Description

Givenchy relaunches Ange Ou Demon Le Secret fragrance, originally introduced in August 2009 as a fresh floral flanker of the oriental original Ange Ou Demon from 2006.

The composition remains true to the theme of white flowers and jasmine tea. The top notes are tea leaves, lemon and cranberry. Crystal Sambac jasmine in the heart is mixed with accords of white peony and water lily. The base notes include patchouli, white musk and blonde woods.

The new campaign was shot by photographer Mikael Jansson. Actress Uma Thurman is replaced by model Kati Nescher as the face of the campaign. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Ange Ou Demon Le Secret (2014) was launched in 2014.

I just bought a 50ml bottle of Ange Ou Demon Le Secret (2014) as an everyday fragrance for my purse, I love it. It’s really fresh, fruity and kinda has a tangy sweetness to it. It almost smells like a passion fruit mojito. It has the DNA of the original Ange Ou Demon but it definitely has a personality of its own.

    بوش بد نیست. عطر خوشبوییه
پر از شادابی و روشنی و تازگی
اما مشکل مواد بی کیفیت و سردرد آوریه که تو ساختش استفاده شده

I think this version 2014 is the best of Ange ou Démon Le Secret EDP. Beautiful citrusy fragrance with light and sweet powdery floral notes. I also own Ange ou Démon Le Secret 10th Anniversary (with a “lace” design on the bottle). And that one is slightly more floral/powdery than this 2014. I love them both.

I was browsing the perfumes in Debenhams and picked this up, without knowing any of the notes, and tried it. What happened next was incredible. Memories flooded back of a holiday in France in 1996 when I was 12 years old. My mum had sent me to stay with a French family to help my French and I spent two happy weeks with them on their annual summer holiday; first a week in Argeles, then a week in Biarritz. I remembered the only perfume I took with me on the trip was a mini of Nina Ricci Deci Della, given to me by my grandmother. I searched ebay and spent far too much on a bottle in order to discover if this was the source of the memories. It wasn’t. I have now bought a 5ml sample of Le Secret and every time I spray it more memories of that trip return. Scent is perhaps the best way to trigger memories, but the strange thing here is there is no way I can remember this perfume from 1996 as it wasn’t created until nearly 20 years later! Something from that holiday must have smelt almost identical to Le Secret for it trigger such powerful memory recall. As I have smelt it I have remembered a few things- there was an after-sun lotion I used a lot and also an expensive facial serum in an orange glass bottle that belonged to the mother that the daughter and I sneakily tried out when we were playing with her mum’s make up. If anyone has any idea what this scent could be please let me know!! Anyway, on to the perfume itself. This is not my usual scent (I wear almost entirely woody or vanilla orientals or musks) and I’m sure my opinion is biased due to the nostalgia it has conjured, but I’m really enjoying it and considering buying a full bottle for my summer holiday this year (where, coincidentally, I will be returning to Argeles!). It is sweet but fresh, and has a lot of depth and mystery which I find is often missing from this category of fragrance. I’m not really getting the tea note, although perhaps that is what is toning down the sweetness of the cranberry and rounding the edges of the citrus, which is very prominent, particularly the grapefruit. There is a faint entry of jasmine after about 30 mins but many of the notes listed above, such as vanilla and rose, I really can’t detect at all. Some are saying longevity and sillage are poor- I actually find them to be pretty good, as with all Givenchy fragrances. Overall this is a happy, fresh and citrusy, but soft and sweet, summer fragrance.

This amazing perfume reminds me of Gucci II which I also own, I loooveeee it! Givenchy is so so sexy I love to wear it but it it’s a little pricey so I try not to spray so much of it . The down side of this is that it doesn’t last as long, at least not on me 🙁

I normally get allergic (sneezing) to strong tea note in a fragrance, but not with this one. This is the Secret that I can wear and adore. Very clean, bright and fresh sweet tea citrusy opening to my nose. I think cranberry here helps shaping and toning down the sharpness of tea leaf a lot. I also love the water lily lemony, soft woody dry down without a big interference of patchouli. Beautiful sillage, great performance and longevity.

Starts very strongly with green leaf, which i didnt like first than it gets sweeter and get hint of jasmin with peachy tone.
Update: i wore it few times in a row, its lovely parfume for everyday wear, makes my mouth watery so delicious it smells. Lasting power for about 6 hours. Definitely spring summer scent.

