This is a trickster of a scent: it’s basically just good old Angel, with a thin layer of fresh summery fruit notes on top to seduce you into wearing it in the warm months. The opening is bright and juicy indeed, but very soon Angel’s characteristic strong, mellow patchouli/vanilla/borderline chocolatey base starts creeping more and more into the spotlight. The transition between these two is actually very nice as well, but at the end of the day I’m stuck wearing a bonafide gourmand, and however much I like it, it’s just way too hot for that. Of course it’s not nearly as heavy as the original Angel is, and the fact that we’re living through the hottest summer since 2003 probably isn’t helping either, but still! This one isn’t bad, but if I feel like wearing Angel, which will probably happen around December, I think I’ll stick to Angel.

Don t understand why my nose detects something completely différent from thé pyramid scent cause for thé first stage it s for me very exotic fruits liké pineapple with passion fruits mixed with spices and the second stage it is sweet like patchouli caramel and thé final stage it is very very spicy like medical scent but softer than Angel nearly male scent coriander +santal very very Woody .it s a gem very addictive like angel but more attractive .love it

I finally got this one (blind buy for $22 free shipping, what the heck!) and I actually like it a lot compared to the original Mugler Angel. To my nose, this one has an interesting dominant “menthol”/”minty”/”green” smell from the opening which I find very refreshing (could be the patchouli?). Light rose, beautifully warm and pleasant vanilla in the dry down.
AskoldVolkov – :
This one and its previous version 2012 have very different notes, and their star bottles are pretty much very similar with each other. I like the notes in this version 2013 than the 2012 but have no idea how to identify which star bottle is which in order to buy online. Would really appreciate somebody’s advice and experience, if you please 🙂
Update: I think I got it figured out, and hope that it will help somebody with the same question like mine 🙂
If both versions do not have their boxes: the 2012 version comes in a NOTICEABLE “sparkling silver glitter-like” star shape bottle while the 2013 comes in just a SMOOTH and plain star shape bottle. Both have “Angel Aqua Chic Eau de Toilette Legere” on the back.
If both versions have boxes: the box of the version 2013 will specifically indicate “the rose water” ingredient on the front, while the version 2012 does not reveal any ingredient.

Angel Aqua Chic 2013 is a very beautiful and feminine perfume. It is the ultimate warm weather perfume for gourmand lovers. I actually like this a lot more than Angel Eau Sucree as it smells more unique and interesting, despite both being fruity florals (more emphasis on the fruits on this one, though). Still, this is unmistakably Mugler, and doesn’t smell like a generic fruity Escada.
Angel Aqua Chic opens with bright, tangy raspberries and green apple sorbet with that unmistakable patchouli note with mildly camphorous edges. Although the patchouli here is not dirty or hippy-esque, it is still very pronounced; this would not make a good blind buy if you’re on the fence about that particular fragrance note. As the perfume dries down, I actually pick up on a fuzzy cotton candy accord which is another nod to the original Angel, making this a girlier, fluffier and more candy-like scent. There is rose in this perfume but it is not very noticeable, as it is only there to remind you that this is a perfume and not a dessert. It only adds floral nuances without making it obvious that it’s rose and not any other floral. Vanilla also takes a backseat to this composition compared to other flankers of Angel, adding only smoothness and creaminess versus being the proprietary source of sweetness.

Lovely perfume, I remember first trying Angel years ago when i was a teenager in a department store – I was still wearing Charlie Red back then and always remember wishing I could afford this perfume! Years later I got my first bottle and it still smells divine. I really like this version , can definietly smell the patchouli and vanilla but it is more of a light fresh blossomy type of smell.
semen92 – :
I gave this to my friend as she is an angel lover. I have many different Angels so I wanted to gift her one that was least dear to me.
A week later we met for lunch and she wore it. She smelled so incredible I was sort of upset I gave it to her , I hope my sucree smells as good as this , because this is Devine
Fresh sweet patchouli , just really amazing ! Hope they bring it back again.

