Description

Thierry Mugler launches Angel Étoile des Rêves fragrance and scented candle as a special reinterpretation of the legendary gourmand fragrance Angel from 1992, made specifically for the night and its rituals. Angel Etoile des Rêves Eau de Nuit, the “Eau de Parfum for the Night”, is a limited edition available from October 2016.

“Wrap yourself with a delicate negligee of scent as you unveil a new night ritual with the sensual ANGEL Etoile des Rêves. This new Star is an intimate, intense version of ANGEL with an intoxicating fragrance that lasts… all night long. Even the stars won’t resist you!”

The oriental–gourmand composition of the new edition is enriched with large quantities of soft white musk to provide the illusion of silk lingerie and cashmere blankets. The sensual perfume of comfort and clean linen is composed of bergamot, praline, patchouli, vanilla and white musk.

The luxurious, round glass bottle in a dark blue color comes with an atomizer pump. The fragrance is available as a 100 ml Eau de Parfum for the price of $135 USD.

One more pleasure in the Angel galaxy. Mugler still launches beautiful and affordable bottles for its perfumes and admirers, not only > $ 10.000!
After a long break I’m back into Angel’s spellbound and this little sister stands next to my bed, easy to grab and spray. No projection but lasts on fabric and smells nice under the blanket. Soft enough for any heavy heavy sprayer who expects nice sweet dreams.
But too musky and too sweet to be compared with original 1992 Angel.

Glorious bottle, gorgeous spritzer, fabulous scent.
I wish projection was stronger, but I realize that this is marketed as a “perfume for the night”.

It smells very similar to the original Angel. Just lighter and warmer (and a bit greener). i don’t like the original Angel and i also don’t like this one. I will give it to my aunt, she will surely like it.

This is what happens when Angel EDP and LVEB L’Absolu have a baby… seriously. I could just layer those two fragrances and achieve the same effect but then I would miss out on the beautiful bottle.. 🙂
Actually, Etoile des Reves may be best experienced by layering on top of a squirt of Angel. I find it to be somewhat short-lived and quiet compared to the beast that is Angel. It is luscious though.. that praline! Where patchouli is the main player in Angel, praline is the star of the show in this fragrance while patchouli is just a prop in the background.
If you’re like me and have a difficult relationship with Angel, check this one out. Some days Angel smells amazing on me.. sweet sexy gourmand beauty.. other days, it is like straight up unwashed hippie BO on me.. on those days I will whip this little baby out and force Angel into submission, so to speak 🙂
edit: Maybe I was wrong about the projection/longevity of this fragrance. I have been wearing it for several hours and it’s going strong.. it’s created a glorious cloud of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, buttery praline candy-shop goodness all around me with a bit of a bite from that sharp patch. I will be reaching for this very often in the near future.. wow. This fragrance has a lot of depth to it.. it’s reminding me very much of Angel Muse but more complex and warmer.

oh, heaven. angel on easy mode, the dirtiness and masculinity washed away. how neptune planets smells in my dreams. cold blue menthol topped with sugar and cream. exotic and friendly. for once i strike gold with a blind buy.

    Edit:
I still absolutely love the scent but given the full retail price is over £100… the atomiser feels flimsy and I’m worried it will not last.
You can twist it ‘off’ but I will not be taking this anywhere… it shall live in a dark room in its upright position.
    The scent is divine!

    A warning
I love this scent, one of my favorite muglers along with sunessence. The bottle is beautiful with the bulb atomizer, although not user friendly. I was terribly upset when I came home to my bedroom smelling strongly of Etoile…the bottle had tipped and 3/4 of it had leaked into my nightstand drawer, so sad!
Good news though. I wrote to Muglers Canada and they sent me a replacement bottle, which I will be very careful with where I store it. I thought the first bottle was defective as the ‘twist lock’ can be shifted open very easily leading to leaking. The second bottle sent is exactly the same, so it’s basically a bad design.
I have found it easier for me to open the twist lock and tap the perfume on my skin..it flows quite easily and I think there is less waste with over spray.
So all in all, beautiful perfume, but bad bottle design.
PS Totally agree with Germany’s review…it does sort of remind me of an Oreo 🙂