I just received this in a swap and I can’t wait to wear it on a miserably hot summer day when I’m outside playing with the kids and drinking iced tea lemonade! That’s exactly the vibe this gives me and I just know it will be refreshing and very enjoyable for that time of year 🙂

I love it so much, one of my favorites and I actually credit Le Secret for opening the doors to me becoming a fan of perfumes.
From the intriguing name to the stunning bottle, I was immediately drawn to it and even before taking my first whiff I knew I would love it, that this was the one for me. And I was right. I don’t even know how to describe it except to say it is refreshing and feminine and always puts me in a good mood.
So the fact it doesn’t last more than a couple hours just simply breaks my dang heart. Still this will always be a special one for me, and I will certainly buy it again once it runs out.

    * These are my personal experiences/thoughts with this fragrance. Yours/others may differ. *
    Initial – patchouli
    Drydown – patchouli + jasmine + wood + lemon
    Duration – 13-14 hours
    Projection – moderate
Experiences – This is a patchouli-bomb on me, but of a sweet, fresh variety – not the “dirty hippy” patchouli most people think of. It’s really hard for me to detect anything else over it.
Quick Thoughts – green, green, green

I had the original and liked it quite a lot.
This version is similar, except the longevity is less, the peach note that I loved in the original is greatly diminished, and the jasmine seems amplified.
    Not a fan.

Mad love. I just received my order, and am basking in generous spritzes of this amazing delightful fragrance! It’s going to knock something off of my “favorite 5” list for sure. It might even become my signature scent eventually. Givenchy really knocked it out ofth park. Mad, mad love for this creation!

To @LadyRuby, I can’t agree more…such a lovely wondrous fragrance. Extremely sensuous..i also wish it lasted longer.

I am hooked to this perfume, it was love at first sniff. I was going back to the store -probably looking like a lunatic- and trying it out for a week every day, before jumping right into purchasing it.
I love the freshness and the hidden sensuality of this fragrance. It is truly intoxicating, and makes me want to bathe in it. So much so, that I even my forgive its fault of being very bad at the longevity departement.
On my skin I get a good 3-4 hours for one go, and i have to reapply then, because it is completely gone. It has not much better lasting power on clothes either, which stroke me odd.
Such a beautiful scent that i am so angry with the company for making it so poor in lasting power. I would possibly repurchase it in the future, if i ran out of it though…

  15. :

    5 out of 5

It’s nice. It’s clean and fresh, dry, citrus-powder-floral. In the same “vein” as Elie Saab EDT and Shalimar Parfum Initial L’eau EDT. A sparkly, fresh, clean light feminine easy to wear, breezy scent. I get the tea notes in the dryness of this scent. I actually really like scents with tea.
I didn’t really get any basenotes… def no patchouli detected. But it is slightly woody/musky.
Lasting power is great, sillage good.
It’s a nice fruity floral to have in my HUGE collection… haha.

I absolutely love this fragrance. It’s light, fresh and perfect for daytime. I wear this when I want to smell wonderful but don’t want an overpowering scent. Tea leaf is the most prominent note when I wear this with a sweet, musky base. My only complaint is that I wish the scent lasted longer. I wear this with the matching lotion and still need to reapply after only a few hours. Because of this I’m going through the bottle quickly. The scent is really lovely I just wish it would last.

Holy Grail. This all happened so fast, and changed the game on fragrances completely for me. I just picked up a bottle yesterday from Dillard’s and I am immediately hooked. I want to fill a swimming pool up with gallons of this stuff and swim in it forever until I die.
I am usually a sickeningly sweet gourmand/sugar fan. I don’t mean Prada Candy-esque or Armani Si, I mean Viva La Juicy and Hanae Mori Butterfly, direct fruity sugar blast. Most of my life, I’ve opted out of the fancier, more mature perfumes because there was just something delicious missing in them, in my opinion.
Since I am now in my 30s (And also because I’ve been somewhat lost ever since they changed Hanae Mori Butterfly to be too heavy on Sandalwood, when it was my signature since I was 18 years old), I’ve begun to explore other options, starting with Flowerbomb, moving towards the Chanels & Miss Diors (which I do like for some more serious occasions, business meetings, etc), but then FINALLY, THIS GEM.
Ange Ou Demon Le Secret is the bridge that filled the void between juicy sugary sweet & mature but sexy & yummy. I don’t know how they do it, it’s so complex and elegant, yet mouth watering-delicious at the same time. It is the absolutely perfect thing I have been looking for. It works amazingly well with my body chemistry, better than how it smells on a tester, and in a way that I cannot even describe in comparison to the notes listed. I was actually shocked to read the notes afterwards because I was truly stumped on what they put in there.
When I first spray it on, it smells like lemons with a hint of tea for a couple seconds – which is very nice & energizing, although I would never want to smell like lemon unless I am cleaning something in my kitchen or using a facial cleanser.
Immediately following, I get this amazing scent on my body, and I have never experienced such a quick dry-down that is consistent in scent until it wears completely off – I don’t know how to describe it other than soft white leather, if leather were a fruity candy. It’s not too sweet, and it’s not too musky. I am so happy that I randomly tried this in person before reading the notes, because I would NEVER have known, and the notes actually in this are usually things I try to stay away from.
For me, the lasting power is all day (and I live in the desert), but I have also been layering it with the body lotion that came in the gift set, so that might be why.
Ange Ou Demon Le Secret is the perfect balance I’ve been seeking forever – sharp, sugary, sweet, sexy. If sex were a food, it would smell like this. I am sure we will all get different results via body chemistry, but my body chemistry is usually very picky and weird with fragrances (a lot of perfumes tend to sour on me or end up smelling like plastic, waxy, old stale lipstick, or too powdery/losing their bite). This is the most absolutely consistent AND complex perfume I have ever experienced in my life, enough to finally after decades, invite a new signature scent into my life 🙂