I got this gem today, and really is very nice, fresh, crisp, spicy but not heavy. Perfect perfume when is hot and humid. The more the body heats the more the perfume evolves. Reminds me a lot of the lagoon sunessence Angel which I also have. Thank goodness is far similar to the original Angel which is misty and suffocating. The bottle is very nice, sillage medium and longevity excellent for an etd. Once again stuck with Mugler’s perfume. I can’t help it. I am addicted.
flt360Unlogrere – :
It’s not that I really dislike it… it’s just too weak and too subtle for my taste and also I expect the perfume to last longer for such price.
So if the classic Angel is too strong for you and gives you headache maybe you can try this one 🙂
VjeranViso – :
Frankly I hated the original angel, to my then untrained nose it was like ‘bin juice’, the nasty weird smelling, almost sweet juice that leaks out of black bags of rubbish… so I avoided it for a while and bought Womanity and it’s flankers instead but noticing the incredible longevity and sillage I started avidly looking for more Thierry Mugler…
I found this one in Tkmaxx (along with some other gems!) for a decent price, figured after looking at the notes I’d give it a go! So far so good!
Yes, it’s lighter and fresher, with crisp apple notes but it still has the telltale patchouli and vanilla feel of the original. This time though, I can identify and categorise rather than be beasted and assailed by too many foreign things at once.
I find I rather enjoy the patchouli and vanilla this time and feel that I may even be ready for the real angel soon (whilst the weather is still frosty!) But also that come summer when the heat really hits, amongst all the hot machinery and ineffectual fans at work this will be perfect – not enough to kill anyone off but still noticeable and long lasting!
A nice introduction to Angel for those previously put off!
Update:
I got the original Angel the other day and really see the similarities, so I’m happy, I’ve got summer and winter sorted!
On the other hand though, I went though the new perfume testing with my husband and this had him visibly recoiling in repulsion as first whiff! Sadly he was asleep before the dry down but I suspect I won’t be wearing this for bedtime any time soon… Shame!
admirlsluri – :
My Angel addiction is truly taking over. After getting my hands on this reincarnation of her, all I can say is wow. I personally get a slight peppery-ness with a slight floral. So far Angel has not let me down when it comes to the flankers.
Recieved a few compliments from co-working regarding this one today.
valtazara – :
I got this perfume as I blind buy today because I like original Angel but I would smell less loud than it and all I say that i’m little sorry that I don’t bought this fragrance in early summer, because it smell really heavenly really almost like an angel and its perfect for warm weather! But however am very happy that I got it! Big love! Fruity Angel!
vobhoedjmn – :
I got this for an incredible price at Marshall’s of all places. Snatched it before anyone could see what I had! Complete blind buy, and I almost regretted it upon first spray, HUGE blast of patchouli. After about 10 minutes or so it wears off, and the real beauty of this comes through. Def worth a try!
1977kristina – :
I bought this perfume by accident. I wanted to buy the original Angel, it was later I saw it was Aqua chic.
I normally don’t like eau de toilette, because of the longevity. I wanted to buy the original Angel because I read that its logevity was amazing.
But this one isn’t bad! For an eau de toilete it had a good lasting power! It lasted me for about 5 hours and then it starts to fade during the day.
It smells almost the same as de EDP.
But I will buy the original Angel EDP later.
I didn’t notice vanilla at all in this perfume. I only smell fruitiness!
It’s also very crispy but that’s all I could smell.
migusha – :
I was wearing this recently and it was mistaken for Chance by someone due to the prominent patchouli dry down. (different to me though! but yes, expensive smelling) Anyway, I absolutely love this. The trademark Mugler-esque vanilla patchouli blend is certainly present in a big way. The lovely rose & apple notes give a freshness and crispness when first applied. This is not a heavy fragrance but it does last and therefore is money well spent. I have to say this is more my taste than original Angel due to the fresh components. Very, very happy with this lovely scent and it will be a solid staple now in my rotation of favorites. <3
v.a.l.i.k – :
I love it!! For me, it was a blind buy, and it became my favourite. It’s perfect for spring, especially for a rainy spring. It’s sweet, but not overwhelming, very pleasant and weareable.
Piennasnids – :
I have to say I was really disappointed in this one. Based on the notes I thought it would be beautiful. It’s got everything I like but all I got was patchouli. I didnt get any rose water, green apple or raspberry bloom, just patchouli. And the patchouli didn’t even smell right. Not for me!!
ivs1231 – :
I have a sample size of this, and I’m glad I do. It’s similar to regular Angel. Too similar
for me to buy a full size. If you already have Angel,
I don’t think this is different enough to warrant a full size unlike say the liquor version which is more unique. It’s nice,
Perhaps a tiny touch lighter for those who find regular angel too strong, this would be one to try.
vlas2010 – :
This perfume is Beautiful! Not too overpowering but very Fruity almost Green notes at first and as it settles into your skin it reminds me of the original Angel. I brought this as I feel Angel is too strong for my skin and I love this and have received compliments. It is pretty popular and if you want something lighter than try Angel Aqua Chic.
drej8 – :
Opening is very sharp and strong patchouli. As time passes it becomes more fruity and patchouli is staying in the background. Just like all Angels the smell is stunning and original because of apple note but unfortunately lasting power is very short. After 1 hour it stays very close to the skin, i can barely smell it.
Jepudepe – :
happy to meet this beauty and didn’t know its angel flanker I fell in love cant believe its related to angel .the original angel is too fruity and heavy to my taste while 2013 aqua chic is ( A combo all what I like in one bottle). it Is a treat and comfort scent .sophisticated and super femenine . opening is rich and juicy then creamy woody powdery base.GREAT sillage and longevity ( for aqua??? and summery??)love it well done TM
IgnatevDenis – :
Oh the original Angel .. how much I love it .. but its too heavy and I hate the dark chocolate notes ..
But this one is fresher, sharper, more wearable for sure and creamy ! .
I can smell the sweet & tender sharpness of the raspberry blossoms mixed with the sour green apple ..
The result is a stunning beauty from Mr. Mugler this year .. I am in love ..
I imagine wearing this at a party with heels & red lip stick !
Lasting power & sillage are excellent ..
Xeroxyqdaq – :
Angel Aqua Chic 2013 hits the skin with a strong, herbal and raw patchouli along with sparkling and crisp green apple. However, it soon dries down into a creamy rose and vanilla decorated with sour apple and berries, and the patchouli mellows and hides behind the creamy curtain. I find it closer to Eau de Star than Angel, as patchouli and vanilla in this version doesn’t create a chocolate-y aroma like in Angel. The longevity is around 6 or 7 hours and the sillage is close. Overall it’s refreshing and a good option as a non-aquatic spring and summer fragrance. I don’t think it’ll be offensive unless overapplied. However, I still suggest testing before buying as I find the patchouli for the first few minutes can still be quite strong for some tastes.
JVN2012 – :
This is a light and fruity fragrance. On first application I notice the sweet, but clean aromas, particular raspberry and apple to a lesser extent. When the fragrance settles, I adore the subtle rose aroma, which is probably my favourite element of this and which I find ‘uplifting.’ It is the lingering notes of this fragrance, after an hour or so which I find a little disappointing and perhaps too sweet for my own taste, which always make me feel another squirt is in order.
This fragrance requires topping up at regular intervals and I’d love a travel size for top ups.
A fragrance for every day wear and just right for Spring/Summer, uncomplicated, but cleverly composed to suit the young and old.
Vectra – :
i have sniff aqua chic from t.m, and the girl who is selling it say for me theres for aqua chic for men i ask her are u sure she said yes and give me to smell it on my hand to be honest i didn’t read what was written on the bottle is it pour home or pour femme ,
anyway what i have smell was very nice and i could not say its for women i don’t know or its for women and could be easy used as unisex.
Djocer – :
I wear this beauty for a while. I really enjoy it. It is fresh scent similar to Angel eau de toilette water and Angel la Rose. It opens with raspberry note which is very detectable. In the base I feel more patchouli than vanilla and little bit chocolate. The silage and longevity are moderate.
zxcrukkSAZm – :
This is wearing much lighter and fresher on my skin than the original Angel in this line. It has a light woodsy smell, but is not wearing as heavy as their original.
This is ok on me, but isn’t striking a major chord with me. I’m not compelled to buy it. It started off better, but after a couple of hours on the skin, it is fading.
Four hours into this, it is gone. Flat lined. Zip.
Nicvwa – :
Unlike a lot of other flankers I find it easy to discern the original within most of Angels variations. This one smells to me like Angel very lite but with pineapple in it. Yes pineapple, not apple. Also to me smells a bit like raspberry soda? Is that what raspberry blossom smells like? If england ever has a summer again (2008 was the last one I think) then I would wear this during it.
nkt876InsuffBooni – :
I own the original Angel and find it really quite hard to wear, this, however is so easy that I’ve worn it to bed. It’s comforting, light, sweet and fresh and still totally ‘Angel’, with half the calories. I only have a sample of this bur it’s full bottle worthy.
mcj774Diobtetty – :
I get a massive hit of patchouli, then it turns like Parma Violets sweets on me after 2-4 hours.
Not what I’d call terribly summery myself… but at least it wasn’t whichever flanker was just water and kumquat.
It actualyl smelt of something and was recognisable as Angel.
A tiny bit.

