Description

Armani Prive collection has received three new editions just before summer 2015. Two of them are arriving as limited editions inspired by the sand of the Mediterranean Sea. The third fragrance, which will become a steady member of the Armani Prive collection is inspired by amber interpreted in modern way. Armani Prive Ambre Eccentrico is based on warm, resiny, precious accords of amber blended with warm balmy aromas of tonka, patchouli, cinnamon and prunol molecule (based on plum, spicy warm flavors of dried fruit and intense cardamom aroma). Perfumer of the new Armani Prive edition is Calice Becker.

This scent is uncomplicated, but in a pleasant way. It settles into the skin, and exudes a warm, glowing balmy cloud. Perfect for cool days, and crisp nights.
If you like amber, you will enjoy this.
If you cannot afford this, a close runner up id Halston Woman Amber…at a fraction of the cost, but a lovely scent. Less “masculine”, for certain, but lovely.

Ambre Eccentrico, has this very simple harmonious quality, dry a bit burned out amber, and a soft cinnamon and a semi gourmand tart plum, and we all know that it is leaning towards the hot dry Sable sand, smells like natural skin almost.

Ambre Eccentrico is stunning! Modern intake on amber with dried fruits and smoky-sweet benzoin.
I Was wondering how different from Lutens Arabie it will be – very different, yet both of them belong to those non-edible gourmands, atmospheric and intoxicating, that jump on you at once and captivate your heart. This one has strange dusty-desert feel, that I experiencing in Dune Dior, Tigre Kenzo, L’Air du Desert Marocain of Tauer. Those are fragrances of crouching tigers indeed.
Exotic, well-lasting and memorable, I do recommend this one!

My first thought was “where’s the amber in Ambre Eccentrico?” On my skin, I get syrupy sweet plum and something like quince paste or apricot jam. The amber doesn’t come onto the stage until a few hours in on my skin. I find that I prefer plum notes that are transparent and a bit watered down like in Feminite du Bois by Serge Lutens. The amber here is pretty shy – not enough to counter-balance the sweet plum and dried fruit, at least for me. If you’re looking for a very sweet dark fruity fragrance with a hint of an amber base, this may be your jam (pun intended).

    Sweet powdery amber.
I sense plummy, dry fruit Amber, with doses of cinnamon, and powder notes. The tonka beans are sweetening the bitter dried fruits and makes it powdery & mildly sweet while the plums adds the sour freshness & csnt detect any patchouli.
It is contrasted between powder sweet and bitter fruit and spice as the Amber is kept to minimal and placed as the base.

I’ve discovered the niche perfumery through TOM FORD private blend fragrances.
Therefore, it becomes really rare for me to be stroken by a new scent after smelling beautiful products such as Tobacco Vanille.
Though, this Amber Eccentrico has made me feel this very special emotion ; “the wow effect”.
It’s not a conventionnal amber, so the surprise was even bigger.
I personnally think that it is quite unisex, it lasts for a good while, it is very unique, it is warm and sexy, mouth watering.
I will definitely put a bigger attention to the Armani Privé line in the future.

I wanted the classic Amber from this line since it was so good and complex but it wasn’t available at the time so I bought this one blind from online because of a good discount. All I can say is that it’s not what I expected. It’s got a thick rich gourmand texture kind of like fudge. Unfortunately the end notes that I enjoy from most amber scents is missing because the development stops at the sweetness and doesn’t go further. I like to mix Armani Code luna a dryish slighly metallic neroli scent that needed some luciousness with this to give it some fruitiness and lighten up the dense sweetness. It’s good for gourmand craving but not satisfying for Amber classical lovers. I would suggest trying the Maitre Parfumeur
And Gantier Ambre Precieux or the other Amber from this line instead.

