this is the smell of love! so alluring…I fell in love with my husband while he was wearing this and this is always the scent of our love…

Bought this for £30 from Boots last week. What a bargain it has a gorgeous opening note of vanilla and lasts for hours especially when I spray it on my clothes. Great for compliments as well.

Such a shame that this has been discontinued. Glad I’d the opportunity to get a backup bottle in due time. A really underrated scent.

Just a more linear version of the original. The performance was better but still only moderate.

Dwyatt nailed it down. Original Code is much better than Ultimate and Profumo. Ultimate lasts longer but it’s so interesting as the original. Its less versatile and too heavy. profumo acts a gourmand scents , read not really masculine. Its nice but too much cake-ish. I’d still choose the original one between all three mentioned, even if it has longentivity issue.

Long lasting, sweet fruity vanilla. My goodness, i usually use this for office. Doesn’t matter if it is warm weather at day or cold weather at night. To be honest, it is still considered expensive in Malaysia but worth buying

I have never used Armani Code Original for a long time, but I do like the scent of AC original more than AC Ultimate. However, I will never buy an AC original bottle, due to the performance issues.
AC Ultimate smells a bit more synthetic, stronger and is less subtle than AC original. But they got the ratio of vanilla and wood perfectly balanced. The longevity is perfect for a day at the office.
It has great performance and not a room filler. Sprayed it on in the morning, took a shower 14 hours later, put my hand through my hair and my hand smelled like AC Ultimate. This is how a fragrance should perform!
I was very disappointed to find out Profumo is not the substitute of Ultimate.

    This one is just perfect.
It’s cosy, yet luxurious, warm but still mature.
When wearing a suit & tie, this is one of my favorites
Performs so much better than the original Code, for which only a dog can detect even from close range.
Projection (8hrs+) and sillage are just perfect but including the very nice scent of the original.
One of my preferable Fall/Winter fragrances.

Finally, I had to decide whether to go for the “Profumo” or the “Ultimate”.
And I have to tell you that I had given “Profumo” a second chance to proof its worth. “Profumo” is a great scent no doubt about that, but for me the juice itself is too cloying and sticky to my skin and I feel that its overly sweetness is such an overpowering factor which made it easy for me to choose between those two.
So I finally decided to pick up a bottle of the “Ultimate” and I am NOT the least disappointed by that choice.
The “Ultimate” still got that neat, yet dirty sweetness without being too much and it is far more balanced/controlled compared to the “Profumo” at least in my opinion.
Remember this is an EDT+ (read; EDT Intense) and taking that in to consideration I think that it’s got a reasonable projection for about 2 hours and the longevity on my skin is about a good 6 hours before it gets closer to the skin.
What a nice and pleasant scent!

Honestly this stuff does project more and last longer than the original Code. But it comes at the loss of the depth and nuance of the original. It’s sweeter compared to the original and it lacks the fresh top notes that kept the original clean and refreshing. It says there’s citrus in the top, but I get basically none, and they’re overpowered by the heavy vanilla. I love the way the tobacco, leather and citrus in the original played together with the anise and Tonka/powder accord to keep it from being too dense. I actually love the original for warmer weather, even summer heat.
This one serves as a good winter version of the original but it’s more one dimensional and a bit more chemical smelling. That said, it’s still a fine scent and a great option for colder weather. Miles better than Profumo, which suffers from that awful “1 million syndrome”. All in all, it neuters the original scent a bit, in order to gain some brute strength but it’s still a very nice smell that does garner compliments. The first time I wore it out, I got two unsolicited compliments in ten minutes. It’s definitely sexy.
    I give it a generous 7/10

