Description
For the event of opening of renovated main boutique La Maison Guerlain (The House of Guerlain) at 68 Avenue des Champs-Elysées, Paris, Guerlain launched exclusive line of three perfumes – L ‘Art et la Matière (The Art and (raw) Material, a pun after the French expression L’Art et la Manière – the art and manners). Three famous noses were invited to work on the perfumes using the highest quality materials. The perfumes were launched in 2005.
Angélique Noire is the third fragrance of the series, created by Daniela Andrièr. It was an attempt to reproduce the famous compositions of the house. Sweet and strong beginning with spices and piquant freshness of bergamot is mixing with milky bitterness of almond and vanilla notes. Unusual harmony of the fresh bergamot and sweet vanilla is a trademark of classical compositions of Guerlain. Spicy harshness of the beginning is contrasting creamy and sweet base which includes mildly spicy and sugary notes of angelica.
The nose behind this fragrance is Daniela (Roche) Andrier.

The scent to die for…
Heaven in a bottle
Angélique Noire is a georgeous creation from guerlain. I get a powdery vanilla which is different from other vanilla fragrances.
Although this is unisex but I think women can pull it off better. It Makes men go crazy when they smell it on them (Just like me)
Just masterpiece
artembelovich – :
I totally agree with SaraX, this is HEAVENLY! I usually don’t like vanilla heavy fragrances, but this one totally blew my mind. This is exquisite, well balanced and simply gorgeous.
It starts off very green and I think that’s what prevents this fragrance from being cloying. The greenness is softened after a few minutes, but never really goes away. The spices are never too prominent, but give the perfume a soft edge. The vanilla is smooth, soft and velvety, never too sweet. It’s is sophisticated and wearable.
I’ve fallen head over heal in love with this perfume and I’m so happy I decided to buy it when I visited the Guerlain store on Champs-Elysées in Paris. My dad also loves it, it’s actually the only perfume he ever asked me to bring back so he can get a few sprays on his clothes. The performance is impeccable.
Angélique Noir is another masterpiece from Guerlain.
LucasNeks – :
This is heavenly!
I never expected to find anything nearly as beautiful as my beloved L’Instant, but Guerlain has done it here again.
There is something very special on how the house of Guerlain handles the vanilla notes in their scents. I just happen to love the Guerlain Vanilla. It’s not overly sweet and it has that very sophisticated icy coldness to it: sweet icy sophisticated vanilla.
I also get the almond and a hint of honey here, both blended so well together with the vanilla. And trust me, not overly sweet at all. I think it’s the icy cold spices that balance the sweetness in a perfect manner.
I get no especially musky notes from this on my skin, nor is it a very warm scent on my skin, which I absolutely love.
So if you are expecting a very dark, warm and musky scent, you will most likely be disappointed with this.
But if you are expecting a beautiful sophisticated heavenly vanilla blended with cool spices, some almond and cool toned honey, this is for you.
divoom89 – :
I absolutely love it! Enveloping vanilla, sweet, dark, and a punch from angelica. It is so creamy without being powdery. I can’t stop smelling it! One little tiny spray (I am nursing my decant) stayed on my dress for over a week. I didn’t want to wash the dress so that I can come home, pick up the dress from the dresser and sniff, sniff, sniff this gorgeousness! I don’t know how well it projects, I usually spray perfume for myself. To me it is worth every penny!
Iamshara – :
Finally broke down and bought a bottle after almost physically licking my decant clean. I’m looking forward to spraying a little more liberally.
I think this is the most beautiful vanilla I own. Top 10 perfumes in my collection, I can wear it in every season minus the few days in the Pacific Northwest that manage to climb over 80 degrees.
So natural smelling, gonna attribute that to the gorgeous Angelica note. It’s not really a floral, it’s not overtly woody and thank god it’s not a sweet gourmand. Paradoxically it does contain a small bit of all those components. I feel like my review will never do this beauty justice.
