is well worth the gamble.

This was a blind buy for me. Ordered a 2.5 fl. oz. EDT spray for $4.72. I must say it smells delicious! Smells extremely tropical. Lots of vanilla, then caramel or coconut (must be the amber or the musk), and sweet flowers. When it dries down, I smell more sweet vanilla. It’s somewhat similar to Coty’s Vanilla Fields, but stronger. And more like Avon’s Far Away with more vanilla. Great for a cool, sunny tropical day or an evening walk on the beach and as an everyday fragrance for whenever. My only disappointment is – the bottle I ordered (came in a sealed wrapped new package) did not come with the signature keepsake charm around the neck of the bottle. I guess I’m not missing anything for it says on the back of the package to ‘remove the keepsake charm prior to use’. So I guess they’re just making the bottles now without the charm. And for $4.72 I guess I’m really not missing anything at all and like I said, it smells delicious! 🙂

I love Bijan VIP. It is reminiscent of the power fragrances of the 80’s and early 90’s. It is not overly sweet, yet has a lovely combination of fruit scents delicately laced with just a hint of musk. VIP is wonderful fragrance for evenings, but if worn lightly it could transition to office wear with ease.

THIS is a strong one! I prefer heavy hitters, I really do. But the black amber is the the strongest I have ever smelled in a perfume. I am going to try it layered with musk to see if I can soften it a little. But the perfume as it is is very strong, not for the under 30 crowd, a like but not a love. If you love Bijan original, it is highly possible this perfume will disappoint you.
    Happy Perfuming!

This perfume smells really, really bad. Incredibly strong, in the worst way, and the second I spray it I get a headache and nausea. The bottle is pretty though.

After so many positive reviews on Fragrantica about Bijan VIP I have decided to go with a blind buy. That was a huge mistake. This perfume is very very synthetic. A lots of vanilla.. artificial vanilla. Can’t smell any flowers. It’s just waaaay to sweet & heavy. Sorry, all fans of this perfume but Bijan VIP smells cheap. I put so much hope in it but instead got such a disappointment.

    Blind Buy gone gloriously right:
When I first tried this I didn’t think that I’d liked it – my oh my how happy I am that i kept it and gave it a chance.
Heavens how I love this scentI almost feel compelled to wear it on a daily basis despite the fact that I have other choices.. Bijan VIP is definitely a feel good fragrance, spicy floral with sweet creamy undertones. This scent is sweetly sexy. The mandarin orange, distinct from the very beginning is very uplifting and blends well with the plum, I barely pick up the blackcurrant but i get ramdom wiffs of it that I think adds to the dimension of the perfume. As it dries down it only gets better, it becomes an amber floral mix of sweetness and succulence that wraps itself around you and around those closest to you.
The silage isn’t amazing it’s somewhat of a skin scent although there are occasions when people around me smell it so maybe the silage is better than I give it credit for being.
The lasting power is so so probably 2 – 5 hours tops (but that’s to do with my body chemistry since more often than not my skin eats perfume). The scent itself is wonderful, warm, intoxicating and inviting. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love it, somehow it always manages to make me smile.

Bijan V.I.P is a great scent. Opens up with plum and white flowers and softens down to amber, musk and vanilla. Just so sweet I can stand – I like it a lot. Great every-day-scent. I think this one is a bit similar to D&G The One – not in topnote but after 30 minutes they are a lot alike. Basenote gives a hint of powder – very nice.

Bijan VIP for women was one of my latest blind buys. I love gourmand scents so I thought it would make a great addition to my small collection. It does, indeed!
Very nice, I enjoy wearing it – it is a real feel-good fragrance to me. Most prominent notes are jasmin and tiare, accompanied by some juicy plum and a hint of vanilla. Not too sweet, in fact I expected something a little bit more traditionally gourmand (I`m more used to Pink Sugar-style sugar overloads) so to me VIP is on the sweetened floral side but I`m loving it!
Great for spring. I would recommend it for daytime wear only because sillage and longevity are both moderate.
My 75 ml bottle is slightly clumsy and chunky but I love the colours! 🙂
    Good value for the price.
I think it is recommendable for those who don`t normally like sugary, overly sweet gourmands – VIP is a safely sweet, floral delight and is worth trying.

