I have the original bottle as I was gifted the perfume around the time it first came out. The bottle is still three quarters full and I believe the last time I used this was over ten years ago as I had kept the bottle in my locker at work. Not sure if the scent I smell from the bottle is still the original but it smells very harsh with floral aldehydic and musky notes but that could be due to its age. Longevity around 6 hrs and sillage is moderate. Scent is similar to YSL Yvresse which I also have the original bottle. I didn’t think this perfume was still in production as I thought it has been discontinued so I don’t know what the newer batches smell like.

I really appreciate everyone’s honesty on this site…
Someone left an atrociously negative review below, describing this perfume as they saw (smelled) it. I’m buying it blind based on her description because it sounds like I will absolutely love it lol
Keep being honest my fragrant friends!

I had no idea what to expect, but the sour-ish yet sweet and slightly powdery undertones still managed to surprise me. The florals are soft, white, and pleasant. The undertone… I still have no idea what it is.

I thought it was older than 1999. I like it because it is soft and long wearing. I would not call it sweet maybe a sweet musky? I did buy the lotion and it was horrible and not at all the same smell as the perfume. It is perfect for daytime.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T QUITE ENJOY THE AROMA OF AMAZING FRAGRANCE BY BILL BLASS. I WANT YOU ALL TO NOTE THIS… I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND THAT THERE EVIDENTLY ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT VERSIONS OUT THERE OF THIS PERFUME. OVER ON OVERSTOCK.COM YOU WILL READ TWO DIFFERENT DESCRIPTIONS OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PRODUCT. OH, BUT THEY’RE NOT THE SAME. AND THEY’RE NOT SELLING THE CORRECT ONE, NO MATTER WHICH ONE YOU CHOOSE, IT’S NOT THE TRUE AMAZING!
IF YOU WANT THE TRUE VERSION OF THIS ENCHANTING, INTOXICATING PERFUME, YOU NEED TO ORDER IT FROM LUXURYPERFUME.COM.
THAT’S WHERE I PURCHASED MY LATEST BATCH AND I HOPE IT’S STILL THE SAME VERSION THAT THEY’RE SELLING TODAY. ONLY A FEW MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED IT. ITS NOTES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
FEATURES A BLEND OF MANDARIN ORANGE, PEACH, TUBEROSE, WATER LILY, LILY-OF-THE-VALLEY, MIMOSE, SANDALWOOD AND MUSK. ANYTHING ELSE IS SOMETHING ELSE, AS WAS THE CASE WHEN I ORDERED IT FROM OVERSTOCK. IT WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
I STILL LIKED WHAT THEY SOLD ME, BUT IT WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OR CORRECT VERSION OF AMAZING BY BILL BLASS. THE ORIGINAL IS HARD TO FIND, SO GIVE LUXURYPERFUME A TRY. AND DON’T BUY IT FROM FRAGRANCENET.COM EITHER BECAUSE IT’S THE SAME STUFF THAT OVERSTOCK.COM SELLS, AGAIN, NOT THE RIGHT STUFF. ALSO, THE CONTAINERS FOR THE REAL STUFF I PURCHASED, THE GOLD RING ON THE BOX IS A MUTED GOLD UNLIKE THE OTHERS THAT WERE A REALLY BRIGHT GOLD STRIP ON THE BOXES. THE REAL ONE HAS A ‘DULL’ STRIP OF GOLD ON THE CONTAINER BOX.
I HOPE THIS HELPS TO CLEAR THINGS UP SOMEWHAT.

