Ahh this is very nice 🙂 I like rose scents and this one is delicate and beautiful. This is probably my favourite rose scent alongside Roses de Chloe. This is a soft, kind hearted rose. Love it.

I am not a huge fan of Philosophy scents but this scent is the exception! I opened the box and couldn’t believe how incredible this perfume smelled. It’s floral and not so much rosy but light, airy and floral. It reminds me of Chloe.

This is the BEST philosphy of all. I am thrilled with this. My signature perfume is Chloe EDP and this smells very much like it. In fact, I use the shampoo and shower gel, lotion, and use the perfume as a spritz after shower and THEN apply a spray or two of Chloe edp and it is BEAUTIFUL together.
I have FOUND what I have been looking for after collecting over 150 scents. I can finally stop the search for the ONE. This and Chloe, my gig for sure.
In fact, I cannot believe there are negative reviews about this light and soft beauty. It smells the opposite of “cheap” and “air freshener” as indicted below. I hesitated on buying bc of the reviews for so long. I guess this goes to prove that scents affect all of us differently depending on our personal body chemistry. SO glad this is so perfect for me. I cannot get enough of it.
EDT: OK few days later and it is so perfect that I literally cannot believe I found this beauty. If you like Chloe EDT you will definitely love this. I have found that it works best if I use the body wash and lotion as well.

I got a sample of this and immediately adored it. Why ?According to my nose and memory It is very similar to my beloved ( and discontinued ) Dolce and Gabbana Rose the One, the same accord of roses, Lychee and peonies . Only the slight grapefruit isn’t here . But they are 90 percent the same , so yes, I think I will splurge and buy a bottle. It’s $60 plus tax for 60 ml ( in Canada ) , so not cheap but not expensive either. From my sample I got average to good silage and lasting power. Delightful clean, feminine and full of grace indeed.

I’ve never really liked rose fragrances, but lately I’ve smelled a few that I like. I really like this one. It’s pretty simple, I mostly smell rose. It’s not too sharp, green, or harsh. It’s got a hint of sweetness to it. It might be nicer if it had a bit of vanilla or more depth, but I like it for what it is.

It’s an immediate scrubber/washer for me! Contacted Philosophy to arrange a return!

I just received this fragrance from my subscription service. I have to say that on all the Amazing Grace fragrances from philosophy the musk is the most prevalent to me. I do not get any Rose fragrance from this at all which is great because I don’t like rose perfume. The reason I even selected this fragrance is because I went into a Sally Beauty Supply near my home and the woman wearing the perfume behind the counter smelled absolutely beautiful and I asked her what she was wearing and it was this scent. On my skin and on hers as well it smells exactly the same. I’m very pleased. There is nothing little girlish about this fragrance. To me it smells clean and fresh.. Starkly so! Yet it is very soft and not overpowering and just what I was looking for. I hate strong perfumes because I’m prone to getting headaches from them. If you want an everyday fragrance that’s good for anywhere you might possibly want to go this is the one to reach for time and again!

On skin: The first smell is EXACTLY like the roses in my childhood home. It’s delightful!
The dry down has two parts. The sillage smells exactly the same as the opening. Up close to my wrist, I smell roses and peonies separately.
Edit: Apparently this scented the entire house. My boyfriend liked it ok, but that’s too much sillage for me to wear every day.
Edit2: And yet, despite the sillage, I reach for it more often than any other scent except Santal Carmin and various close-but-not-quite musks. It’s my first bottle purchase!

It starts off as a fresh rose, then warms into a sugary gourmand rose. The dry down is a soft and elegant musk. Overall it’s very generic and pleasant. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it, but it is at a price point that is quite affordable. The longevity is moderate and sillage is about arm length.

Sometimes, I feel rose scents can go very wrong. Some major rose scents can smell like dead flowers or old potpourri to me. Ballet Rose is not one of these scents. Ballet Rose is lovely. It is a fresh and pretty rose scent that is perfect for the spring season as it is reminiscent of leaning downward to smell genuine roses. It’s not too musky on the dry-down. It stays very rose on my skin until it fades into a soft skin smell.

