Wow this scent is SEXY . HO,LY, MO,LY. This scent screams date night, this scent screams sex. This scent defines romance in a masculine way. Lot of women think it’s better on a female, I completely disagree, this scent too masculine for women with the tobacco note. WOW this is the best kilian ever . 2nd is straight to heaven

This is a perfect example of diffrent fragrances notes taking on diffrent scents once they bond with my skins chemistry.
Some here smell honey, or strong tobacco & a cherry vibe.
Some smell only Honey, no cherry and a smidge of tobacco.
Me, to me I only Smell baby powder. Which is unfortunate.

Back to black was a blind buy…but god damn it is sooooo good! I just love this fragrance!!! i have the refill version, and for me it’s super confortable. I can’t say that it will last forever, but the longgevity is pretty good!
I love it and I recommend it

This is like walking into a old Tobacconists shop. Very Old man, or women who smokes and wears sweet coying scent. I dont know why you would pay so much to smell like this. All you need is to have a cough and everyone will think your a chronic smoker who likes a tipple of honey and rum and smokes 40 a day of roll ups!

Winnie the Pooh would love this scent. It´s all about the honey, honey, honey. Sweet but not sticky sweet. Thick, golden honey for every honey lovers. Not for me but I it´s a nice fall scent with really good longevity.

Really, I just don’t get this one at all. It is Immediately offensive! I love Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and so I had high hopes but this smelled like rubber mixed with urinal, honey and teabags!
I wore it for a full day praying it would change for the better or simply dissolve but it has staying power! It did improve slightly but only Because I had no choice but to layer it with Tom Ford.
I seriously dislike it and so does my bestie who owns a few By Killian, it was a £20 sample so I am really glad I did not blind buy this one.
Buy it if you want to smell like a condom!

The opening is quite special, however the dry down seems like a hot chocolate made with water instead of milk.

If you don’t like personal stories skip first three paragraphs
I always avoided fragrances with tobacco note.I tested TF Tobacco Vanille and PTM Herod years ago when my nose was I was a young girl in love with Versace bright crystal and my other girly, delicate, pink floralfruitys.back then I thought how can a girl wear stuffs like this?they are very masculine!after that I never thought of giving another chance to tobacco but I always loved them on a man (how could I not be as a Captain black cigarette smoker?!)
Today I was bored, felt terrible,it’s been a few days that I’ve started a ketogenic diet to loose weight and I have a difficult time trying to have a firm will and change my eating habits.I checked my sample box to find something I never tried before and I picked up Back to Black randomly
OMG! love at first sniff! Two years ago I had a exact similar experience.I tested a sample and loved it so strongly that I felt that can’t live a single day without it.I talked about it everyday and finally my mom bought it for me as birthday gift.that fragrance was Love by Kilian which has been first favorite since then
As soon as I sprayed my sample of Back To Black I was hooked!yes,I can easily smell tobacco here,I have never smoked or smelt pipe tobacco but it reminds me the tobacco smell of Captain black cigarette, the brownish ones which taste like chocolate) there’s also honey and non-sour cherry.this stuff is soooo delicious and there’s nothing dirty or herbal or dry and rough here.
I love the mix of honey and cherry as I’m a gourmand lover and I love the darkish vibe that tobacco gives them
All the other notes seem to be buried other honeyed-tobacco cherry liquor yummyness but as it dries down I start to pickup almondy vanilla and a touch of gingerbread which shows up and disappears continously.it’s softer in drydown and very powdery and cozy
As a gourmand lover and a powder lover It’s dreamy for me. I’d love it on a man but I also love it on myself.it’s delightful and seems to have very good sillage and lasts almost the entire day on me.I can’t eat anything sweet and sugary in my keto diets,Back To Black can be my only sweet pleasure these days..wish to find an affordable deal or receive it as a birthday gift just like it’s sister,Love don’t be ashamed
    Edit:
I can smell something chocolatey in it’s late drydown
Longevity is unbelievable. I sprayed it twice from it’s sample on back of my hand yesterday noon, about 22 hours ago.in this 22 hours I’ve washed my hands plenty of times I even did the dishes last night and yes,I can still smell it!and it’s not even like a faint whisper! It sits there stubbornly and smells like powder and cocoa.it’s not fruity, cherryish or syrupy sweet anymore, just very cozy and pleasant
Too much longevity is a negative in my book.I like to be able to wear different perfumes, usually I need to change my perfume more than twice a day otherwise I get bored but the fact that this fragrance is very expensive and comes in 50mil,I guess it’s great longevity is a plus
I don’t like most perfume’s late drydown.some are all about patchouli or woods.some are just bland vanillas.some are boring white musks.I adore Back to Black’s cacao-poudre-like late drydown
I need to have it.poor my good, old, little, empty pocket

