Description

In 2017 the house of Mugler re-releases a limited edition, Angel Eau Sucrée, which is the summer version of the original Angel from 1992, first presented in 2014. Described as sensual and flirty, this fruity – gourmand Eau de Toilette combines sparkling fresh notes with delicious sweets. The scent itself returns unchanged, yet in a new packaging.

The composition of Angel Eau Sucrée is signed Dorothee Piot. The sparkling top notes of “Acidulous Delight” include red berries sorbet, along with some citrus fruits. Caramelized meringue cream is at the “Sugary Delight” heart of the perfume, based on the “Voluptuous Delight” of patchouli and vanilla.

This year’s bottle is coated in a slightly shimmering cobalt blue glaze. The box is decorated with blue and silver stripes, inspired by the codes of traditional confections. It is available from February 2017 as a 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

My God, how is this an EDT?? This is probably the strongest fragrance I own. It is seriously nuclear. Maybe it’s because of how sweet a fragrance it is but it is definitely stronger than Angel EDP and that’s saying a lot, as we all know!
I am revisiting Angel Sucree. I reviewed it a few months back and adored it and then for some reason I sold it.. now I have it happily back in my hands and will never let it go!
Sucree opens with that burst of signature Angel patchouli. Sharp, cold, piercing, bordering on sweaty.. but the sweat eventually settles into sweet and turns into a soft cloud of cotton candy and tart red berries with creamy vanilla. This is the tantalizing scent of a dessert I would love to sink my teeth into.. it is truly mouthwatering!
I owned a 2015 bottle previously, I believe.. yes it is the same fragrance, as others have mentioned. Some may smell a little different because of how the fragrance was stored and age changes scent as well.. for me, my 2015 bottle smelled just like my 2017 bottle does. Either way the bottles are gorgeous and the electric blue is very suggestive of the special elixir within!

Angel Eau Sucree Is a creme of delicate softness rounded out by a fresh berry sorbet, with soothing smooth vanilla, and a divine caramel for just a pinch of warmth. Intermingled with crisp citrus, and a dash of patchouli.
A wonderfully rounded all year gourmand. A sweet concoction that easily grabs one attention. Sensually stimulating, yet fun, and invigorating.
By far this is the one Angel that IMO tops them all. Not over sweet, just blended right to perfection.

It’s very long lasting on me, up to 24 hrs with moderate sillage the first couple of hours then it’s soft, sits close to the skin.
The berries remind me of redcurrants so this note adds a touch of sourness to the composition. It’s sweet and sour at the same time, the patch adds a slight spiciness. The lemon sorbet/meringue note lingers with the vanilla all the way through and this honestly the best part of this fragrance. It’s summer fun in a bottle.

I was expecting a bomb like the original Angel This is Angel whisper with creamy sweet lemon and berries…lovely. It stays close to the skin and would be office safe or something you could wear for a night out at the theatre. Will have to wear it a few times to really get to know it.

This is not a review, I just want to point out that even Mugler says the fragrance has not changed. It’s the same. Only the bottle changes. It’s for those who collect them. Mugler has been doing this for years with Angel. It’s the same fragrance. The only difference is that older ones have aged more and that will make them smell slightly different. Depending on how well they are stored. A 4 year old bottle of perfume will rarely smell exactly the same as a freshly macerated one. But it’s still the same fragrance, just aged. They aren’t coming out with different versions, they say so themselves. If it smells different it’s either age or imagination. Sometimes different packaging can trick our minds. Part of the interesting thing about scent.