I tried this recently and was pleasantly surprised. I love rose fragrances but so few are just right. This is a lovely, fresh, ballet slipper pink rose, just right for spring and summer. It’s not too sweet and not too tart, not overdone in any way. I don’t think it lasts long unless you use some lotion for it to cling to. It would depend on your skin type. I want a bottle.
Adding May 4th – I caved and bought a set of this and Amazing Grace, 0.5 oz bottles in a set. Couldn’t really resist for summer. 🙂

Perfect for spring! Ballet Rose is a light and wet rose fragrance with peony and a bit of fruit. I much prefer this to Pure Grace Nude Rose. It actually smells like rose and has a juicy lychee note that keeps it from wandering into a matronly or powdery area that often drives away others from perfume in general. It’s like a refreshing rose cocktail. The musk and woods are almost like placeholders. They don’t add much but are there because they are supposed to be.
Ballet Rose is aptly named, as it captures the classic and pink idea of that style of graceful dance. But ballet is also very brutal, particularly on the feet and bodies of the people who practice it. So this fragrance is more like the concept of ballet, especially a class for young girls. To me, a perfume fitting of the name Ballet needs a little harshness to temper the softness it portrays.

This is slightly creamier and lighter, but it’s still so close to Roses de Chloe I can’t tell them apart on my own skin. If Roses de Chloe is out of budget, this is a great alternative, even if its lasting power on skin is weak. It doesn’t smell remotely like the original Amazing Grace, so rather than being a true “flanker”, this is an edition in the “brand” of Amazing Grace. I guess people don’t respond to fragrances with unestablished names anymore.

this is primarily peony and soft musk on me. i think my skin tends to amp up peony, and i don’t really enjoy it as a note, so this one isn’t a favorite. i love rose though, and wish my skin exhibited the rose more strongly. i smell some rose in the background but it doesn’t dominate. the litchi adds a synthetic sweetness. not really for me, but glad i got to try it.

I love litchi and white musk so this fragrance works for me !! I love the way it smells
The rose comes into play later and I am not so crazy about the base but overall this is lovely
I like it , it is feminine and pretty
The litchi gives it a juicy vibe then the musks add a touch of sweetness
The rose comes into play later and still to my nose this isn’t a rose scent per se
Ballet rose is a good name for it
The scent is pretty and tranquil plus it doesn’t make a huge statement either if you like over the top big scents this will be boring to you
To me I simply like it ! I don’t agree with the Vera wang comparison this is much better than the watery mess of Vera Wang

This fragrance is causing me great sadness at just this particular moment because…the opening is beauty and perfection. Juicy and musky litchi, gorgeous peony, delicate pink rose petals, hint of mild musk and clean wood. It’s all there, it’s all balanced, it’s everything I want. And then suddenly, mere minutes later…everything I wanted is gone and it becomes something slightly sour, slightly soapy, slightly present, and quite boring.
If it was cheaper I would still buy this, if only to reapply every 3 minutes and keep that initial impression alive. As it stands, though, I’ll just have to hope I come across an unwanted bottle one day that I can get on the cheap.

Vera Wang’s Embrace Rosebuds and Vanilla. I put the suggestion on Reminds me of.. and was downvoted.. Gotta help ppl not waste money ya know lol who am i to speak i wouldnt mind a bottle of this as well, as I LOVE this type of scent.. Theyre pretty much identical tho, maybe this one is lighter.
Update: way too light on my skin no sillage or strength, but Id say its the spring time version of the Vera Wang’s one which is deeper, richer with excellent lasting power. VW wins this one, sorry Philosophy.

I have such a love/hate relationship with Philosophy. Seems there is no middle ground/happy medium/meh product from them to me. Same with their skincare, I either absolutely love the product or it’s a hot mess for me. Being I am on a rose kick lately, I decided to sniff the little scratch and sniff that came with my Ulta catalogue. It was all I could do to wait until I could make it to Ulta to pick up a bottle of this. Real-deal-rose. Nothing synthetic here. A wee bit of woodiness in the background, and a wee bit of musk even further in the background. But a soft, almost vintage-type of rose is the star here. Moderate sillage and moderate longevity. Strong like, almost borderline love for me. I think if this had slightly better longevity, I would love this. But it does knock my socks off as is. Sprayer seems to spray such a fine mist that I do not think there is even any danger of spraying this too close or too heavy. But still, 3 or 4 spritzes is plenty for me. Always happy when the scratch and sniff card actually smells like the actual fragrance. I just wish they had this in a gift set of some sort with the holidays coming up; I think this would be lovely with a shower gel and/or body lotion. I think too this would be nice to test out for those wanting to venture into the world of rose scents. Not an overly heavy rose; this definitely makes it’s presence known, but also not a fading flower. Nicely done.