Before seeing the notes, i could swear there was peach on this fragrance. i get a peaches and cream vibe from Ange ou Démon le secret. Now i think it is the lemon doing it, but i can not explain why this may be so. Anyway, it is very fruity at the beginning and later on it develops into a different kind of sweetness, i guess it is the water lily. I get no patchouli and i really can not say if i smell the tea.
Overall i think it is boring and unoriginal ( and a bit strange) and i only get the “ange” part, the “demon” is nowhere to be smelled.

After having tested this perfume quite a couple of times, I decided I had to have it. Honestly, one of the best perfumes I have ever smelled. It’s great because it’s sour, sweet/fruity, fresh and green at the same time, which makes it very wearable for people of pretty much all ages imo. What I love most about this perfume is that it’s so versatile, you get a bit of everything. I can literally smell the different accords at the same time, which makes it a more exciting perfume and thus sooo worth the price. And of course it doesn’t hurt that the bottle is gorgeous.

I went to Sephora to try two particular perfumes and ended up covered with many. Of course, they all mixed up, and 2 hours later, I could feel one gorgeous scent, but forgot which one was that. Fortunately, i took also paper samples which I labeled, and back home, I founded out that it was the one I least expected – Ange Ou Demon Le Secret. It is a long time that I loved some perfume like this one. I am not going to elaborate the notes, everything is well balanced, just soooo beautiful. The love was so instant, that I almost bought the biggest bottle right away. Instead, I order a sample, just to be safe with my chemistry. Longevity seams to be quite good, and can not wait to own this gem. It is feminine, fruity, fresh, sexy and classy, simply beautiful.

This might be my favorite perfume of all time. It’s a slightly sweet, fresh, fruity floral with an aromatic quality that makes even the wood and patchouli dry down smell effervescent. It’s one of the few perfumes that I think works equally well in the summer as it does the winter.

Wonderful perfume but got tired after using the same one for 3 years. Ready to swap my 100ml bottle (but 80ml left) for any other perfume.

I love LOVE LOVE this perfume. It’s not offensive but rather pleasant. It stays long when sprayed on clothes. If it could only be less citric it would be a total perfection… I mean at least for me =]

I really like this one! Fresh, green tea scent with hint of white flowers… Summer appropriate, but I also wear it during autumn and winter. Because it’s very versatile, clean and fresh, it can be a good fragrance to wear for work.
I was pleasantly surprised that it’s very long lasting! I can smell it after 7-8 hours, which I think it’s remarkable for a citrusy -green fragrance… Normally even high quality citrus scents have tendencies to disappear from my skin very quickly, but this one definitely it’s a long lasting one on my skin, hence I will definitely re-purchase this one 🙂

Add white musk in 2014 reformulation… why?? It was already perfect. I don’t like this version.
It is one of my favorite perfume, but I’ll never buy this reformulation 🙁

I coveted Ange ou Dèmon Le Secret primarily because of the water lily…I just love anything with my favorite flower in it. Having said that, I really don’t have any expectations from this fragrance at all. But…I was pleasantly surprised! What can I say? The idea of Jasmine tea is BRILLIANT! I’m getting orange blossom sweetness tempered by aquatic florals and some woods. A little strange as orange blossom is not listed in the pyramid but it doesn’t really matter. This scent is very alluring; borderline ADDICTIVE! Ange ou Dèmon? Definitely ANGEL on me with its light and airy, almost ethereal characteristic. Sillage is modest and lasts for over 7 hours on my skin. Price tag’s definitely worth it. Would recommend to fresh fragrance lovers like me.

