Fresh. Clean. Line dried linens in a grassy field, atop a breezy hill, riddled with wild flowers and a babbling brook. Probably in the foothills of the Alps.
Not too floral-y, not too musky. Sadly, not too long lasting, either. I’ve loved it since it first released, and my love hasn’t wavered. While it does smell the same (to me), it has gotten a bit weak, and doesn’t last nearly as long as you’d wish. At the current price point though, it can be forgiven if you use it as a refresher body spray, similar in use to 4711, but a tad longer lasting than that.

There’s not much to say about AV but I will try. This is the fourth or fifth time I’ve sampled it and I guess it’s just not for me. If you do like it, I see it being sold cheap as chips online and at outlets.
On me it wears as an extremely low sillage citrus aquatic. I definitely smell the bergamot through the entire wear, as well as a sweetened floral that’s probably the cyclamen or freesia. I like the ad of the woman swimming because there is something about this that reminds me of being in or around a pool. You know what? I think this would make a good gift for the person on your list that wants to smell nice, especially in the summer, but isn’t a fan of most “perfume smells”. Again, it’s extremely low sillage so you can pile it on and still never offend.
I’ll continue to try other Adrienne Vittadini scents because I do really like Capri, but AV is just kind of whatever for me. I’m going to try layering it with EA Green Tea and see if that makes it more interesting.
proviper94 – :
Bought this in a gift box with the bath gel, lotion and edt spray because it was so reasonably priced. A real pleasant surprise. It does remind me a bit of paco calandra as one reviewer described and I wore and loved that fragrance back in the eighties. On me it’s a fresh citrus and green scent with a touch of subtle florals. A great fresh scent.
Aleksei10021986 – :
Meh, it’s perfume. My fiance’s mother sent me this and my fiance thought it was for him at first. It’s very neutral, neither masculine nor feminine. It’s nice but not something that resonates with me personally.
After further testing and consideration, I really like the base notes. After spraying it repeatedly all day long and letting the top notes evaporate, the tonka bean comes across really well. It’s dignified early in the day and delightfully sensual at night.

This review is for the Midnight Blossom version of AV. This just comes out as overwhelmingly woody on me.
vaselevskii – :
Until AV Midnight Blossom is catalogued with Fragrantica, does anyone know what other perfume it resembles, even a little bit? I would love to know.
UPDATE: This review is for Midnight Blossom. The atrocious box and tacky font do not do this fragrance justice. I turned the bottle around and glued on a crystal amethyst flower. Now it looks nice on the table. It is violety and fizzy like if they took any of the recent fizzy fragrances and added Guerlain Les Metiorites, OK maybe not that nice. It does remind me of a perfume named Sirena from Mandalay Bay casino with a whale tail fin cap, I know. Bebe Wishes and Dreams comes in a close second. If you mixed Kenzo Flower with My Burberry it would be similar. Midnight Blossom is not as strong as the others I have in this line. I recently sampled Vince Camuto Capri and it smells like a softer version of this, but similar.

I’m a perfume snob – there, I said it. I’ve always assumed that if a perfume is cheap, it’s not good. I am ashamed to admit that over the years I have turned my back of many cheap perfumes, not even giving them a chance. Thanks to the descriptions and reviews I read on this site I was encouraged to blind buy a FB of AV for a very reasonable price. Oh, she’s lovely, light and breezy, surrounding me in a swirl of citrus and flowers. She lifts my mood and reminds me that spring is indeed coming. I am humbled and grateful to you and to AV for opening the door – and my mind – to exploring some of the less expensive perfumes.
dolinskiy2 – :
I remember smelling this when it was sold at department stores and liking it. I saw it cheap at Marshalls and decided to buy it. I’m glad I did.
It smells like I remember it. I guess it is citrus-y and floral, but what it really smells like to me is soap… clean, fresh, expensive soap. And even though this is a fresh/aquatic scent like so many others right now, I don’t find this banal or common. I can’t pinpoint the exact notes that make this scent different, but to my nose, it is.
