This is a rich and relaxing (lavender) oriental with lots of patchouli and some sparkles from the fruits in the drydown. It could have been labelled as unisex, I bet many women would find it masculine, at least in the first stage of the perfume’s development. Coffee, woods and vanilla are perceptible too but I can’t feel the heliotrope, it isn’t a creamy perfume.
I found it at first quite different to everything else in my collection but my partner’s reaction to it, which wasn’t very welcoming by the way, made me think it does share an aesthetic with Cartier’s Le baiser du dragon, one he clearly dislikes. Alexandrie mon amour also shares a few notes with Mugler’s Amen: lavender, patchouli, vanilla and coffee being the most perceptible, but this one isn’t a gourmand. And neither it owns a contemporary style, more that of the first years of the present century, what places it in a strange space: not too young but too old to be considered retro. Still I enjoy it for cool weather days when I want something comforting, not too sweet, green or spicy.

ALEXANDRIE MON AMOUR is an opulent, sweet-oriental and elegant scent. I found it at TK-Maxx and bought it mostly because of the coffee note in it…I can’t detect here a very strong espresso note; I find here a sweet creamy coffee mixed with vanilla, some flowers and woodsy notes. This fragrance is perfect for cold Winter days…It’s not easy to find, so I’m very glad that I have it in my collection 🙂
The nose behind this fragrance is Vincent Ricord.
Edit: It reminds me a lot of Belle en Rykiel (EdP) by Sonia Rykiel 🙂
