trupinis – :
Making a good aquatic scent is difficult; I always think it’s easier to ask perfumers to pull out an above-average oriental or floral than an aquatic equivalent, simply because the smell of calone is very pungent and hard to conceal at any time. Here Mark is trying to work out an elegant aquatic floral scent as the name suggests, and while I don’t dislike it, I find it just average, again like so many other aquatic perfumes.
Aquarelle opens with a huge note of artificial berries and crisp/watery white flower resembling LLOV. The opening is loud and dense, and a bit tart from citrus. The watery quality is a better (but not great) version of calone, and the backdrop of cedar is obvious too. The berry note dies down soon though, and I am left with an ambiguous white floral smell with a touch of tart fruitiness, reminding me of some pleasant cleansing products for the bathroom. Although powdery note is listed it cannot be smelled in the oil at all. And amber? Nahhhhhhh.
The lasting power is less than other perfume oils of this line, at around 4 hours.
Sorry Mark, I really like most of your other work but I’ll pass on this one.