i just picked this bad boy up. or shall i say smooth elegant gentleman up. i actually own the original pre-reformulation of armani code batch from 2006-2007 and i enjoy it very much but i found myself checking out flankers and i got a sample of ultimate from sephora. i have a good 15-20 bottle rotation of scents plus 15-20 plus decants of niche and older frags. this ultimate is very niiiiccceee. its not loud its PERFECT for your suit and tie vibe. i wear a suit multiple times a week and as a image consultant and fitting clients up for a living this scent is perfect for close quarters with elements of the original armani code but with slight floral elements vanilla and powdery sensual dry down. think about the original pre formulation armani code before it was watered down by the government regulations and mix that woodsy dark smoky brooding motorcyle riding metrosexual type scent of the original and mix that with a sophisticated powdery-vanilla light floral dry-down that just lingers for hours with light wafts throughout the 6-8 hour ride……..soooooo smooth……this one does not project much its a close quarters scent which i have grown to like for my professional occupation measuring people up on them all day long. the longevity is great on this lasts long time but only draw back it’s projection. This one is a hit in my book just understand that it is meant to be worn dressed up in my opinion and its classy and elegant it does not scream it is a GENTLE-man scent…..literally.

I forgot about owning this scent. I bought it a few years ago (2012), and don’t recall using it, but I remember buying it because I liked Code so much. Anyway, I tried this during the winter, it projected very well, and lasted good too, both on skin and clothing. It is mos def made on the same lines as the orignial, but the sweetness makes it slightly heavier. I don’t know if this has been reformed or anything, but I have heard on a youtube review that is has mediocre performance, which is not my testimony. My bottle performs inbetween the original and Versace Eros. I like this bottle and rate it a 7.75 out of 10. Recommended, and safe blind buy if you like sweet, tonka, vanillic type of frags. Happy Sniffing folks.

  13. :

Underrated. Got it the year it came out. Bottom of the bottle says edt intense btw. Powdery. Way better than eros. Good balance of floral and vanilla/tonka. Smells like dr pepper or cherry coke. Orangey opening. Smooth. Throw this on after you shave for a nice barbershop feel. My wife hates it. Probably because she knows I could go mack some 25 year Olds if I wore this to tha club. Get it before it is discontinued

As someone who never got on with the original code or any of it’s many flankers, I was immediately taken aback by the sudden departure from a totally forgettable and generic ‘locker room’ line, to a suede smooth, almost gourmand ‘dessert’ fragrance. I remember distinctly the first time I tried it, drawn apprehensively to the putty coloured typeface, wondering if the colour difference would be gingery spice?… nutmeg?… vetiver?…
Well, the first sniff had me, I could tell it had used Vanilla and Tonka as these had by then become among my favourite notes when used well to accent a fragrance. Finally, an Armani I would wear! Someone else has said similar before… Code Ultimate is more considered, more charismatic, more worldly than its original which exudes conformity and seems juvenile and unadventurous in comparison. Ultimate is confident and calm, quietly dominant in the right measure without crossing the line to being arrogant like Code.
Longevity on me was fairly good but on the skin was where it just failed the ‘buy’ factor against an active lifestyle. The ‘dominance’ I referred to was a relaxed and stubborn one which became to heavy for me during the day and became too sickly in the gym at the end of the day. It was this which eventually made it only just fail the ‘buy’ factor for me… Only just though… And only because Luna Rossa Sport appeared in my peripheral and edged it out on performance… Both for longevity on MY skin and the lack of compliments on the rowing machine at full body heat!
If I stop moving I will make it a staple in my wardrobe, above the exquisite but too rich Profumo.

Stay away from this fragrance . It’s silage and longtivity is horrible . I recieved no compliments nor any comments ever , even when I ask my friends if they like the ultimate code on me !! They don’t smell anything because it has a very disappointing , horrible sillage and longtivity .
Totally ; waste of money in a bottle – disappointed .

I bought a sample of this on Bonanza for a great price and really loved it. It’s much stronger than original Code and smells more modern. I would use this one for day wear and Code Profumo for night life. They smell incredible together when carefully layered!

    ReyesJA,
I am really puzzled with your comment.
I also like the original very much, which I own but found it’s performances too weak, like so many Armani fragrances. Just a little more than skin sence.
I have ultimate since last December and it is really sensational. Although unlike the profumo version Ultimate’s scent is still very close to the original, which is good. It is sooo much better in longevity and Sillage.
This is now my favorite winter fragrance and in fact gets my highest rating from my entire collection.