I just received my bottle, and after wearing it for a few days, I must say this is my favorite version so far, I think the lemon gives it a zesty sweetness, whereas the other version are more straightforward berries on a bed or sweet cream, with a dry patchouli..I guess I needed to give it time to open up !!I did also like the 2015 version…as much as the basic notes are the same, there are a few variations, each version has its own character…like making the same dish with the same ingredients, yet it tastes a bit different every time.. and I believe it simply because they do smell different to my nose.! The versions are tweaked regularly but as the perfume industry is self regulated , nobody needs to know !
Anyhow, loving 2017…it lingers beautifully on the skin, my husband likes it, and longevity is pretty good !! Curious to try the 2018 now

As I can see most here know all sucrees are the same fragrance year after year but they change up the bottles which makes some still think it’s different .They are all the same !
In fact the reason they keep bringing back the same scent every summer is because it was such a huge success in 2015 , best seller all around the world ( for mugler ) . Sucree has been selling so well each year they decided to make it part of their permanent collection.Which is quite exciting !
“ Ouch” has a great review on you tube if anyone is interested , I love watching his reviews , he is a wealth of information in the fragrance community and I love his wit !
I find sucree quite nice and airy and light ,starts with sour sweet fresh berries and ends in soft caramel creamed vanilla. Sucree is still recognizable as part of the angel DNA with its “no flower theme”. I have to admit some days it can be too sweet for my taste but for the most part I love the scent and I am happy they made it permanent.
My new favouurte is definitely fruity fair , its fresher and cleaner , I am obsessed with it.

I’ve been wearing this for two weeks now and it’s time to review it.
For me, this is a gorgeous red berry sorbet with sparkling, almost fizzy citruses – and that’s about it. No caramely meringue, no vanilla and really strangely, no patchouli.
My friends and I can’t place what berries and citruses are here, they’re so well blended and balanced!
It’s acidic, but never sour – and it retains a natural sweetness that doesn’t feel sugary at all.
My skin tends to ravenously consume any perfume I wear and unfortunately this sits at a very low 2 hours before it’s basically gone.
Overall I give it 8/10 (it smells REALLY good)

    Definitely try before you buy.
With my skin chemistry, it smells like pure freshly cut cedar wood. Not a bad smell, but there isn’t anything fruity or creamy there. Just a pleasant lumberyard or dry forest.
Completely different from Fruity Fair, which is pear/apple fruity.
The bottle is gorgeous though– shame it is not refillable.

I used to love Angel a decade ago but got sick of it.
I tried Angel Muse EDP and EDT in January but EDP is still too much alike Angel for me and EDT less strong but still too much Angel vibe for my taste.
I struggled finding a tester of eau sucrée as summer 2018 edition is not eau sucrée, physical shop in my area are not selling it anymore.
But I did manage to find one tester at last and I am hooked.
Sweet but not sickening, creamy. The longevity is there, the sillage is moderate which I am happy with for the use I need Eau sucrée for, that is : summer and bedtime fragrance.
And cherry on the cake I got it discounted. If anyone is interested, it is still in stock -30% on nocibe.fr

    WOW!
What an amazing fragrance Eau sucrée is. I have tried several, several times the original Angel and my nose only got amoniac out of it. But this one right here, along with Alien, are what sold me to Mugler. It took a while, but I finally got there. I wish they made an EDP of it, so it’d last longer on my skin, but overall it’s a love for me.
Sweet torsade of caramel and vanilla ice cream with a side of berries and freshly pressed juice.
    A mouth-watering 9 out of 10!

I like it,it’s very sweet and warm vanilla and caramel fragrance but when I on my skin is does not last a long and also the Sillage is very moderated….it’s a shame! I keep it in my cupboard but I don’wear it, too light too weak…

This is a real delight, I have loads of perfumes, but when I wear this one it just makes me really happy! Berries, sorbet, caramel and sugary meringue, with that typical angel base. I used to wear Angel, but it reminds me of past days now and although I still like it, I don’t want to wear it anymore.
Besides all that, this is just such a treat! The sillage is good and the longevity a good 8 hours on me.
I’m looking forward to the ‘fruity fair’ that has been released this year. If that is a different scent and a replacement to Sucree, then those who haven’t tried this – I urge them to give it a go!

I pray this becomes permanent I love it soooo much way more than the orginal angel its soft and delicious, it took me awhile to warm up to it, its very unique compared to other perfumes I wear, but after comparing it to other sweet scents I own I came to realise how more alluring and addicting this one actually is, its perfectly sensual once it settles into the skin, when you first spray it, the red berry sorbet is very intense, then it dries down to a beautiful vanilla caramel, makes you smell good enough to eat 😉

The versions aren’t similar…the main notes are the same but there are different notes here and there,I have owned several versions, and they do smell a bit different to my nose..
My friend works at sephora in Paris and confirmed there are differences every year…perfumers tweak the formulas, and as the perfume industry is self regulated, nobody gets to know…
Even if the vibe seems to be always the same !
    I can’t wait to try the 2017! 2015 was one I loved !!

