This scent brings to mind the imagery of a sauna beside a chlorinated pool. The steam carries a warm woody scent that cuts through the ‘chemical’ facet of it. It sounds strange, but it results in an intriguing, comforting and addictive scent
vlad-ktd – :
Tried this today from a tiny non spray sample. I was highly disappointed because I didnt get any amber or aoud. All I could smell was a confusing mess of notes that had no character. I got this weird turnip like smell. Wouldnt recommend anyone to blind buy this.
dnepr_plant – :
Great release, but as of today, ive recently had the chance to take a look at the current house of Alexandria lineup of scents, and was blown away by the softness and much easier to wear scent, burj Khalifa is outstanding.
katusha37 – :
Qualitywise, the same as Aoud which is poor for its price range. At 500+ euros I expect at least lots of natural oils in the fragrance. Due to IFRA rules natural fragrances cannot be produced in europe. So if you really want quality frgarances, look for natural fragrances instead of the ones with high pricetags and fancy bottles and packaging.
Bashibuzuck – :
An interesting Oriental chypre with high quality ingredients. The perfume opens with notes of bergamot, lemon and lime before proceeding to a brief heart consisting of jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang and fig. The perfume finally settles into a dense powdery base comprised of oud, birch, cinnamon, oakmoss, patchouli, saffron, sandalwood, ambergris, civet, musk and orris. An arresting blend of Eastern ingredients with western perfumery sensibilities. Unisex with moderate to strong sillage, projection and good longevity. It’s nice and well blended but very overhyped and more pricey than it needs to be. Enjoy!
ekingppp – :
This is very luxurious, charming, rich and high quality scent. It smells like some delicious candy with rose. Have no words. So fantastic. If you wear this perfume, you’ll be the best smelling person and everyone will ask you what are you wearing.
ZoHaN41291 – :
One of my favourite from Roja Dove and one of the best ambergris fragrances on the market. It oozes quality and fine natural ingredients like most Roja Dove fragrances. I don’t get much oud from this though. Despite the price tag, it is worth every penny. I easily get 24 hour longevity from this, but it is not overpowering or offensive in any way. Definitely one for special occasions.
ulaula – :
The quality of Amber Aoud is second to none. I personally don’t smell any oud in Amber Aoud, nor do I smell any amber. That’s ok, because this stuff is still great. Intensely romantic. At times it can have a slightly rubber tinge – I suspect the saffron causes that – but on the overall still a great fragrance. This fragrance’s Achilles’ heel is its performance. It starts with good projection that quickly gets quieter & quieter with time, and really doesn’t last long/ maybe around the 4 hour mark. For better longevity wear on clothing.
вносипков – :
My nose missed the citrus top notes. My first impression was strong but really well rounded florals – rose, ylang, jasmine, maybe some others too. Nice opening.
As it dries down, wow… what a smooth rose/oud. So much less harsh than the majority out there. It seems to lack the annoying large-moleculed annoyances of others in the genre, such as Guerlain’s Santal Royal, Dior’s Oud Isaphan, the Montales, and countless others.
I get a Tom Ford Noir de Noir vibe, but somehow more smooth (didn’t think that was possible, because Noir de Noir is exquisite).
The price is really high, but i you’re into this note profile, definitely worth a try. Just gorgeous blend – not a misplaced note to be found.
LOVE IT!
farikes – :
Meh? No argument about the quality of the juice and the blending and yadda yadda, but for however nice this is, I’m sorry but Bond No 9’s NY Amber is pretty close with slightly more petroleum, and Jo malone’s Velvet Rose and Oud is just as refined, maybe a touch sweeter and projects and lasts just as well, maybe better (VR&O is probably Jo malone’s best performing frag).
You could buy both at full retail, full size, for the price of this.
Projection: 6-7.5/10 it tames down fast after the first hour to a 4/10 though.
Sillage: 8/10 leaves a nice train in your wake for a little while.