Perfect amount of projection over the course of two hours, then stellar longevity. It lasts all day and then some. I’m already thinking of buying a backup bottle. Damn this is f’ing amazing!
malish0212 – :
What a beautiful and magical fragrance. This is stunning! I was shopping and spritizing at Epcot in Disney, looking for something new and I fell in love again. I owned this before but never loved it like I do now!
The sillage is good, the longevity is GREAT, I got it last night at 9:00 pm and I just woke up and it’s still strong on me. The gentleman in the Guerlain shop gave me a great idea to spray my Guerlain Gourmond Coquin (chocolate) with the Angélique Noire (vanilla) together on myself to create a fantastic gourmand fragrance. I will try at home.
The Angélique has a vanilla floral scent to me, the jasmine peeks through. Angelica and vanilla walk hand in hand just amazing.
It is a bit pricy but in my eyes worth every penny. Love!
gash-hash – :
Stunning. An interplay of the bitter, astringent green of Angelica root with the pure ecstasy of Guerlain Vanilla. Beautifully balanced, and truly intoxicating.
prime – :
First of all, very similar to l’instant. A grown up version of it
That being said, it’s so intoxicatingly feminine… I enjoy the aroma and the cloud it creates , it is very sensual, soft and warm. I one quite a collection by now of niche fragrances, so I feel guilty shelling out so much for another Guerlain, especially one that reminds me of a cheaper creation – l’instant, and am thinking to give this one to my mom. But at the same time I want to have it for myself. It’s so sophisticated, and rich, and I’m sure it’s a compliment getter, unlike so many niche frags
halid – :
This was a slow burn love for me. It didn’t grab me at first. Then it was an on again off again affair for a while. Right now it’s obsession and I think it’s firmly under my skin.
In the bottle it looks… nothing, brown. The beginning, simple, almost comic. Just a pulse of green angelica, like a herby bouquet. And then suddenly, high above it, vanilla. A single exquisite note hanging there, smooth and unwavering. Until the pear joins in… sweetens it into a phrase of such delight. This is no composition by a performing monkey. Ok that got a bit weird at the end, and yes I’m shamelessly stealing from Salieri describing the music of Mozart, but it’s that good and actually quite fitting. I’m going starry eyed thinking about it!
I find myself fantasising about a vanilla, pear and angelica icecream – how delicious would that be?! I guess that makes this fragrance a definite gourmand, but I don’t find it sticky sweet. Just cosy perfection. For me, it’s fairly casual – comfy couch days in winter, or a summer garden party. Delightful.
Bugor22 – :
I don’t know what is particularly “noir” about this, but it’s gorgeous. A delicate blend of sweet, creamy vanilla and cool, herbal spice. It smells like a rich pancotta flavoured with anise. It’s dense, but not suffocating even when first applied, it maintains a light, plush fluffy feel. I’m in love. Not totally sure how unisex it is, to me it seems rather soft, white and cuddly, so more feminine perhaps, but it’s a head-turner for sure.
protek81 – :
I blind bought this because I adore angelica and vanilla. Glad I did, this is now my signature scent. Dark and mysterious, sweet and happy, sensual… a paradox like me. Angelica is indeed the star here. It lasts ages, and evolves on the skin. I’ve never smelled anything quite like it, and it seems to attract people like bees. FB worthy.
ajron – :
Not Noire, more green. Green Vanilla Angelica.
I tend towards niche brands but have really fallen for the smoothness of a lot of Guerlain scents. This opens with alot of angelica, a bright cool green like a florist shop or the smell of cutting the stems of a bouquet. If you spray too much, this phase is too perfumey and juicy, almost like a pear syrup. The coolness gives it a feeling like an old fashioned cold cream for face but then warms up to, I guess, a fresh vanilla woods. It is hard for me to distinguish the separate notes in this scent besides vanilla and angelica, which I think is why I like it.