On me, it lasts a long time and I did not have to spray a lot to smell it. It’s pretty easy to wear, un-offensive, and is suitable for a man or a woman. I like smelling like upscale bath products, so this one is good for me.
Dorcemarco – :
Interesting scent. Haven’t really found many things like this on my side of the scent fence. Very intense Citrus clean blast from first spray. A bit of floral takes over after a few minutes, mostly Freesia. This scent has an excellent selection of base notes, but I have to admit on me, they didn’t come through near as much as I usually prefer considering my love of dark and spicy scents. This doesn’t do it any harm however, and it certainly settles into a clean musky dry down. This certainly wears well on a guy as well as women despite it not being touted as Unisex. Certainly a fresh scent and worth having when you want or need that type of fragrance. Good price point, and worthy of your wardrobe. As with most every scent I know however, I wish it lasted longer.
Almat_293 – :
If you like the “CLEAN” line of Fragrances then you’ll like this.
Though, not my typical type of fragrance. It’s a good one to reach for in the bathroom, just out of shower. Especially on days you maybe don’t feel like a perfume or you want a break from your go to. Or you would just like to smell fresh.
Av smells like a cross between Clean’s. “Ultimate Clean” and “Outdoor Shower Clean”.
When I wear this I smell freshly showered with nice salon products all day. Not just freshly showered, but used a high end shower product. When I do wear this, I also use the Av shower gel and lotion as well. It has such a nice fresh, clean, slightly floral woodsy scent. It’s a bit citrusy in the very beginning. But, then moves into a soft floral, woodsy smell. Then a Poweder musc. Very very nice. This is so unoffensive there’s no where or no one that this can’t be worn or worn by. I wish it had a bit better longevity. But for the inexpensive price. I don’t mind reapplying.it can also be worn by men. It does have that unisex vibe to it. Granted, it’s a bit on the floral feminine side of unisex. But, a man could definitely use it. This would make a really good gift. Especially the gift set. It smells like it costs a bit more than it does. Nothing earth shattering here. But, nice enough.

I loved this fragrance from the moment it was launched in ’94. It was brand new at Macy’s when a saleslady suggested it for me to try. It was love at first sniff!
I wore this fragrance every day for the 2 years of it’s production. To date, it has been the only fragrance I’ve worn where I’ve been stopped repeatedly to ask what fragrance I was wearing. The most common comment I received was, “You smell so fresh, like you just stepped out of the shower!”
AV didn’t overwhelm with fussy florals; it was feminine in a soft, understated tone. Feminine but fresh is the best way I can describe it. It was set to be my “signature” scent for the rest of my life, but that was not to be.
In a massive failure of promotion, it never had a “proper” ad campaign / introduction. It slipped quietly on the fragrance counters, and just as quietly slipped away. I still mourn the passing of this fragrance.
Some time in the early 2000’s I saw AV in a discount fragrance store, and wondered if it had survived the years. To my horror, the bottle I purchased had “turned”, and it was no longer the light oriental I remembered. I threw the entire bottle away.
From the reviews so recently submitted, I’m now wondering if that earlier bottle had “turned” or if it was some “reformulated” disaster.

