Description

The new limited edition of the masculine Thierry Mugler fragrance for 2017 is A*Men Kryptomint, its fresh interpretation with peppermint as the main ingredient. The fragrance is designed as a powerful “star” that instantly restores your energy. The composition opens with notes of frozen US peppermint. Egyptian geranium forms the heart of the perfume, while the base captures patchouli and tonka.

Available as a 100 ml Eau de Toilette. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Huclier.

Can’t sample these anywhere near where I live (BFE rural South) so I emailed Mugler and asked for a sample. They sent me Kryptomint and two other different samples free of charge. That’s the kind of “caring about your (future/potential) customer” that gains my business.
So I’ve decided I will buy this because it was unique enough to stand out but I have to admit to being somewhat let down. I’ll explain. I own Havane where tobacco is the feature note and Mugler created a beautiful tobacco scent. Based on that, I was looking forward to seeing what Mugler could do with mint. When I first sprayed it, Kryptomint was exactly what I expected. It was an amazing mint fragrance with that mint note highlighted like tobacco is in Havane. But that opening fades away quickly and while that’s expected with top notes, the star attraction, mint, significantly fades as well. It just blends in with the chocolate and becomes like what a previous reviewer correctly deduced: a dinner mint. So its really KryptoDinnerMint with the mint sometimes taking a backseat to chocolate.
So what’s wrong with that? Nothing, but it’s just not exactly what I was hoping for, simple as that. I wanted stronger mint and mint featured more. The longevity and sillage seem to be average and that’s fine. Am I going to buy a bottle? Yup. Despite it not being what I hoped for it is still a very nice chocolate dinner mint and once I reset my expectations for the mint note I found another great Mugler fragrance.

I really like it a lot – it has the same vibe as Ultra Zest – like in Ultra Zest the opening is strong, in Ultra Zest a strong (blood) orange zest almost overpowering and in this scent the Mint is in the opening dominant – in the dry down both fragrances are very similar- the funny thing is, I do not really like the original A*Men, I only like some of its flankers – I also believe that many flankers have really been done very well and are quite original and mostly different in compare to the original scent

Kryptomint opens with a harsh spearmint, sweetened with vanilla and tonka. It’s cloying, to say the least. Honestly a very bad first impression, by my nose.
This quickly fades, however, into what is essentially if you smelled A*Men with a mint hot chocolate next to your face. It’s a delicious gourmand, but I’m left with a certain something “off.” In short, I’m not sure if the mint is a good addition to this.
But I bought a bottle. The design is fun, and I like the rubberized feel of the container. My sprayer was really bad — I heard this was common — but in my experience, unlike that of others, cutting around the nozzle didn’t do much to make it feel less like getting King Arthur’s sword out of the stone just to get a spritz.
The sillage is good. Friends could smell a whiff of 2-3 sprays from across the dinner table every once in a while. Lasts around 5 hours for me.
Overall, I’d recommend at least trying a sample. I feel like some of the other A*Men like may outshine this in the synthesis of ingredients, but it’s hard to deny how unique a gourmand this is. Maybe you’ll love it, but the only mint I find in Kryptomint turns me off.

poor balanced and overpowering, the hint of mint is a joke. all i get is generic mugler sweetness and headache. it’s like drowning in a pool of hot after eight choc. terrible mess.

Received a sample of this just last week and I must say that it is quite different. I’m not a big fan of the Mugler line, but this one is unique. It offers an initial “blow your hair back” WHOOSH of mint that eventually settles down into more of a creamy chocolate dinner mint vibe. I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced a fragrance like Kryptomint. I think that this one would reeeaaally grab the attention of the ladies during the holiday season, especially at the annual office Christmas parties. You know, the ones where the ladies have a few too many splashes of egg nog and begin to put their freaky…I mean TRUE colors on display. After all, Kryptomint does smell of mint…and a mysterious CHOCOLATE mint at that. And, we all know how much women fiend for chocolate. Come to think of it, I think I’ll actually save this one for the holidays. I think the office Christmas party juuuuuust might be interesting this year. I’ll keep you posted. If you beat me to the punch, just let me know how many ladies tried to take a bite out of you.
BEWARE: You’ll probably be the topic of conversation at the water cooler the following week, so be sure to put and keep your STUD characteristics in motion, DO NOT have too much egg nog, and maintain your composure at all times. Just be COOL like this fragrance. This should guarantee you a pick of whichever one of “Santa’s Little Helpers” that you might want, if you know what I mean. An early “Happy Holidays” to you all. Stay fun.