This was nice the first time I tried it but I thought the drydown was to basic to buy a full bottle. The more I wore it, the more I appreciated how smooth, fresh and rich it is. One of only a handful a fragrances I really love.
diomevaistata – :
I bought this because of the wonderful reviews and because something about it reminded me of my beloved grandmother. Granny used to bake with candied Angelica. She would cut the glacé stalks into little pieces and fold them into a semolina pie she made for us as children. There was a green herbal quality to Angelica that’s not so easy to describe. Apparently the herb belongs to the parsley family, and it’s not that easy to get the plant nor the candied stalks in Sydney although I am sure both are readily available in Europe.
Thankfully the newer bottles don’t have that ineffective spray bulb that some marketing person at Guerlain thought might add a touch of romance and retro glamour to the packaging, because that’s so much more important than function….er no.
I sense a woody herbal composition layered over with creamy vanilla and soft florals. Slight musky smokiness to this beauty, great staying power and sillage. I didn’t sense plastic but I will be on the look out for it next time I wear it.
spikers35 – :
Wow! I’m wearing a sample and I’m mesmerized. So beautiful, lovely and memorable. I’ll be buying a FB as soon as I can, and I’ll be back to write a more detailed review when I can collect my thoughts.
Definitely a 10
sv3007 – :
I love this because it doesn’t smell like all the other department store perfumes. I’m guessing it’s the Angelica that makes this so different. It is very sweet and a tad bitter. It lasts forever on my skin. 12+ hours. I didn’t even apply perfume the next day because I could still smell it. So very beautiful!!
vit_vitych – :
This one smells very similar to L’instant de Guerlain to me, with less almond.
GoldMan26 – :
This Guerlain masterpiece opens up with a very fresh herbal green dewy lush note with powdery non gourmand vanilla background. It’s both cool and warm. The SA recommended layering this with the Double Vanille to give even more warmth and new complexity. I am loving the new regular spray bottles that replaced the bulb atomizers. The perfume smells so much stronger and only needs two pumps instead of ten. Glad I waited for the new bottle design for this one.
dima-em – :
If you want to smell of high class, please wear this. Incredible blend. The fragrance just blossoms on skin perfectly. Smells completely different on my skin versus my girlfriend so I find the perfectly unisex. Very unique as well.
вадим17041995 – :
Eau Duelle? Is that you? Almost had me fooled, Angelique. Maybe you’re her older sister, because you definitely have a deeper aura of maturity.
Angelique Noir opens smelling the same as when she dries down. I didn’t detect any top notes, just a smooth vanilla and aromatic angelica. AN smells expensive, no doubt, but is fairly to the point and straightforward.
The vanilla isn’t edible, it’s more of a cool vanilla suitable for summer days.
The longevity is superb!!
I would honestly just go with Eau Duelle, which is a tad bit fresher and has a much lower price point.
Angelique is really, really good…but Eau Duelle might be the better of the bunch.
Leslie24 – :
I am so glad I bought this fragrance. It is beautiful and smells like nothing else in my collection. It is a powdery fresh vanilla with a floral green aspect. It reminds me of green mini marshmallows in the most positive way. Performance is first rate and I can wear this any time, anywhere. 10/10

I got a sample of Angelique Noire today. beautiful scent indeed. The Vanilla is a bit heavy and sweet, but the Caraway doesn’t make the Vanilla syrupsweet – thats good. The mix of Pear, Angelica and Jasmine is very nice. Pure Lux. Elegant and sensual. After wearing Angelique Noire a few times it hits me – its very alike Shalimar, but rounder, without the citrus and a bit softer fresher vanilla. Shalimar on my skin turns male’ish – Angelique Noire is what I whish Shalimar to be – A true beauty, and I have bought a bottle – darn expensive but I don’t care. This is a keeper!!

This smells like two different perfumes layered together. It’s interesting, and I think I like it.
