Description

With a 60-year-long tradition, Ajmal presents a very special and luxurious Signature collection which includes three extraordinary fragrances based on wood: Amber Wood, Hatkora Wood and Santal Wood. The name of the collection is W Series and it provides three niche compositions as additions to the current rich offer of the house of Ajmal, which will provide top quality raw ingredients to customers in the Middle East. Amber, Hatkora lemon and sandalwood can be found in the ingredients of the three new perfumes and they originate from the countries best for their origin, ensuring additional value for fragrance connoisseurs.

“We are proudly presenting the W series to all fans of Ajmal. In accordance with time and growing needs of our customers, we initiated the Signature collection. It is a result of a blend of the best raw material used in developing new fragrances. Our Signature collection is testament of our constant research and innovations regarding ensuring the best and high quality fragrances for our clients,” stated Abdulla Ajmal, CEO of Ajmal Perfumes!

Fragrance Amber Wood is a true masterpiece based on extraordinary shades of amber. It is built around juicy fruit and spices, accentuating apple, white pepper, lavender and cardamom, leading us to the warm heart composed of woody-powdery notes of orris and cedar wood. The base of the composition is formed of hot shades of amber wood and patchouli.

The fragrances will be available on the market starting from June 2014, as 100 ml Eau de Parfum in black flacons with name tags in gold color.

Ajmal Amber Wood, while released by the UAE-based house in 2014, seems to be getting a lot of buzz currently, and for that reason, I picked up a decant.
It’s immediately pleasing, a cold-weather-leaning mix of amber, woods, patchouli, and iris, with subtle hints of apple and lavender fading quickly into the main blend.
Amber Wood reminds me immediately of Mugler A*Men Pure Malt, but just a bit more powdery and sharp via the inclusion of iris, but the amber and wood with patchouli in Amber Wood more or less recreate the base of coffee and patchouli mixed with the booze in Pure Malt.
Performance is great, well above average in terms of both projection and longevity, especially the former, since it seems to project well off of skin for 4+ hours.
Retail pricing is higher, I imagine, but the best pricing I see for this is $140 on Finescents’ eBay store and $185 on MaxAroma for a standard 100ml bottle.
Overall, this is a nice perfume, one that I like a lot, but Pure Malt is reasonably close and done better, without the sharp, powdery edges that render Amber Wood a bit challenging.

Ok I have over 150 fragrances and a friend gave me this and I loved it immediately it gives you the Tom Ford quality package style and the quality bottle and the smell is just gorgeous!
Now the entire time I couldn’t figure out what I reminded me of but I knew I smelt it before and guys this smells not close to but the EXACT same as Angel Man Pure Malt!
Not a little bit like EXACT! I have right now this one left hand and PM on my right and they are exact but the performance of this one is way better than PM only cause PM was reformulated and doesn’t last at all anymore.
Very nice fragrance definitely going to check out what else this brand has now.

To my nose, it’s a fusion of Amber-y facets, lavender, warm cardamom and woods. It’s blended to perfection for those particular notes as nothing really stick out – it’s not your typical Amber, it’s not even your typical Ajmal or “middle-eastern”, it just IS, it’s hard to explain.

Amber Wood lays on like a silk scarf, the note are heavy, but it keeps this weightlessness to its performance which plays peek-a-boo for a whole entire day. The scent is linear as I’ve ever experienced, which is my single worry. When you actually smell it at the 12th hour, it’s the same smell as the first.. there’s this constant, persistent hum of Amber Wood throughout the day that gets kind of tiring, kinda of annoying, but I’m not one for linear scents.

Amber Wood is well liked, I’ve gotten two unsolicited compliments from people that never compliment me, and to note, they came at least 5 hours after applying. If you’ve done any kind of research on this, you would know it’s likened to smelling like Angelic by Boadecia the Victorious, it’s true, they are very, very, similar. Even down to the way they wear on my skin; long lasting, sheer, but persistent. To be honest, I still have my sights set on a bottle of Angelic; however, Amber Wood will fill that void for the foreseeable future !