Longevity: 7/10 I get 7 hours max.
Scent: 8.5/10 it gets there in style but slightly shallow.
Would I buy a bottle? I can’t say yes. As mentioned, I can get NY amber and Velvet Rose and Oud at full retail for the same price and they both scratch that itch in different ways so, probably not, no.

The quality in this is beyond belief. I remember when I first got into the fragrance hobby thinking, “I hope I can own a Roja Dove some day.”, 2 years later and I have a modest 3 bottles from Roja. Amber Aoud is one of them and back then I would never have dreamed fragrances could be this high quality. Rose, oud, and amber dominate this scent. This is a scent for special occasions. When you want to guarantee you will be the best smelling person in the room, wear this.
aphony35 – :
I bought a sample of this because I was curious about the house. When I was waiting on my sample to arrive, I got to looking at the prices and yowza…total wallet breakers! I mean, I own some “wallet breakers” myself but Roja takes it on another level. I’m almost ashamed to say that I was hoping I would hate this because of the price. Fuck me running, Roja Dove, I love it! Dammit!
I get hint of astringency in the opening, due to the citrus top notes. It doesn’t last long though, at least on me. I start getting wafts of rose, oud and amber; I can smell nuances of saffron and woods laced with cinnamon. It’s warm and definitely smells Arabic. It’s not a dry, desert oud but more of a savory oud. On me, I don’t get much sweetness, maybe just a hint after it’s dried. I found the longevity and sillage amazing too. Is it worth the price tag? Maybe, maybe not. I guess it depends on what makes you happy. For me, I’m in love with this smooth, regal oud/rose combo.

Is performance issue real or people just complaining?
AndSid85 – :
While I have a love/hate relationship with Amber Aoud, it will most likely go down as a classic fragrance decades from now. It is a high quality blend of the finest ingredients available. It starts off way too rosy for my tastes, mixed with tart citrus. As it settles on the skin is when it turns highly wearable and different.
The birch Roja Dove is famous for comes out to the fore, to inject its smoky nature to this combo. This is not a birch you find in lower quality scents, where they veer too smoky or camphorous, this birch has a smooth smoky and woody quality to it. It whips the other notes into submission and balances out the fragrance from being too rosy or jammy sweet.
The dry down evokes soft rose petals sitting amongst birch with a cinnamon flecked, slightly salty ambergris (the real deal). Oud might be here to power the base, and one might think the smokiness is from the oud, but it’s not. I really don’t detect any oud in here except maybe an abstract woodiness.
I would rate it a 7.5-8/10, for others it willl probably be a lot higher. Some days I love this fragrance and other days I really don’t care for it, until the drydown hits. This fragrance tends to be complex which is a plus.
marksoy – :
A VERY sweet, sickening sweet jammy rose scent with oud and ambergris. This reminds me and is in the family of Ex Idolo Thirty-Three and Armani Prive Rose d’Arabie. Strong and long lasting. Overpriced. Love it but not enough to drop that money. I own three full bottles of Roja Dove. They are lovely but not affordable. It gets a little drier in the base as the sandalwood makes itself present.
rex999 – :
Been wearing it for clubbing and at night and have received amazing compliments from women such as: “It smells amazing” or “it smells like candy”. Had one girl try to eat my neck once.
This has the greatest dry down I’ve experienced and it makes me feel confident, classy and sophisticated after wearing it.
Please note that the opening is 100% different that the dry down. First-hour I’d rate it an 8.5/10. When the dry down comes after the first hour this is easily the best smelling, most iconic unique smell ever 10/10.
I recommend wearing this not just on special occasions but also on dates and especially at night to truly get the most out of this juice. I truly believe this is not only a hidden gem but also a masterpiece in a category of its own.