I might be able to pull off this vanilla in warm LA temperatures thanks to the green freshness from the angelica/pear/cedar. I’ll have to test again for sure.
balyaev10 – :
Spicy green and comforting warm at the same time. Very unique, don’t know anything similar. To me the best fragrance out of the L’ Art e la Matiere line. Right before Tonka Imperial, which is gorgeous too but has it’s alikes.
valiullv – :
This frag should be named Angelica Chameleon … the only Guerlain I’m unable to analyse regarding its construction.
It is rather cheap because you get a dozen of frags for the price of one 🙂 , and its almost unpredictable as at any moment I never know what comes next, except for the vanilla-musky-angelica-woody base which remains, but what also remains is the question if the frag is not reviving the one you sprayed yesterday !
So strange … I’m puzzled … this is sort of a wonder frag!
But whenever you offer a Wonder Box, you are mainly looking forward. Let me explain: when I spray AN in the morning, I get all the kaleidoscopic frags of AN during the day, with the base notes remaining, the later in the evening the more vanilla. Then at bedtime I spray a white floral frag like Mon Precieux Nectar, or any other which usually is gone the next morning. Well, with the base notes of AN still present in the evening, my subsequent white floral is still there when I get up in the morning. Well this is certainly due to my skin and may not be the same for other readers, but I didn’t get this effect with any other frag, even “heavy” vanillas from Ford, Montale or Dior.
All in all, this is my true Angelina, more Magic than Jolie … 🙂
soydrisse – :
This perfume is very different and complex from others similars. It changes on my skin through out the day and lasts for hours.
etz373speagoessenda – :
Like vanilla but better, because subtle, sophisticated
and deep. A vanilla how I expect a vanilla to be – herbal. This smell wanders. Sometimes it steps on a weird area that I can’t say is bitter but somewhat skanky or dissonant. So the angelica opening is a standing ovation for me where I get back to my chair during the dry down.
urisch – :
Angelique Noire is herbal, bitter-sweet and just a bit fruity. It has that upscale niche-Guerlain quality and is definitely more feminine.
A very luxurious perfume that evokes sophistication.
stas_logica – :
This is easily one of my favourite fragrances as of late. It’s so smooth and beautiful. I know I will get this again and again.
Angelique Noir is a fresh , smooth warm vanilla fragrance. It’s fruity lush , green and vanillic . Extremely well blended and melts into the skin.
I believe it’s the only fresh green vanilla fragrance I know. It’s addictive.
The only bad thing is the redicules spray nozzle. Pumps out more air than perfume, I decant mine into a 10ml travel athomizer so I can actually enjoy the spraying part. Due to many complaints Guerlain is finnaly making it into a regular spraybottle. Can’t wait ! Will wait to repurchase once new bottle is sold.
sygun – :
For the past four years I have obsessed over and lauded Angélique Noire. I received it as a sample and saved up for a bottle to call my own. It was the first bottle for which I ever needed to save up; prior to that I was okay with capping my perfume budget to $40 and under. This time, though, money was not going to come between my beloved and me. So why did I set this personal precedent?
Angélique Noire’s inimitability is in its whimsical green nature. Make no mistake: this is an Oriental Vanilla but it isn’t of the typical sort. Here is a rich vanilla nestled in a deep woods. There is dark greenery and something mildly sugary but nothing so exaggerated. I’ve likened this to The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, where quirky outdoor happenings are transpiring and vanilla buttercream cake is being served. If any scent could be described as adorkable this is it.
I have always loved vanilla. I’ve loved it as a flavor and as a scent. However, if I was being honest with myself, I thought there was only a finite amount of ways to present vanilla in perfume form. Further, I thought vanilla was only limited to smelling like the spice rack staple and nothing more. With Angélique Noire I learned that vanilla could be altered in such a way that it could be instantly recognizable but entirely unique. I tried in vain to find something similar but I’ve yet to find its equal. I was forced to accept and pay its asking price. I’d be happy to do the same again.
zloyGeniy – :
Oh God, yes! This is in my top three. I had my sample on for five minutes and picked up the phone and ordered a full bottle. It’s one of two scents my preschool age son has ever said smells so good on me. My husband complimented it too. I have to think about the sensitives of others when I apply it because I want to screw the lid off and splash it all over myself!