I really like this scent…I was a little nervous about another blind buy…But this one was a good buy.If you like scents like Casmir,Hypnotic Poison,Kenzo Amour,or Yves Rocher’s Vanille Noire, you might like this one. It’s a warm cozy type of scent.

Blind buy gone right for a change!
The opening smelled floral and I wasn’t so sure I was going to like it …but after about 10 minutes it smelled very good! This one is creamy and sensual as others have suggested. Warm, creamy, spicy, amber and currants in the dry down. From the bottle (which is pretty cool, by the way!) I thought it might be strong, but this is more of a skin scent on me. A GREAT buy at $14 from amazon with free shipping!
This is my first Bijan but probably won’t be my last.

I like VIP. It’s a warm, sensual fragrance that reminds me a little of Dior’s Addict (one of my top favorites) because of the mandarin and vanilla. But there’s a synthetic smell to VIP which is a turn-off to me, so for that reason I won’t wear it. It would be a better fragrance if the ingredients were of higher quality. Does anyone know if the current VIP is a reformulation? I’d like to know if there is an original formula that smells less synthetic. I guess you get what you pay for, and for the price (about $15 for a 3.4 oz bottle on ebay), VIP is not bad. Longevity is very good – it passes the “overnight” test, like Action says below. The ring shaped VIP bottles with the hole in the middle are fun (but the plastic top a bit tacky).

Bijan V.I.P is a smooth, creamy and dreamy berried fragrance with a slight woody nuttiness and a light but pretty floral addition. It is sweet but not very gourmand, just barely. It has a nice sillage that isn’t overpowering and lasts well. I do like it but it isn’t a love for me. I can see it being worn anytime but also agree with it being a great bed-time scent. Something about it is just relaxing and perfect for snuggling. It’s just a very mellow and “chill” fragrance. LOL! XD So, if you are looking for a scent that is softly sweet, fruity, well blended and lasts then this would be a nice choice. Don’t be fooled by the cheap price, this is a good buy and it doesn’t smell cheap, artificial or synthetic! ;’)

    GORGEOUS!

I can’t really explain it, but this scent smelled mildly nutty on me…something close to almond, but it wasn’t sweet. It was mellow and nutty, and it was nothing else. I didn’t get any flowers or fruits or vanilla or musk. Just a subtle nutty scent. Chemistry can do the darned-est things!
I agree with soniamcalear that it could be a good bed-time scent.

Hmmm… if I had a girlfriend, she’d own VIP. SeXy… I’d keep my head buried in her neck anytime she’s got this on. It certainly lives up to it’s category. Floral-Fruity-Gourmand. Why couldn’t the men’s be a gourmand? However, no complaints.

  33. :

Really nice mellow scent! I prefer my scents to be stronger but this will be nice after a hot shower and crawl into bed and enjoy the softness of this compared to the original bijan-they have nothing in common as far as power scent.

I just love this perfume! I smelled it in the store and the first thing I thought of was rose. How odd! Rose is not a note in this! It smelled just like a powerful more juicy Rock ‘N Rose Pret a Porter! After I got it home and wore it the next day I thought maybe I just smelled it wrong, but no, there it was… Rockin Rose Viva La Juicy Bijan VIP and slight M Mariah! haha
VIP is juicy fruits, sweet florals, slightly tropical and oddly a bit grassy at first…. wouldn’t have caught that if my mom hadn’t of said “I smell a grassy note like in Covets” That was right after I sprayed it. Luckily that disappears pretty quickly, not sure what note it is. The bottom mingles with the top and middle instead of dominating adding perfect warmth and creaminess. Lasting power is amazing and I actually think the bottle is cute.

I have been on a Bijan kick today. This is the winner!! It does have gormand qualities but is not overly fruity or sweet. It has this light succulent essence to it. The plum and black current make this perfume an outstanding fruity scent while the mandarin adds this nice kick of freshness. The vanilla and amber are present in the dry down and add a soft and silky like texture to the perfume. The lily of the valley and jasmine don’t really add to the scent instead the tiare flower is the primary star adding the floral edge to the perfume making it a well rounded sweet light gormand fragrance. Wonderful, I will be hiding what scent I’m wearing when I flaunt this one!