    (Formerly known as lyngbh)
I blindly purchased the .5 oz of this based on the reviews here. Yet again, I found it to be the most unreliable reason to purchase any fragrance.
Ballet Rose has a lovely. enticing name, but smells cheap and among the two worst rose scents I’ve ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Pure synthetic rose, cat urine, and a particularly unpleasant, funky note I can’t identify with a salty undertone. Luckily, in this case, it, for the most part, disappears within a half hour, but who really wants to smell like a sweaty person with cat pee on their clothes, who then sprays themselves with cheap rose scented air freshener to cover up the stench, for any length of time?
Feel free to peruse my wardrobe. You’ll see several really lovely rose fragrances in several price ranges. Among them you’ll find the extremely reasonably priced Tabu Rose with a very similar note pyramid. It’s app. the same price as this mini (I paid about $18 for TR directly from Amazon, not a marketplace seller.), except you’ll get over 3 oz. of a higher quality, and far more pleasant, rose in an unexpectedly attractive bottle.

Can Phillosophy ever figure out a way to make their beautiful fragrances last and project? I love the smell of most all Phillosophy fragrances but can’t break open my wallet to pay the for overpriced body spray formulation. 🙁

I found a new favorite. At first when spraying this, it is a blast of big, fat, Bulgarian roses (yes, Bulgarian although it’s called Ballet Rose) that settles way down to a soft floral woody musk. Decent longevity and soft sillage. Easily something that can be worn to work, school, theatre, etc. without any problems. Can be worn year round especially if you’re in a mild climate because its soft fragrance and an eau de toilette.
I don’t really see the relation between this and Amazing Grace, so I’m guessing that they’re just capitalizing off the name. Since I wear the fragrance and not the name, I really don’t care much what they call it. I just want people to know that if you’re expecting something along the lines of Amazing Grace but with rose, I really don’t find that to be the case. Judge this one on its own merit. It reminds me of Roses de Chloe on my skin, but others may pick up more peony on their skin. In the deep dry down, it has a similar “feel” as Marc Jacob’s Daisy Eau So Fresh.
Ulta is selling it exclusively right now besides the Philosophy website. The Philosophy website is out of stock at the time of this review (Aug 19, 2017) but you can get it off the Ulta website if you don’t have a store in your area. Reasonable price of $18 for .5 oz (15 ml) and $48 for the 2 oz (60ml)
Edit to add: Longevity is excellent. Put this on at 9am and still smell it a 5pm. That’s great for an eau de toilette. Not much projection outside of my immediate circle (2-3 feet), but that’s ok. For everyday, in an office setting, that’s perfect. People can still get whiffs, but it will intrigue them, not irritate. I just got the shampoo/shower gel so let’s see how much longer the scent could last.

Smells just like Vera Wang Rosebuds and vanilla. You can find Vera Wang at Marshalls or tjmaxx for $10 or less.

I love this! It is so very gentle and soft. Rose and musk and… vanilla… (it’s in there I just know it! :))
What a lovely smelling thing! Yay Philosophy you’ve caught my attention!

Ballet Rose is a very light fruity floral, perfect for summer time. It opens with a note of tart berries and leads to a pink-tinged heart phase dominated by the peony note. Rose is noticeable but in supporting role, at least on my skin. The dry down feels like a creamy, musky floral with a hint of pencil shavings. On me this perfume is a skin-scent that doesn’t project at all, even after I sprayed about 8 times on the same location. Though this manner of freshness is in line with Philosophy perfumes in general, I still wish it were a bit more prominent on my skin. It lasts about 3-4 hours before it fades away. It’s perfectly suitable for closed quarters such as office, school, movie theater, or church, etc. They’re selling it online at Ulta website at the moment.
