This is my revisited review on C.O. Bigelow Barber Cologne Elixir Blue. As I mentioned in my original review, I wanted to get an Ocean smelling fragrance since Ocean was a beloved scent of mine and I was about halfway done with it. I just so happened to shop at my local mall during the last semi-annual sale in late June. I couldn’t find Ocean but found this one and tried it out and found it smelt similar so I got it. As I mentioned that rather than Ocean’s typical Bath & Body Works bottle design at the time, this bottle was closer to Cool Water. Like Ocean, this smells like Cool Water and its flanker Cool Water Night Dive. In fact minus the mint, I think this is fairly similar to Night Dive. As I mentioned before it is a very good price at under $10-per-ounce/ml and due to Bath & Body Works being in most malls, fairly available.
That said, I think I was initially off on this scent. At first I thought it dried down at about the 4/5 hour point but now it goes away at the 3/4 hour point. The open and mid barbershop clean smell die off at about the 2/3 hour point leaving a BO like scent. It smells like if you worked out for the last hour. At first I wondered if it was because of the heat of the summer and the sweat that came out but upon night wear, I found that the type of woody notes they use gives the same result. So it doesn’t even work as a night scent.
I have found that Barbershop Elixir Blue is a waste and a trash fragrance. If I wanted to replace Ocean and couldn’t find it, maybe I should go the Cool Water route rather than stay at Bath & Body Works like I did. For this I give Barbershop Elixir Blue a 5 out of 10 with the main saving grace being the price and availability.

Wrist test 6 months after running out of last bottle: I think I’ll nickname the “Elixir” series the “Nicad Scent”, after the nicad battery. FYI, nicad batteries run great, but when they die, they drop off line suddenly. So it went for “Elixir Blue”. Like my prior reviewed Elixir Green, I got a moderately solid scent for about 30 – 45 minutes, then nothing. The notes themselves were pleasant: a well executed, balanced blend between aquatic, woody, and floral notes. Too bad they don’t last long.

Another variation of the old headache inducing aquatic theme!
I initially liked this frag. I even picked up a couple compliments while wearing it. However, the more I wore it out, the more it wore me out. It’s decent, it’s okay, but kinda “meh”.
However, If your shopping the Bigelow Elixir line at Bath and Body Works check out Elixir Black, it’s the best of the series in my opinion. It’s like buying John Varvatos on the cheap.

ive had this one for a while and always come back for it. everyone always gives me complements, and it stays for a good 1-3 hours. im wearing it as i speak. the only problem is that its some what weak. about 5 foot radiance. i suggest putting some on your clothing and a little on your skin. it makes it last longer and increases range. great buy though for 20 i recommend.

I do enjoy Elixir Blue upon application HOWEVER, without any exaggeration within thirty minutes to one hour, it is completely unnoticeable. I sprayed three sprays on, twice in the chest/neck area, and once behind my neck/back of the head and during a car ride twenty minutes later, my wife asked me why I didn’t put cologne on. Very Very disappointing. Soooo, I decided to step things up and layered eight(-YES-)sprays on and four hours later, the scent was completely gone. This fragrance resembles Cool Water but lacks depth, sillage, longevity, and everything in between.
Two thumbs down…Save your $$$$