If all the Sucree versions are indeed the same then why oh why do the notes differ here on Fragrantica from year to year?????? The reason for my confusion is I placed a call to Mugler customer service to inquire about the yearly Sucree releases and a very pleasant rep named “Amalia “ told me the scent is the same from year to year and it is only the bottle that changes?????

Angel Eau Sucree 2017 is apparently an annual limited edition. As user ’emprss’ has confirmed for us, it appears that this 2017 release does not differ in scent from the 2014, 2015 or 2016 Eau Sucree flankers.
This is my first time trying the Angel Eau Sucree flanker. I wore the original Angel back in my university days, even demolished a few large bottles but never re-purchased due to bad memories now attached to its scent. There are a few Angel flankers that I have tried and liked over the years, but nothing has ever come close to the distinctive and very unique original.
Angel Eau Sucree is significantly softer and less abrasive than the original. It’s not as dark nor as complex. This flanker is almost fluffy like a cloud of creamy vanilla, caramel and patchouli. Angel Eau Sucree is also sweet, very much a gourmand with a softer focus.
I was pleasantly surprised by the citrusy opening. The citrus notes almost makes this flanker suitable for warmer weather, and you could actually get away with wearing this scent on a mild Summer evening. It doesn’t quite have the same bold projection like Angel and its many other flankers, however it does have great lasting power.
The name ‘Eau Sucree’ made me think that this scent would be more sugary, however I would describe the actual scent as being lighter and less bold.

I’ve sent email to the Mugler costumer service and they told me that it remains the same scent through the years but in different bottle every year.

I blind-bought TWO bottles of this since it’s limited edition, and they just arrived today (I went off of Fragantica reviews and the main accords listed). At first, I was a little shocked. It is so soft…and nothing about anything named Angel by Thierry Mugler has been soft in my experience! I recently fell in love with Angel Muse, so I kind of wanted this one to knock me off my feet in a similar way. But I do have to say, I’ve been wearing this for less than two hours now, and I DO love it. Yes, it is soft. You cannot overspray this. You can literally douse yourself in this and offend probably no one. What I really want now is an oil, a lotion, and a soft spray for my hair with this scent (this is definitely a scent you could sleep in and have nice fluffy dreams). Fortunately, The Fragrance Shop could make me all of the above…I would just need to submit a decant to them to put it in their catalog. This is citrus and vanilla, but it’s not lemony. it’s much more of a light lemon sorbet with a hint of sweetness. I wish the meringue and caramel were even stronger. It would be amazing if this were more lemon meringue pie, but it’s just shy of that. I really don’t smell any patchouli, it’s actually very neutral here. Overall, I’m very glad that I bought the two bottles. Verdict: Angel Muse is my lover, but Angel Sucree is my life mate.

This is lovely. The original Angel and I have never got along very well, I have days when I think it’s nice then other days I can’t tolerate it at all so I’ve never actually bought a bottle, but I read the reviews, and anything with Sucree in it’s name
gets my attention, I blind bought this and wasn’t disappointed. It reminds me a lot of one of the Givenchy Obliques I had, I think maybe the Rewind, I can’t compare as I don’t have it anymore, anyway it starts off lovely and fruity fizzy and mouthwatering tart and candy sweet, then the Patchouli comes through, but it’s subtle, not in your face like original Angel. I find the dry down very cosy. It’s almost like a dual personality perfume, the beginning is fun, fizzy, fruity playful sunny day fragrance then it turns comforting and snuggly and would suit an Autumn day.
Wonderful little gem, glad I finally got to try an Angel that makes me feel good, after years of avoiding anything to do with Angel 🙂

I’m so in love with this little sweet cotton candy sensual smell. I turned so many heads when I wear this. The notes are sweet but not overwhelming almost like a piece of marshmallow then stays on your skin nice and light. Not strong at all this is my staple. Wish this can be a refill.