WOW – received this with some other blind buys today!
So excited! I sprayed it on and WHHHATTTT????!
Honey and a mere smidgen of Tobacco. Thats it.
The note table here is an insult to my intelligence and somewhat experienced nose.
Virtually all the other notes are so infinitesimal and or combined that they provide the most minute of a benefit – any body over analysing this is too easily pleased – sorry.
I get the talc powder comparisons here. I also get one of the reviews saying it smells like an old peoples home. Reading reviews here shock me as to how people rave about it – I guess some people just like Honey and or are very creative and carried away…
Over priced and extremely underwhelming – thankfully Light My Fire that also arrived smells better at a whiff – that’ll come later… but having read reviews suggesting this is an awesome example of a tobacco scent (hence my purchase) clearly suggest to me that some people have unclear and inappropriate judgement – if anything this should classed more appropriately as Gourmand. Its really an overpriced BORING scent… even reminds me of a soft shampoo when i was a kid…
Completely overrated… unless you like honey…

Last night I scrayed this on before I went to bed, I always spray on a fragrance before bed. My husband is ok with this ritual. Anyway, my daughter walked to say good night and right away she asked what’s that smell. Mind you our bed is about 5 ft from the door. I told her what it was and her exact words were “ it’s smells like old fashion baby powder” ok ok dear daughter! Love you but….I love “Back to Black” a very smoky incense vanilla scent. Ok now it’s morning and I still smell it wafting from my neck. Now it smells even better. I’m not a person who calls perfume summer or winter or seasonal but this would do well in colder months. Sillage POWERFULL WOW! I love it! This is not a close to skin scent at all, it walks in before you do!

The smell is nice, but it also reminds me of the powder I use when I was a kid. The name of that powder is Enfant. It ‘s just a bit stronger than that powder.

I wasn’t expecting such a big, bold tobacco note. To me, reminiscent of Mammoth Cave. It pokes its chest out right up front. Then comes the honey, vanilla, rasberry.. thats about all i can make out before im mesmerized. The name aphrodisiac is appropriate. This is an incredible tobacco scent. I dont think any gentleman can go wrong with this one. At the same time, i know it will smell better on her.

This creation is imtoxicatimg but in the best possible way. It is similar to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid. No wonder, the nose behind it is also Calice Becker, but this one is a lot smoother and somehow a lot more luxurious. It is is soooo good, I could bath in it. It is the kind of fragrance that you want to sniff every few minutes and you cannot get enough of it. It is luscious, charming, sexy, intense. It is not fresh, but I can wear it all year round, day or night.
Overall rating is 10/10 although the price point is a lot higher than Black Orchid
    Scent is 10/10
    Longevity 10/10
Projection is 10/10 (meaning it is not fillimg the room giving everyone a headache)

Back To Black is just wow! A superb, sophisticated, warm, cozy scent! Right off the bat, you get the honey! Like almost as if where you applied this fragrance, someone has poured some honey. Not just any honey though. The finest honey, combined with fragments of dried fruit, and tobacco that was dipped in a cherry and vanilla syrup. What you get, is Back To Black!
This fragrance is sweet, but not gourmandish or sickly sweet. Sweet enough that gives it a seductive factor. While I will admit though, as the fragrance settles; what it eventually smells like is a cigarillo, which isn’t a bad thing per say. It’s not a bad smelling tobacco, just one I am able to associate to a cigar. Overall, a great, creative fragrance from a great house. I’ve definitely taken a liking to Kilian as of lately, and am awaiting their newest release.
I’d say this fragrance is best suited for fall/winter definitely. Your taking a bold risk wearing this in the summer. Spring you could maybe pull off. I can’t stop smelling my wrist while I’m trying to finish this review
    It’s that good!
    9.5/10 !