  24. :

I like the original Armani code. Based on the reviews I expected a stronger version of the code. Very dissapointed. Smells like the vanilla sticks what you put in your car. Too bad because the reviews says a little vanilla tone. This is just too much tor me

  25. :

    4 out of 5

It was already a weak juice. Typical for Armani. But now it’s watered down. What a shame.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

I’m beginning to think all my favorites are being watered down. Code is a prime example. They simply want to drive up the price with these perfume and extreme and intense versions. First they make money when people buy a weak edition by mistake, and then make more when people have to get their new “intense” version. Same with Farenheit.

Bought this while catching it on eBay through power-seller at $35.00 for the 1.7 oz bottle. In my opinion that was a very good price for Armani Code and I’ve had the original in the collection few times in the past. Went with this Ultimate version of code and I love it. It projects better than the original and still has great vanilla, tonka, woody notes minus the heavy smokiness original has. Not saying I dislike the smokiness since the original is a masterpiece classic fragrance but this ultimate version projects heavier not needing more than 3-4 sprays to be good 7+ hours. Thumbs up!

  28. :

From now on, if a fragrance’s primary characteristics are tonka bean or vanilla, I’m going to have to pass. It’s just not an ingredient for me, and I’ve tried many, such as Midnight in Paris. What Armani Code Ultimate DOES do for me is project. I’d say it is on the high end of moderate. I actually bought this fragrance because I smelled it on a friend, albeit I had to be very close to him. He had the original AC, so I got the ultimate in hopes it would go further. And, well, it does! However, I find this fragrance flat, dull, and boring. To other people, though, I’m confident most women would love to smell this on a man. However, I have to smell it more than they do, and I don’t like it. Kind of strange- I like to smell it on others and wouldn’t mind sensing anyone with it, but I don’t like it on myself. Take what you will from this review. My one last complaint- 2.5oz? Really, Armani? Make the biggest bottle at least 3.3, okay?

    Masculine and mature… A solid fragrance…
“Kate” is a graduate student at an illustrious Ivy League school who was hard at work on a research paper in a local coffee shop when he (she later found out his name was “Evan” by the scribbling on a binder he was carrying) brushed her chair on his way to finding his own table to escape the autumn chill and catch up on work. Engrossed in her paper, she did not initially notice him, but she found herself in the midst of his fragrance wave – soft, masculine, distinguished, refined, vanilla, and woodsy were all words that came to mind – she enjoyed the smell, especially when it was coupled with the distant smells of coffee and an active fireplace. Kate is an attractive woman in her late twenties and considers herself well-kept and stylish. She has been out of school a while, like many of us, joined the working group out of college, but decided that a mind is a terrible thing to waste and entered graduate school years later. She guessed Evan was a “junior” professor at the university, probably mid-thirties, and judging by his distinguished, but rugged look, maybe an expert in archeology or geology. She noticed his modern, albeit disheveled hair, and his retroactive glasses were a clear sign he was intelligent. She also noticed the pen he used, classy and elegant, and the shoes he wore – stylish with a European flare. They caught each other’s eyes for an instant – you know the “look” – and held that moment until it was interrupted by another patron passing through…
At the moment, Kate is single and the longer she enjoyed this distraction, the more she lost interest in her paper. Her heart began to race and she felt giddy. Evan’s fragrance still lingered and this intrigued her… Evan finally settled in to a table diagonal from hers with his cup of java and soon became consumed with a text book all the while taking copious notes with the pen – she came to the conclusion – he was a gentlemen and he wears Armani Code Ultimate. Life comes down to a few moments… Make a move and don’t let a moment pass by…
Armani Code Ultimate is a great fragrance that will garner many compliments. It is refined, distinguished, and a fragrance for gentlemen. Performance is underrated, lasting 7+ hours on me and even longer on clothing at an arm’s length distance or closer. At times – “closer” is a good thing.. You will love this fragrance and I highly recommend adding to any collection. My final tally for Armani Code Ultimate is 4.6 stars out of 5 stars. On a personal note, my Mother purchased this for me last year as a Christmas present. Thanks, Mom – you are the best and I love you very much..!!
Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting…

The user below this comment is a lunatic that has no sense of smell.
If you’re crazy enough to go beyond 3 sprays with this fragrance, I really hope you do not encounter someone with asthma, because you will kill them.
This is a beast at projection in the winter, let alone any other time of year.

smells great. Resembles the original with the dna in the background but is different enough to stand its own. all I can say is I sprayed 5 times and it layed real close to me. Didnt project at all but I expected that from code…

Amazing! Powdery, creamy and sweet with a touch of the original Code, but without those dreadful tobacco notes. It is better than the original and lasts forever!