U KNOW SOMETIMES WHEN IN FULL BLIND AND IMPULSE BUYING MODE…THE HARDEST THING TO IDENTIFY IN A GIFT SET IS WHEATHER ITS FOR HIM OR FOR HER??…SINCE THE PRICE WAS UNDER $12US…..AND STILL DYING TO KNOW IF IT WAS A MALE OR FEMALE PARFUM…I JUST BOUGHT IT ANYWAY..LOLOL…AND IM HAPPY TO SAY THAT THIS IS A VERY NICE BOUQUET OF FLORALS..LIKE MOSTLY WHITE SMELLING AND WITH A TINGE OF AN AQUATIC NOTE GOING ON IN THERE ALSO…I WILL BE ADDING THIS TO BLENDS ..ANYWAY I AM A GUY AND I DO APPRECIATE GOOD FRAGRANCES..SUCH AS THIS..A 8.0/1O….GREAT SILAGE AND LONGEVITY
ench – :
This is a very easy to wear, everyday kind of fragrance. It starts like a lime version of La Tendre Madeleine, sweet and a little tart. From there, it becomes more musky with a similar base to the drydown of Hot or Allure, almost a peachy-musk but still with the lime citrus character. The whole effect is to be light, citrusy but not bitter or zesty, sweet but not too sugary, and lightly musky-fleshy. Very easy to wear, very inoffensive but not completely boring. Sillage was modest, longevity about 4 hours. A good summer scent.
Cemipagma – :
Lovely scent. Unique combo of flowers “flirt” with the bergamot element. Distinctive. Great longevity and projection.
евгений60 – :
Bought a bottle on Groupon for $20. Either got a knock-off or a very old one, because all I can smell is a cold sharp cleaner smell. No musk, no moss, nothing woody. No flowers at all. Very disappointed. Buyers, beware!
Merqh502elipseskism – :
I’ve had this for awhile. Each time I “test” it, I find it astounding. It’s wonderful, really! This scent to me, far surpasses JLO’s Glow.
Glow to me, is industrial. It’s shiny silver metal. It echos. It’s a bit hard to me. I feel cold cement
AV is soft. This stuff has FLUFF. White goose down comforter, white sheets, white room….with golden 85 degree evening sunshine warming everything.
I’m not bashing JLO’s. This is just the better of the two for me.
I prefer goose down over concrete.
valertos – :
I remember when this was launched at Nordstrom in 1994 and it was quite expensive. It was marketed as a contemporary clean classic scent. I’m sure its been reformulated as it can be found at bargain basement prices. Ill give it a test and report what I think…

Attn: This review is for AV GLAMOUR (not yet cataloged)
O.K., I finally bit the bullet and blew 10 bucks on this. The bottle is the same as AV except for the pink letters in the awful font. At least the bottle could have been pink. The scent is as disappointing as the Torand 90210 Tickled Pink that I bought, but that bottle was cute and only 5 bucks. This fragrance is what I’m not into, above 90210, P.H. Paris Hilton, Sexual Star, Deauville and the Escada one which started it all. If they are your thing, you will love this. The bottle is huge and economical. The only aspect of this scent that I like is the pretty strong punch of added sparkle of muguet.
Update: If you like Jadore but find it too expensive, this is a fairly good substitute.
tarasklumjuk14 – :
This perfume smells expensive and it is incredibly affordable. To me this is one of the pillars that the current watered down aquatic scents wanted to be. But this scent is deeper and much more complex.
I admit, I bought it blind because of a review and the price. I did not expect to like it as much as I do. Truth.. I kind of love it and I can see it being one of my spring and summer scents. At first I got the big citrus hit and thought, this is another CK One or celebrity style scent.
But then the warm spices, hint of sharp wood and yummy dark floral came thru and I am very happy!
Is it aquatic? Yes, but in the best kind of way. Not the spring break Daytona beach or the club beach at Punta… but this is the aquatic of an old port like Charleston, or even New Orleans on a balmy summer day of sweet time with a lover surrounded by intoxicating flowers and salt air and market spices…. Warm..
Affendose – :
Someone told it is 80th smell, I would say it is mixture of end of 80th and beginning of 90th aroma.TO me is very similar as Paco Rabanne in metallic box. I like it.
tenten – :
I recieved a bottle as a gift a while back. It’s OK, but nothing special. I wear it to work. On me this smells woody and spicy. The floral never really emerges. It is a mature, classy fragrance, perfectly suited for a professional atmosphere.