Bitter, bitter, sharp, earthy green top notes and sweet, creamy, sensual vanilla. Its gorgeous! It’s sexy! It’s even a little matronly but in the way you remember your mother at her most beautiful moments. Its all of the things and it’s MINE!!!!
Dmozing – :
Green, very green, like breaking off the top of an unripe banana. Also vanillic and a tiny bit woody. Not really what I expected, I guess, but it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Рыжая Катрин – :
The opening is very nice and sort of fresh boozy. But in 5 to 10 mins it develops into something sweet, thick and tired. Sillage and projection are strong. Don’t be too trigger happy with this one, otherwise you’d have people complaining about headaches around you.
Certainly better for women than men. But I don’t like it on my wife either.
RooneyRealkz – :
Reviewer Diane1953 said it all. This perfume is just perfect in every way.
One word, Beautiful.
Footnote, To Reviewer olive2023, a big thank you. You’re correct in saying that Nordstrom still have this available and for $100 less than current ( and recently inflated ) eBay prices. Under $400 AUD.
I’m excited to know I can have a bottle of this for my 50th. And that will be something to own with great pride and joy. 🙂
Andrew29rus – :
Gosh I nearly fainted at learning the price of this range of beauties…. oh well I can dream of owning them and that is free!
2manuw – :
Slightly herbal, very lush vanilla with what smells like tonka in the base. I like the slightly greenish/sweet note of angelica and find that it works well on my skin, never harsh nor sharp. Very subtle and harmonious, a go-anywhere fragrance for day or night. Very moderate silage and over 12 hour longevity.
Notes: angelica, bergamot, vanilla (from Guerlain’s website).
kqc579speagoessenda – :
If Guerlain stuck to fragrances like Angelique Noire I wouldn’t be so grumpy. I find it quite unique, very high quality in persistence and sillage, one of about two perfumes worthy of an astronomical price tag. There is a brilliantly judged balance between a greenish, but deep green vegetal almost French bean note which must be angelica, and the sweetest, most luxurious vanilla. I’m just cheating and looking at the notes to see what it is that sweetens the mix. Pear??? Hrrmmmm. Possibly. Some fructonic pigment but very subtle. Is it reminding me of the old streetwalker Must de Cartier? Maybe, because I loooovved that bad girl too….
Wait. The floral in this beauty has to be violet. Surely not a green L Heure Bleue….:):):) oh that makes me smile!
BadBlood – :
‘L’Art et la Matiere’ Angelique Noire (Eau de Parfum sample)
This is gorgeous! Angelica Noire is an elegant and sensual fragrance. Angelica and Vanilla are in harmony, they both appealed to me. It is impossible to find a bottle of this!
The first spray is a bright citrus. There is a gentle bitterness that comes with the top notes. The citrus top note dissipates as the Angelica quickly makes her entrance, it is blissfully herbal, bitter, aromatic, and green. The floral jasmine delicately comes though. Angelica is still strong and is the note I smell most of all. It is gorgeous. After a time on my skin the vanilla emerges slowly with cedar. The jasmine is very delicate, there is a sheer musk, pear is faint adding a gentle sweetness. The vanilla is pleasing, delicious, compliments the Angelica beautifully.
Longevity on my skin is about 7 hours and after a few hours of wearing, Angelica becomes delicate- nose to wrist sillage.
The wearer will be wrapped in an Angelica cloud, it is unique, complex, and a high quality fragrance.
ruab – :
Sharp, sour angelica in the top notes, playing the roll that citruses usually play. It is too much for me. The intense sourness begins to meld with a solid, creamy vanilla note. While I was wanting to scrub, people around me were oooh-ing and ahhh-ing at how wonderful I smelled.
I see this as sort of like Guerlain’s fine version of Eau de Shalimar, as the latter has that sharp lime note coupled with vanilla. I prefer Eau de Shalimar.
deniskda – :
This starts out with a bright blast of greens and florals, I’m guessing it’s the angelica. I was actually surprised by how green it is. It also has a clean sort of vibe. I get hints of the pear as well, a little fruitiness in the background.
