No, this is not a repackaged Pure Malt. I have experience with both and while Pure Malt doesn’t work on me at all, this one does the magic.
What i get with Pure Malt is a burnt-rubber smell with horrible longevity. I also don’t get any of the good stuff, like whisky and caramel. Pure Malt Creation fixed it all for me.

  2. :

    5 out of 5

Pure malt with a bright and aromatic whisky side.
This makes this fragrance more playful and less sweet and resinous, so there are certainly differences here.
I sadly got less projection and longevity, fair projection and 3 to 5 hours longevity.
I wish this was in a stronger concentration, but this certainly is special and could be worn at formal parties and holidays.
A Special and ellusive critter here

This is Pure Malt 100% but it performs way better, boozy fruity in a very very good way, very well blended and not cloying. this is incredible juice, I’M IN LOVE.

  5. :

    3 out of 5

It is 100% the exact same as Pure Malt.. only difference is the prism effect flacon. I did the test’s, I own bottles of both & my results, unfortunately revealed that it is 100% exactly the same juice, not even a slight variationtweak to the formula. Nothing!
do not be fooled by anybody else who is touting a difference, or better performance, or higher sillage, or more compliments.. they are either lyingor pulling your chain, or even worse – the never even tried both and are just trying to sound learned.
    Respectfully.

A beautiful smooth and boozy and fruity perfume. Excellent silage and longevity. Grabs your attention. This juice is good.

I see alot of comparisons between Pure Malt and Pure Malt Creation. PMC is the one for me! Mugler A*Men DNA is too loud and synthetic IMO. They do a better job with it in PM, but PMC takes the prize. Its smooth, cream, and subtle. It gets the A*Men signature DNA point across with maturity. Where PM and Pure Havane gets too loud and synthic, PMC smooths it out with creaminess. Yes I threw Pure Havane under the bus. But it doesnt remove the sweetness of PM. So you get this nice unique gourmet frangrance suitable for casual and dressy events.

  8. :

    5 out of 5

The opening of PMC a bit similar to PM, 10mins- 4 hours very similar to PM, then in the post drydown (4 hours till skin scent) it is 90% similar to the opening of the original A*men

  9. :

It feels unisex, I love it and wear it successfully.

  10. :

    3 out of 5

90~95% the same as original Pure Malt.
The difference is on the focus of the notes. On this, the “star” is caramel, while in PM is the dried fruit accord. To my nose, this makes original PM a little more harsh, and Creation more subtle and round.
Performance-wise, both are long lasting, but original Malt projected more on my skin, maybe because the fruity accord is more noticeable.
After several full wears of my PM bottle and a decant of Creation, I don’t see any reasons to get a full bottle of Creation, other than collection purposes.

Smells great.. Usually I use 2 or 3 spray.. And today my friends came to me and borrow this fragrance, he use almost upto 10 spray..

It’s delicious ,it is not similar to the original Pure Malt.. They both smelt the same to my nose when I compared .It’s delicious with the whisky, caramel and fruity notes… I love especially the first hours when it’s more boozy. I’ve tried most of the A*men line and this is by far my favorite.
    Scent6/10
    Longevity 8/10
    Projection7/10
I preferwearing it in cold weather.

People are saying both smell good like almost 80% same smell but pure malt is a better smell …..pure malt smells like sweet berries caramel whiskey vanillie amber patchouli chocolde and it,s so freaking amazingly blended and delicious… pure malt is the best and it is a wonderfull masterpiece

I have a March, 2015 bottle. I also tried original PM during 2009, and I can’t say I would be able to detect a difference. At that time, my sensitivity was very high, and the boozy quality came across as overbearing, but now my overall sensitivity is low (but apparently high for certain aroma chemicals); I enjoy the scent and it seems like the balance is right. After all, if the scent is called Pure Malt, you should get a strong boozy quality! And that leads me to a point about why this scent has been so popular: it does what one expects it to, especially for those who don’t have that much experience. In other words, a lot of newbies read the notes and are disappointed. They see tobacco or leather or coffee, etc. listed, but they can’t smell it. After a while, one gets used to the fictional notes, but the newbie doesn’t necessarily understand the way the industry works. Mugler scents, though, usually deliver, at least relative to most designers these days.

better than original pure malt, more defined and stronger smell, way better longevity and projection.