I am really disappointed in this one. Not because i don’t like it but because i chalked it off months ago and now, annoyingly, i really like it. Disappointed because my wallet does not fancy this one at all! There is something really sexy in this one, not sure what it is, possibly just the mix of honey and other notes combining into some cloud of atmospheric seduction! I’ll keep it in my mind but i will try to resist forking out.

Back to Black is incredible! I typically go for more girly girl scents, but this one is a true unisex. It smells like sweetened fruity tobacco infused with honey that is also a bit powdery on my skin. There are always complaints with the price of Kilian fragrances, but I honestly have found that all the ones I own and have tried are worth every penny. But, back to talking about B2B…when I say it is a true unisex this is what I mean…I can see an entrepreneur male wearing his best business suit, or a female wearing her best pants suit, a button-down white collar blouse and a fitted blazer. B2B is serious but also inviting at the same time.
Just thought I would add that even though that is what I envision people that wear back to black would look, I will say that I am only a jeans and leggings girl and I will/have wear my B2B with black leggings/jeans with a nice sweater and felt like the scent did go with my outfit. 🙂

Back to Black is an aromatic tobacco fragrance. The tobacco is seemingly infused with a complex array of ambrosial notes, which add depth, luxury, and soul to the fragrance.
The tobacco note here is very authentic to the smell of real tobacco. Very bold and potent—with such a life-like aromatic texture to it. Unfortunately, the type of tobacco is the exact same stuff you will find in the cheapest cigarillo; so it’s not exactly one-up for luxury. And the cheapness of this tobacco note could easily be considered a red flag for this fragrance.
The aromatic accord that envelopes it though is very nice, and would provide a lovely, luxurious quality to it (if only it lasted).
At the frontier of this ambrosial-accord is black cherry and white honey. The black cherry is heavily sweetened, while nicely retaining the depth and aromatic edge of a true black cherry. It’s a sensual depth, that adds nicely to the sense of refinement.
The white honey is probably indistinguishable from traditional honey to the naked eye. However, I can tell by the bright, crisp, almost aquatic aromatic sting that comes off the top of it; and gives it away as white Kiawe honey from Hawaii.
The rest of the aromatics in the accord are almost too well-blended to distinguish. The most noticeable being the slight presence of a bakery spice accord that provides texture and character.
The ambrosial accord projects as a whole like a sweet mélange, or some delicacy you’d find in an exotic cabaret, run by women whom live to indulge themselves. While the fragrance as a whole could easily be interpreted as the artistic expression of taking a random bum off the streets—and giving him a life makeover.
Very nice work for perfume as an art. But to that degree was probably best placed in a museum, and far out of the reach of the average poor soul that such a sad story could almost probably be based on.

In my humble opinion, I really wanted to like this perfume after reading reviews and looking over the note profile. fortunately fragrances can arise amazing feelings and memories of yesterday..wonderful vacations, dates, time periods. however Back to Black smells like a woman back in the 90s while growing up. they work at a local eatery, hair salon nursing home, etc and just went out for a cigarette. after their 10 min smoke break , they took out some 90s sweet perfume and doused themselves to hide the cigarette smoke that is now stuck to every piece of clothing. so now they smell of sweet overbearing perfume and cigarettes. I want to love it but there is that cigarette attachment, in my mind, that just ruins it for me. again..this is just my opinion. I can understand why a lot of people like the fragrance…respect.

If you love tobacco dripping in honey with a side serving of berries, almonds and vanilla, you’re going to love this scent. It’s a beautiful fragrance. Honey is the star, it’s rich and thick so easy on the trigger. Definitely cold weather fragrance.
It does have powdery overtones, so I get the reference to baby powder some have made. To be honest, it adds to its charm for me.
But like all Kilian’s it’s costly

Very masculine reminds me of times enjoying a sweet Cuban cigar sipping on a scotch or quality bourbon. The added honey gives it sweetness and rounds off the tobacco notes perfectly. An ideal fragrance for a gentlemen, CEO or any confident self made man.