WOW!!!
If i didn´t know it was a flanker to my signature fragrance i would never guess, actually, that this fragrance with amazing lasting power is an “Angel”.
Honestly, it has no resemblance to the original and a fairest resemblance to the Angel EDT. It is nothing like the previous summer flankers of Angel. Last year was ok, it was still Angel, You could guess by unmistakable scent mix of patchouli and choclate, it was just lighter. This year i DON´T smell ANY patchouli at all in it. I don´t uderstand how people rated patchouli the strongest note in here, when it is all about raspberry and rose. Ok, the patchouli is present in a most lightest trace in a drydown, but all you smell all the way is raspberry (the kind of body mist scent raspberry, quite artificial) and beautiful rose.
Ok, apple??? hmmm…. Maybe there IS some, but i can´t quite smell any.
This is as far from original Angel as it can be, i would say completly different scent, honestly. I gave to smell it to several people and while they liked it, none have guessed that this was an Angel. And they all know Angel, because i use it often and a lot of it.
AMAZNG lasting power for over 24hrs on my wrists (after many handwashes i can still smell traces of it, amazing!). Sillage is also very nice, but i repeat that this is absolutly different fragrance to my nose. And no, i have compared it to the Angel EDT and they ARE different.
Lovely surprise from Mugler company, i will certainly get it for my collection!
HAPPY SCENT!!