First i didnt like it but when it start to dry down it became amazing sweet and rich and delicious and very well blended specially for cold days less fruity than the original pure malt and not harsh like the a*men ,projection is good and longevity is amazing, but not safe as a blind buy .
the only think i didnt like was the bottle it look as made from cheap recycled plastic, but the box was the best fragrance box i ve seen. It alsoo had an invitation with a code to join the mugler circle club but it wasnot supported in my country

Rainy day. I put on a few drops ( maybe the equivalent of half a spray if the sprayer would function normally ) and went to the bookstore. Noticed a lot of people staring. Guess it can be a bit too strong, even with a minimal dose.

i’ve bought a Pure Malt on the internet, a tester one, but this (theres a note: TESTER, coffee absolute, patchoulli, bourbon vanilla on the back of bottle) arrived instead. so Ive thought its the fake one. Tested & its smell difference from Pure Malt, but the top note not bad then it turns to A*men vibe (coffee, caremel, patchouli & woody scent). The seller insist its the original Pure Malt. i lil’ bit sad,, coz i have A*men before, n i’m boring with this sweet coffee scent,,, till Ive found this on fragrantica. The seller should state that there is another Pure Malt version & it is Pure Malt Creation.
So imho, The Original PM is more unique than PMC to me because in PMC your can easily recognize the A*men vibe but…. im glad i have this discontinued product…
i’ve bought this just 340.000 Rp!! (or about 29-34 US$)
    So.. its alright,,
well,, i u wanna buy this Pure Malt Creation or many other perfume with cheap price! (Tester and Original,, sometimes without Box)

This was simply a marketing tool used by Mugler. It’s basically the same as Pure Malt with a few minor tweaks. It was not available for more than a year I believe and now it’s discontinued. There are samples available on Ebay if you are curious and simply want to compare this to the original but I strongly advise against paying a ridiculous price for the full bottle when you can get the original for $60-$80 bucks. BTW, I love both but it’s no need to own both.

Tested & its smell difference from PMalt, but the top note not bad then it turns to A*men vibe (coffee, caremel, patchouli & woody scent). The seller insist its the original Pure Malt. Kicking myself, I didn’t buy 2 or 3 back-up bottles of this masterpiece…. Can’t find it ANYWHERE these days…. What a marketing concept: “aged & toasted in oak caskets”!!! For me, like sitting by a crackling fire in the dead of winter reading a mystery novel and enjoying a toasty snifter half-full of Louis Treize Cognac……..!!!

awesome, awesome, awesome.one of the best perfume i have ever buy in my life along 1million(when it released not now) with the very good price.this perfume prove me another time that high price is not mean beter thing.i always want to have boozy and delicious scent that make me and people around crazy and yes this one absolutely do that.
the note is whiskey, caramel, honey with the hit of patchuli.
last and stuff is adequate.welcome to my best forever 10/10

So glad the ebay seller added a little miniature spray of this when I bought Angel Sunessence. Normally not a big fan of mens fragrances, due to them being far too strong for me. But this is wonderful, it’s buttery and sweet like toffee with a slight boozey edge to it. Absolutly heavenly.

Finally got to try this on today and it was a little too close to Angel original for me. The signature angel scent with a touch of beer. I expected more but wasn’t impressed. I liked it- It neither repelled me or inspired me.

pure malt creation is a sweet , sexy and hot perfume
    Reminiscent of pure malt
This condition occurs in about 1 hour
after several second a bitter smell combined with previous scent but it is not heavy
“creation” is very sweet ( Smells like sweet cream )
The combination of honey , vanilla , caramel and Gums
    but vanilla is dominant
after 15 min will be woody and some spicy with sweet smell
honestly i thought pure malt creation just 40 percent similar original pure malt
but in first 1 hours ، More like to original pure malt

Blind bought it, and initially didn’t like it. But this slowly grew on me.
Now i feel this is the Best Winter fragrance in my collection.
The highest rated fragrance I’ve come across on Fragrantica yet and it totally deserves the attention.
It truly is better than the best(Pure malt).