I think this is one of the best versions of angel. Super cute and cuddly, the patchouli is so mellow. I like it overall, but I don’t like how it’s soft. Not saying I want more patchouli, the toned down patchouli in this is like just enough. but I would love if its creamy chocolate was deepened much more. Then again this is designed to be a perfume for sleeping, so it’s light and soft. If you find other muglers like alien and angel to be too strong, try this one out. I personally like the boldness of other muglers, so I wish this one had it, just not the same plastic-metal boldness as angel.
Opening seems harsh like the original angel, but quickly calms to a lighter version of the characteristic angel patchouli. Then the patchouli fades as the awesome creamy chocolate increases backed with a soft muted musk. It’s similar to how angel gets more gourmand as it drys down, but because of the toned down patchouli, the gourmand notes get to shine more. The gourmand notes are creamy rather than angel’s metal caramel. This doesn’t have the same synthetic feel as angel; it’s more refined gourmands.
Longevity is decent, but like I said, it’s pretty light for a mugler. What lasts is a smooth narcotic chocolate-creaminess, with a sparkle of the angel patchouli. It smells like the bottle’s transparent blue color, mellow and comforting. Sillage is pretty moderate, especially the creamy drydown when it becomes majority skin close.
Overall I voted “like” and think it’s a step in the right direction for angel. I really hope the next flanker expands on something like this, because its character could be more unique with a little more/deeper dreamy creamy chocolate and musk. But I still like it and would wear it.
    Composition: 4/5, Quality: 4/5

I was desperate for this upon launch and it sold out..
THEN suddenly reappeared on Mugler UK… and reduced!
I am thrilled! This is very close to the original Angel EDP.
While softer in projection it still lasts a long time. Angel EDP was always caramel heavy on my skin and while I still own and love the EDP, it’s more powdery and chocolate heavy.
The drydown on this is amazing! To casual fans it may be too similar in personality to the original but for a Mugler Addict, this is just what the Dr ordered!
I love the bottle and the atomiser. It does feel delicate but I am glad to see the option to ‘turn it off’ to preserve the scent and prevent contamination.
If you love Angel, you will love this precious edition!

Angel Etolie des Reves is amazing ! I have been wearing it for the past 4 days. My general rules for reviews is to wear a scent at least a few days before writing a review. One doesn’t get to know a scent in a few hours or a run to the mall with a squirt to the hand , with other fragrances around. Anyways when I first smelled this I thought it was the same as the original angel or at least very very close. However now I realize it’s quite a bit different.
This one is much softer than Angel EDP , it’s more muted and easier to like. I LOVE the EDP but only if sprayed once or tops twice ,it can be dark and overpowering. This one however is light and soft ,sweet and cottony ,super pleasant and edible ,sexy and dreamy. Almost has a milky presents.
It’s basically the same smell as EDP but made ,softer ,more pleasant to the main crowd and lighter and more musky. The bottle is super cute and the diffuser puts just enough juice on you if you spray it twice or 3 times. I generally spray my skin but with this one I love it on my clothes. It developed just as good ,if not better on my clothes as it does on my skin ,which I can’t say about many fragrances.
Complete winner ! And no I don’t only wear this to bed as suggested. I love it all day , but it is beautiful snuggle scent.
The smell resembles an Oreo cookie , my husband is obsessed with it.

This was a blind buy (which I don’t normally do) because I love the bottle, and I’m so glad that I did! Personally, I don’t use this on my bed linen and pillows but I can see why some do.
I use this during the colder weather, which is a fair amount in the UK. For me, it’s a far more intense version of Angel than most other flankers, with the exception of the ToF, which I also absolutely love.
Definitely one I’d recommend to use for special occasions; the atomiser pump makes the ritual feel so much more glamorous. I’d love to see this as a refill option but somehow, I doubt that will.

