Description
Armani launches new perfumes of the Privé collection in November 2010. The collection is named “La Collection des Mille et une Nuits,” inspired by the medieval Arabic tales from 1001 nights. These three new heute couture perfumes depict the exotic mystery of the Orient with its warm, spicy and woody notes on the subject of rose, oud and amber.
Armani Privé La Collection des Mille et une Nuits icludes three perfumes: Oud Royal, Ambre Orient and Rose d’Arabie. The fragrances are exclusively designed for the Middle East market and are made as imitations of their traditional perfumery and local ingredients.
Ambre Orient is a smoky scent of vanilla and dark wood aromas of sandalwood and patchouli with thyme, labdanum and amber, spicy cinnamon and pink pepper.
It is packed in a black glass bottle decorated with a golden stopper.

After this was discontinued a few years ago, I really regretted not buying a bottle. A number of months later, I stumbled across dozens of these marked down in a Harrods sale, reduced from £190 to £120. As it was a Rewards Weekend, I could get an extra 10% off, so jumped at the opportunity and got two bottles of this amazing juice.
This is an incredibly strong and long lasting scent, so just one spray will last all day. Very unisex too and a girl I worked with would regularly say “Oh you’re wearing that gorgeous perfume” or “You smell like a whore’s handbag again” whenever I went to work with this on. I think Ambre Orient and TF Amber Absolute are simply two of the best amber fragrances ever created.

This was a birthday gift from my sister and the high jewel of my collection. I kept comparing this to Shalimar but concluded that I prefer this one a bit more. This is what fragrances should be about: quality, staying power and superb ingredients. I love the rich amber and spices. Why does it have to be discontinued?

I adore thyme and patchouli and labdanum, and this perfume epitomises the gloriousness of these delectable plants to me. I just love it. It’s a wonderful, aromatic and beautiful perfume. And the sweet beautiful cinnamon gives it such a delicious comforting and caressing feeling that makes me almost swoon. I absolutely love this beauty. It’s divine. It’s glorious. And it lasts an age, and brings me compliments galore. I can’t tell you how lovely it is for me. Extremely beautiful.

My favourite scent of all time. Spicy, warm, seductive, a complete show stopper.
Since it was discontinued, I haven’t found another fragrance like it.
The longevity and projection on this is mental, I spray two pumps and I have filled an entire room with the scent, I leave the house and people from meters away run up to ask what I am wearing.
First notes I get are rich amber and spicy cinnamon, then the warm creamy vanilla and sandalwood comes through. This scent is by no means a generic/chemical smell, it’s bold and full of life.

I want to write a love letter for Ambre Oriental! yet all my words are too weak and pale… I cannot. Not yet. I want to get to know this deep beauty before I drop any words at all. It’s mesmerizing!
PS. Out of 10+ fragrances I tested today this is the one that keeps coming back to my mind, this is the one I want to revisit, to make time for.

Are you planing to seduce someone? Well, this is the perfect fragrance for your plan! I adore amber in perfumes but this scent just has it all. Intense amber notes, spices and a fresh and crisp topnote. Although its rather expensive, it s worth every penny and sure will get you a lot of attention and plenty of compliments.
This fragrance has a lot of depth and develops nicely on almost any skin type.
At first sandalwood and patchouli open the rich bouquet. After an hour the main ingredient, amber, starts to show and labdanum completes the experience turning the fragrance into a sensual and captivating scent.

I’m in love with this perfume. I tried everything I could to get something cheaper that smelled as nice, but nothing else compares.

This is basically sweeter version of Armani Prive Ambre Soie.
I can feel here elements which link together this one, Ambre Soie and Myrrhe Imperiale. These are of course amber, vanilla and spices. It has also something in common with Ambre Sultan from Lutens, but not as much as Ambre Soie has.
Longevity is solid, I get 8-12 hours. Sillage is very good within first 2 hours, then slowly sticks closer and closer to the skin.

a very good oriental ambery fragrance
this one starts off quiet spicy with some incense. it later develops into a slightly powdery amber with labdanum. you will still get the spices and the incense in the background with just a bit of vanilla. longevity is very good (10 hours) with above average projection.
a very good oriental scent

They should have called this “Labdanum Orient” as I get loads of labdanum for the first 6 hours and only tiny bits of other notes (cinnamon for one), the drydown is also very full with labdanum and bits of vanilla. As this is so heavy on labdanum I find to be more masculine than feminine, it appears very bitter and harsh and you really have to enjoy heavy doses of labdanum to enjoy this.
I find it very similar to Etro – Ambra, which on discount costs 3x less than “Ambre Orient”. I also do not think this is full bottle worthy as this brings nothing new to the overdone crowd of amber fragrances.

Well They Still Have Bottles Of This Here In Australia And God Its Good 🙂
And Cheaper Then The Rest Of The World To Boot …!

Unfortunately, Ambre Orient is no longer produced. In its place was introduced Myrrhe Impérial.

This is beautiful. The composition seems to be a combination of a quality rich amber and a touch of Bois d’Encens.
Long lasting but soft projection. Linear until the very end where the amber is at its warmest.
Very very good stuff 🙂

Ohhh… I love this Amber fragrance!
We can get spicy amber from the beginning, but as long it goes, we can feel the vanilla and pacthouli too.
Labdanum is very intense here, although i cannot get the sandalwood nor the cinnamon.
It works better on those cold days!
Dry is very good and sillage + longevity are outstanding!
I guess it is one of the best Amber fragrances i have even tried!
🙂

This fragrance perfect. 10/10 excelent!
ruslan.zubok2009 – :
I love it. of all the 1001 nights collection this one is my favorite 🙂 it is sweet, a bit heavy in the beginning and the labdanum note is very present, but after some minutes it is an ambery, soft vanilla scent. you sure smell a hint of frankinescence. it is warm, and is not an ordinary perfume, definetly a fall-winter, and I’ll buy it again.
pigorix – :
The smell is intense and extremely lasting. But after all we are talking about EdP Intense. Probably the best Ambre parfum available on the market.
In addition, the bottle is simple and elegant as the clothes from Giorgio Armani. Wonderful!
Unfortunately, Ambre Orient is no longer available. In its place was introduced Myrrhe Impérial.
grohman – :
A nice spicy amber that’s nowhere close to other unreachable masterpieces such as Ambre Precieux or Ambre Russe that are at the same time cheaper, classier and way much better executed. Nice but nnneeded.