I confess that I’m not a huge fan of the original A men, although I absolutely adore some of the flankers – the original Pure Malt was the first that captivated me, and Pure Malt Creation 2013 has earned a place in my heart and in my fragrance wardrobe as a faithful companion that I seek out when I feel (or need to feel) warm, playful and relaxed.
It seems to me that this is somehow “richer”, and more refined and more complex than the original Pure Malt, yet I can’t quite put my finger on why I prefer the newer frag.
On a side-by-side wearing of each on different wrists they are similar but I find Creation 2013 somehow more appealing, with its beautiful, sweet, slightly woody, boozy note that evokes the aroma of fine Scotch whisky reminiscent of the way Escada Magnetism for Men evokes the aroma of red wine.
A fantastic concept. Scotch has always had a historical reputation for class, quality, and style, and it’s golden-ambery appeal is legendary.
Personally I find that scotch smells much nicer than it tastes, although I would love to find some that tastes the way Pure Malt smells.
It is awesome that Thierry Mugler has re-released Pure Malt in its new, improved Creation 2013 incarnation – a very smart move which shows that this great house is responsive to the desires of fans and aficionados alike, and as the original A Men secured its place in fragrance history I have no doubt that Pure Malt is equally worthy of status as a classic and in many ways revolutionary fragrance.
In their most fundamental forms there is great smiliarity between the distilling of alcoholic beverages and the distilling of fragrances so it’s kind of a logical progression to apply the techniques of the former to the latter, and if this is the result of the application of whisky technology then it deserves a standing ovation.
Although I don’t like the original A Men, I absolutely adore this masterpiece.
It is sophisticated, elegant and universally appealing, wearable in almost any scenario of modern life, has better longevity and silage than its predecessor, and as so many others have noted, I can’t stop smelling my wrist whenever I’m wearing it.
Someone suggested to me that the original A Men can be a love-hate frag because of its potency and the presence of certain notes that many dislike, and I certainly agree, however I find that in contrast, Pure Malt is a universal crowd-pleaser since it fortunately lacks the more controversial, less pleasant notes of its parent, while paying homage.
    J’adore.
I can see that I’m going to have to stock up on this one, since it is one of those scents that I find so pleasurable that I often wear it at around the house for my own delight.
I really hope that this beauty will remain in production for some time, and I have no doubt that Thierry Mugler will release another version some time in the future to mystify and charm us further. A masterpiece!

I don’t know how similar this is to the original Pure Malt, but I’d say that it’s a pleasant smell but it lacks longevity. It seemed much more wearable then A*Men, but I wouldn’t buy it because it doesn’t last very long on my skin at all.

Elaborating of the topic of perfume is like reckoning of magic. Even if someone does not believe in magic, she or he is carrying a sense of fear towards it. Perfumes are most of the time relating to human souls in just about the same manner.
A perfume, liked or dislike, touches us from the inside of our beings. A perfume makes you feel something, be it good or bad. Perfumes are designed to affect your internal sense of mood; they are made to alter or even create your mood and sense of momentary being for certain time… From this perspective, perfumers are giant mood creators; or even souls’ ‘players’… So, should we talk about perfumes superficially anymore. For instance, if a perfume touches your inside creatively, remember not only the notes, but also the soul who designed it to delight you from innermost.

i prefer this over the original pure malt, but i have to admit i love both. Normally, i’m not a big fan of sweet scents but this one is just really nice, the malt and fruit scents stand out a lot for me. Pure malt is really “warm” smelling, and is perfect for winter nights.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

I have both the original Pure Malt and Pure Malt creation. I actually thought all along they were exactly the same, but there are slight differences. The main difference to me is that I can smell more dried fruit with Pure Malt creation, which gives it a slightly lighter vibe for me. This is a nice scent – definitely something I will be wearing in the colder months. I actually prefer this over the original Pure Malt (by a bit).

  38. :

    3 out of 5

A*Men Pure Malt Creation is a perfect example of a fragrance where so many things could’ve gone wrong. Could’ve been too sweet, or spicy, or boozy or too fruity. But this juice is a masterclass in blending ingredients. Some ingredients obviously shine above others but the end-product really smells like each ingredient belonged there. The whisky note that comes through is not the dirty, peaty smell – it’s the sophisticated, refined smell of really expensive single malts.
It’s not hard to fall in love with this juice. Even if you are not impressed at the first sniff, you’ll find yourself sniffing your wrist again and again. It can be a little cloying, so spray with caution. Both, the longevity and the sillage are strong.
An excellent fragrance for dates and while clubbing, this will not let you down. A complete winner!
    Overall: 4.8
    5 Nose-gasm
    4 Awsome sauce!
3 Good but not exciting enough
    2 Meh!
    1 Hell to the no!

  39. :

after getting my pure malt creation, there is a difference to me in the opening, a sweeter version perhaps? still has the dna of the original. trying it on the top of my wrist and the original on the other. The original is still a remarkable fragrance and creation is so very close to me. It does seem to have a little better longevity but not overwhelmingly so. Better projection at first. I really believe those who have pure malt and love it like I do, I say don’t think there is any reason to dump your bottle for this one. I still have half of my original left and now have this. I have not tried it in the office yet. I think I need some more time with it to really define if there are distinct differences or do I want there to be?.. Overall it is a great fragrance bearing the same fragrant beauty as the USA version I have with perhaps a sweeter overall aroma.
overtime I may notice something more that will distinguish this to a solid conclusion but for now I will just give it a thumbs up, rating it as if I had never smelled my version (whatever year it is? I can’t recall)before.
Don’t lose sleep over this, both are winners, I would be stoked with either.
I am going to play with blending them.. see what this combination smells like.

