I own the body oil spray, and it smells like something people might have worn in 1935. Back when powder had more of a tang or bite to it. This isn’t a bottle I reach for (I’ve sprayed it once, just now only). I bought it blind because E. Coudray used to make a Vanilla oil with which I was obsessed, and I wrote to the company trying to track it down, but they said they stopped making it and that Vanille et Ambre was what they suggested as the closest match. It’s not vanilla. If you’re looking for a vanilla fragrance, keep looking. Probably in the direction of Montale Vanille Absolu.
Oh, well. If anyone has the Vanille one (old bottle) please PM me.

This perfume is like someone said below, like a familiar comforting hug. Soft and tender, sweet but not overbearingly, baby powder-like but the most expensive kind. I really enjoy it, the only thing I worry about with this one is it does have a mild vintage feel to it. Which knowing myself I will grow tired of so buying a full bottle is risky. Trying to put my finger on what that note is, the tonka or the iris, but gives it a very subtle “this is a perfume for a mature lady” feel.

This is one of my loves. Smells like a sweet vanilla cream doughnut with plenty of sugar that has been dropped in a jar of vintage baby powder.
An absolute sweet baby powder BOMB.

I ‘ve put on this perfume a few times, but I didn’t enjoye the juice. The smell is very strong and has a baby powder kind of smell, but less subtle then baby powder, it’s a baby powder ‘extract’ kind of smell that totally doesn’t resonate with me. It’s too overpowering and I regretted putting it on after each time I decided to give it another try.

I received this in an eBay auction as an addition to the Serge Lutens Gris Clair that I was really after. Tried it first and thought it too sweet and overpowering (I’m a heavy sprayer)…but then, on that afternoon, Gris Clair also seemed too sweet.
Days later, I am back with it and I think I really like it. It is very powdery, a little reminiscent of baby powder, but more subtle and sophisticated, especially in the dry down. There is a unique (to me) note that reminds me at times of clean wet laundry…hard to explain, but not unpleasant.
I do have to apply it more sparingly than I usually do, but that is not a bad thing. It last for at least eight hours, wafting up unexpectedly when I move. Feminine, powdery, but not self-effacing.

This should be called ‘Vanille Poudre et Ambre’. It’s feminine and comforting, a sensual pureness. Makes me thing of a mum embracing her little baby. Simply love it.
So strange chemistry works: on a friend of mine there is no pureness but sensuality smell in a ‘sexual’ way.

This somehow reminds me of Avon’s Timeless. It smells very vanillery and ambery. Very powdery and baby-like.

A castoff from my older sister, I like it, but not on me – I use it as a room spray. To some this may sound like waste or worse, blasphemy, but for me it’s just not a perfume, not something I would WEAR, but I like to smell it in the room. Smells like its name: of amber and vanilla.

Oh, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways….
Just divine. People will lean in and try to get a whiff of this when you wear it – it is that irresistible!
Creamy, comforting and yet sensual and enticing.
I love to wear this in the bleak mid-winter.

Ambre et Vanille is my go to scent when I feel like being pampered and comforted.
Heliotrope vanilla and gorgeous amber blend to make this a beautiful warm and sweet fragrance.
It gets powdery from the iris after an hour or so from spraying and it’s just divine.
A very feminine scent it ends up smelling like luscious baby powder.Lovely before going to sleep.
If you like warm and cozy scents this one is a must besides it lasts many hours and sillage is just perfect

Firstly it was soft sweet cinnamon and after an hour it is lovely sweet baby powder, with just a faint echo of the earlier cinnamon. Lovely lovely lovely, beautiful, soft and comforting – but a little too reminiscent of that precious newborn baby smell. I think I would end up wanting to over-nurture everyone around me if I was smelling this regularly.

This is actually a pretty good mixture of amber and vanilla if it wasn’t for the slightly sharp edge that I get from it… It can actually cause me a headache.
It becomes less sharp and softer in time, but it takes too long for my liking.
Sillage and longevity are very good!

A non-gourmandy gourmand for sexy people.

Gloriously sweet! On me, this starts off a bit like a freshly baked vanilla cake, and then it seems to gently float a few flowers from deep within the amber and vanilla scent. It smells luscious and warm on my skin, and I think I am in love with it! It is close to the skin, and I can’t help frequently sniffing my wrist. Yummy and gorgeous! Thanks E Coudray!

Vanilla caramel fudge. The opening aroma is deliciously edible;sweet, rich almost chewy.
After five minutes the powdery note puts in an appearance and there it stays for the duration which, frankly, isn’t an astounding amount of time but it’s okay-about 3 to 4 hours as a gentle powdery vanilla skin scent.

    Enjoy 😉
    The oil is great too!

Classic powdery, ambery vanilla. Sweet and intensely feminine. It smells familiar, like the aroma wafting from a sweater when being hugged by a loved one.

With this perfume I bought a loving embrace in a bottle!!
Soft, warm, sweet (but not overly sweet), very comforting; it’s a vanilla with the tiniest hint of warm spices and flowers and some lighter, elegant notes swirling around it.
For me this is a very relaxing scent, and I’ve noticed other people coming closer as they are drawn to this smell as well.
The perfume lasts forever on me, stays close to the skin but is present and noticeable all day.

    Hello Dears,
little add for my previous review. This brings to my mind it`s very comforting scent for those who are hopelesly romantic with mind and soul. For those who live IN Love despite the outer world they are living in. Despite people around them, Love It-Self just always find them. Hmm this is really , really interesting, what a scent can raise up in human mind from deep, deep place… ***

MMmmmMMMmm. I got a sample from Dear Friend of mine. This is GEORGEOUS scent. Sweet oriental, with huge character. If Your soul loves and resonates to soft, oriental, strong, tempting and comforting scents —- This is for You Dears. So huge Beautifull feminine scent. This became one of my fawourites next to Secrete Datura ***<3<3<3***

This is nice – vanilla and amber nicely balanced; it doesn’t go anywhere or develop into anything special it just hangs around a decent length of time being warm and cosy. I like it but for the price and it’s ‘exclusive’ image I confess I expected something a bit more exciting.

    I don’t think there is a perfume of E.Coudray I wouldn’t like.
That one is soothing, embracing and warm. It can be treated as both; day and night ware, considering the lightness and sublimity.
It is very gourmand and pure: starts with light flowery and orange hint and then there is only amber and vanilla at it’s best.
    Beautiful dry down.Lasts forever.

    Ambre et Vanille …
What a cosy vanilla. Embracing, staying close to the skin, soothing.
Not a typical sweet one. It is more like a caramelized sugar on creme brule – one step more and it will become bitter.
    Very sensual and peaceful.
I also cannot detect the other notes. Just the smooth vanilla veiled in something airy.
Yes, it is simple, but for me it makes this fragrance sophisticated, and to me it smells expensive.
Should be great as an autumn / winter day fragrance.
My man says it smells like babypowder.

I had great expections for this, but it smells so so. Quite pleasant, but very powdery and soft simple amber plus vanilla and nothing else.

Woody vanilla scent that reminds a little bit of amaretto. I would call this one “kinky vanilla” comparing it to the Vanilla et coco. The dry down kinda reminds of Ange au Demon Givenchy but it is much more pleasant and gourmand.

This seems a very linear and uncomplicated fragrance to me – it smells of amber and vanilla and little else. I cannot really detect all the other notes listed (except maybe the heliotrope). It is pleasant enough, wears very close to the skin, and shouldn’t annoy anyone.