Amazing . . . it’s hard to believe the name when you first smell this one.
My initial reaction was, “What the heck! Why did my husband buy this?” At first I was calling it “Bill Blast,” because it was so overwhelming and strange.
There are mimosa soaps and other products, but I don’t think that they compare to this. I believe it’s how the notes work together that make it so . . . um . . . amazing.
When I wear it, I feel like I am covered a warm, sexy leather blanket. I’m not sure why aldehydes aren’t listed, since it’s classified as an aldehyde fragrance. Something about aldehydes, or maybe it’s musk, makes me feel like I’m wearing a warm fur coat or leather jacket.
I can see why other reviewers say it could be unisex, because it’s has such a leathery and androgynous way about it. As one expert pointed out, the ingredients might be more volatile or ephemeral than average. I store mine in the box. I think that’s good practice. We can learn from old-time consumers who always took care of the things they spent good money on.
Anyway, Amazing deserves a chance. It’s seductive, edgy and may remind you of those other great, bold 80’s scents. Really, this one was born too late.
I enjoy it in the winter and cooler weather, but anytime is fine. And if you don’t want it, there’s more for me!
    * A few minutes later, I just wanted to add that I have an EDP tester.

So I have to admit that I read the reviews of this fragrance first before adding my own. It seems that “Amazing” is another love or hate entity in the olfactory market. And what do I smell might one ask? Powder, vintage woody powder with a somewhat dry quality. It’s as if the fragrance oil itself is dry. And I am surprised that this does not have some sort of anise. I thought I smelled that too.
Hears the deal. “Amazing” is not a fruity-floral and it does have a sort of unisex appeal. Its a fragrance one has to open ones mind to – its not run of the mill and its not a disaster on my skin. I don’t know what to make of it but it keeps its powdery integrity to a skin scent whisper.

An hour ago I would have said that you can put me among the hordes who don’t really like this, although it’s not actually terrible on me.
But then I took a shower. As I got dressed I smelled something SOOOO nice. It was this, smelling amazing… after a shower. I’ll have to dilute this sample and maybe I’ll be able to properly enjoy it.

Tried it for myself. To me, reviews here seem unfair. Nothing ‘wrong’ with this fragrance. Peach comes through for me, like Violet Eyes by Elizabeth Taylor. The aldehydes do not attack as most do (even my beloveds). Being male, often going unisex more in favor of women’s table, that’s all I can guess. I’m used to green, mossy and ‘fougere-types’. However, most of these notes are often used for both men and women. Is this soft like Miss Dior? No. This one, to me, is truly more earth-mother. I find it becomes very ‘natural’ and refreshing, like taking a walk in the hills. Maybe men can appreciate this if they accept there is nothing un-masculine about wearing floral. I keep waiting for some horror to assault my nose but the fume is sitting quite nicely on me and think I could easily wear this one more than most. Lesson here, take reviews with a grain of salt. Most times I read “Sigh. Based on the excellent reviews here I got this but it just doesn’t work on me.” Amazing is the opposite, based on the iffy reviews here I am even more pleased with Amazing and the price at which it can be obtained. Trust your nose!

    Firstly Im A Bloke/Guy:
I was first introduced to this fragance by a female co-woker who wore nothing only Bill Blass Nude,& while on holiday in the USA bought three bottles off Nude, but was given a free bottle off Amazing 100ml EDP!! When she tried it on herself she absolutely “HATED” it,& her husband would’nt even try it for himself!! lol’lol’lol That was way back i Aug 2001,& I’ve been hooked/wearing this so unusal fragrance ever since!! & let me add that I “NEVER” fail too be asked “what fragrance is that, that your wearing” not in a very bad way, but actually a very “GOOD” way!! Most people who ask me absolutely love it on me, including my own Mother!! & being a Senior Theather Pre-Op Nurse have to be really careful what I use while im in work!! Bill Blass Amazing: To my nose anyway is a very fresh green grassy/mossy/woody type of smell, kind of like walking in a Forest after heavy rain fall!! It also reminds me off the Original Miss Dior EDT by Christian Dior,& also Estee Lauder’s Original Private EDP both I also really like/enjoy & wear!! What I really like about Bill Blass Amazing EDP is the fact that not everyone is wearing it or using it!! I can fully understand that so many people seem to dislike this perfume, as when I first put it on/wore it I was very un-sure about it also!! I’ll say this: It’s defo a perfume that gets better the longer it’s on your skin,& once it fully develops it’s really soft/fresh/green & indeed Amazing,& it wears really well & long on my skin, which is really a true blessing for me,& the job I do!! Please don’t just cast this real beauty aside, you really do have to understand it fully firstly too see it’s full beauty come alive!! & if you already like the Original Miss Dior EDT & Estee Lauder’s Private Collection EDP then you should really like this also!! It’s perfect for Spring/Summer-Daywear/Nightwear,& a real show stopper once it’s fully developed on your skin!! I also have Bill Blass Basic Black,Bill Blass Nude,& Bill Blass EDP & can honestly say that I really do like them all,& how they wear on my skin!! So yes most Bill Blass Fragrances are indeed lovely & very classy in their own way!! 🙂 Xx

