As a Theorema-replacement hunter, my way passed by Akkad and I am pleased that it did. The perfume salesperson had recommended Idole from the same brand but I much prefer this. Idole has a “dirty” note to it and even if it is a “good dirty”, I think Akkad takes you on a more interesting journey. It is the sort of spicy, warm scent that dries down to something that could be mistaken for having a great natural smell rather than an obvious perfume smell. I keep sniffing my wrist, it is lovely and comforting. An evening scent in my opinion and best applied with a light touch; to be discovered by someone who kisses your neck and lingers as they draw in the warm, delicious scent on your skin.

9:20 – Pepper, amber, and some sort of herb.
Checked the notes, I guess that’s clary sage. Surprisingly clean or maybe clear scent. I don’t have the right words. Distinct? Similar fragrances are often “sticky” smelling but this one isn’t. As I’m sitting here it’s getting even better. Stoked.
10:20 – Normally vanilla is the bane of my perfume existence. Lubin consistently has the loveliest version of it.
12 – Well I don’t feel the need for a vanilla perfume, but if someone just has to wear one, this would be a good choice.
The open is pretty fantastic for the first hour. The rest is lovely, just not my scene.

after a year postponing finally I get it .one of the best amber base sent.
spices and resins polish the amber to not the sweetness of amber be cloying .then vanilla give it more passionate oriental vibe .Akkad is really a high-quality scent.
    sophisticated seductive oriental.totally a masterpiece.

Brilliant concept for making this fragrance.
Extinct empire of AKKAD and also lost the capital city, Akkad is
    where the name came from.
Warm Gormundish, mysterious, Very Unique and unisex Scent.
it has beautiful amber, ginger, elemi notes which
Opens up Elemi citrusy and turns into very very nice Amber Vanilla Ginger scent.
Best pick for winter times and cold days of autumn.
the price is on the niche side but it worth it.
also, the performance is really good with EDP concentration.
    Scent 10/10
    Longevity 9.5/10
    Sillage 8/10

    In a nutshell.
This is the scent that you would give to John Wick.
the one you send to kill the f**kin Boogeyman.
a guy that don’t dress to kill , but tailor a full 3 piece suit to kill.
a guy who’s signature scent is intimidating , once you catch a wiff you know he is after you.
    Cheers.

The best amber scent I have ever smelled. Cuts thru the cold air like a knife. When I wear this I know that no one smells better. Can’t wait to try it in the summer.

Bought it from maisonparfum.com. That was the cheapest website I found for Lubin Akkad and Idole. It’s a very beautiful frag, but doesn’t agree with my skin chemistry. It smells amazing on my clothes for hours, but on my skin half an hour after spray, it starts smelling like grilled liver with cumin sprinkled on top. I have more than 50 niche frags and that’s the first time I had such a skin reaction with any perfume. That’s why I spray it on my beard and hair instead of on my skin. But despite the skin chemistry problem, I still like this frag a lot and certainly more than Idole. It’s very smooth and easy to wear. In the reviews nobody complained about this problem, so I guess it’s unique to me. It’s a mature smell. I think it ok for ladies above 20, but I cannot see this on guys below 30.

A delicate warm spice-amber that remains beautiful without overpowering, this one I must confess was not love at first sight but slowly grew on me. The fragrance which is named after an ancient Mesopotamian city and civilisation combines amber with notes of bergamot, sage, cardamom, elemi, frankincense, styrax, labdanum, vanilla and patchouli to create a mysterious and warm juice Sensual, perfectly unisex with moderate sillage and projection, the fragrance slowly and very surreptitiously evolves on your skin. A true triumph of modern perfumery with an evocative power to transport you to a different time and place without being overbearing, this is a winner all the way!

Heavens I love this spicebomb. I get a tonne of myrrh and amber on the opening.
The elemi and cardamom closely follows. I love myrrh but in some fragrances it’s too much and harsh. This has plenty of warmth from the amber and lovely spiciness from the cardamom. Not surprisingly the myrrh lasts for many hours.
This has to be one of my favourite autumn/winter scents. Very unisex
This has impressive sillage and longevity.