I rarely buy a full bottle of an expensive niche perfume, but this one was an exception.
This is a very unique warm, VERY well blended gourmand.
You get Amber, fruity notes, tonka bean, cinnamon and a noticeable plum. This smells like nothing else.
It warps you in a warm, cosy feel. I feel like an Aura of sweet-warm-loving light is surrounding me.
As far as performance, this is a beast mode. 1-3 sprays are enough to last 10+ hours with great projection.
For special occasions, dates, suit and tie, luxury events.

This fragrance to me is quite unique in terms of both smell and structure. I don’t know how to explain it since I’m not a perfume expert but when I smell it I can tell that it does not follow the usual pyramid style of notes in fragrances.
Now to the smell when you first spray it on it’s very linear what get at first will be there in the end it’s thick and sappy in feel very deliciously sticky. Main notes on me are plums, dried fruits, cinnamon and tonka bean. The amber in it acts as a base that holds everything within it keeping it all in harmony. As a gourmand frangrace Ambre Eccentrico is in league of its own it does not smell like anything else to me. Adjectives I would use to describe Ambre Eccentrico are sweet, thick, comforting, delicious and smooth. Ambre Eccentrico in my opinion has the best kind of projection when you wear it, it’s like you’re in a bubble of your own surrounding you from everywhere once someone enters that bubble they will for sure smell you. Longevity is also excellent I get about 10 to 11 hours.
Ambre Eccentrico is the best fragrance in the Armani Prive line in my opinion I love that we have a fragrance like it in this world.

    Accogliente,notturna e lineare.
    Adatta nei mesi freddi,
    su una donna
    sicura di se’.
    Molto particolare,di lunga durata .
    Forte presenza, di qualita’.
personalmente vedo piu adatto un formato tipo 30 ml.
    Ad alcuni puo risultare stucchevole.
    Non e’ un acquisto cieco.

The smell reminds me of a candy that i used to eat as a child. This may sound like i bad thing but i actually love the smell. The only downside is the projection as it stays VERY close to the skin in my experience. If i where to describe this perfume i would say that its an easy to wear perfume. I whould be very surprised if someone found this perfume offensive.
My absolute favourite from the Armani Prive line.

    Projection: 3/10

Armani/Privé Ambre Eccentrico is so gorgeous and balmy and warm and comforting, and deliciously sweet. It’s smooth, creamy and rich, deep and has a lovely herby earthy richness which is long lasting and I get so many compliments!! I get stopped in the street! People have told me they’ve never smelt anything so gorgeous! I love it. The fruit is divine, it’s like a rich fruit cake, with lovely earthy seasoning!!! It’s one of my absolutely favourite perfumes!!! Really beautiful!!!

Very sweet dried fruits and spicy cinnamon. Its very similar to the Fève Délicieuse which is better.
This leans very much to the feminine side.

Well this was a bit of a letdown. Unfortunately this is mostly Iso E Super mixed with a bit of amber, labdanum, and and some sweet stewed fruits. It never developed any richness or spice, it was a weak minded amber for an hour or two and then the really disappointing ‘wood’ base appeared–all iso e super dryer sheet–that part was loud and clear. This also happened to me when I tested their “Rose Alexandrie” perfume, so I think this is how they load up a majority of their perfumes. It’s almost insulting, considering how expensive Armani’s perfumes are.

Very comfortable and wearable, this composition is an elegant, sweet and creamy gourmand in which tonka bean, vanilla and benzoin play the main roles. I think I wouldn’t have used the word amber in it’s name, it is a sweet warm oriental indeed but I find it stands far away from the usual spectrum which amber centred perfumes cover. I just think the name is misleading, it isn’t an amber and it isn’t excentric, I expected something really challenging before I tested it, but it isn’t, in fact I think this one could be a well valued and respected crowd pleaser if it just had a different price tag.
I can feel the cinnamon and fruits, an inoffensive soft patchouli and a subtle suede/leather note in the drydown, but all of these notes are just a chorus for the main tonka vanilla benzoin trio. I agree this perfume is quite linear, but it is the appearance of suede/leather note in the evolution makes me really love it, it gives body and a chic end to the blend. The over all effect is slightly powdery too, so to me it feels as a bit more feminine than unisex.
Sillage is good still polite, while longevity is very good.
As I wore it yesterday, I received a couple of compliments, back home at night my significant other mentioned I smelled as my own skin under the sun after a delicious holiday breakfast.