Oh my. I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews before I ordered this. I found it on Amazon for $8.99 so thought I’d risk it. Big mistake. HUGE! I sprayed it on and immediately my nose, my sinuses and indeed my entire head was full of a painful mixture of pulverized onion and lemon oil mixed together. I didn’t smell florals at all. I didn’t smell linen or a clean smell at all. All I got was the stench of the Grim Reaper. I ran, not walked, to scrub it off…but like Lady MacBeth, “OUT, OUT DAMN SPOT!”, it refused to listen and its remnants linger on my wrists and neck. How long I’ll have to endure this punishment I guess time will have to tell. Sigh…

I love Estee lauder White Linen and Jeffreydame’s review intrigued me. An “ultra modern up date on White Linen” drew me in, so did the amazing low price. Unfortunately, I smell soapy greens and grass, actually, it turns to late summer golden dry grass ending with sandalwood. With my chemistry, I smell Lauren’s Safari. I would have preferred a tad more water lily, but alas, can’t pick up that note yet. I don’t give up easily.

This is just awful!! Smells like Vicks Vapour Rub! Anyone else smell that menthol smell? I picked this up at Winners- blind buy- for $6.99 and now I can smell why it was so cheap….will use it to spray on my carpet if the kitty has “accidents”..

I have a brand new bottle of the edp in my happy little hands, and despite my anticipation I must join the ranks of the alarmed!
It’s difficult to describe just what went ‘wrong’ here, as my bottle is obviously fresh. I am assuming that Amazing does not work for a good many people. Certainly not for my chemistry! The notes seem anything but balanced, even though I normally enjoy white florals and mimosa greatly. I also had a friend try Amazing, and the result was even more disastrous. On her it was not merely sour and imbalanced, but BITTER. What a pity!
To put this into perspective, I generally enjoy aldehydic fragrances – White Linen for instance. But here the white musk and wood seems to shriek, rather than gently offsetting the aldehydes on my skin. I can imagine how lovely Amazing could be on the right chemistry, however, and will look forward to passing my bottle along.
Three stars…. One for the concept, One for the excellent longevity, and one for the notes imaginatively used.

I developed the Amazing fragrance with Bill Blass and IFF back in the late 1990’s and introduced the brand globally. Mr. Blass was still designing and very active at the time. Amazing is an aldehydic floral, and the “fragrance brief” was based on creating an ultra-modern update of White Linen. I believe the final Amazing scent perfectly achieved this in a delicate and fragile floral bouquet with juicy woody green accents. Very classy, elegant and feminine. Aldehydes are difficult though for modern young wearers – Chanel #5 through luxury marketing gets its scent on young women’s skin, but if you took Chanel #5, poured some out into a generic bottle and mixed it in with a group of other aldehydic florals I think it would get the same rough treatment. There’s really not been a straight aldehyde introduced in the past 20 years that has met with success, although we tried with Bill Blass Amazing. And a note on fragrance freshness, the delicate florals of this scent break down quickly, so shelf life in my personal estimation will be generally shorter in terms of formula stability and quality, which may explain those who comment that they might have a bottle that has “turned”. [notwithstanding those who believe fragrance lasts forever and only gets better with age].

The bottle with black stripes is EDT; with gold stripes EDP. Different notes, so if the reviews are all over the map, I suspect it is because the editions are different.

