Description

Albho – transcends cultures and eras, and refers to man’s need to find inner peace. This peace can only be achieved by withdrawing from the world, focusing on yourself to find the truth. This inner struggle has been represented in many works by authors from Russia (P. I. Tchaikovski’s Swan Lake), Denmark (Hans Christian Andersen’s The Wild Swans), in Celtic and Hindu mythology … by the transformation of a Man or a Woman into a swan. The swan is a symbol of light and spirituality.” Albho was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Cecile Zarokian.

masculine, bright, almost citrusy in the top with a tingle of mint, eucalypus, pine and cedar but stays fresh not heavy or medicinal, open and outdoorsy

Very resinous and warm, if I’m not mistaken this one represents winter and the precious porcelain case is modeled on swans wings, the name means “white” too, all to do with winter.
But somehow it’s not ambery, it’s more of a dark, dense resins blend.

It’s Woody, oudi, dark greens, with few mints, and tree heart.
French oud, cedar, fresh dew grass, and sort of hay. As it calms down, the balsamic shows up within the above mix abit!
It does feels like a swan transformation somehow at night next to the reflective moonlight lake.

So interested in this house! They make a fragrance based on Baba Yaga!
The one whose thoughts, like skylarks,
Toward the morning sky take flight,
    – Who hovers over life and understands with ease
The language of flowers and silent things!
    Charles Baudelaire, Elevation

Today i have recieved a selection of samples of all 4 fragrances by Suleiko. All is very nice packaged and a personal greeting note included as well (in my native language). Sounds good.
First i try this fragrance, i spray one time onto my arm. Mmmmmm….. Smells good, there is something defenitely woody in it and also very balsamic (i haven´t seen the notes yet, i wanted my nose to react to the scent without my brain knowing, what to smell). At one moment it reminds me of my huge love “Feminite de bois” by Shiseido, but only as an echo of “Feminite”. Maybe because of the cedar note? I feel like i am taking a walk through a pine forest on a warm sunny day just after the rain. The pines are fresh and young, and they smell delicious (have you ever tried to chew a young pine greens?). I also smell a incense in here, a bit like in orthodox church, but very soft and pleasant. I have smelled these notes actually in some of Comme de Garcons fragrances, especially in their “Incense series 3”. But “Albho is much more softer. Sorry, but i don´t smell ANY eucalyptus in here, mint – yes, but no hint of eucalyptus in here by far.
I must admit, that the opening and beginning of the middle stage smell quite masculine, BUT the closer to the drydown, the softer it becomes and only that´s when i smell a hint of eucalyptus. Still i think this would smell much more better on men, than on women.
P.S. After half an hour i finally realise where i have smelled this before: “Nu” in EDT from YSL!!!! Yes, the one, but bit more masculine than the “Nu”. Otherwise they smell very close.
I must mention the sillage as well: it is very much detectable, yet not a heavy-hitter. It will last for sure.
I think since i have several bottles of “Nu”, i will pass on this one, however i DID really enjoyed this fragrance. Best suitable for Autumn-spring time, but also winter is a time to wear this fragrance.

It feel like that only at the beginning, with time it develops into warmer fragrance, with balsamic undertones, but still eucaliptus and cold aromatic accord are present. Very changing and interesting, I like it, but it’s better on my husband ;o)