Incredible scent! Fresh and sweet, yummy gourmand! Delightful citrus & berries notes mixed with caramel and mousse. Just wonderful.
Update: It smells like a sophisticated dessert. Sweet, but not too sweet, due to citrus notes. Light like a sorbet.

On Mother’s Day, I got two Mugler gift sets… this 2017 Eau Sucree and Angel Muse from my indecisive husband who simply loved both and couldn’t choose (Oh, how the sales associates LOVE to see him coming lol He’s a easy sale.) I like the Angel Muse, But honestly this was the “winner” for me and I would have been perfectly happy to just get this one.
This is a “fresher” version of Angel. Almost polar opposite to the original angel in “vibe” & “feel” yet that original DNA is still vaguely evident. How the hell does Mugler do that?! Very difficult to put into words, but I’ll try. This 2017 Eau Sucree has a fresh, cool feeling where the original Angel was warmer with a thick, dirty patchouli. I could see someone who doesn’t like the original Angel at all liking this Eau Sucree. I love the sorbet and tart red berries from the very first spritz. Sorbet sticks around throughout. I really recommend you try this one. I know there’s more than just this one Eau Sucree and I can’t speak personally for any but this 2017. But this one is truly a love.
I find it undoubtedly unisex too btw, but then again I find MOST fragrances unisex so perhaps I’m not the best judge. I never recommend any Muglers as a blind buy but I can safely say this is worth a test, for sure!

It’s like minty red berries, really fresh but sweet.Well balanced, super feminine and sexy. There is nothing I dislike in this one, which never happened before.Pure love!

Opens with a sugar sweet citrus, and quickly morphs into a red-berry sorbet with a divinely scrumptious caramel that is delicious beyond belief. With a vanilla base, strengthened by a subtle hint of bold patchouli, the drydown settles into a sugary caramel that will delight sweet-toothed members of the fragrance community. The scent lasts for 4-6 hours, on my skin, before finally fading into a vanilla/caramel skin scent, which retains hints of citrus to the very end. Angel Eau Sucree (2017) is the scent of sweetshop decadence. Sugar, berries, citrus, caramel, sweet, sweet, sweet, how sweet can you be? This one is not just for the girls. I’m a bloke, and there’s no way that I’m going to pass up on something as gorgeous as this little beauty. Come on guys, you have to check this one out, if you like them sweet, you’re going to fall in love forever.

I have had all the versions so far, but this one I might not buy…it is like strong, the berries are very tart, almost too much..it isn’t as sweet or smooth like the other versions…there is a sharpness in this new version..truth is i didn’t spend much time with it, I sprayed it, and left..but those are my first impressions…less sweet, more tart..more citrus.
and each version is different, notes aren’t balanced in the same way…I was told that by a friend who works at sephora in Paris..some versions have more meringue, others more berries…and iI can smell the subtle differences .this version isn’t the best in my opinion..but I will revisit it at some point..

I was waiting for Fragrantica to finally have 2017 in its database 🙂
I have Eau Sucree 2014 & 2015. I had the opportunity to try this in store just this morning, and it smells almost identical to both 2014 & 2015. 2015 has a more prominent sorbet note, to my nose, while this one is more merengue-ish. Patchouli is low down on the scale, at least to my sniffer. HOWEVER – just as the other two, it’s stunningly gorgeous. Projection is a few feet within the first hour of spraying, and somewhat of a skin scent after the first few hours pass. Longevity is so far so good – I sprayed it on at 8:15 this morning, and it’s still going strong.
Rich berry sorbet, whipped, airy merengue, and bubbling, warm caramel envelop you with an unabashedly gourmand fragrance that is indeed sweet, yet remains fresh throughout its wear, thanks to the sorbet that seems to really hang around.
Not sure if I will buy 2017 as it’s quite similar and I don’t overly care if I have them all, but if I’m in the mood to spend a little money, this will be on my radar.
A real beauty. If you love the previous Eau Sucree’s, you will love this.