Do you know any teenage girls going on their first trip abroad with her friends? Get her this. It’s a juicy, youthful pleasant perfume that smells like cocktails on the beach in a Mediterranean sun. It smells really good, but at 22 I feel as if I’ve outgrown it already.
Chyga – :
This Aqua Angel is refreshing, elegant and alluring.
Silage depends on weather and if you’re wearing moisturizer.
Otherwise, this baby is going to turn some heads your way, just apply a small amount, because a little goes a loooong way.
tucceetly – :
This is the best angel …i have been really really been satisfied with….its really nice for a summer flanker…its fruity, sexy ,sweet, clean angel…thumbs up!
SHooLCsisa – :
This is SO juicy and yummy! I wear the original Angel EDP quite often, but I’m constantly receiving negative comments about how strong it is..
Hopefully this will be a nice alternative for the warmer days, because patchouli can easily become a monster.
I’m loving the combination of apple and patchouli. It’s very fresh, tangy, sharp, juicy, and it has just enough variety to make it different from Angel, but still similar in the same oriental-patchouli vibe.
This is a PERFECT Spring scent, because it’s bold and strong enough to make a statement, but still gentle and fruity enough to work well with the temperature and humidity. This one won’t make you smell like a sweaty hippie like the original Angel EDP can do to you in the warmer climates.
I typically combine my Angel EDP with Paris Hilton for Men to create my own sort of tropical, fruity Angel…but this is definitely much better and much more convenient! 🙂
siba – :
Beautiful, definetly smells similar to the other angels. It’s silage is moderate, but the longevity is a little short. Overall not bad

This is a beautiful version of Angel – fantastic raspberry note. A must-try for Angel fans!