In the beginning, (first 10 minutes) I love this scent, it’s a robust blast that smells of cherries, tobacco and honey. It’s been 15-25 minutes at this point and I’m at a weird phase. I can only use the term weird at the moment because it isn’t offensive smelling and it isn’t great smelling either; it smells of baby powder and Vaseline with the occasional light whiff of cherries and tobacco. Luckily I am over the aforementioned weird phase. I’d say it’s now about the 40 minute mark. At this point, I’m smelling still smelling baby powder–no Vaseline anymore–and a stronger pleasant sweetness; I get hints of honey and dry tobacco with this fruitier sweetness. After a couple hours it a sweet, dry, powdery, slightly honeyed tobacco. Unfortunately, the final dry down (5 plus hours) on me smells like a sweet baby powder.
Overall, I like the idea of this better than Chergui but only because Chergui was quite a bit more powdery on my skin (not a huge powdery fragrance fan). I will not be making a full bottle purchase of this one because I’m not in love with this fragrance enough to justify the price. I actually love Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille more than this. Additionally, I also prefer Chergui (despite the powder) over this too. Why? Something about this one actually puts me off a little. I don’t know what it is. Bummer.

    Doc Elly nailed it.
Sex in a bottle. Hypnotic, seductive, alluring: these describe it well.
Fruit & spices, honey, and tobacco blended so smoothly its hard to identify where one stops and the other starts. Can this instantly enhance your swagger? Yes, yes it can. Did you intend to misbehave? You do now. Are you the kind of person that gets into limos, when you don’t know where they are going? You are now.
Be cautious, this is way too sexy for work. Night time only.
    Scent: 10/10
Longevity: Beast (she will remember your scent in the morning)
Sillage: Beast (ladies turn to follow your wake)
    Season: Fall/Winter
I know this is expensive. Get a split, you need it.

I really like the notes on Back to Black, but if you over spray it you’ll choke yourself and your surroundings. I am a light fragrance wearer as I do not spray fragrances to be noticed, so fewer spritz are the norm. In the case of Back to Black, I only sprayed a bit on my neck and both arms. Here I am 15 hours later still getting a wonderful honeyed tobacco bubble around me. Great stuff.

  31. :

Back to Black is a scent that comes to me in colors first before I consciously begin thinking about notes and smells. It’s very purple, varying shades from dark to light, crushed blackberries and dark raspberries, a deeper violet shade of some blueberries…
As a smell in its newest iteration, Back to Black resembles a powdery, tart raspberry drizzled with honey and laid over a bed of tobacco. The tobacco sits in the background while the tart powdered raspberry sits up front. The honey accents the scent with a certain sweetness. It’s not as powdery as I remember it smelling years ago, and perhaps is a bit fruitier now, though it’s still similar to its original formula. Overall it’s a very unisex fragrance as it’s not masculine by any means but can be worn easily by men at the same time. Projection is about average, but it has a solid, substantial presence and lasts forever. Back to Black is unique–I still haven’t smelled anything close to it since first experiencing it about 8 years ago. It’s not for everyone though, so definitely sample this one before making a blind buy. I happen to like it a lot. I find the whole combination of notes very interesting and enjoyable, and they do something quite unique, so I’m glad to have it. I’d describe Back to Black as a sort of romantic, intimate scent, something to be worn outside of a work environment, appropriate for all ages. Thumbs up. 8.5/10.

I wish I could love this.
It goes from smelling like straight up baby powder to a boozy smokey honey. The baby powder though is bad. I mean I have a 5 yr old, so the last thing I want is more babies or baby smelling stuff. I just wish it was the boozy smokey honey. I think its pretty unisex though and fine for working anywhere. Just do not be surprised if someone thinks you smell like baby powder. work fine and I would say 30+.
My husband thinks it smells generic. Or as he put it a 4 star hotel. Tobacco and air freshener.

One of the things that amazed me was how long this lasts on me. It is stellar!! I sprayed it on me ( from a sample) and it was still present on me the next day!
This is perfect for Fall and WInter. Reminds me of sweet Autumn leaves, my father’s pipe smoke, and a warm cozy house. YES!! this is absolutely doable for WOMEN. The cherry along with the tobacco is a beautiful combination. While the HONEY is a heavy opening, it slowly dissipates into a beautiful harmony and waves of wood, fruit ( but not in a fruity way— more of a wine or brandy, really), and a wafting of warmth.
This is wonderfully powerful stuff, but not in a way that screams when you walk in a room. It is more of an ambience. I wore it in my office the other day ( the person at Saks in Columbus, Ohio gave me a generous amount in samples), and everyone was asking what the beautiful scent was not knowing that it was coming from me. It is a presence! It is an atmosphere. I love it, and if I had the money, I would buy ten bottles. It really works on me.
Don’t do it on a blind buy, though, because I know that the HONEY can really stand out on people. But on me, it dries down to a scent as if I am drinking a black sweet tea with just a little bit of honey. Give it time to dry down. For me, it was worth the try. Planning to buy a full bottle!