My favorite from the line, have UZ, PM, PH, and original. I love mint and I love the a*men dna so granted this was made for me. I have 2 backup bottles if that tells you anything. Only thing I have more of is aventus.

Lots of people in the reviews commenting on their dislike of the A*Men DNA which certainly isn’t me, I have lots of good associations with the original A*Men – it’s a gorgeous, very sensual masculine gourmand and a lovely counterpart to Angel. Was pretty disappointed with this one though – I’ll admit I was drawn to the bottle because the colour is one of my absolute favourites but the minty note is nowhere near as refreshing as what the bottle evokes. It smells very synthetic and has a vaguely marine note that reminds me of a generic “for men” shower gel and ruins the gourmand DNA to me. It’s a shame because a minty A*Men really appealed to me in theory – I was hoping they’d have kept the milky note in the original A*Men and it’d be like a mint choc chip counterpart to the kulfi scent in Tom Ford’s Noir Extreme, but that’s been lost altogether, and it feels like two scents in conflict with each other – a very generically masculine mint-marine-geranium-patchouli that jars with the greedy, sweet base notes. It’s the smell of a man who put on A*Men for a night out, slept on a friend’s couch and quickly sprayed on a cheap deodorant over the dried-down scent before heading home in the morning.

Is the A*Men DNA here? Well, yes, technically, but it’s been reduced to something wearable. In fact, you may be able to wear this without anyone commenting on it, whereas A*Men and other flankers will never fail to get a reaction–good or bad. The mint is chemical in nature, but not like mouthwash or toothpaste–just not edible. It rounds out the DNA of A*Men into something almost approachable. I’m reminded of sugar alcohols, which taste almost sweet. Kryptomint smells almost nice. Not bad, or even meh. You want to like it.
When should you wear Kryptomint? You’d think summer, but you’d be wrong. The A*Men DNA roars to life in the heat, but is gone just as quickly as it came. The sudden intensity makes this borderline-nauseating. But, for the rest of the year, this scent is a good addition to a collection. In Fall and Spring, it blends into a collection. In winter, it stands out. The icy mint and the A*Men DNA combine in the cold like the Night King staring mercilessly. Put a bit on your duster and you’ll keep those in amber, spice and wood on edge.

The person that clicked that this smells like Layton Exclusif should be banned from being anywhere near perfumes…or a keyboard

Oh great, another repackaged A*Men fragrance with mint ontop..if you already own the original Angel then no need for this one, the mint does give it a more summery vybe but it’s not distinct enough to warrant the purchase.
But the mint note is beautiful..smells like someone dropped a smint in the original A*Men

I was looking forward to this because it’s mugler but I’m disappointed. Old spice, axe comes to mind. Smells like stereotypical teenage cologne with angel patchouli… I liked pure malt’s fruit-maltiness, but didn’t like its axe aspect/short longevity. This one’s axe-ness is turned up a bunch of notches and doesn’t have a unique character to make up for it. I think the bottle sums up this scent well… tacky LOL. $90 for this? Huge rip off, this doesn’t smell too far from like $5 men’s deodorant or something.

This is A*men repackaged. What should cost $20 max your paying $40 (hopefully not retail) for the cool looking bottle. It’s minty, cool and refreshing as it dries down to a bland chocolatey weak scent. Thierry Mugler A*men fragrances are overrated they just suck but no one will admit it.
If you ever watch a video or read a review and hear the words “same fragrance just repackaged” this is who they are talking about.