Wonder why people say it’s similar to Acqua di Parma Ambra … They are entirely different perfumes . I brought my decant to Austria to check with Ambra and sprayed both next to next on my arms and I was hugely disappointed to smell Ambra ..but the sales girl standing next to me loved Amber wood a lot and she took the sprayer from me and sprayed on her uniform and said its the best perfume she has ever sniffed .

Drop dead gorgeous Oriental ambery beauty. The perfume is the stuff of opulent Arabian Nights dreams. The perfume has a brief opening where one can detect notes of apple, lavender, cardamom and pepper. The heart (also brief) is a woody orris and cedar. The perfume settles fast into a dense powdery base of amber, patchouli and sandalwood. The amber is pronounced, warm, and the perfume as a whole beautifully blended and very sophisticated. This fragrance can be classified as unisex (slight masculine leading) with moderate sillage and projection and very good longevity. Completely underrated and underappreciated, this one is truly worth seeking for amber and Oriental lovers. Enjoy!

This is a very pleasant sweet ambery scent slightly spicy for fall/winter, day and night. This is not a new smell for me. It reminds me various scents. Just to name two of them.
Adnan B. Ambre Noir  Boucheron Ambre D’Alexandrie
It has similarities from both of them. You can feel the quality, nothing synthetic here but I prefer the Hatkora Wood which has great versatility.
The sweet amber with here feels gourmand. It also has a vanillish character. Vanilla is not listed but I can feel it clearly. Quite simple scent but very pleasant. The main difference between Amber Wood and Adnan/Boucheron is the noticeable cardamom and lavender which makes it slightly different from them but still is a sweet unisex scent, almost a gourmand. If it was less sweet it would be a love for me. But now I just like it which means that it doesn’t worth a fb for the moment..
Performance is good. Long lasting with heavy sillage and moderate projection.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought it … mainly got it because there is NOTHING in the market that can match the scent right now … I have sniffed the entire Encre Line none of them matched the woody note this has ( i own 2 encres as well).
I have been running around to find a Clone for this one but SADLY ( now i can say HAPPILY)could not find anything which smells so unique!!
So any one who wants to copy you has to shell out the money !
This is one Perfume i will always keep with me.
The FRAGRANCE super duper amazing .
The bottle could have been better ..
Edit 2: Definitely has Rose & Vanilla !!
I will write more about this in few days .
Dry down is similar to 1 Million Prive just because both the perfumes are sweet !
EDIT : NO THIS DOES NOT SMELL LIKE PRIVE AT ALL … i mixed up 2 perfumes !

Amber Wood is difficult to describe.
It´s definitely multifaceted and long lasting.
I smell some popcorn in the beginning and bitter chocolate in the drydown.
But it seems only me. I asked 3 younger women <25 and all them said it smells like a business aroma. But they didn´t really like it, because it´s so strong.
Vanilla based amber with a huge dose of woody ISO E SUPER.
It´s not the best amber out there, but it´s also different. Nothing like Ambre 114, this Amber Wood smells more like a mixture of Amber and Oud.
Tested it at hot weather, it´s ok. But not refreshing. Might work better in colder atmosphere.
If you want to know how it smells, a DOVE Cream oil soap bar smells exactly like this fragrance.
I have spend my hard earned money on the whole set with showergel, bodybutter, hair perfume and so on.
When the whole set is used while and after the shower, the staying power is outperforming almost everything.
An sophisticated aroma made more for business than party.
Sillage at the first 2 hours is room filling with 2 sprays. Then it gets closer to the skin but still recognizable within 24 hours.
    Edit:
My favourite so far. I don´t know what, but something about this aroma gives me the feeling that this is the best fragrance ever.
    Masculine and extremely sexy.
Date fragrance. But no sex before marriage 😉
If she don´t like your fragrance, then let her go home.

the salesman sprayed this and santal wood on separate tester strips, and i’ve found that i’m not a big fan of santal but this: this smells like Saudi Arabia, like a sophisticated Saudi Arabian gentleman (or prince for that matter) I will definitely buy this in the future. This is what amber smells like in its purest form.