This smells goooooooooood! I hate the price tag. Actually I despise the pricing it is completely ludicrous. Yet I have purchased 100ml (crystal version) and I cant stop smelling my self. No hyperbole just fact. Ok maybe not fact butin my opinion this is one of the finest smelling fragrance I have put my nose to.
vikulik – :
This has a very luxurious vibe, you can feel the exquisite ingredients. It has a slight gourmand feel probably from the saffron and the rose & oud combo is blended to perfection here. I also get a bit of a red wine tinge and there’s also a bit of birch which pops up from the background and illuminates the composition.
Overall this is not your everyday fragrance, it’s one of the most expensive and exquisite fragrances in the world and should be use on special occasions when you want to smell the best.
LIUCIK – :
Scent – light sweet musky amber.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one all year round, day or night.
Projection – I did get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
Longevity – I get 8hrs consistently.
nataliakuz2011 – :
Delightful and unique way in perfumery to start a dificult and astringent chord of oud, ambergris and rose. Like no perfume that I could test. Then begin to shine the saffron and soft ambered texture. Starts very promising, but then the initial strenght goes down and ruins, in my opinion, a perfect smell; an “unstable-stabilized” perfection of oud. Perfume turns into an ambered soft common base mixed with saffron that we all have seen before, and we can get of many other perfumes in a cheaper range of prices. I can see clear references to Red Aoud of montale. Worth the price? Sample yes. Full Bottle.. I don´t think so..
UPDATE:
Like I said,an awesome start. And after a lot of wearings, no doubt about its quality, subtlety, and the way you can smell all the different ingredients. Although there are similar offerings, are so far from the Amber aoud´s quality. Worth the price? I don´t know, but finally I have to say there is a big difference between this juice and many others in the market that smell almost the same.
Jekz – :
It Starts with Smell of Rose, Oudh & Amber Notes with Little Soft Citrus Notes and later slowly tends towards Musky Notes. All Notes are Perfectly Blended. This Perfumes sounds like Most High Class Arabic Perfume instead of French Perfume. Key Notes are: Oudh, Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Casmir Wood, Nutmeg and Saffron.
This Perfume can be Worn Comfortable by Both Sexes. This is a Strong Scent and gives a Luxurious Feelings, Can use it as Parties or Occasions. Price is V High for Perfume as its Roja Perfumes. Bottle & Presentation is too Good 10 out of 10 & Sprayer pours out Decent Amount of juice
My Rating is 3.5 out of 5
ikarpov2 – :
Should be called Rose Aoud; Don’t get any amber out of this. That being said , this is not montale’s kind of harsh rose-oud combo.. This is another level, I mean master’s level; It doesn’t get better than this. Whether you think Roja’s fragrances are overpriced or not there is one thing we gonna be ok on here, This is an amazingly natural, Regal, smooth and great performing scent. Matter of fact there is no way my fragrance journey would be complete if i don’t acquire this masterpiece. Luxury through and through.
10/10 for me, easy.

The Graal of niche perfumery! Every collector want a piece of it.
Kopcap – :
This is, for me this is the epitome of niche perfumery.
Boozy, decadent and screams snobbery. A killer! Perfect if you happen to get dragged into a country club evening event.
I have a 3ml decant which I will only use in very special occasions.
Crorsonoemege – :
Seemingly one of Roja Dove’s most consensus celebrated fragrances of late, Amber Aoud is a lovely blend of oud, rose, patchouli, and sandalwood (mainly, to my nose) that again puts Roja in the danger zone of ascribing a name to a fragrance that isn’t quite on point, as the amber in this is not one of the most dominant notes to my nose.
Rather, Amber Aoud comes off far more as an offshoot of a rose/oud pairing that we’re so accustomed to seeing, but to Roja’s credit, this is somewhat of a departure from the usual blend; it’s more complex, more intriguing, though I have a difficult time detecting most of the notes in the breakdown apart from the abovementioned few.