    (A Decent Blind Buy)
I wanted to get my nose on this one for a while, instead of paying $10-15 for a decant I decided to just go ahead an blind buy. What the worst that could happen…Right? Found it on FragranceNet for around $35.
So, being a Mugler fragrance this is going to have a certain amount of Angel Men DNA. It works though. Off the first spray, I get a blast of Mint and Chocolate. I know that it’s not shown until the bottom notes but I smell it up front. Think Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Melting down the cone as you try not to make a mess. The Geranium and Sage come in as it drys on you and it is followed about an hour later by the Tonka and Vanilla. This is a Summer Gourmand.
I get about 3 hours of moderate to low projection in the Vegas heat. Once it dies down you are left with a sweet skin scent that you and anybody a foot away from you will enjoy. I have found that this works best in the office. Try spraying it on your shirt rather than your skin, it will give off a decent scent trail as you walk through your workplace, not offensive and but it says…hey….I care.
    Longevity: 6.7/10 (8HRS)
    Sillage: 6/10 (3-4HRS)

Sniffed it today. Very synthetic. I couldn’t understand what smell was that, very sweet with that mint. Finally understood. It reminded me the smell of candy cotton, sweet hookah’s smell that I smoked back in the days. Also it smells like sweet minty bubblegum. But this is not good at all. Sickening sweetness with that mint makes me throw up.Also my dad and sister didn’t like it.

There’s a DNA in all the A*Men Line. Patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla, coffee, chocolate… It’s really gourmand to my nose, you know from the start what the drydown will be like.
If you already tried one A*men bottle, you know the basis.
Kryptomint goes fresh, kryptominty and uplifting. That’s a very nice way to go in the opposite direction of the louder, bolder base. In fact, it’s loud on both directions. And that’s completly fine.
It has been compared to Ultrazest and I see the comparaison.
It’s a good performer, refreshing, if you like like the A*Men line, you must try this. If you already own Ultrazest though, maybe it would be a good idea to go smell it at the store. To me, however they feel different.
I can’t say much qualities about the bottles of A*Men. They look like big deodorants. However, the color for this one is amazing! That really stands out in a collection.
Just once again, there’s a DNA to the A*Men line. If you like it, Kryptomint will probably be interesting to you.
To me, it’s feels a bit like a UFO. And I like it for that.
    Thanks for reading my review!

This one and ultra zest are only similar in drydowns. Openings are different, how they evolve is also different from each other. Man! That drydown conquers me every time. So uniquely mugler… So charismatic…

I already have 9 of the Mugler fragrances & this one is another winner for me. On my skin it smells minty with slight chocolate and dries down with the hard hitting Mugler DNA and it lasts for 12 hours. I very much enjoy wearing this juice. My favorite out of all the collection is Pure Tonka, then 2nd place is this one running neck & neck with pure havane.
I only need one spray of this bad boy & it will work hard on my skin for the next 12 hours 🙂

Angel Men dna….check…..cool minty freshness…..check. Sounded good to me, and by golly it is. Absolutely love this scent. Hangs onto clothes for days, and is always in the rotation for me.

I’ve never smelled anything remotely like this, and after 15-20 years of sniffing and collecting, that’s quite an accomplishment. This is a creamy green peppermint, (not a sharp Christmas candy cane,) with hints of white chocolate coco. When all that is said, you might think it’s a Christmas scent, but remarkably, it seems more like a summer freshie. Regardless, it boosts my energy, giving me super hero strength and fortitude to tackle whatever stressors life tosses my way with aplomb.
I wish it lasted longer. I get about two to three hours before the is a skin scent on me.

  20. :

It has the original A Man DNA which I dislike plus a mint note..

  21. :

    4 out of 5

For me this starts as a gorgeous minty fragrance with a burst of geranium in the back ground, slowly settling into a milky and fresh peppermint chocolate vibe. Unfortunately to my nose, I smell no hints of coffee whatsoever, however I feel that this fragrance does fine without it.
Yes, it’s a bit ‘foodie’, but like someone else said, it manages to still be flirty and inviting whilst also being unique – I can’t say I’ve ever smelt a fragrance like this one.
    Personally I give this a 7/10 🙂
PS Do not believe those who say that Ultra Zest and Kryptomint are the same, they go in two completely different directions!