Great creamy cookie smell. lot of vanilla and tonka bean!
    Project very well.
    great longevity 10h+
casual, dates, office yes (with moderation) night out ..hell yes!
1 or 2 sprays maximum depending where you are.
Is it my kind of fragrance?…no, but I love and I understand why its popular. Great compliment getter from the ladies!
21 and up because I consider it a mature scent, Versace Eros fits more to the younger side than Code Ultimate, but If you love it wear it 🙂

Very nice fragrance, it is relatively simple on your nose but it’s still fantastic and I’m overall infatuated by the smell. Fits 21-mid 30’s men definitely.
Had 3 bottles of this up to now 75ml versions and it’s still something I will be having on my shelf in future. Very alluring fragrance and never met anyone who has disliked it so I don’t know where these dislikes come from. Aromatic finish and simple, I get a few fragrances that are similar in scents like 212 and maybe even a bit of Chanel Allure Homme Sport but this still outshines both.
Definitely worth a buy and even as an EDT it’s very good overall. Much better than YSL La Nuit if you have ever tried that.

Blind bought this, but I do not like it.
Have 30-35 different scents, nearly all are blind bought from reviews here, and normally I do not go wrong= The reviews here are very good= Thanks.
I like the opening, but not the dry down= It is a special smell, and I should have tryed it before.
My advice: Try it before You buy.

  37. :

This is “Armani Code” grown up. the citrussy and lighter oppening in this one is gone, and it goes strictly to bussines: Tonka and vanilla.
Code ultimate is a more serious and calm scent. The original code already had a similar vibe, but the citrus at the openning, gave it more playfulness and a younger vibe; so we could say that while the original was in his 20’s, Code ultimate is the original in his 30’s. the same seductive guy, but with more experience.
I personally prefer the original due to his mix between citrus and sweet tonka and vanilla, that gave it more versatility. This one while I like the scent itself, it just go a little to linear for this kind of fragrances (Date/formal ) and to similar to the original in the dry down.
But if you like the original and want it to be a little more serious, this is the perfect complement to that one.

I really like the original (dry green herbal leather) but the longevity and sillage are below par….in comes “ULTIMATE” Code ?
No not really. I get some similarities at the beginning then it goes right to a men’s shaving cream smell with a heavy synthetic “fem” vanilla on top. Hence I dare to say a man’s shaving cream wearing a training bra. It sort of reminds me of a demented version of the current Drakar Noir a la vanilla.
The good news is the longevity and sillage are great for roughly 4/5 hours.

  39. :

I like it, but the ladies really love it…from 18 to 80. As the name so rightly suggests, this fragrance is the Ultimate Armani Code and far superior to the original. Excellent Fall, Winter and Early-Spring evening fragrance.

I just like it, but so what??..
Women just LOVE it.I can’t understand why but it’s truth.
Also versatile enough as you can wear it any time, any case, any season and also it has excellent longevity and performance.2 sprays are enough for the whole day.

This is a masterpiece. Almost all women love it. Thousand times better than the original. Great signature scent. For all seasons. Day and night. Just perfect. Absolutely delicious. I want this stuff in a 6.7 oz bottle. A compliment getter. 1 Million Absolutely Gold is on the same level. I can recommend them both. One of the best fragrances ever made. Sadly it’s overpriced. Unfortunately a little expensive. But every single dollar worth.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I think I was a little too quick to judge this one. I do think it can be super cloying, sickly sweet, and headache inducing if applied too heavily. I do think the original code is better than this one, however this one does last a lot longer. I feel if this one is applied sparingly, it smells very nice. This almost has a fizzy quality to it, almost like you’re smelling Dr. Pepper or something. Not a bad fragrance, but nothing to write home about. I had my wife blindly smell this yesterday and she told me it reminded her of the smell of a new Barbie doll! LOL She said it brought back memories of her childhood. Too funny.

