Apparently discontinued. Shame, ’cause it would have been my fourth of the best fragrances I believe from the house looking at both scent and performance along with Eucris, Sandalwood, and Curzon. We can’t cry over spilt Milk… of Flowers which is another of their fragrances. Sorry, I had to throw that in there.

Today I am briefly testing Trumper’s drier, more leathery offerings Astor, Curzon, Eucris and Marlborough together. It took me a few tries to distinguish them.
Astor is brighter and fruitier with sour apple for a while (?), but it gets weak fast. Drydown is pleasant dusty hay and pencils, but almost too weak to evaluate. Perhaps like a much weaker Tuscany or Burberry Original.

This was my very first scent aged about 15 (young fogey), and I have always had a bottle since. It is wonderfully fresh with a sophisticated sandalwood basenote that lends it an air of old-world elegance. Very aristocratic. Old-fashioned in an indefinable way but it still works very well today even on young, modern guys. You can pretty much guarantee that nobody else will be wearing it. I’ve had plenty of compliments wearing it, mostly along the lines of ‘you smell classy’. Arguably, you might need to be a bit urbane and well-spoken to pull it off. But, strangely, I can see it working on a barrow-boy too if he’s cute and cocky. Longevity and projection are good for a £43 Eau de Cologne. Wish they made an EdT or EdP version and a range of complementary toiletries. Don’t be common, try it.

What a dramatic and vivid glimpse into the Belle Epoch. This was a time of hold the door for a lady and kissing her had when meeting her! 1880?Impressionism has arrived in the fragrance world. It is a weekend picnic under the warm summer sunshine.
Petit grain is very refreshing. I mixes well with the lemon, caraway and jasmine. Amber and sandalwood provide support for this lost classic. Its simple and masculine with no pretenses. It is an important reminder of how special and refeshing mens fragrance can be.
Thank you Jeca for this priveledge!