It smells exactly like Twinings Jasmine Green Tea. Exactly.
This makes it an usual smell for me and I can’t get too excited about it, but of course it’s a scent I adore.
Great light perfume for the spring and summer, very feminine and office appropriate.
The drydown is very similar to Endless Euphoria by Calvin Klein.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

I prefer the old version. Why they had to add a citrus note, it doesn’t go with the base that well! I’m sooo disappointed, it was my favourite perfume. Buaaa!

  32. :

    4 out of 5

This is more fruity than the other version, more cranberry mixed with lemon, verging on a orangy smell, a safe perfume less sharp than the original. This version I can smell it easier, the original was hit and miss my nose would smell the notes, the times I could smell it, it was sharp. I prefer the new version

  33. :

    4 out of 5

I been itching to try it, after reading countless reviews based on the 09′ version. I’ve recently tested the current version and its in no way what I expected. Perhaps the older version would be but I have no way of knowing at this point.
I get no freshness from it what so ever. To me its overly “perfumey” and I feel like I’ve smelled it many times before. I wouldn’t say its offensive, because its not, but I guess my hopes were too high and I set myself up for disappointment.

I love this fragrance , it has this spring freshness with a warm dry down . I found it to be of quality , and have been wearing AoD le secret collection for a few years now. This is delightful , bright , a light and stylish scent ! This my favourite for spring / summer ! Even so I now prefers and swapped for the Ange Ou Demon Le secret, L’ Eau De Toilette !

I’ve just got a couple of testers of this. I think it’s lovely. It’s definitely got hints of fruit teas, I can smell satsuma, strawberries? It’s sweet but NOT sickly at all. I think this is a beautiful, light, fruity but grown-up scent. May have to buy full size bottle. It’s a summer breeze in a scent.
(A week later). Have now realised this is quite cheap smelling and very synthetic. It’s amazing how different they smell when you wait for the drydown. A 13 year old might like this.

  37. :

Its a nice summer perfume, nothing special about it.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

I purchased this perfume unbeknownst to me that this was the reformulated version. This is NOT the same perfume! Okay, maybe a little. Maybe my nose is super sensitive or it’s all just in my head. On paper it smells very similar, on my skin that’s a different story. They smelled completely different. The 2009 version (the one I fell in love with) is much lighter, fresher, more crisp, whereas, this version is much heavier, with an enhanced lemon note, which in my opinion ruined this beautiful perfume. I’m so tired of perfume companies reformulating their perfumes. Why fix what is not broken?

  39. :

    5 out of 5

This is just as good as the original. A little bit stronger, but I don’t mind. Soft, tender, fresh and strong at the same time.
There’s just a little bit more lemon.
    Very nice green scent.
    Amazing masterpiece!

I’m happy with the new version, this is exactly the same on my skin (comparing to the old version) and has a better longevity!

  42. :

    5 out of 5

This one confuses me a bit. Were they trying to make a fresh/clean frag that turned too strong/perfumey, or aiming for a perfumy frag that, as sonjcek noted, got ruined by the citrusy note? Either way I have a hard time wearing it
That being said, it smells really great on clothing. There’s a lovely floral fruity tea mix that lasts days. Ha! clothing is the only reason i even bother with this frag. i’ll find a sweater that smells amazing then i’m like mmm, its the givenchy! spritz it on my skin, get a headache, the bottle is put back in storage, oy vey! so yea i’m definitely gonna try the edt/09 version

Beautiful scent. Very classy and feminine. It slightly reminds me of Omnia Indian Garnet. A gorgeous fresh floral. Recommended.

  44. :

The old one was sooo much better!! Here the citrus scent is ruining the lovely parfum note. Why did they replace it? Oh God! 🙁

  45. :

    3 out of 5

It smells just like the original EDT version only with an initial shot of lemon and a sort of bug spray smell that the EDT doesn’t have. It’s sharper and has more sillage and lasting power. Anyway this is a BEAUTIFUL fragrance and both scents are almost the same.

  46. :

I haven’t tried this version but I love the 2009 version and I’m disappointed that it appears to have been reformulated already. And after only 5 years! I don’t even own it, yet, which is a bummer. At any rate, I hope to buy the 2009 version soon and I will definitely try the 2014 version – I’m curious to know the difference.

Mmmm, heaven in a bottle. I love it just as much as its purple sibling :)) Both of them are so yummy! But there is a slight difference. The purple one is more of a deeper night time scent, whereas this version is lighter and more similar to the original Le Secret due to its freshness and lightness. I want both of them so much, ahhh!
GREETINGS FROM THE CZECH REPUBLIC! 🙂

@Jovejove…This is pretty much the same as the original version..just the bottle was changed and maybe one note was enhanced but its the same..so its just a touch fresher but the same…both versions smell the same on my skin…i like this one cause it has a slight fresher kick…the old one is more diluted ..so just a FYI:)