I blind bought this, the “Star of Dreams”, and have zero regrets.
Mugler Angel Etoiles des Reves has the single most photo-realistic praline note that I’ve ever smelled in my entire life that wasn’t coming directly from an actual food-source. The fragrance is rich, sweet, and beautiful.
I’ll have to return to report on the performance, but this perfumista happily grants a 10/10 for the fragrance alone. And that bottle! It’s absolutely gorgeous. Just so you know, yes, it’s got a bulb-atomizer, but you simply turn the sprayer mechanism to open and close it, meaning that the fragrance inside IS protected from evaporation (so if that’s the reason you’re on the fence, rest assured that it’s not an issue).
Edited to add: I gave this one almost immediately away, paring down what is, to me, an overwhelmingly-huge wardrobe. However, I still recommend it and feel that lovers of a good, realistic praline note are remiss to snub this one without at least giving it a sniff first.

YES! Finally, an Angel that works for me!
For those that love the DNA of Angel but find it doesn’t meld with their chemistry, try Etoile des Reves! Spicy, earthy chocolate..

I love this perfume. I can’t wear Angel any more, but this is like Angel in its debut year in the 1990s, with lots more sweetness and the patchouli and manliness turned way down.
In fact, it very much reminds me of Laura Mercier’s Creme de Pistache, which is Angel sweetened up and deprived of patchouli; if ones misses it Etoile des Reves could be a good substitute. Excellent sillage and longevity, the whole mailbox smelled of it without any fragrance being spilled in the parcel (got a used bottle of eBay hence no original box or cellophane)

I finally received my bottle that I got for mother’s day. I have been wearing Angel and Alien for years I also have Angel Muse, needless to say I am a mugler addict.
I love this scent, it is beautiful, softer more sexy than the original. Not so in your face. Don’t get me wrong the original is gorgeous once you get past the opening, this one is beautiful from first spray! It is more sweet, vanilla but not to much, it is done perfect. One down side is it sits closer to you after a while but still worth the price!
You will not be sorry with this one! My husband can’t get enough of it!

I have been wearing Angel Edp since July 1999. I have since bought about two large bottles per year, and have all the bath products, as well as some collectors’ bottles and the liqueur. I am really excited about this new Angel version. I bought it about three weeks ago and am so happy I did! Lovely bottle, outstanding variation! The original Angel Edp is slightly off putting at first spray, and have to wait about ten minutes for it to morph into its true beauty and depth. The Etoile Des Reves reaches it in just about a minute or less. Longevity on skin is about the same as the original. I wouldn’t waste this beauty by spraying it on your bedsheets-spray it on just YOU!!! I will go into an extreme depression if this is ever discontinued!

I think I tried it today at the department store, and by “think” I mean that the bottle color was ligther and there was no pump. I also sprayed the original Angel version on my other wrist to compare them and the difference is more than noticeable. Etoile des Reves is softer and lighter, however it keeps this original Angel allure that has made it the myth is is today. I also found it slightly more powdery and I think it suits my skin a little better than the original. I feel that I will buy it, provided it is still available next winter.

I thought I would like it so I blind buy it. Unfortunately it smells like my nailpolish remover that I ve been using for years. Now I hate it so much, I wish I have never used that nailpolish remover:((

Absolutely adorable fragrance. The cuter, softer little sister of Angel housed in the most adorable bottle ever. A real gem for the dressing table.
Compared to the original this is softer and milkier. I do like the original, but I don’t love it. On me Angel smells like ONLY patchouli after ruffly 15 minutes. Nothing against patchouli, in fact I love it, but I want something else as well in a fragrance. This one on the other hand keeps the gourmand notes of vanilla and chocolate all day.
Longevity is superb on me, over 8 hours, but the sillage is softer than the original and less in your face.
All in all a gorgeous creation.

