Today is a bit of a cloudy late summer day, so I wanted to try it again. The opening notes are those of galbanum, definitely the most noticeable one, and a bit of a bitter rose maybe some ylang. I can’t smell violet leaf or ginger in it. It stays on for a long time but it settles down into more woody and earthy notes. Am glad I got it, as it is a different scent to all others I have. It is a more mature scent and some compare it to Chanel’s (No 19) due to galbanum in it. I can’t wear any Chanel so can’t comment on that… Am waiting to try it in the winter too.

I’m young so I think this scent is a bit granny-ish at times. But one of the most interesting scents I’ve encountered in a while. Slightly foresty, slightly dusty, an interesting mix of old flower vases and fresh trees. Bottle is nothing special but HUGE (I got the 3.4 fl oz for 8 dollars). May give it away but not bad. Just don’t see me wearing it.

It gives a lot of violet leaves on me, that is why I think it’s very similar to Trussardi’s Skin, a long lost treasure of mine. I can also detect strong rose, and it is not a sweet rose-it is a bitter rose, because of the oud, I suppose.
Stays 4 hours on my skin. In the end it smells like Jacomo Silences on me-very Galbanum-y.

I am in shock! Can’t believed my eyes, price i paid in TJ Maxx $9.99, but my nose is never foolish me! This is amazing, high quality creation, equivalent to olfactory of vintage couture.I am so happy with this new parfum in day one, introduction. Will try to update in several days of wearing.

Green, galbanum, balsamic….YES. I really like this scent. Funny story….I sprayed this on, then was visiting my brother for a social function, and he said:
“Wow, you broke out your precious Jean Patou Pour Homme tonight??”. That really surprised me !! I will say that, the 2 scents are NOT the same…But..they both hve that similar “vibe”. Reto, vintage, green, woods, with floral aspects to boot. I could see this re-named as
“Ballade Verde” instead of Verte…lol. This is my favorite from the Canovas line. I own 3, all bought for $9.99 at Tj Maxx….worth the purchase IMHO.
    8.5/10 rating.

Does anyone know where to buy this brand in Canada?

Yes! The box definitely indicates what this fragrance is about-a rose colored tapestry of a couple siting in a garden close to topiaries and boxed trees and no cares.
This does smell what I would call “old lady”, which I am one. It sprays rosy.
I smell violet and rose in dry down. And it is very nice and worth more than what I paid for it. I think I saw a picture by another member mention this in a collection show off. I was so surprised to see it at the store, could not believe you could still buy this.

This is what I’ve been looking for all my life. As a child I had a vintage mini, probably from the 40’s or 50’s that I still treasure in my mind. Beware! This is a vintage fragrance. The only modern thing that comes close is E.T. Diamonds and Rubies. This is mellower, but has the same tart cherry aspect.

The best way for me to describe this scent would be if you placed fresh cut red roses and water in a woody resinous vase, you would get Ballade Verte.
This is so different and unlike any rose scent I’ve ever smelled before. (mind you, my nose is maturing to rose scents) I also think the Ylang-ylang deepens the red roses in this. Simply gorgeous!

Just got it but first impressions with me are one of the best way I can tell about a fragrance. If I like it upon first spray then usually it will smell nice to me all the way through, usually. So far I am really liking this scent. I have had it on for about 3 hours now and it still smells really good. I am picking up a lot of the rose now, but it is not over-powering so I like it. I have not noticed all the other notes mentioned by other reviewers but it is blended quite well so perhaps I will notice them the more I become familiar with this perfume. Now I want to try all the others in this lineup!

This fragrance doesn’t work for me at all, and I’m wondering if I could possibly have gotten a bad bottle. It was sold as new, and came in a sealed box, but I get NONE of the notes – no galbanum, no woods, no resin – just a nondescript overly sweet floral that smells very cheap. I’m going to return it ASAP.

So what? Am I the first to discover that gorgeous scent? Have’nt you smelled it yet? Go on , order a sample if you love uncommon oriental woody notes like me..the rose, the resines and the agarwood are playing for dominance here sometimes it s the roses and a little later the the resins..and in the absolutely brilliant drydown I cannot help but get my nose stuck to my arm..there comes the vanilla from Madagaskar and normally I m not a fan of vanille in perfumes…but here it gives a fine comforting creamyness to the oriental ginger/resin notes..it is a little sweet but NEVEr cloying only enough to complement and if you have a trained nose you ll get the violet in the opening as well..(I only got it the 3rd time I sniffed it..) I have a decant of it but will go for a full bottle soon…quite amazing scent and so far the best of this line to me..