Love this fragrance, unfortunately my wife took it, and not ready to give it back, it reminded me of azzaro visit

  23. :

    3 out of 5

A break away from my usual, heavy/serious-toned scents. Reminds me especially of the peppermint chocolate chip ice cream you can get from Coldstone. Manages to have a flirty undertone to it. It’s invitng. Not too foodie.

I am a huge fan of this fragrance. It might not be for everyone, but it is gonna get a lot of wear from me this summer. I do feel it has a mint chocolate opening. With both dying down rather quickly. It does have a similar dry down to ultrazest but there is mint through the duration of this fragrance al be it not the same mint that exists in the top but still minty all the way through. Very good longevity on me and I think it smells fantastic. Keeps me feeling fresh all day. I like ultrazest as well but I don’t feel like one can replace the other. I got mine off Ebay for 34 bucks, an absolute steal in my opinion. Don’t knock it til you try it. Minty fresh all day long.

  25. :

Almost identical to Ultra Zest except for a couple minutes in the topnotes

  26. :

    4 out of 5

I dont get anything “dark” from the notes. Not the chocolate or the coffee and thankfully not the patchouli. The first thing that came to mind was mint/white chocolate. In any case its delicious and a successful blind buy always feels good.

  27. :

    4 out of 5

I sampled it in a Douglas store. It smelled like After Eight Mint Chocolate. Sorry, not a fan!

  28. :

    3 out of 5

Where to start with this one? As usual, standard fare for the line with the bottle design but the bright minty teal is pretty cool looking. I like it.
A punch of zesty herbal peppermint right up front. It’s cooling to the skin and the sage gives it a bit of spice. I don’t smell the pepper but it dries down to a spicier version of A*Men’s past flankers. Chocolatey, minty A*Men. Can see the similarities with Eros in the drydown. It’s overall an awesome scent. Probably my favorite of the line for versatility and wearability.
Unfortunately, this one cannot compare to the others as far as sillage and longevity goes, the latter being not so bad. Mostly skin scent though. Quite the bummer since I could see wearing this one as a signature year round in most occasions. I’ll test it further and update my review if it goes better upon further wearings.
Update: It has not gone better. Unfortunately, this is in the “okayish” range as it pertains to performance. Release this in an EDP or something, it’s an outstanding scent.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

poor longevity, better buy Ultra zest, btw they don’t smell alike !

  30. :

    3 out of 5

Do not be fooled by those who compare Kryptomint with Ultra Zest and say that they are almost identical.
They are two completely different scents that go to absolutely different directions. They share only one aspect, they are gourmand’ish scents as of A*men line.
I get really good performance with fantastic longevity, on paper and cloth it stays for weeks.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

this is my second scent bought for the spring/summer..it is decently fresh and sweet..kinda linear for me as you’d really smell mint from opening til it dries down which is good as mint has its calming effects..i wore this today in the office and it helps me relax and focus..id wear it again tomorrow til i got tired of it..though similar opening with sunessence due to mint part, the latter is more boozy and krypto behaves just right..as it is not a typical mugler scent for men, i still love it due to it’s lightness and wearability..

  32. :

This is currently being dumped en mass to discounters and can be had for about $40/100ml.
I was interested in Ultra Zest because of hopes it would be similar to the great Ultra Red by PR. Nope. A lighter amen with some orange that fades. Kryptomint does drydown to about the exact same thing. Why pay $120+?
If you like ultazest but don’t have it yet get kryptomint.
Lasts the same too, people talking shit that this is weak. For me it’s right on the happy borderline, I stopped wearing amen 20 years ago because it was just too much.
The mint is great in this and even cools the skin upon application and hangs around for about 3-4 hours after the initial strong blast settles.
Then dries down to ultrazest with more chocolate.
Cool bottle which I have no trouble using but I can see it being trouble for people that have cocktail wieners for fingers.
Would I buy this for $100? Hell nah, but that goes for all the amen line.
    $40? Steal.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Actually if you already have Ultrazest, you should not buy it. And if you don’t have UltraZest, buy UltraZest rather than Kryptomint, cause Kryptomint is the same as UZ, but lighter, no yummy orange, not solid longevity.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

