Description
Ferrari expands the ESSENCE COLLECTION with a new, amber-inspired edition. Amber Essence Special Edition arrives as a luxurious limited edition presented exclusively at Harrods, announced as a ‘sophisticated version of precious chord of amber decorated with cashmere and patchouli’.
Composition of Ferrari Amber Essence is based on amber chords combined with softness and warmth of cashmere, deep earthy tones, delicately spiced with nutmeg.
The fragrance arrives in elegant flacon of the same form as the editions of Essence Les Eaux. Body bottle is made of transparent glass and corned with a metal cap with a leather detail. The detail on the stopper repeats the leather color of its luxurious outer carton. Silver color details on the bottle and outer carton contribute to the sophisticated contrast of the new special edition. Color of liquid is inspired by amber shade and the fragrance can be found as 100ml Eau de Parfum.
Amber Essence was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is Pierre-Constantin Guéros.

When I think about what amber is, I think about ancient fossilized insects preserved in hardened gold-orange tree sap, possibly thousands of years old. Now take that hunk of wonder and grind it up into a powder and infuse it in a liquid and spray it on your body. That is what I expect unadulterated amber to smell like – dry (certainly not sweet), airy, old (not “old-man”, but old in the chronological sense – not newly created), natural-feral without being animalic, and certainly not synthetic.
For me, Ferrari’s Amber Essence embodies this olfactory image perfectly. It is all these – dry, basic, natural. I find it to be rather linear, not developing much. Like many others commenting on amber fragrances, the opening is noticeable, but then quickly fades for a while – as though hiding – but then comes back to say, “I’ve decided to stay”. I didn’t find this to project loudly, but longevity was excellent.
For amber lovers, this would seem like a safe, even desirable blind buy if looking for a non-sweet, rather linear amber, with perhaps a bit of spice that slightly tingles the back of your throat, and you end up wondering if it is nutmeg/patchouli, or the ground-up insect. As for me, I think I will use the rest of my sample to play with some layering.

super rich powerful dry amber. smells very expensive but you would really have to be an amber fan to appreciate this because i struggle to in a warmer climate. strictly a cold weather scent.
presentation is unbelievable with genuine leather sleeve for the bottle and a leatherette outer box in addition to the already classy bottle the essence series come in with the super heavy cap with genuine leather wrap detail.
not a blind buy

Anyone knows the difference between this and the 2016 version of Amber Essence (brown bottle)?

Upon initial spray it’s a little harsh and cheap smelling, but after 15minutes it settles down to a warm amber scent with the prominence of nutmeg. The nutmeg giving it a spicy vibe. As time goes on it develops its woodiness too. After that it’s a linear scent, but with the minimalistic amount of notes it’s to be expected. All in all it’s very pleasant, but kinda nothing special. I have a 100ml bottle that will last me a lifetime.
It’s only problem for me is strength. It’s light and projection on my skin is not good. I’m not regretting the blind buy, but I wouldn’t buy again.
And weird as it may sound, after about an hour it reminds me of Boss Bottled Intense on my skin.

Wow, this stuff is really good. Ferrari have been knocking it out of the park lately. Also loving Man in red, Bright Neroli and Radiant Bergamot

The Essence series by Ferrari is by far it’s best since the original Ferrari Black.
Looking at the notes, Amber Essence seems to be doing well on paper to deliver a warm yet heavy winter smell.
We’ll see..