Just bought it a few days ago.
The perfume is simply Angel Heavenly!
I’m a huge fan of Angel (it’s my long time favorite), so any Angel variation pleases me. However, this one is very soft, milky, musky and tender Angel.
When my friend smelled it on me, he said: “it has such a yummy scent it makes you wanna hug it” – which sums it basically. It’s a yummy scent with Angel’s DNA.
It’s also not as powerful as the regular Angel, but it does stay on my body for a decent amout of time.
I used it with my Angel body cream, so the performance was excellent!
I’ll be definitely repurchasing. It’s gorgeous!

This is a smoother version of an Angelesque fragrance. Its not Angel EDP. It hovers like a cloud. Not a lot of story..more experience …which is why I called it angelesque. I find it more interesting than the reformulated edp.
Praline, Bergmot and Patchouli with vanilla in the background. Great fragrance!

  25. :

Quite similar to other Angels in the Mugler family. Especially the top notes are like ‘nothing new’. However, after a while it is a lot softer than its angelic cousins. Well rounded, pleasant, it should please Angel fans.

I finally got my hands on this after desperately searching the shops around my area. Finally found it at the Bay where I live (also available for order off Hudson Bay online, Shoppers Drug Mart online and Nordstrom).
Guys – WOW. This is, by far, one of the most beautiful, decadent fragrances I have added to my collection to date. If you love the original Angel, this is 100% a sure bet. If you like the original Angel but find it too loud and hard to wear, you NEED this flanker in your life!
It does share similarities to the original, yes, but they are absolutely not the same. I own and love the original, but don’t find it all that gourmand, and do find it very heavy on the patchouli. The patchouli is still present in this one, but it’s much tamer and softer. Etoile des Reves is much sweeter and totally, unabashedly gourmand. To my nose, it smells of rich, decadent chocolate, swirled with soft patchouli, praline and even softer musk. I’m not a huge fan of strong musk in fragrances, but in this one it lends a sensual feel to it, and is incredibly well blended with the other notes.
The projection is very satisfying – it’s not a monster like the original Angel, but it does radiate beautifully, about a foot or two around you. I like to be able to smell my fragrances, and I continually get whiffs of this all day long. It’s not a room filler, though, so you need not worry about offending people with this one. Longevity is really great – this lasts all day long and overnight, and before my shower in the morning I can still easily smell this on me.
The bottle is gorgeous, although not as depicted in the picture on Fragrantica. It’s a light, slightly frosted medium, mid-tone blue (not opaque in any way, you can still see the blue juice inside), and the bottle has the stars and moons (or whatever those circles are) on it. It’s got an atomizer pump on it, which is the only option for using it. If you prefer to press down on the trigger when you spray your fragrance, you won’t be able to do that with this one. It does make it a little more difficult to spray on your wrists, but it can be done, and is a minor complaint. Bottle stands up on its own, and lays somewhat on it’s side – a truly gorgeous addition to any collection.
If you love gourmand fragrances, this will surely not disappoint. Since it’s limited edition, I am strongly considering buying a backup – it’s that gorgeous!
    Edit: January 12, 2017
I have to write an update now that I’ve properly worn this stunning fragrance for a solid month. I cannot put into words how utterly gorgeous this is. It has gotten the most attention in my collection for the past month, and that never happens. Also, I wanted to update on the longevity. Above, I said it was great. I have changed my mind, the longevity is FANTASTIC! I wanted to do a little experiment because the longevity is that incredible. The last spray was on Monday morning (it’s now Wednesday afternoon), and I have showered daily since – I can STILL smell this on my forearm where I sprayed it!!!! Literally insane. A must buy for Angel lovers.

I was hoping this would be softer than Angel edp,, but this is very much like it…it is also very much like Angel Muse, lots of wood, so it won’t work for me…! pretty bottle though..if you like Angel edp, you will love this one, it is slightly different, seems the top notes aren’t so rich, but not that much!! Very much the Angel stamp here..

  28. :

Love it!! This limited edition is much tamer than the original and not as sweet as the Eau Sucree’s. Etoile des Reves sits closer to the skin and this makes it a more SENSUAL fragrance. I wouldn’t spray it on my bed linens as I prefer a scent-free night, but it is DELICIOUS sprayed on your scarf, etc. The bottle is quite pretty and sits up on its own and is a lighter blue colour than what is depicted in the advertisement. Oohh, and did I tell you that I love it?!