This Fragrance is absolutely beautiful. At first I was doubtful, because it opens up like ANGEL with the honey,( I don’t like Angel), but as it dries down, there is this beautiful sweet tobacco smell. For those of you who might be hesitant about wearing something with a tobacco note, fear not- The tobacco note mixes beautifully with the other notes so that it comes off as more of a sweet wood. It has a sweetness of smell like Autumn leaves. The vanilla conceals some of the tobacco, and the other balsam layers form a beautiful harmony. I really didn’t think I would like it when I first sprayed it. I have a sample and I am saving for a full bottle.

  39. :

It starts as a Swisher Sweety cherry cigar . . . and then it blooms. That cherry becomes more raspberry. The tobacco is enriched by labdanum, amber, and saffron. Somehow there is a note that is at once boozy and woody.
As it settles the honey takes over, and the baby lotion note so that one second it is perfect complex honey, the next Baby Magic lotion.
I’m typically not big on baby scents. I even avoid putting them on my baby, but the rest is so dark and intriguing I may have to make an exception.
Two hours in and I’ve decided that this perfume is crazy. I tested it on my inner elbow and back of my hand. My elbow smells like resins and nectar (more fruity honey). My hand smells like tobacco, honey, and baby lotion. There is an occasional spiciness, cardamon I think. This is clearly a scent with a huge range of transformation and very skin, moisture, and temperature dependent.
And I have to say that among all those different scents is THE BEST HONEY NOTE EVER. I seriously want to isolate it and keep it.

This might be too strong for the average person, however there is something absolutely magical about this fragrance. The longevity is also insane, could still smell it after three days on my arm. Disclaimer: Nuclear honey note, stay away if you dont like sweet stuff.

Lovely little cookie, something of clean baby smell, wisely crafted with brilliant pyramid notes.I detect some velvety honey in the heart and drydown, a little sweet but not sickly, at the end the little cookie magically appears again.I appreciate the choice of honey instead of an ordinary vanilla. Great for autumn and winter.

  43. :

This is just unbearably sweet for me, it also smells ultra feminine on me as well. I will admit, the smells going on here are great, and really evoke the feeling they were setting out for, but this is just so cloying and sweet that I could never wear it.
The opening is a blast of sweet berries, and vanilla, honey. As it dries down the only discernible notes I get are a rich, sweet honey, vanilla, cherry, and slight slight dry spice. This wears really heavy on me and very gourmand.
Definitely not for me. If you like rich gourmand scents, and want to attract the Berenstain Bears, then this would be for you.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

This fragrance is really good. It’s a sweet honey tobacco smell accompanied by fruits. I was afraid it will be too cloying to wear this but it won’t be cloying unless you wear this in the summer and smell it close to the skin. Longevity and projection are both amazing. It lasted more than 16 hours on my skin with a good projection for 6 hours. There had been some discussion about the gender and I can say this is truly unisex.
There is a huge downside that is the price, however, refills for this fragrance are fairly cheap compared to buying the bottle and it will cost less than twice of a signature line Tom Ford fragrance. If you don’t care about having a fancy bottle, refills can be your way to go. I think every fragrance lover should give this at least a shot.

Am not a huge By Kilian fan as the few I’ve tried have left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed BUT B2B is something very very special in my book.
Warm, sensual, lushes, boozy, spicey and honeyed sweetness all mixed with a delightful tobacco/coffee/baby powder accord that envelopes you in a way I’ve only ever felt with Black Afgano and Noir de Noir.
The cardamom coffee tobacco opening is so comforting, like holding a spiced latte with honey swirls.
The tobacco adds richness and depth along with a cognac type accord that brings added warmth to compliment the spices.
A sit dries down the baby powder joins in with the Cherry/raspberry but you get wafts of the individual notes all the way through.
Performance is simply beastly: 24 hours on skin, 6-8 of room filling projection and silage.
It’s now in my top 3 all time frags along with Black Af and NdN.
I really cant fault B2B and will always have it on hand, but will stick with the refills as 50ml ‘only’ costs £93.50 compared to the 50ml bottle at £200+.
Now, if only there were a decent dupe or alternative that could replicate it?……….