This smells really good. It’s the one for you if you like chocolate mint. Its just chocolate mint in the opening and chocolate in the drydown. Not much depth to this smell, but I don’t mind smelling like that throughout the whole process.
Definitely one of, if not my favourite gourmand fragrance.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

Kryptomint starts off with a lot of mint on the top, which subsides within a few minutes then the familiar A*men takes over. Later in the drydown however the minty accord re-emerges, foretelling the advent of Aura a year later. Some days I get a lot of orange in Kryptomint, but no mint — go figure! I’d buy a full bottle of Kryptomint if I could get the sprayer on this type of bottle to work. The scent could be unisex, but the bottle requires a man’s strength to operate it.

  36. :

    Very similar to UltraZest.

  37. :

2nd update – not sure if I had a defected bottle when I tested it the first time but today I tested it on my skin again and the performance was pretty intense compared to my last experience. Today at ulta around 2pm, I sprayed Eros on my left wrist and kryptomint on my right . It is now 11:30 pm at night and I can just barely smell Eros and EASILY smell kryptomint on my right. Longevity is great however this scent doesn’t project like u would think it would .
    Longevity- 9 hours +
Sillage – about 2 hours for me, then it becomes a skin scent
Also for the first 30-40mins I get mostly the mint note , then the greeny and herby notes start to kick in and take over the show while the mint note stays in the background
Smells very similar to ultra zest in the dry down which is fantastic
Initial spray -8/10- very minty and chocolatey like a mint ice cream
Dry down-9/10- fresh, clean, sweet, and slightly minty so it’s like a fresh gourmandy scent
    Overall rating – 8.9/10

  38. :

    3 out of 5

Very nice as a scent – not equally nice as a perfume.
Mint and chocolate without it being mint chocolate somehow.
Something about this juice makes me think it’s better suited in a scented candle than in a spray bottle.
Don’t get me wrong tho, I really enjoy the scent; but not on a body.

  39. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve been waiting for a long time to smell this one; I finally found it in an Ulta store. That green bottle certainly stands out!
So do the top notes – and not in a good way. Okay, it’s settled: I do not like mint scents. They all seem to remind me way too much of toothpaste. The dry down is okay – A-Men – but, yuck, those top notes. Scope, Crest, Orbit gum, etc.
    I pass.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

    It’s cool!
For the sprayer use your thumb and not your index finger.
The bottle color is just too cool.
And ……………….you can open it like the refillable Amen classic bottle.

Got this at Marshall’s for 49.99 I get lots of mint the First couple of hours. After the 3rd hour dry down I get a delicious York Pepermint chocolate mint paddy. Not bad a at all. It carries the patchouly in all angel men line. I don’t own angel men pure ultra zest but I don’t see how Kryptomint resembels Ultra Zest

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Not bad at all…I paid $40 at my local Marshall’s.
Minty, yes, in the first hour. In the dry down I’m getting Eros.

  43. :

    3 out of 5

Kryptomint has intrigued me since it was first launched, but I never seemed to run across it anywhere, not even in department stores.
    Until today.
After picking through the shoddy remnants of sale perfumes at Marshall’s (and finding nothing of interest), on a whim I headed for the men’s fragrance section. And there it was – a bottle of Kryptomint, sealed, for next to nothing, like $20. Of course I bought it. What a score.
Bottle – yes, the color is so cheery and the rubber cover just makes so much sense. Why isn’t this concept more popular? But enough about packaging, let’s get to the scent.
First of all, this is not a toothpaste or chewing gum mint. This is closer to an Olba Herbal Bath mint, mint and herbs like some European health tonic. Sage and mint, I suppose. The overall effect is like someone mowing grass in the early spring. Usually I dislike the opening on a men’s fragrance; this one is different.
The heart opens into your basic A*Men: patchouli, coffee, chocolate. Which is always wonderful. This is so unisex, or genderless really, but that’s my opinion of all the A*Men line no matter how macho reviewers make them sound.
True, longevity is not that strong. Herbal smells don’t last forever. Kryptomint lasts long enough, and I can reapply. This is a beauty; not for everyone, though. If you like grassy fresh unusual quirky scents off the beaten path, give it a try!