The vanilla slowly sidles up and smooths everything down, but I don’t think it’s a major player. I mostly get the angelica with cedar, though the vanilla is definitely noticeable. Like the rest of the line, it wears close to the skin. A little warm, yet still a little fresh; almost reminds me of Diptyque Eau Duelle in a way. Definite unisex.
The best part of this fragrance is about 1 hour in, THEN the vanilla takes over and it becomes delicious. The angelica is still there but it ends up taking a back seat along with the woods. I love this stage, but it takes too long to get past the initial herbal aroma for me. Very lovely though, I’ll enjoy my sample.
TiessSismPaps – :
Love it… all do i think its more feminine them male I don’t really care… this is vanilla done the way it should be… its deep inviting addictive even. Love the opening where angelica is the note that dominates where u might get tricked thinking this frag is not what it says it is… but let it sit for 15 minutes on the skin and see how the vanilla creeps in the front… wow just wow i am so glad i added this one into my collection.
Storm – :
I courted the perfume counters at Neiman’s for about 3 months in search of a new signature. I was looking for something warm, wearable, and oriental. After 3 months of trying just about everything, I sprayed this: it was love at first sniff. The first thing that struck me was how the spray dispersed on my blotter. Before I even lifted it up to my nose, I noticed that the perfume had left a spray of golden color on the piece of paper. I don’t know why Angelique Noire stained the blotter where other darker (in color) fragrances did not, but I was intrigued. Perhaps the oils in the perfume? Very curious.
I remember the first time bringing it up to my nose – pure love – the herbal opening grabbed my attention, but behind it I could sense a warm, lush and luxurious vanilla paired with dark airy woods and fruit. It is extremely modern; I’ve heard this compared to Shalimar, or rather, Shalimar’s drydown brought to the front, which does make sense considering the drydown of Shalimar is sweet and vanillary, and Angelique Noire has a strong vanilla note at the front and throughout the life of the fragrance. However, Angelique Noire, unlike Shalimar, is extremely modern. The Guerlinade is there, but it leaves no hint of an era gone by. In my opinion, to make the Guerlinade smell modern is quite a feat! Very well done, Daniela Andrier.
For me, the opening paired with the warmth of the vanilla is sophistication and sensuality at its finest. This is not the sex bomb Tom Ford Black Orchid, neither is it the woody sweet Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille. This is something else – this is a classy businesswoman in a little black dress with a tailored jacket by day; and a mysterious dark sensual seductress by night. A woman who knows how to live and how to love.
makson1831 – :
Wow, this is some serious grown-up vanilla with monstrous lasting power! Still going strong after a WEEK on my clothes. I like warm vanilla scents, and this is beautifully made, great silage, staying power is beyond what a human being needs 🙂 but there is something deeply disturbing about it, it just sits on top of me, commanding, and never really blends in. Maybe the bitterness of angelica, maybe the muskiness – and this one is seriously musky. I like is most of all the line, but still not enough to purchase. Cruel Gardenia is the next favourite one from the range. I still cannot find a Guerlain which I would enjoy, except for Terracotta Le Parfum which is divine.
vug327elipseskism – :
In response to Sunnyinphilly’s question if this has been discontinued, it’s NOT discontinued as of today (5/12/15). It’s available at the Nordstrom website for less than a hundred dollars from what Ebay is asking for, back-ordered (not discontinued) and available on the 29th of May. Be careful with all the inflated prices on Ebay .
As a review, this is a unique vanilla because it’s not the regular foody kind. The Angelica gives it an herbal nuance. It is still beautifully sweet but it has hints of a fresh herb or some sort of grass. It also lasts a very long time. Anyone can smell the quality and elegance of this fragrance from Guerlain.
dryny25 – :
why on ebay eveybody says it has been discontinued? is it for real????