Can’t get in to this one. Smells like i poured baby powder on a pack of cigarettes. I kept waiting for it to change after the dry down but it’s pretty linear.

if it works with your skin, oh it works baby. if it doesn’t, prepare to smelly like honeyed baby powder, or like the baby lotion and food aisle in the grocery store.
when looking for the perfect honey scent, naturally i veered towards discontinued serge lutens but this is an absolute runner up in projecting that beautiful, fresh, animalic scent of honey wrapped up with a dash of fine tobacco.
this screams ancient Egypt to me and i love it.

This is a rich, honey sweet gourmand tobacco fragrance with a fruity vanilla undertone – I really love the smell – I smelled it in a shop and instantly loved it, though I did not love the price at all – I ended up buying an oil from Perfume Parlour which is very similar to the real thing, mixed it up with some ketones alcohol ( without smell ) and some perfume additives and the fragrance gets real close to the real thing with a killer longevity. A similar but then more sweet and less fruity would be Zara Tobacco Rich Warm and Addictive – both fragrances are heavy on Honey and Tobacco but the Zara frag has as well the Coconut and for many this might work well but for me it gets cloying becomes even annoying while the Kilian doesn’t, Back to Black is also Cherry and Raspberry, fruity tones which makes it more fresh, richer and most important enjoyable – Would I ever buy a 3 to 600€ bottle of the real thing – the answer is simple, no I would not, there are a plenty of cheaper alternatives which get you in the same vibe without the worry that a spray of the real thing costs you each time of couple of bucks

Cherry tobacco smell, I don’t like to put perfumes in categories like that but this is how a charismatic dark haired dark eyed, slightly introverted hot man would smell 😉
Sweet tobacco (not smoky), cherries, an almond-y edge, polished wood. Warm and very well-rounded. Very pleasant and soft when sprayed lightly, and can easily kill when used too generously. Its longevity is tremendous.
A little bit closer to the manly side of the gender spectrum. However, this is not your typical “manly” perfume. It’s sweet, and soft, and velvety. I’d die to smell it from a guy. Sooo appealing. Anyway, I’m going to wear it in winter myself.

After years and years and years I finally got around to sampling this iconic fragrance this afternoon and evening. In a nutshell, Back to Black is a gorgeous honey-tobacco fragrances and deserves all the fanfare; it’s just a fine fragrance from start-to-finish.
Sadly–actually, not so sadly–I purchased a bottle of 18.21 Man Made Sweet Tobacco Spirits in the Spring of 2016 and this much less expensive fragrance (one-quarter the price) smells just as great and performs just a swell as Back to Black. They’re not quite identical, but they are very similar and I may actually prefer Sweet Tobacco Spirits.
Back to Black is truly an outstanding fragrance when it comes to the honey-tobacco scent genre. However, I’ll be investing my money in a 2nd and 3rd bottle of 18.21 and not By Kilian. Your mileage may vary and, as mentioned, I find this to be a excellent fragrance.

Godly sweet golden nectar juice of heaven.
Absolutely love it. One of the best, if not the best honey scent ever created. As it dries down it gets even better in my opinion. The longer it dries down the better. So don’t give this one up after only one try.
While the opening is more feminine to me it changes to a rather manly scent after 2 – 3 hours.
The best way to describe this is overly sweet gourmand honey dessert. I usually don’t like overly sweet fragrances but this one absolutely nails it and somehow the sweetness doesn’t annoy me. It’s a gourmand but strangely enough it is very wearable for a gourmand. It’s mouth watering and it makes me lose control. If a woman wore this I’d want to eat her like a dessert. Very sexy. Truly an aphrodisiac, that’s why I’d much rather smell it on a woman instead of myself.
Seriously, it’s addicting to me. A woman wearing this gets 5 plus points to her account, no matter how she looks. I’d eat myself while wearing this if I could.