  44. :

    4 out of 5

I smell it in a store couple of weeks ago. And I can’t forget it. I want to smell it on my man. It is very good perfume. It reminds me polish chocolate with mint. Bitter dark chocolate and icy mint. Best scent for sexy, handsome man, one of my favorite from A*Men collection. And this bottle is really amazing!

  45. :

    3 out of 5

I love the A*Men line up, I have 10 in my collection. With many line ups there might be a weak link, and for this line up it’s Kryptomint. It was coming into a pretty amazing line up, so it was never going to be easy.
To me it opens up with a burst of mint and sage, as it progresses the chocolate and tonka bean comes out. Unfortunately for me the mint disappears, it’s still there faintly, but you have to smell your skin to get it. This is where the fragrance fails for me, the lack of oomph in the mint, especially since it’s part of the fragrance’s name.
Having said all that, it’s not a bad fragrance, I still love it and I’m glad I have it in my collection. I just feel it doesn’t reach its full potential or live up to its name.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

A lot of people complain about the performance, yet when I tried it multiple times with a few sprays, I had a scent cloud for a whole day and on a paper strip it lasted over a week.
Amazing and unique, quality blended scent, it has soft and calming, yet sophisticated effect. It is unique as scent, even unique as in A*MEN line, but at the same time I get a slight resemblance with Eros.
Presentation represents like for a younger crowd, but it is easily for any age and any sex.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

starts like strong mint chocolate..mint chocolate ice cream..but mint quickly disappears and you are left with regular A*Men after that.
    performance is VERY poor unfortunately.
I cannot smell ANYTHING after 1 hour.
bottle was bought directly from Mugler.
bottle looks super cool though.one of the prettiest bottles I’ve seen.
I do not recommend this one because longevity and performance is really poor.

  48. :

    3 out of 5

this totally good for any age, feeble mint opening after that A*Men wakes up and stays for the whole time, better for summer!

  49. :

    4 out of 5

Recently i had this one, sprayed on my wrist, the first note will kill you with a ton of minty sage, its a bomb! Leave you with minty vibe..,i kind a didnt like it because it reminds me of chewing gum or a toothpaste,..!?but then miracles on the middle notes,..geranium!? Oh i love it!..and dried down to the heart notes of the tonka bean and a little vanilla in it,well its unique,..!!
For me its suits for a summer outdoor ,indoor..fall..
Perfomance and longevity around 6-7 hours..
    Overall 9/10..

  50. :

    3 out of 5

Suitable for those that find original A*Men too strong. Here the patchouli has been largely sidelined in favour of chocolate. The role of the mint is milder than the name would suggest, and by the time the heart comes, the mintiness is being driven by the geranium. Tonka comes in at the end to give a soft drydown. Performance is average. Overall a good fragrance, but I would have liked the mint and patchouli to be stronger.

  51. :

    3 out of 5

I have been wearing this one a lot. I love the A-Men Line and this one is quite addictive. I get an sweet chocolate-mint candy in the opening with a very tone down A-Men DNA(Patchouli). The mint is artificial like a mint candy and not an actual mint leaf. That is a good thing for you sweet tooth lovers out there.
Ok that mint and chocolate fades away after an hour but I still get a frosty cool feeling from this scent. I think that is coming from the geranium note which adds some sweetness to the scent with a hint of chocolate. This fragrance projects very well on my skin a clothes just hang on to that cool minty chocolate accord. This fragrance garners attention and I am loving it for the cooler months. Great underrated release from Mugler that actually reminds me of the original a lot.
    Longevity 8 hrs
Projection and Sillage is very strong
    Scent Just Tasty