Gorgeous fresh herbal/bergamot opening, with the angelica note smelling so natural and vibrant, and unfolding layers of creamy gourmand vanilla and jasmine.
Absolutely ravishingly and deliciously beautiful.
mirovlas – :
It’s a miss for me. One of the ‘wanted to love it’ scents but I just can never get past a bitter-green opening that offsets so many Niches to satisfy the aspect of being ‘challenging and different’
So, unfortunately for me this no way managed to even hold a candle to the House’s SDV.
Artemisia and angelica are used for the green effect, so beware if expecting to dive into syrupy-sweet heaven straight from the off!
The greenness at the opening is pretty strong and less like pines and more a eucalyptus, pine and wild fresh cut grass tonic mix.
This sadly mess up the any ‘pear’ accord trying to wiggle through, so I got that ‘something vaguely fruity’ / ‘could be pears now I saw the note list’ impression.
Even then, it would be a greened pear, the issue here now 10 minutes in is that it is no hyper-sweet monster like SDV (said in a good way!)
It just seems all underwhelming in the end for this level, you are looking for beautiful pears and (berries?) and there’s little to none.
I strongly prefer osmanthus, but then this would maybe over-sweeten the whole scent and other notes would have to be changed.
Guerlain does an osmathus-citrus based scent like a few others have done; it’s called Myrrh and delires, and check that out.
As of now, I’ll have to give this a very low personal rating because for $260 for 75mls I cannot see the pungent wild grass opening sweeping half as many customers as SDV – and indeed from one glamorous outlet at least, it isn’t even close.
Personal rating: 3/10.
Quality: 9/10.

I’ve owned Angelique Noire for two years now. It was love at first sniff and my enthusiasm has not waned since, an absolutely gorgeous Angelica vanilla. It suits many moods, but for me it is one of those “comfort” scents–the ones you turn to on a gloomy or lonely day. I’ll often spritz it right before bed when my husband travels, and just lie in bed, enjoying the goodness of it all.

Well, here goes, my first review. I was seduced by this perfume last March. Was minding my own business walking thru the perfume department of a large store, when a charming woman from the Guerlain counter asked if I might like to smell some perfumes that were there for a ‘trunk show’. It was love at first smell. From beginning to end, no fragrance had made me feel like this before. Once I found out the price, I had to walk away. The clever Guerlain rep sprayed a little of Angelique on my scarf.
The following morning I woke up and could smell Angelique, coming from somewhere in my house. It was the scarf. Over the next few days, I kept going to my scarf to sniff. It was simply intoxicating. I became obsessed over how I would ever be able to afford and acquire this fragrance. Being part of a trunk show, Angelique had left the city. (The charming Guerlain rep got a bottle of my precious scent shipped out from Montreal.)
I am not proficient at perfume speak so I cannot go on about notes. What I can say is that when I wear this fragrance, I feel like a strong, beautiful and elegant french woman. Most perfumes that I like – and there don’t seem to be many – feel as if something is missing. Angelique Noire feels complete.

Men’s review:
WOW
Quality!!
This is a scent that really amazed me. Smells like a milliard $$. Litteraly smells like a rich person.
A bit feminine, mens can wear it though. Exetremley sexy!!
I mainly smell musk, vanilla(dominate) and a hint of florals, very rich and well blended
The dry down might be a little boring for some people.
Projection is unbelievable, longevity- at least 24 hours
Smells a bit like HYPNOSE for female by lancome

When I first sprayed this, I loved it. This continued for about and hour or so. Thereafter it began to feel cloyingly sweet and lost the fresh, aniseedy, heliotropy , bitter opening that I had liked so much. The sweetness was distracting and finally unbearable. If you like this perfume, then the good thing is it seems to have incredible lasting power…Even after my shower the next morning I could still smell it. The opening was wonderful and if it had stayed like that on me I would have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

This is jaw dropping gorgeous, it has that magical Guerlain signature fairy dust notes you cannot mistake.