It’s decidedly unisex, leaning feminine not from the rose but one of the other ingredients, perhaps the saffron or (presumably simulated) civet, though I’ve heard the latter smells fecal rather than pretty, so I’m left simply guessing, but the smell I get is something along the cosmetics/lipstick smell so often linked to Dior Homme Intense or Chanel Coromandel (or less famously, Tom Ford Arabian Wood).
Performance is very strong, as expected, but for this Roja Dove price, it’s difficult to stomach, at $795 for 100ml or $480 for 30ml retail. Still, an interesting try.

this makes me very happy. i’ve never smelled a cologne every 2 minutes and just laughed out loud overtime. it genuinely got me giddy. that said – i’m new to Oud and Amber although I do have 4 other high-end Amber/Oud scents and none of them knock my socks off quite like this. its heavenly, regal, majestic and intoxicating
xrumeraz – :
For me it is the best ever smell I had. When I smelled it it was wooooooow . Is it true there is such a smell that u imagine to be perfect but u didn’t know how it should smell!
After I tried it I left home and kept wondering what is it that smell that takes me out of the world to paradise ! Then I remembered the lady at the shop sprayed it over me.
Next time I bought it no matter what price is.
Nothing else can take me away to somewhere where I fly , smile , feel happy.
дима1987 – :
Nope. 1st spray yielded the dreaded band-aid. To my disbelief I was almost speechless in my anxious expectation for some sweetness to emerge, from maybe the amber or the special touted rose in here – but it was arguably worse on a second spray, with noticeable saffron and a smidgen of birch tar.
I’m sorry but price disregarding, this is still one of the worst Niche I’ve ever tested. But my reviews do take into account price pretty closely in fact if the juice is not socks-blowingly great – and this one is socks blowing awful.
There was no point in waiting for progression – if I had paid the £350 asking price for this blind and tested it, I would next be seen in the cardiac unit of the nearest hospital.
My rating: 2/10.
Scent quality: ?/10 – later drydown pointed to something very good, sweet rose and some amber, so a 9/10 for that.
Tested courtesy of Selfridges.
antoha27 – :
If I didn’t know any better, I’d say this came out of the same machine that makes the Clive Christian stuff. It’s your standard ostentatious rose / oud / saffron combo that’s so rich and overstuffed it feels like being force-fed truffles. The only noticeable difference from the slew of other scents in this style is that this one is spun a tad sweeter up top with a slight maltol-esque note, and there’s a slight smokiness tucked away in there as well. Aside from that, there’s nothing that makes this stand out from legions of other Orientalist compositions doing the same thing. Polished and competent, but redundant and blingy; it’s a gaudy aesthetic that would go well with massive gold jewelry and rhinestone-encrusted clothing.
Avery_fromAC – :
It starts off with a lovely high quality sensual oud aroma which is soon joined by a rose note. These opening notes are coupled with some citrus to give the scent a uplifting feel. At this stage it does smell very nice.
Underneath the plush and sensual fresh Oud accord I can detect some jasmine adding to the lovely overall effect but more in a supporting roll.
After a good while it becomes more complex with floral and other notes.
All in all a classy fresh posh and sensual oud fragance supported by a host of notes making you feel like a billionaire. Good stuff!
ira200181 – :
While wearing this scent the first thing that comes to mind is be very careful spraying over light color shirts cause you will stain them. Now ROJA came out with a cristal version of this to prevent this problem but the scent is much softer. This smells to me like a medicinal oud with a hint cherry tobacco and leather. Longevity its crazy and sillage is moderate. The bottle is amazing and the juice is definitely quality. But to me the lack of versatility and staining of shirts knocked out getting the full bottle.
tutumba – :
An astonishing complex and rich fragrance!
The scent opens with citric notes. Citrus flows almost immediately into woody-bloomy “underlay”. Then the scent softens gradually and smoothly into woody base. There, one can distinct sandalwood, musk, ambergis and a good amount of sweet oud. The whole fragrance (and especially the base) is very deep and saturated. This intensity and the well-designed sophistication startle all the time (the result of ingredient quality as well as the perfumer skills in my opinion).