Don’t be scared by the ‘2013 Creation’ on the box. On the contrary, this ‘revived’ Pure Malt is everything the original was, and even more! Same quality, same delicious mix of fruit, whiskey and caramel, but with slightly improved longevity and projection. I will wear this remarkable gourmand for many nights to come.

It’s delicious with the whiskey, caramel and fruity notes…gourmand indeed. I love especially the first hours when it’s more boozy. I’ve tried most of the A*men line and this is by far my favorite.
Good performance as well but I’m not a fan of the sprayer, they should change it.
    Scent: 8/10
    Longevity: 9/10
    Projection: 8/10

  43. :

    5 out of 5

I bought this frag during the summer months. I waited to give my review until the fall when most change from spring/summer fragrance.
I ♥ the opening aroma of a sweet boozy vib. I’m able to pick up caramel adding to the warm sweet scent. As it dries back I can pick up a fruity/spicy scent…I can barely pick up a cool mint/lavender tone without spoiling the complex aroma. I TOTALLY agree this frag is definitely better than A*Men.
longevity and Silage are very high lasting well past 8hrs..excellent!
    Finally opinion,
This was a blind purchase hoping that it wouldn’t be as sweet overall. The boozy note of whisky and carmel is a weird combination that you would think spells disaster. Instead this fragrance has a unique blend of different notes coming together beautifully making it ABSOLUTELY STUPENDOUS! One last comment…where’s the milk…lol. Rating this fragrance is easily 9/10..perfect during the fall and winter months!!! I would recommend it for those who enjoy Thierry Mugler’s fragrance’s.

“The fragrance is aged in toasted American oak casks to reveal a smoky fragrance that is subtly peaty.”
Do they really expect us to believe this?
I haven’t smelled the first release and don’t know if they are the same or not. Anyway, the oak casks story sounds very unrealistic.

    It’s fantastic.
whiskey, fruity and caramel in a fantastic combination.
sweet but not too much and way better than the original A*men and Pure Leather.
    Great longevity: 10 hours
and greatsillage: moderate about 6 hours.

I asked the customer service in Germany if this and pure malt were different and and they wrote back…
    Dear…
    there is no difference.
    Best regards,
however…from london they wrote me this…
Thank you for taking the time to email Thierry Mugler Parfum UK.
I am in receipt of your message regarding the difference between the original A*Men Pure Malt and the A*Men Pure Malt Liqueur de Parfum Creation 2013.
I can confirm that these fragrances are different to each other. The original A*Men Pure Malt is a combination of the Pure Malt Whisky note and the original A*Men Eau de Toilette fragrance. The woody notes of cedar wood and patchouli and the powerful notes of coffee already present in the original A*Men Eau de Toilette intensify the combination. The fragrance is then further distilled using modern technology.
The new limited edition range ‘Liqueur de Parfum’ is subtly different. The A*Men Pure Malt 2013 is a fusion of A*Men and the world of fine spirits, made possible by a patented method inspired by traditional techniques used to produce the finest Whiskies. The fragrance is aged in toasted American oak casks to reveal a smoky fragrance that is subtly peaty.
Due to its limited nature we unfortunately do not carry any samples of these fragrances however there are a select few stores who are selling the original A*Men Pure Malt such as Harrods London, Selfridges London, Birmingham, Manchester Trafford, Frasers Glasgow and House of Fraser Birmingham.
Once again, thank you for your time and I hope you will continue to enjoy the magic that is Mugler.
    Kind Regards

Lovely, potent, sweet and gorgeous. I can detect, whisky, fruits and tobacco notes. Lasts and projects really well. Later on the honey comes through more with the coffee and, of course, patchoulli. The A*Men note is also present. Fantastic men’s fragrance!

A Men Pure Malt Creation is just yummy! A wonderfully blended concoction of Caramel, honey, malt, vanilla, creamy milk notes and candied fruits. I smelled the original Pure Malt a few years ago and while I dont have a sample at hand for a side by side test, they are quite similar to my nose if not identical. Monstrous projection for the first couple of hours ( My Dad who was sitting 8 feet away smelled it when I walked into the room) and then settles down for the next 6+ hours of it’s life span. Winter and cooler weather frag mostly and a Great frag for a night out or a date as this smells so delicious, you just might end up being dessert if you play your cards right! A really nice gourmand. 9/10

I had a funny experience last week. Early in the morning I caught a taxi minutes after applying PM Creation. Still in the taxi, while I was thinking to myself how rich and gorgeous this scent is, the taxi driver asked very serious “Can you smell a burnt cable?” I was like “What? Noooo!” Haha!
It’s an amazing fragrance, anyway. I think the whiskey note makes it more casual while at the same time more special than original A*Men.