I must join the ranks of those disliking Amazing. I gave it a fair shot, I wore it for 7 hours–it does have good longevity–but I didn’t like it at all. White florals don’t often work for me, but I do like a good LOTV…this one is an unrecognizable LOTV, one that is combined in an odd way with a nutty-musky-honey note that I think must be the mimose. It does not produce a balanced composition at all; the floral notes were high and shrill, the honey-mimose was trying to bring it down a notch, but it was just dischordant; I think the aldehyde nature of this fragrance is just too intense, too sharp. I don’t get the peach mentioned by others, and to me this does not smell like the powdery-peach of Tresor at all. It almost reminded me of Halston Sheer, despite sharing virtually no notes; there was still a similar quality here. If you like a floral aldehyde, you might enjoy this scent.

I don’t see what the hate is all about. To me, this is a take on the famous powdery-peachy element of Lancome Tresor, except that Amazing doesn’t really develop the juiciness and the rich sandalwood accord of Tresor. Another thing Amazing reminds me of is Revlon Lasting, a 1995 fragrance that derives a lot from Tresor’s formula and monster success. Actually, Lasting and Amazing are pretty much alike, except Lasting has a pronounced mintiness from first spray to dry-down. Both Amazing and Lasting are pretty perfumes in their own right (though neither took off and are greatly devalued nowadays). Amazing, in particular, has a powdery, old-world, lady-like elegance that is all its own. If you like that element of Tresor, but find it too voluptuous, well, Amazing is much lighter, more predictable and easier to wear . A lady-like perfume. Bottle is to die for, and the cardboard case (in lieu of a box) actually reminds me of those dusting powder canisters from the 70s and earlier — a nod to the most charming, most salient element of Amazing.

I shouldn’t have even tried this. I don’t think Mimose works on my skin EVER so I should have known from the beginning. But beyond that one bad note, I just couldn’t tolerate this. A true SCRUBBER, I hated it fiercely and I hate the leftover minty, soapy, weirdness that’s left on my skin.
    I don’t know. Not good.

A floral green bitterly sweet scent with a powdery dry down. Very unique, almost verging on ‘strange’ category but it also has a classic feel to it. I think a person must appreciate a classic sharp scent to be able to like Amazing. It has an intense soapy-grassy opening. I liked it for its distinct nature and it just felt great on me. It suited me but i completely understand that so many people couldn’t appreciate it
Edit: a very atypical fragrance that grabs attention for its uniqueness, it feels like it was tailored for me for everyday use. I’m so sad — it’s quite rare and hard to find.

This review is for EDT, which is vastly different from the EDP, it’s two different perfumes really. EDT is green spring flowers, EDP is carnation.
Delicate lily of the valley, sweetened with peach and musk. Pleasant aldehydes, not a sharp green blast as it can happen in other aldehydic perfumes. A hint of mimose intervined with tuberose.
It’s a truly amazing scent or it can be when worn at the right time – and the right time for this for me is the end of winter or very beginning of spring, when the air is still cool and it’s windy and damp and rather bleak outside. I tried Amazing in hot summer – blah, in cold winter – blah. Can’t remember how it behaves in fall – it might be another suitable season.
The sillage is impressive, lasted for a whole day and I could still smell it on my wrist in the morning.
An elegant and classy composition and a very Victorian-like romantic lady effect: I want to wear dresses and beads and all the girly staff and watch my ps and qs. Loverly.

