Sage Machado AMBER & CARNELIAN combines two of this house’s perfume oils into a mixture in which, to my nose, the CARNELIAN really dominates. The AMBER half really fades into the background, perhaps in part because amber so often plays the role of a base in perfume. So it may be that the nose attends to the other elements instead?
In this case, the fruitiness is quite marked. I wasn’t sure which fruits, although citrus did seem to be an important component, but according to the notes it’s the tangerine and papaya which have utterly transformed AMBER into a completely different perfume.
This would be a mix for those who find the Sage straight-up AMBER too boring, provided that they like a marked citrus fruitiness. I think that I prefer the amber unadorned. There is something about the fruits here that seems too high-pitched.