  43. :

One side of this fragrance reminds me Salvador Dali Black Sun but of course this one is less synthetic and complex fragrance, In terms of uniqueness it does not bring anything new but I think everyone like the smell of it

  44. :

Sensual, rich and expensive when you consider Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels does the same scent but better. If you must wear Armani you and your significant other will enjoy this delicious scent, but you could go or MIP and no one will know.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

BAM. Smoky vanilla and grapefruit up the ass. It’s too much, imo. Dial it back a notch or two and you’ve got a sexy cologne. The citrus gives it a weird zest that doesn’t meld well. I don’t particularly care for it but it’s not repellent.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

This one is more delicious and uplifting than the original. Some sort of Smoky/oud-like accord gives this one the extra push hence the word ULTIMATE. Brilliant for cold winter nights

  47. :

    4 out of 5

I really like this, though I tend to like juice with cedar and vanilla. I tried Code and it lasted 5+ hours. Not horrible longevity, but not fantastic. It had a masculine scent, but not in your face. Reserved and self-disciplined. A confident man, ready to take what the world had to throw at him with style. Armani Code is the cool guy you’re always happy to hang out with on the weekend, one that ladies tend to gravitate towards. It’s good.
It did read a little younger to me though. The confident man who can weather storms, but hasn’t weathered too many yet. I don’t mean that in a bad way, still classy though. More a stylish action hero at the beginning of the tale; yet, a younger one. This is too young for James Bond. I suppose the downside for connoisseurs is that it is reserved without any harsh edge. Also, pretty linear. It didn’t really change that much over the 5 hours it lasted, which is sort of impressive in its own way.
Then again, not everyone is an aficionado, not everyone plans to have a large collection, craves a bold scent way outside the mainstream, and wants a scent that tells a story over time. A guy in his 20s might just want a solid, sexy fragrance that girls at the bar are going to like, that lasts a decent length, and that isn’t a top 10 men’s fragrance (like Acqua di Gio). For that dude, I’d say check out Code. I’d wear this without shame, but I’ll probably never buy it, since it is a little younger and a little simpler than I personally want. I do appreciate a scent that can be masculine without being too burly, and Code does get right up to that line in a way I like.

Is it just me or do I get a powdery rubber accord at the dry down? What is that from?

  52. :

    3 out of 5

The drydown reminds me of van cleef & arpels midnight in paris EDT. Powdery vanilla to me, then it settles down to smell almost exactly like normal Code but a bit more intense on my skin. And yes it is very similar to Dali Black Sun, although Dali is like 4 times cheaper.

  53. :

This is sharp and invigorating. Good as work scent for me as it makes me more alert and beats the afternoon slump. Sprays on skin and one on the shirt. It lasts all day long.

This was the first cologne I purchased for my current boyfriend.
Like him, it is strong, dark, and commanding. When we first went cologne testing, we were both equally enamored with the power of this scent. Smelling it on him filled my senses with lust; I was captured by the concoction. It made him seem stronger and more daring.
It is masculine and dominant. He wears it only while with me. Sexy but not synthetic and toxic like the multitudes of colognes manufactured to make a woman’s panties drop.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

I am surprised to admit that I kind of like this Code Ultimate.
It has decent quality, decent sillage and longevity, and all together smells nice. Ok, I admit that it is well blended also.
The start gives off the same vibe as Ferragamo F Black, but instead of apple/lavender/tonka bean you get anis/vanilla/tonka bean + gaiac. Code Ultimate is also a little more complex and has higher density.
Should theoretically be a big compliment getter.
    A good 3-season evening fragrance for guys 20 – 30.