AMAZING:”Causing great surprise or sudden wonder.”
That’s what the dictionary says anyway…….yeah….I don’t think so.
Here are some alternative suggestions for a name:
    1.Just Ok
    2.Descent
    3.Nice
    and maybe even
    4.Underwhelming……(ouch!)
I purchased this blind but I had a cold so it was really kind of strange….like being double blind because when I got home and tried it, I still couldn’t smell it. I had to wait for today for my nose to clear. I would in no way say that this is a “mess” or terrible..or unwearable. Just very subtle and not AMAZING. I get absolutely NO peaches….only loads of musk, and wood (not sandalwood though….more like cedar or fir?) and baby powder…I swear I smell Patchouli as well but it’s not listed in the notes. For the first few minutes of application I can detect a bit of the lily of the valley and tuberose but none of the other notes listed. It seems to become really spicy as it dries down (not sure where that’s coming from…I’m imagining the peach/sandalwood combo maybe?) That spiciness reminds me of several Perry Ellis scents which I’m not a fan of. I could see how this scent could work on the right person….there is a hint of uniqueness in it’s herby/spicy/woodiness but for some reason it makes me feel slightly depressed and that’s definitely not what I’m looking for in a scent.

on me this smells like Peach Sandalwood and Musk. Its surprizingly light after it sits on your skin. I bought it because i got a great deal on Ebay. Im glad i have this in my collection now. I cant stop sniffing my wrist, its a very warm pretty scent thats great for anyone past High School. I can picture wearing this day or night. Maybe i will try some of his other perfumes now!

Bill Blass does clothes very well and after smelling this (my first BB, besides Mr. Blass) I have decided that he does scents pretty well too…
I agree with Pitbull Friend and F_A that this is a very clean (only slightly soapy) scent that has greens and lovely mimosa wafts under it. It begins with a nice clean and sweet fruitiness, alongside clear and soft sweet flowers. Tuberose is tempered, here, by the water lily and the muguet; so it has none of its usually loud and powdery aura. Just enough to keep it interesting and be smooth and not too aquatic or green. The rose sings softly, but adds it “voice” to the melody. The drydown has a musky woodiness but the sunny pompoms of mimosa keep it airy and fresh. This has, at least at first, a very “perfumey” feel and hinted at a vague vintageness, but became something more lovely and lightly blended. Something fresh, but flowery and also warm (but not spicy) with a really clean finish. Something on the cusp of a new century for sure: hinting at the powerhouse perfumes of the past, but being more subdued and modern, with enough strength to keep on going…
    Sillage: good
    Longevity: above average
    Overall: 3.5/5
Amazing? :Well, not really all that to me, but very nice, and quite refreshing for a floral aldehyde fragrance. Would I wear it? Probably not. Would I reccomend it: Sure. Do I like it?: Definitely. What amazes me most about Amazing is how it comes on strong and then becomes something softer and flowery then finishes clean and lovely…

Totally agree with Cisco…What gives with this ugly scent? I, like Kimberly, was really disappointed…I also wondered if I just got a ‘bad’ bottle, but not true…Perfume Addict said it well…The bottle is very cool, but the fragrance is a MESS!

My body chemistry turned this to wet straw. Fortunately, I had a friend that liked the smell on her. The dusting powder is nice. This is a perfect example of body chemistry turning what might well be a good frangrance, into a nightmare smell.

Hmm – I think the previous reveiwer was over-reacting to a different frag! On me this opens with a fresh green floral accord, very clean and uplifting and soon mellows into a warm very musky drydown which is quite spicy. I like it a lot – the overall effect is very intriguing and quite delicious. Excellent sillage and very long lasting – as it is discontinued now I would but it when you see it.

Fresh and clean scent but all I get is bathsoap. I want more depth in my perfumes and this one is lacking in that department. If I want to smell like soap I’ll take a shower, not put out $30-$40 bucks to smell like I did.

It`s very charming fragrance on my mind. Not modern, not fresh unisex, but real good Floral Aldehydic scent. It`s very longlasting – moreover than a day and the dry down is really nice. Good bottle and package. I don’t know why all the Bill Blass fragrances are being discontinued? It`s feminine and floral green with my favorite flowers: rose, muget, tuberose, mimose with fresh accent of mandarin`s skin. Good for a springtime/ It` really AMAZING!

I think it’s just a flowery scent with light peach aroma on deep for summer…Even it’s EDT form is very very longlasting on me(I can’t think it’s EDP!…)It can be worn as a strong summer fragrance or romantic ladies can use it as a light fall- spring perfume!…
