Fragrance Review For Angel Fire Mary Kay
Top Notes: Bergamot Lemon Green Notes Galbanum
Middle Notes: Tuberose Jasmine Rose Lily of the Valley
    Base Notes: Sandalwood Musk Vetiver
My mother had a ton of Mary Kay perfumes when I was little. I will ask her if she still has some of them so that I can review them on Fragrantica and decide whether I’d wear some of them or not! Mary Kay and Avon used to be competitors, the most common and most affordable of American household perfumes. This fragrance is nothing like you’d imagine it would be: cheap. Far from cheap. It’s a luxurious chypre floral musk. It can pass for a Chanel, like a No. 5 without the aldehydes. This has a distinct galbanum as it opens. To my nose this immediately sets the mood and that mood is dark chypre woods. But at the same time it’s not never too dense or heavy or dark. It opens with fresh citrus. Then it turns flowery with big tuberose and rose. A lily of the valley is also in there somewhere. The dry down is a lot of good things: musk and sandalwood as well as vetiver. This is full bodied and long lasting, vintage, elegant, and mature but not old lady ish. A fragrance for a woman who enjoys real perfumes not little body mists. Beautiful. On my mother it smelled divine. On me it smells good and I enjoy inhaling that galbanum. I’m nuts about galbanum.

There is a new fragrance in the Mary Kay line that is similar to Angelfire, it’s called “Thinking of You”. Angelfire was discontinued in 2007. Any bottle(s) currently for sell on online auction sites are grossly out of their shelf-life and should not be trusted.

My stepsister wore this back in the day and I borrowed it whenever I was sure I could get away with it. She was allowed to wear more adult fragrances than I was even though she was younger than me! Someone was always hosting a Mary Kay party back then. Angelfire was my first whiff of a floriental and I loved it. I wonder if they’re still making this?

I’ve been thinking about this one. Wonder if Mary Kay still sells it. I have owned this twice before. It was a fresh go to scent for me. Soft, powdery, yet
quite unique. Would love to get another bottle soon!!

So glad that someone added this to the database!! I wore this back in the mid 90’s. I really liked it. I remember it smelling really fresh, but that’s just me. It had a retro vibe to it. It did smell like something that was produced in the 70’s. That’s ok though…I love all those old fragrances. I could see myself wearing this one again.