This fragrance will truly please much more perfume lovers than oud “worshipers”.
Socol – :
I’ve been exposed to the finest Indian Aoud and incense since very young and have watched with interest how many perfumers tried to tame, emulate and encapsulate these scents. But none could translate it truly. None but Roja Dove. With his Extreme Aoud, Amber Aoud, and Musk Aoud he did to Aoud what Fitzgerald did to the Rubayiat: he captured the essence, the very soul, and reincarnated the original in a most poetic and most authentic fashion, with all the silk, all the velvet, all the imagery, not missing a single aspect, not a single note, not a single rhyme. His creations are amazing: I wouldn’t reach for any other Aoud but Roja’s.

review of darrshan
excellent scent by roja dove , best from his line
lovely amber rose saffron very rich perfume in all means very expensive but really outstanding .
a true luxury in all sense
sergey.homiakov – :
I’d say that this to me is much more a Rose Aoud than a properly Amber Aoud. It doesn’t have the thick, vanillic and incense aura that you would expect from a classic Amber approach, and it also doesn’t have the woody, light, sometimes plastic modern aura that you get from woody ambery bases. Leaving this aside, this is a good, silky and rich aoud and rose orchestration, surrounded by a velvet suedish touch which lingers discretly on skin. Altough the fragrance seems to be more complex, it relies basically around these three facets, creating an harmony which is very pleasant to be noticed all day. It has a great longevity, a small sample lasted all day on me, and while i see a lot of quality on here, it seems to me very safe, something made for the one which is willing to pay for quality and wants and oud rose orchestration which softens the rough aspects of this noble wood. It’s at least worth a sample.
Vusal – :
I was pretty unimpressed by this one. I love Roja Dove Aoud, so I had high hopes for Amber Aoud. The opening smells to me like concord grape jelly smeared on a slice of oud. The overwhelming sweetness dries down after about half an hour and it’s a very nice smooth oud, but I get no amber in this. Also, longevity on me was terrible, maybe 3 or 4 hours tops. My husband liked it, but was surprised when I told him it had oud in it.
jen4ik_pavlov – :
EDIT: A reminder to smell a parfum passed the top notes and take a day. This is not unique and with out walking around with your receipt of purchase and the bottle, it would never be guessed the price was so high.
Ajmal, Rasasi, Arabian Oud, …list goes on has better formulations, smoother and you don’t have to auction a kidney.
I found most of his perfumes resembled either Guerlain Samsara , Guerlain Nahema (but with out the appeal of Nahema)or Amouage Gold , Memoir For Men & even Amouage Fate (again with out the quality of the base of Amouage..
The creative direction of this series is more of a mimic of other perfumes but nothing new. I can say if that the original creations by Guerlain and Amouage smell more elegant and as high as there price tags are, they are still better formulated and less costly then Roja’s rhinestone bulky bottle series.
This one is exception only in comparision to the whole Roja Dove Collection. The other RD parfums seem to be copies of already established parfums past and present. One in the Collection was a candid copy of Amouage Fate Woman, Another Amouage Gold Woman. Ok coincidence maybe latter another Guerlain Samsara, then Nahema. Not very original creations. One would expect more from Roja Dove. More effort.
Top notes :A beautiful clean composition of opulent Amber Oud. A very luxurious scent.Surely. But There are parfums by Arabian oud of better composition at less then half the price.
Would it be worthy of the price tag with out Roja Dove name attached? Bottles seem a little tacky also with rhine stones attached all over them.