An excellent addition to the Armani Line.
AC Ultimate lines up well with the original, but adds on a sort of ‘Intense’ vibe with this newest flanker. It spruces up the original with more vanilla flavor, and some woody undertones to give it a very pleasant, professional feel.
I very much enjoy the added longevity on this one as well. To demonstrate, I sprayed it once on my arm about mid morning (~11am), and that night I could still smell it at a good strength around 7pm. Impressive, considering the original died down after about 5-6 hours on my skin.
The projection is quite nice, also. After a couple hours of basking, someone could smell it easily from a foot or two away, and complimented me on the classy vibe it put off.
Spray Recommendations: 1 to the chest, and 2 to the neck….OR, 1 to the chest, 1 to the center of the neck, and one to each arm for better spread and sillage.
Overall, this perfume seeks to impress, and it does this with ease. It tones down the leather of the original, and brings out a slightly more feminine, yet compensatingly masculine vibe, and can easily be worn for just about any occasion- informal or other.
    Longevity: 9/10 (Easily 8-10+ hours)
    Projection: 5/10 (Somewhat soft)
Versatility: 9/10 (Any occasion you darn well please!)
Smell: 8/10 (Quite nice- I can easily see this on a man in a suit, or perhaps a man on a date…VERSATILE!)

Tested in the store and bought based on 1st impression that this was substantially similar to original but with better longevity – win on the longevity, but not similar to the original at all.
Longevity: easily 12 hours, impressive as even A-men struggles to last this long on me
I get these very strong whiffs of cherry syrup note emanating from it all the way from the top notes to the drydown. Anyone else noticing similar? Reminded me of the 1 Million opening.
Overall, I don’t pick up most of the notes listed. For me its a linear cherry syrup and cedar from start to end.

Don’t pay attention to the classical and “boring” (but good) smell at first. Its drydrown (especially middle notes) is just awesome. The Heliotrope / Cypress / Olive combo is a marvel. So deep, woody & powdery, with just enough delicate floral side to not be obnoxious and loud.
Very well done with this one, Armani house ! One of few proofs that mainstream fragrances are not dead yet. You just have to call a niche nose, and voila, you can be as much as inspired than niche ones.

I’m a big fan of Armani Code, for men and for women. I recommend them. I feel ultimate offers a longer lasting version of the original and if your a fan of vanilla you won’t be disappointed. My wife likes the original better and I love them all but lean more toward ultimate. The scent fades big time after about four hours then it sits close for a couple more hours on my skin at least. I usually have to apply it twice in a day.

This is probably the best fragrance from Giorgio Armani, and I’m not a big fan of some of their fragrances. But, this one is pretty good.
Armani Code Ultimate opens up with a really sweet burst of vanilla and tonka bean. When it dries down, it looses some of the sweetness and becomes a little bit creamy and woody with a boozy vanilla vibe. It smells thick and full bodied, like Givenchy Pi for example. I find it to be rather linear, but it is an interesting scent. I think this fragrance is well done. I like it.
Now, since this is supposed to be a flanker to the original Armani Code, you would expect it to have leather and tobacco in the notes. While it is somewhat similar to the original, it lacks the oomph from the tobacco and leather. If you are a big fan of the original Code, I don’t think you would be disappointed with this flanker.
If you are looking for a fall and winter fragrance that is similar to Dior Homme Intense and Givenchy Pi, give this one a try.

By far the best Code around.
This is like Armani Code turned up a few notches and sweetened. Top notes are bright, but burn off into a darker heart. It is sweetened thanks to heliotrope and vanilla. Otherwise, it is similar to the original code ramped up on steroids.
IMO, I felt like the original code was really weak. Perhaps it was a crime it was so weak. People needed to be on you to notice it or you layered the heck out of it. Code Ultimate makes up for that flaw, without turning itself into the next JOOP!
Projection: 9/10 (not room clearing, but not bad either)
Longevity: 10/10 (on you the next day you wake up)
    Sillage: 8/10 (noticeable trail)
Versatility: 7/10 (not for the workplace, this is a night/dating fragrance)
Scent: 10/10 (smooth, pleasant, and unique)
Bang for buck: 7/10 (not cheap)
    Compliments: 9/10
    Overall: 9/10

This instantly reminded me of Black Sun from Salvador Dali. I like it very much. I also like the orignal code very much. So bottom line, this is a very good and nice fragrance.

Very similar with the original indeed. But this is a more improved version. I had and liked the original. While the original is a bit spicy, this one is sweet. Strong
