I got a sample of Amour Elégant with an order quite by chance, and it was an unexpected success – a real discovery, in fact. I love all kind of rose scents and in combination with leather it’s almost guaranteed to please me – those notes really are made for each other! – but I probably never would have taken the initiative to test this one in spite of that. The fact that I had never even heard of this brand plays a role in that, of course, but also the prominent positions of oakmoss and patchouli in the “main notes” list: those are no particular favourites of mine. On top of that, I also don’t really like the look of the bottle.
So I tried Amour Elégant without any particular expectations, only to be very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The rose/leather combination is very well done here, and the other notes are mainly there to provide depth and backbone to the fragrance. The camomille is a great original touch – it provides a slight herbal-floral edge that complements the main notes wonderfully. It’s a pretty light scent, subtle and very well-balanced: more feminine than masculine, but not too sweet, or in fact nothing “too much” of anything in it. Elegant really is the word, although it doesn’t make my unelegant self in the least selfconscious about wearing it.
I agree with the reviewer below me: more people should be be talking about this lovely fragrance, and the fact that they’re not just might prompt me to get a bottle soon – before it’s too late. And now might be the time to do it, since it’s so perfect for the current season of early spring.

I had to revisit this fragrance to give my second opinion. To me, it is a linear fragrance, what you get in the beginning, you will get till the end (and I do like that). Amour Elegant opens up with a cold, almost transparent rose mixed with bitter oak moss and herbal chamomile. Other notes are not so apparent, I don’t get patchouli, maybe just a bit of soft leather. This combination is reminiscent of cold black tea, which I really do enjoy (that is why I finally bought a full bottle). Interestingly enough, the scent character reminds me of Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrances. That is because the presence of this fragrance is minimal, but it does last for a full workday. It is a beautiful scent and as the name suggests, very elegant, very French. In my mind, this is a perfect wedding fragrance. It is definitely worth trying out. If you cannot find it in your local retailers, I found that The Scent City offer a complimentary sample service (only once though), where you can try this fragrance out. I feel like I will need a backup at some point as it is really lovely and not many people talk about it.

This is so unique, I like it a lot. Strangely, Amour Elegant reminds me of a very strong ice cold black tea. Just the way I like it. Though I would like to smell this on a woman, rather than myself as it leans a bit to the feminine side to my nose (despite there being patchouli, leather and oakmoss in this). AE is very mysterious, dark and sexy. I believe it’s a must to try this one out. If you can afford it, then having a bottle for special occasions would be appropriate as well.

Not so sure about 12 hour longevity, but very nice fragrance. Not overpowering rose at all, very subtle. The leather isn’t outstanding, just a soft masculine undertone. Chamomile makes this the tiniest bit herbal, and lots of earthiness from the oak moss and patchouli. Smells apricoty to me for some reason which is why I marked Jour d’Hermes Absolu as similar.

Black boots, black skinny jeans, black turtleneck sweater, smoky eyes and bright pink lipstick. And best of all – no cares in the world.
This is the person who wears AMOUR ELEGANT in my head looks like.
The theme of the scent is overdone – cold rose with leather, but this is one of the coldest scents of them all. Imagine frozen, dark black night. There is no fuzzyness, no light in AMOUR ELEGANT and absolutely no love in this.
AMOUR ELEGANT is gothic, it’s destructive in it’s sharpness and coldness and it’s a bit frightening. Stone cold rose. Sharp leather and bitter chamomile.
12+ hour longevity full with rose never loosing it’s character. Excellent quality!
I love it. But I’ll stick with Lady Vengeance. I need those few bits of sweet vanilla, a little hope. If I ever decide that no more cares are going to be given, I’ll wear AMOUR ELEGANT to show the world how little I care.
