Description

Belle by Worth is presented in the couture house’s original, octagonal weighty glass bottle, which is inscribed with the W of the House of Worth. The bottle is topped with a sustainable wooden cap which is finished in metallic pearl and features the word “Belle” engraved in gold by master calligrapher Bernard Maisner. The fragrance is packaged within a hollowed out book, taking its inspiration from Belle‘s love of reading, and available in three collectable colors – chartreuse, crimson red and navy blue.

Belle by Worth is the first fragrance to be created and distributed worldwide by Akita Brands, with the aim of raising awareness of conscious beauty in the 21st Century and supporting global powerhouses with vegan, cruelty free and provenance-conscious beauty products.

“When you mix a creative talent such as Charles Frederick Worth, the first couturier who revolutionized the fashion industry and single-handedly created the modern brand, together with Disney, a natural evolution was to create a rebellious rose fragrance inspired by today’s ‘rebelles'” states Akita Brandsfounder, Nikita Mehta.

Belle by Worth, an enduring fragrance, with a secret, shared message of wisdom and empowerment at its core, is here to inspire a new generation to read. dream. believe.” – a note from the brand.

    PROLOGUE
Once upon a time in a far away land a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind. But then one winter’s night an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single ROSE in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances for beauty is found within. When he dismissed her again, the old woman’s ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize but it was tool late for she had seen that there was no love in his heart.
As punishment, she transformed the prince into a hideous BEAST and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the Beast concealed himself inside his castle with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an ENCHANTED ROSE which would bloom until his 21st birthday. If he could learn to love another and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. If not he would be doomed to remain a Beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope.
For who could ever learn to love a Beast
Belle is a pretty little floral perfume, or rather a fruity floral, from Worth and not the Disney line. This is not for everybody but it is definitely my cup of tea. I’m a Disney princess fan and I have been employed as various Disney Princesses for Disney Cruises Florida and Disney World. This was not as engaging as the Disney line Princess Belle but it is lovely. It IS very subtle and light in fact it’s more a body mist and fine mist than it is a perfume. It starts off with a sweet fruity assortment of scents and notes. I detected pear and grapefruit, citrus, and red currant. To me the red currant and grapefruit are very much the big players but they are also very subtle and brief. Lacking in head-heart-base notes this is a linear scent and doesn’t change too much. The fruit becomes florals with rose, peony and lily of the valley. Only the rose stands out. I can’t say I can pick up on the other florals. This is a soapy and very fresh rose, like rosewater or rose bath water. The rose just had to be there after all it goes with the story I.E. THE ENCHANTED ROSE. A dry down reveals a touch of musk, some amber and woods but nothing spectacular. Very soft and powdery at the end.
The packaging is gorgeous and chances are if you want this it’s because of the attractive shell it comes in. Love the book (Belle loves books) and the perfume comes inside the book. It’s like Belle kept a rose perfume or rosewater handy whenever she needs to refresh and smell good during her outings into the village that doesn’t “get her”. But knowing Belle, she is not wearing the perfume for Gaston, not even for the Beast/Prince later on but FOR HERSELF. This is just for you if you find rosewater soothing and relaxing. It’s a fresh and very delicious therapeutic scent. Perfect for spring and summer. Very feminine and sweet, fruity, floral, woodsy, musky. Divine!
I can’t wait to wear this dressed up as Belle!!

Tested this one twice now. I really want to like it but there is nothing special going on! It’s essentially diluted rose water with fancy packaging. All style and no substance. It has almost disappeared after 40 minutes. There is no transition just a light rose and peony smell throughout it’s very very very short life. Great for Disney collectors but terrible for fragrance fanatics. Of course this is my opinion and I am sure someone out there will love this scent 🙂