It lasts all day, but it generally stays close to the skin. I know I’m wearing it. Anybody sitting or standing right next to me knows I’m wearing it. It doesn’t travel much farther than that unless the room is very hot and dry. Then the citrus pops out a bit.
I don’t love it, but I don’t despise it. That seems to be the consensus among my friends, family, and co-workers, with the exception of my mother. My mother really loves this on me.
selzalisa – :
Nineties style fragrance reminiscent of Allure, Contradiction, Truth (if my memory serves me). Smells expensive, just not my cup of tea. An OK powdery, Asian scent. A little sharp, in the way that Charlie is sharp. I’m not saying this smells like Charlie, but it does have that screeching aspect. I prefer the bath gel and body lotion. They are like a blend of the clasic Calandre and Pure Poison.
kitovasvetlana – :
Spectacular scent indeed!!! This is just beautiful in every way for me and my nose. It can easily be a signature scent for me and It will probably be for awhile its just right now im keeping my love affair with Angel by TM, this is my winter scent ALWAYS. So Im kind of tied up for the moment. But in between times, this is the scent I will be waring. Nice citrus.
alferova483 – :
I just brought this perfume a week ago as a blind buy at Ross and I absolutely love this fragrance. It is just a beautiful, sexy, classy smelling casual everyday wear perfume.
Lauren_fromAD – :
This is the second fragrance that has given me a terrific headache and made me nauseated as well. I tried to scrub it off my wrists, yet I can still smell it! My dog is sneezing, it’s comical at this point. The silage must be fantastic with this horror of a scent. I only smell chemicals, too much of an aldehyde and not enough nature for me. I get no aquatic notes at all, maybe bergamot but then it’s all chemical and the dry down is spicy to me.
I’m going to donate it to a shelter for women, maybe someone would appreciate it there, yet I certainly hope I don’t make anyone else sick with this stinker.
We are all so different, what smells wonderful on you may be quite awful on me and vice versa.
I actually smelled this on someone else and found it delightful, go figure! Wish I could send it back. It proves the old adage “you get what you pay for” most assuredly. I will admit that the bottle is lovely, too bad the manufacturers didn’t think about it’s contents.
igor.6666 – :
I found this for $12.99 at TJ Maxx and because I thought the notes sounded appealing, I wanted to give it a shot. Its very “meh” to me..It has 80s feel(although its not loud or overpowering) but it reminds me of many 80s citrusy florals. I can see why this could be unisex as it hovers sort of in between.
Sorry but I have a hard time describing this one other than citrusy floral scent that is rather warm. But I felt like it was rather average and reminded me of many other fragrances of that era.
I promptly put it in the box and returned it
liv86 – :
Easily unisex. I smell bergamot, woods and musk. This reminds me of the 90’s, with its slightly masculine, soft citrus. Dries down to a slightly powdery, woody base. There is a warmth in the base that is very comforting.
guzzitaev.y – :
I like the smell of this on me. Yes, I am a male. I smelled it a TJmax recently, not even knowing it was a female fragrance (it was on the men’s rack) and I thought it was powdery, citrusy, and very classy. I bought it because it was $12 and I liked it. I found out about 30 minutes later from this site that its a woman’s fragrance but decided to keep it. I would definitely classify it as a uni-sex rather than just a female scent. It works well for a mature man, with it’s powdery citrus note. I want to wear it but am embarrassed to say it’s a woman’s fragrance… maybe I’ll just use it to spray my pillow.
zapchasteyyy – :
This smells exactly like another watery (as in weak, not as in ocean) perfume but I can’t for the life of me remember which one. Splendor maybe or Casual?
It’s a very wan and non-descript light floral with only a hint of a citrus top.