LOTS of hate for this one, and probably for good reason. Me, I was similarly unimpressed – even considered it to be a fail at first. After about an hour or so, it just became the Ultra Zest base with that weird play-dohish vibe. Not for me.
That was like 5 months ago. But after going through 4 samples of this, I’ve changed my tune a little. True, it’s probably not a summer scent, but that mint really seems to hang on. I’ve even gotten compliments on it at a birthday party. What can I say – some women find it intriguing. Longevity and projection are great on my skin.
So here’s my parley – for the fall and winter, on festive occasions indoors or outdoors, it’s actually a decent wildcard. Maybe even try layering it with some of the other flankers. Just for fun – you know.
But overall, it’s definitely not as bad as people say. For me, it’s still probably the worst of the line, but I won’t be bashing it anymore, despite not being a fan of mint.
    Scent – 6/10
    Longevity – 8/10
    Projection – 7.5/10
    Overall – 7/10 – Whereas, it used to be a 5.

I normally love the copy and paste work of Mugler masculine line. Not this time.
I agree that this one smells more like last year’s Orange one, but still has enough DNA of the excellent original. And while there are some great additions that bring respectful gravity to the line (think Pure Havana, Malt, Cuir, Tonka) Cryptomint is a menthol misstep in this ever increasing (and thanks for it) portfolio.
I hope the next one (I would really love a yellow or pink bottle to make my full collection even more colorful) will rectify this lapse.
It’s a nice scent, but Mugler can do better.

Smells like mint chocolate chip ice cream. Enough said. No Thanks. A fresh aromatic mint scent would’ve been nice. The mint in this fragrance is nice but the combination of vanilla and chocolate ruins it. Mint, Patchouli, background of Vanilla, and it would’ve been a killer fragrance.

i was so exited for this kryptomint to be awesome! i love fresh minty style fragrances, and I’ve worn A men for a long time and enjoyed thierry muglers interesting scents, but this one kryptomint wa super disappointing! not at all what i was expecting, oh well, maybe there next one will be better.

I tried this a couple times. I would have wanted/expected an icy refreshing mint opening, warming up gradually to a minty gourmandish kind of thing with some earthiness to rough it up a little. The mint itself would need to be a showstopper, done really well.
Instead the mint was very subdued and too warm, more like hot chocolate/vanilla with only traces of mint in it. Everything is so merged together that it smells like some sweet creamy fantasy note that reminds me of nothing in particular.
It’s nice. Just kind of nice, in some bland corporate way.
The packaging and name are both pretty damn cool (pun not intended !) , and they worked on me, I’ll admit. Made me want to buy it just cuz.
    Marketing team = A+ , scent team = C.

This is the WORST thing ever in the MUGLER A*Men series. A catastrophe. I would not spray this on a dog or a car seat. Bottle looks nice though. You can tell that it is a BOMB when eBay sellers are under-charging for it and soon it will turn up at T.J.RossMaxx for $39.99.

Sort of disappointed.Been hyped for this since February. Bought it and it gets compliments, but has nothing on pure Tonka pure malt or havane. I would definitely not by a backup bottle.

Just tried this today at Dillard’s. It’s really nice and it doesn’t have that toothpaste like mint smell, which is really nice to me. I guess because the patchouli and other notes help to make it smell more earthy and natural. I honestly don’t see how people can compare this to Ultra Zest, as the two smell absolutely nothing like each other. The guy at the counter said that the fragrance has real peppermint oil in it, so you have to shake the bottle before spraying, otherwise the peppermint oil will separate and you won’t smell it when you spray it on. Not sure if this is true or not though, since most sales associates don’t really know that much about fragrances.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream, in a bottle.
I enjoy deeper smells, though the problem with summer scents is that they’re so light and often overwhelmingly citrussy. This typically leaves no dry down and a skin scent. Kryptonite breaks that linear trend and goes bold. I like the change and it gives us a deeper summer fragrance. My rating 4 out of 5. And who doesn’t love mint chocolate chip ice cream in those hot summer days!

It’s an interesting perfume definitely, surprising mint and patchouli combination. But I find base a bit annoying, too sweet. Longevity is 3-4 hours.

Here’s my muddled review: Everytime I go into the dept. store, i spray on a terribly unreasonable bath in this