    Mysterious, Unique, Delicious
I romanticized about getting this for a while and what a marvel it turned out to be. A considered purchase, but, when I tested it – from the first hit, to dry down.. I just had to buy it. It is so gorgeous. The ingredients, especially the Tonka Bean, smells raw and pure. It then opens up to a flutter of Vanilla and Amber, which continues to radiate. When I hold my wrist up to my nose, it smells rich, but not in a heavy way – it smells layered with the different ingredients, creamy and smooth at the same time. Just luxurious. Sillage and longevity are very, very, good and if a guy wore this, it would be irresistible!
I would say this is an Autumn/Winter/Early Spring fragrance – for the cold, and perhaps most enjoyed at night (although I have equally enjoyed wearing it on a sunny, cold day). Whatever works for you I’d say. An expensive purchase indeed but I intend to do it again!
    Thank you Armani Prive!

The composition is somewhat linear, having no true top or base notes. It instead shoots straight for the heart. A rich, warm amber dominates the tone of the fragrance, but is intermingled with a variety of interesting accompanying notes. There is a dried fruit accord which includes nuances of peach and prune (thanks to the new synthetic prunol note) which dances with spicy cinnamon. A creamy vanilla and tonka bean are also noticeable, adding further to the gourmand qualities of the scent. Here the amber takes on a whipped texture, and is rather light and airy. Subtle facets of cistus, patchouli and leather add weight to what could have been an ultra sweet and syrupy affair, while benzoin imbues a little incense into the spectrum. Overall the fragrance is warm and enveloping.
‘Ambre Eccentrico’ will no doubt please fans of the Armani / Privé line of fragrances, as it carries the essential amber-incense DNA the house loves to utilize. For me, the fragrance was a little too sweet and gourmand for my tastes. It is no doubt a beautiful composition nonetheless. Categorized as a unisex fragrance, I found it to lean more feminine in tone, in part due to the sweet stone fruit accord of peach and prune. ‘Ambre Eccentrico’ would be exceptional in fall and winter, as the fragrance definitely warms the spirit. Sillage/projection and longevity feel average. I’m anxiously awaiting what is next to come from the inventive house of Armani / Privé.

This is a tame and rather lame Kenzo Elephant. On spraying I immediately recognised the scent. Christmassy and spicy. This is very similar, no clove, but a whole heap of vanilla, cinnamon and amber. It is like the backbone of Elephant. It is a so-so amber, very sweet. No body or oomph though. Come on Armani, what happened to your mojo?!

Mm, I was eager to get to this and I eventually did at Selfridges, where there was barely a squirt left in their (well worn) bottle!
On itial application I was a bit shocked and disappointed actually. The note list spelled out the next big Winner but the 1st pool on my skin was a meek, watery ten times dilution of I think tonka bean.
Some very diluted, barely-sweet velvety textured aroma; it’s very much like dropping a rose petal, 1 drop of full cream milk/vanilla and 1 tutti-frutti Jelly Belly bean in a large glass of warm water and inhaling.
I think I’ll definitely need to retest it when they have a new bottle in, hopefully.
But what I could detect seemed pleasant, fruity but I think the main problem will be the strength in this.
Edit (February 2016) – My fears (or rather not as I have already established findings of popular Niche staples) for this scent were confirmed as it indeed on a 2nd testing come off with the same, watery-almondy prune dilute.
Very strange in it being so ‘airy watery’, devoid of any boldness or richness yet containing amber and cinnamon.
Basically, the polar opposite of what you would perceive an Amouage to be doing if they used the same note-pool and in this case I think the Amouage would have done it far more convincingly!
    My rating: 4/10.
    Scent Quality: 6/10.