Pretty dull, actually.
ouq416speagoessenda – :
I’ll say I don’t like it, because it was like spraying water on my skin. I had to spray a lot more than usual to make it noticeable, then in a couple of hours all I have was a faint tangy, soapy and powdery smell– and I am usually the one who complain about fragrances being too strong. Other people seem to like it, perhaps I got a bad bottle or my chemistry playing tricks on me. It is quite fresh and pleasant, if you don’t like sweet fragrance, or you normally don’t care for perfumes, you may give this a try as it is very gentle. As for me, I prefer something a little more intense.
yagod39 – :
I found a bottle of AV tossed in a pile at Marshall’s for 13 bucks. I thought, what can I lose!
This is a lovely fragrance that is complicated but in a light, soapy yet very sophisticated way. Many say it has an acquatic sense to it but AV manages to sidestep that stereotyped marine scent. It also manages to avoid the overly crisp but fleeting citrus cologne syndrome and lastly, is green and fresh without the overdose!
What can I say? Exquisite, charming, lightly floral and enchantingly herbaceous. The best fragrance bargain I’ve ever found!
TopHaqo – :
This is one of those fragrances that got me into this passion. It’s not common and quite unique.the price was bargain which was a bonus.
As has been said,it’s floral and can be loud and irritate when oversprayed so take it easy on the trigger.I will see it as more feminine than masculine as some seem to suggest.I normally tend to sneeze and veer off heady florals but this appears tolerable to my sinuses even though it’s an EDP.very long lasing and pleasant.
yes,the bottle is eye-catching and almost has the same design as Deauville pour Homme by Michel Germain
lomyovave – :
Before it was classified as aquatic.I’d call it rather an aromatic-floral. Especially in the opening. Feels like a mix of bergamot, basil, mint and verbena. I smell green tea too(a lot). Not really aquatic to my nose (as Escape, Cool water, Sunflowers – I’m not fond of). In the dry down I mostly smell freesia: an apricot-like smell. I also smell a hint of lotus. Luckily it’s very light. Just realised that the dry down reminds me Azzura by Azzaro.
sergey111 – :
This was a blind buy for me, and I’m glad I got it. It’s a really nice mix of refreshing citrus (bergamont), woods (cedar), and musk.
It reminds me of my beloved bvlgari The Vert, probably because of the bergamont opening. It’s also not a very girly scent, and it is slightly masculine…but in a interesting way. I see this as more of a summery casual, white linen shirt and khaki shorts kind of perfume. It has a sort of GAP or CK fragrance kind of feel.
Update:
I’ve been wearing this for a while now and the dry down also reminds me a little of B&BW’s cotton blossom scent. I think that lotion would layer with this perfume nicely.
m1974 – :
To me, this is the smell of the early 90’s. It encapsulates both the smell of the ocean, and a musky, laid back scent. There is something almost masculine but in a androgynous sort of way that I think is super sexy. It is definitely a complex sort of scent in that I can’t smell individual notes. But, oh, how I hate this bottle! So clunky and strange in my collection.
freedomoya – :
Bought this about 2 years ago. I was looking for a light fresh ocean/beach type of scent that wouldn’t cause allergic reaction. AV came up in my search. I bought it blind and was very happy with it. Used up
about 3/4 of the bottle and moved on. Today I put some on and I still like it alot. I wasn’t sure about the ocean/beach description (which was given on the website I bought it from). My sister smelled it and said “oh yes, it does remind me of the ocean & beach”.
And now I too think it is a bit like that too.
Also a little musky/sensual too. I think it is lowkey
not fresh burst. Just light, pleasant,
warm. I wish I could describe this better but I’m not
that experienced with fragrance descriptions. I’m learning though. Love Fragrantica !!
rozicckavirt – :
Ooh this was nice, crisp and fresh. Liked it better than Capri. I still have the mini and powder in this.
kentiro45 – :
kinda light and refreshing nothing special
paranoid – :
AV was ahead of its time, in my opinion. It combined a woody-musky base (Oakmoss) with a floral, making this deeper and more sensual than the typical floral fragrance. Its the best offering from Adrienne Vitadini, and I own it in both EDT and parfum. I like the bottle design as well.