A disappointment such an established Parfumer resorted to unoriginal creations.
phu501speagoessenda – :
Yes, I do get the deep opulent citrus vibe like no other in the start and felt and sense that that the ylang ylang with Jasmine and honeyed amber over ruled the oud to a degree and the rose is definitely a star in the midst…very linear once opening is done with with afore mentioned notes being the stars and very linear from mids to base and consider this frag a special ocassion type of juice and should be experience at least once if you consider yourself a fume head and will give this juice a five out of five for its development from opening to base and it’s deep rich discreet oud dipped or better yet sautéed in a honey bee coat of Amber in a rose garden next to a nectar tree….very unisex and anyone could make it theirs…..just Gorgeous….btw 3 sprays and got 12 + hrs and became a skin scent about the 12hr but it definitely projected about 3-6 ft in 12 hr range and about 1/2 foot when it became a skin scent and still well felt next morning , a beast in reality if you ask me and worth the price if you can afford it or save up for it…it’s FBW …..Cheerios
blohinsa – :
A very Luxurious fragrance I will say that lasts for so long. I’ve got a decant of this and with only 4 sprays, I got like 10 hours if not more out of it.
gtrc65 – :
This fragrance is very nice, but its a traditional oud for almost £500, its not worth it. maybe if you are not custom to the smell of this type of warm musky oud you might find it unique. but for those from middle eastern backgrounds, you have smelt this many times before, some Mosques and Arab book/perfume shops smell similar to this fragrance, of course this is much much higher quality, you can definelty smell the quality of the ingredients , but its that type of traditional oud smell that you would smell often if you visited an Arab country. a disappointment for me I am afraid for the price, even though i like it, i was expecting a unique complex oud with an amazing amber dry down, but what i get is a light warm, spicy oud, its still a good fragrance smooth natural rosey oud, rich, non offensive and slightly sweet, it does capture the essence of the the Arab world but then again most ouds, musks and attars do, also another negative is that there are places that sell scents almost identical to this for under £50. overall its very nice, longevity is good 24+ hours, if not longer, but does not really merit the price tag, 7.5/10

I tried this one in Dubai at Paris Gallary.
What to say about this one? Its very rich, very
luxurious and super smooth.
This is what the genie of the magic lamp would
have given Alladin if he had asked for a perfume.
I saw three rich Arabs at Paris Gallary buying
this one. I didn’t understand a word but could
make out they were astonished by this perfume.
And until now I thought the best aoud could
come only from the Gulf. I think aoud can not
get better than this one. It’s so well blended.
If you are a lover of fragrances ( well you must
be or you would not be reading this ) you owe
it to yourself to try this one.
I tried several other aoud and aoud combo perfumes and
attars at Paris gallary and elsewhere at Dubai mall but
everything else looked pale in comparison.
Who can wear this and where? I think the sheer
opulence of this scent demands an occasion and
formal dress. Like it could look little ridiculous for a man
in jeans to wear this scent to a disco. But it all depends
on how you carry yourself. I have also enjoyed this one
at home on a holiday.
Roja Dove has taken the art of perfumery to a
new level where he remains the undisputed King.
And do visit Paris Gallary at Dubai mall. It’s like the
Alladin’s cave for a perfume lover and you can buy
with out worrying about fakes. I tried
many, many scents and postponed my buying.
Yet there were smiling faces and at the exit I had
dates with Arabic tea or khawa. Great Arabic
hospitality by the Paris Gallery people.
Thanks Roja Dove. I am buying this one.

A very clean oud with a smooth and well rounded amber. From the moment I sampled this fragrance, I knew that I would do what it took to obtain a bottle. Even if it meant saving and making this my #1 priority, I just had to have it. This fragrance smells of incredible and undeniable quality. If you have ever smelled Krigler “Oud for Highness” you would agree that these two share similar qualities being that the scent is so royal, rich, and luxurious. I am at a loss for words on how to accurately describe how divine this fragrance is. It can be purchased at Bergdoff Goodman or Osswald NYC and it comes in the extrait which is shown here for $655 for 100ml, $435 for 30ml, or it also comes in the Attar strength called Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux which cost $990 for 30ml. Good Luck Saving!
Without a doubt 10/10 rating in all categories.