Finally got my nose on it, I have to be honest I am not wow-ed by it. One has to really like Tonka’s prominence to enjoy this. I don’t get as much an ambre note from this and plum seems to be more of a supporting note for the tonka.
For a good plum scent, I would stick to Atelier Cologne’s Gold Leather. And for a good ambre scent, Armani’s own Ambre Orient and Ambre Soie are much much better contenders – or even Annick Goutal’s Ambre Fetiche, SL’s Ambre Sultan or TF’s Sahara Noir for non-discontinued scents.
For completeness, I have to declare I don’t do well with Tonka (and can’t stand Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme)…
Hard to justify at these prices especially if you are not fond of Tonka or are just ambivalent towards it.

The Armani Prive product specialist at Neiman’s allowed me to smell this on his wrist the other day and I really liked it. Was somewhat lighter than my other Armani Prive faves (Myrrhe Impériale, Oud Royal, Encens Satin), but also seemed to offer an interesting complexity and paradoxical notes, perhaps giving it the Eccentrico label? Not sure when it will be available in the US but I’d like to buy it.

Today my bottle of Armani Privé Eccentrico finally arrived and I was eager to smell in on my skin. After the first few minutes it is almost narcotic! the heavy notes of amber, tonkabean and prunol molecules (what ever that is) are well balanced and make up a spectacular mixture. Its like nothing I ve ever smelled before and considering my vast collection of perfumes, that sure means something. Although Im a little upset that Ambre Orient is no longer produced, this scent is a worthy replacement with a whole new world of olfactory experience.
Calice Becker really is a true master and once again the created fragrance is a seductive and sensual composition with a lot of oriental spices, amber and dried fruits.
The dry down reveals tons of Amber and Cinnamon, creating a mystical aura without being too strong or intrusive. On my skin it lasts two days, making this fragrance a very long lasting scent. Be careful with how much you apply. One spritz is more than enough to draw the attention of the people standing around you.
In conclusion I recommend this perfume to all amber lovers and people with a weakness for sensual and intense perfumes like ambre sultan by lutens. The bottle is simple but elegant and the composition reveals a astonishing diversity, developing within hours.
10/10 Points with a golden Star!

I was lucky today and could get my hands on a bottle of this beautiful fragrance. What did I expect ? Ok, it is an Armani Privé scent. It is an amber. “Eccentrico” hooked me right away. But what would it finally be like on my skin ?
This amber scent is heavy in its sillage, after all, it is an oriental fragrance. What I noticed on first spritz were the spices that I was hoping for. Cinnamon for sure. Some cardamom. Vanilla, yesssss. Tonkabean, lots of. Sweet concoction, not for those who prefer dry or masculine scents. AE screams “woman” but I actually would love to smell it on a man, too.
I also own Armani´s dc “Ambre Soie” which is spice-laden, too but only medium sweet and rather dry in comparison. Whereas Ambre Soie is my gingerbread perfume, Ambre Eccentrico (a rather mild-tempered diva) might be my spice-cookie perfume. The vanilla very much reminds me of delicious cookies baking in the oven. After a while some of the labdanum shows up, this gives the scent a more serious air before drifting too much into the gourmand type. The plum note is noticeable but not overly foody, it reminds me of almonds.
    Nicely done.
If I compare the name to what I smell on my skin I must say that this scent (to me, at least) is not eccentric at all. Eccentric would have been difficult to wear (maybe like Amber Absolute, once made for the Tom Ford Private Blend line, or Profumum Roma´s Ambra Aurea). However, this scent has won me over nonetheless for its beauty. If you like slightly resinous but sweet and gourmandish scents along with some spices then this one might interest you. I am a big lover of amber scents and was looking for a different take on this scent family.