It’s most unfortunate that Pure Malt Creation 2013 (PMC 2013) was not brought into USA due to a business decision that it’s “similar” to original Pure Malt (PM). However, note that “similar” does not mean exactly the same. 2 reviewers elsewhere have said that PMC 2013 is 80% similar to the original PM, except that PMC 2013 has more ingredients in it, smells smoother, is slightly sweeter, but projects more and last even longer than original PM. Although both are EDTs, a simple analogy would be if original PM is EDT strength, then PMC 2013 is practically EDP strength. If you like PM, you should get hold of PMC 2013. Watch “Fragrance VERSUS – A*Men Pure Malt VS A*Men Pure Malt Creation 2013” on the tube. Once you compare, you’ll know that PMC 2013 is the one to get.

Basically the same as PM, but the fruit notes are more pronounced from the opening to the drydown. But it is more pungent and has better sillage!

When I first tried Pure Malt I really didn’t see what the big deal was about and was bitterly disappointed, so much so that I didn’t touch it for a week with no real intention to again. Before going out one day I was in a rush and grabbed the closest fragrance I could find and thus sprayed this. Suddenly this fragrance which I really wasn’t keen on hit me and I fell in love with it.
Maybe it was because I’m fairly new to fragrance collecting and my nose had never smelled anything so bold as a Pure Malt before and didn’t know what to think, but it clearly didn’t need more than a 2nd chance to appreciate it.
From my personal experience I would be weary of when to wear this, as if someone who’s into fragrances like me wasn’t sure what to make of it at first, I’d be surprised if your average Joe would appreciate it like so many of us do. One thing I couldn’t see anyone disliking though is the incredible dry down, which is on par with the perfect DHI for me.
I still just about prefer Pure Havanne over this for overall smell alone but for projection and longevity it wins hands down against its brother.
    10/10.

Just got this but I don’t think I’m going to keep it.
The opening is WAY too sweet.
I love sweet smells usually but this one is way over the top for me.
Its very fruity and synthetic on top, kind of like those liqueur filled chocolates with cherry filling. really really sweet.
After an hour or two however it becomes much more subdued.
Creamy and caramel, some coffee and of course the whiskey.
But I just cant get past the opening, it kills me every time.
Silage and longevity are absolutely amazing though. 24 hours on my skin, even after i shower i can still smell it there.
    Beast!

Amazing scent, amazing silage and good longevity.
IMO, the best from Thierry Mugler and in my top 3 all time best scents.
    Sweet, mellow, manly.
Easy to wear, not cloying at all.
    9.5/10

Yes, they are pretty much the same, but … however Creation seems louder, … I was wrong about Louder, in fact it is more concentreted, it has more body, if it makes any sense, because I think PMC projects less than the original 2009 formula, … and sweeter, and also less boozy. I can defenetely smell lavanrder and mint stronger which makes it a bit easier to wear in warmer weather. If I had to choose I would pick my left arm, Pure Malt Creation.

Okay not a final review but first impressions from top to buttom a total love for me although it has some similarities with the vintage pure malt i find this one a lot sweeter. Creation is a lot close to the original A AMEN and the vintage is its own identity. I dont find creation as boozy as the vintage but definitely more gormandish this is by far the perfect interpretation of the original A MEN in my opinion without the harsh tar note definitely a winner on 1 spray last about 8 hours on me with decent projection a winner again from this line I LOVE IT and by the way a female can pull this off.

Now this is what is truly meant when people talk about gourmand fragrances.
Pure Malt Creation is not just a whisky imbued fragrance, it is one which carries caramelized fruit, milky vanilla, honey and coffee, all served on a sandalwood table strewn with various leaves. When I first breathed it in (one does not lightly sniff this, impulsively you will find yourself engulfing it in), my mind shuddered. It seemed like the epitome of a rich, complex, yet entirely modern fragrance – and one which does not get too ‘fussy’ or perfumey. It has tremendous richness and depth – possibly more than the original – and definitely does suggest high quality and good materials.
Pure Malt Creation is long-lasting with enough development to keep interest and enough projection (but certainly not too much). After four or five hours it will sit closer the skin, but in warmer room environments it will give nice projection even after that time. Personally, I wore this in the evenings on a ski-holiday at Christmas in Mayerhofen and it was just perfect. (Perfectly complemented the Burberry London I was wearing during the day.)
Highly recommended try – especially as a Winter evening fragrance.