Anybody knows where can I find it besides online? or somebody have seen this in an airport or department store in USA Mexico or Europe?.

  30. :

The sales assistant told me this was considered heavier than the original Angel. I find it quite the same.. probably weaker longevity but an impressive throw. Not as sticky or gooey as Angel but still has that signature body sweat and dirty patchouli to it.
Creamier, more laid back and quite safe for something of the Angel family. It’s an enjoyable scent but nothing really spectacular.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

This is sweeter and creamier than the original with a definite smell of praline, and vanilla. It smells really good. I bought Sucree 2015 and i find it too sweet so I don’t wear it. This one is wearable.

  32. :

If you love Angel EdP then you are bound to love Etoile des Reves. This doesn’t just have the same DNA as Angel (as you might say about Angel Muse), rather it is 99% identical to it. The 1% difference is that it is ever so slightly softer and sweeter, which I think is down to the praline note. It is just as long-lasting as Angel EdP but not quite as strong or loud. I’m amazed in fact, given that Etoile des Reves supposedly only has five notes, just how similar it is to Angel EdP! How did they manage that??! Anyhow, if you already have Angel then this isn’t something you would ‘need’, although personally I love it and definitely want to add it to my collection.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

This is a softer version of Angel. It stays much closer to the skin than the original. I also think it does not have the tropical/rotting (LOL) fruit note that disagrees with so many. I don’t really get any fruit from this. Any bergamot is very fleeting to my nose. I love this version and purchased immediately after Mugler sent me a sample. It’s warm, soft, and cozy. Definitely Angel but tamed.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

This is Angel, straight up Angel EDP with no edit apart from the bottle. I bought it because I love the bottle but the fragrance is no different from the usual star bottle – at least not to my nose.
If you love Angel and love pretty bottles, it’s worth getting.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

I actually love it! It’s Angel softened all the way around and may be exactly what your looking for if your one of the people who want to love Angel but find it too loud. I found that the white musk is what tempers the entire fragrance. Not citrusy at all. If you love Angel , collect etc.. You definately want this. The fragrance is truly lovely but not an exact twin of Angel. You do get a lot of parfum in this Angel 3.4 oz. I found out from Mugler that it is not intended to be limited edition – It is also not listed as limited. The bottle is really pretty however it’s not like the picture. It’s actually frosted glass, not dark blue opaque. The fragrance is blue, the outside box is attractive and is iconic Angel lilac/blue with their new MUGLER title as opposed to Thierry Mugler. Unique code is included for circle registration.
5 stars! – It was exactly what I was looking for to layer with Angel body products. I wanted it to be Angels sister, very close sister but not her identical twin. Smells really well blended to me and to the other 2 people I asked to smell it from the bottle.
The bulb atomizer does have a (turn on or off by twisting the left or right) it appears to be sealing off to prevent evaporation. You can only spray via bulb not by pushing nozzle. You can also open and use as a splash.
Like I said – love it! I believe others will too but it will depend on how wildly different you expect this to be. It smells beautiful & was not dissapointed! In-fact, I was delighted!

I ordered it from Mugler website the first day it was available. i am huge mugler fan although I do love Alien more than Angel. Angel I already have Innocent, EDP, Sucree 2014 and Muse (for me the best one so far).
Anyway based on description this one sounded like it is going to be absolutely perfect. I was underwhelmed because it smells way to similar to. Mostly it is edp version softened with a lot of bergamot. Not worth giving money for it. And the bottle in real seams a bit cheap.

    Hi everyone
It is available on mugler.com here in the USA. When I type in mugler in my URL bar it automatically takes me there, I guess, because I live in the US. It says it’s an official website and Thierry Mugler / clarins group list it as such.
It’s on the home page slide show and “NEW” section.
I have called them several times but no one knows anything about it yet except what’s listed above.. I guess October is when they may launch in stores and they said October is when they have a big training seminar