Your slumbery stupor wears thin as you find yourself nestled in warm herbal embrace of a monolithic tree. Still dull from what felt like a lifelong slumber, you begin to drink in the sensory feast that pulsates around you – the tree’s branches are as thick as bridges and the heartwood is as intricate and massive as a small city. A gentle breeze carries the scent of apples and lavender from some far off branch, or maybe from the earth which must be beneath the thick cloud cover several hundred feet below. Curiosity begins to crawl into your muddled thoughts…you are compelled to climb. You drive upward into the heavens – the higher you climb, the lighter you feel almost as if the the majestic tree is aiding you. Each layer of atmosphere brings new wonder to your journey – as you climb, pieces of the trees bark and sap cling to your body. Over time you become one with the majestic wonder as your skin soaks in the agarwood and cedar essences while the sun, high above the clouds, ignites the prickly aspect of the patchouli that grows in lush waves. You ascend into the heavens coated in the thick essence of the wondrous tree – the air is so thin up here that you can hardly breathe, yet everything is weightless. A freezing wind rocks your delicate perch as you look across the sea of clouds and the continents below. You lose your sense of self in the awe of what lies beneath – no longer restrained by worldly fears or frivolity…you simply are. The cheerful chirps of nearby birds rustle you from your slumber. You blink the sun out of your sleepy vision – it was just a dream, yet you still feel light and full of life. A new day begins.

Notes: So, this was a sort of impulse buy as it isn’t readily available in the US (that I can find) and I know of nowhere that allows one to test it. I know Ajmal is a decent brand and I was intrigued by the positive reviews the high end line was receiving. I saw this in an auction and went for it – I am definitely not disappointed! I need to state that this fume consistently lasts 18 to 24 hours on my skin and usually outlasts a shower! The opening is a sweet and tart apple with just a touch of herbal lavender, but this is brief as the heart of prickly wood and patchouli dominates completely after a few minutes. The wood note is quite intense and can be off putting of you can’t handle agarwood and patchouli – I have received mixed feedback, but I personally love it so I won’t stop wearing it! After a good 12 to 14 hours, the prickly wood note begins to fade and a warm, dry amber begins to shine through. It essentially remains a mix of the woods and a dry amber until it quiets to nothingness. Truly beautiful and magical if you favor these notes!

Very sweet balsamic and ambery fruity scent that dries down to a sweet woody base. The wood is peppery and a bit oud smoky. Very soft oud, not the barnyard type but spicy peppery.
I bought it during my visit in Dubai, after a night of sniffing the test card the salesperson gave me. It lingers on you and in my opinion, will be a perfect representation of what “Dubai” would smells like, but that is just my very subjective view.
Sillage is good but as I live in the humid tropical country the longevity, it doesn’t linger that long albeit it stays very close to the skin. It doesn’t project heavily after a while and become very soft vanilla. Sweet wood would be the perfect word to describe this.
Very lovely and round fragrance. Another winner from Ajmal in my opinion.

Reminds me of Paco Black XS without the fruity note that people talk about.. and for that reason it is a more mature and tailored version of Black XS. This is a damp, slightly thick and sweet masculine fragrance. It did not have the same lasting power on me as for others but when it lasted it did project well. This is the best in their line of ‘Woods’ ..they also have a ‘Rose Wood’ which also is a great albeit more unisex scent.

I agree with the previous reviewer that the lasting power on this is simply amazing. Going on 24 hours right now. My nose gets a slight resemblance to Amouge Jubilation in the initial stages but then the drydown comes and it morphs into a somewhat complex scent. Definitely Amber throughout but I can pick up the patchouli and sandalwood in the background. This is really a five star fragrance IMHO. I have not been disappointed with Ajmal yet. Great stuff!