Very soft, cool, faintly spicy amber + baby powder (at least to my nose).
Fwiw, I have issues with a lot of resins being harsh and overwhelming (even not as main notes) – but I have no problem at all with this one. Quite nice.

This is my second Lubin fragrance and yes I really enjoy this fragrance during the fall and winter months. Both top notes of amber with a definite olibanum making it very luxurious with a hint of spicy/smokey blend. Thou it’s not listed, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was gloves adding to the rich/spicy blend.
Longevity and Silage is excellent…on my skin this juice lasts past 8hrs.
    Overall,
It’s a shame that this juice isn’t easy to get your hands on! This fragrance has a well balanced blend making it really enjoyable. Perfect to wear during the evening for special occasions. I recommend you try it before buying. 8.5/10

Oh such a gorgeous amber perfume. Such a lovely thing. I love it. Well-blended to a tea. Divine. Every note clearly detectable in the perfect blend, and it’s a beautiful, citrusy, spicy, resiny, and softly, smoothly sweet, amber delight. Excellent and wonderful. One of my favourite perfumes to wear all the time, anytime. No matter the weather, my mood, or any other thing, it smells fabulous and always makes me feel beautiful. It lasts for most of a long day, and smells delicious all the way through its evolution. I love Akkad.

Beautiful opening, but 30 minutes in there’s not even an echo of the beautiful opening. Just prickly olibanum and elemi sitting over a very light Amber base. Pass.

Mmm this is gorgeous. Softly sweet amber vanilla with just enough spice cardamon sage to make it unique and emotive. Very nicely blended no notes are unnatural or overpowering. Beautiful. I get a similar feel as mancera Indian dream.

Akkad is a “luminous amber” perfume.a descent into the profane pleasures of ancient tyrants,an exhalation of sacred oils, and the spicy skin scent of gorgeous, the base has amber and cistus-labdanum vanilla and patchouli.
The silage and longevity are very well.
This is my most favorite balsamic with amber perfume.I love the smell of amber and it’s the most prominent note in this fragrance.I get also aromatic smoky notes and a bit of incense.
    Overall: 10/10
    cheers Lubin!

What i love about this that it’s so well blended hence all the notes are in parallel, yet i can clearly detect each and every single note in the pyramid. Now this is what i call great blending.
The “luminous” description is spot on. It’s herbal, resinous and rich yet… laid back and bright.
For me, the orange and clary sage play the biggest part in making Akkad what it is.
Amber and Olibanum(raw dry non fumigated) lead the pack here.
Orange and clary sage sit in layer N’2.
Vanilla plays gently in the background, carefully poking the entire composition with soft whispers until it intensifies in the late drydown.
The quality of notes here and the impeccable blending make Akkad such a pleasure to indulge in.
    Longevity: 12+ hours
Projection: Moderate and dramatically intensifies in the late drydown.

I bought it, I like it, it’s nice but it’s not a ground breaking Amber. In fact I get more of an incense note from this scent, rather reminds me of Piguets Casbah. I get a little of the spiciness and amber in the beginning that others have mentioned but then it’s just pure incense on me sadly. I much prefer Idole from this house but it is a different nose and I tend to enjoy Olivia’s creations.

  20. :

    5 out of 5

Sharp incense (light though) and cinnamon opening. There is a soft creaminess underneath this though. Reminds me a bit of Opium in the vintage formulation mainly due to the spiciness of the fragrance. How is it that there is no listing of cinnamon? There really is a LOT of spice here which actually serves to dissuade me from wanting it. I’m glad to have smelled it but not sure it’s for me. As the spice begins to relax, it becomes more warm and comforting. The spices seem to move to the background and let that buttery coziness move forward. And, after a couple of hours, the patchouli has come forward and turned into dirt, so no matter the positives, this is a no for me.

Heavenly. If you love amber, this is a must try for sure. I agree that it isn’t groundbreaking or original but wearing this I couldn’t care less about being unique when I smell divine. Heady, sweet, resinous…I agree too with the resemblance to Shalimar, the ultimate compliment for me. Very good projection, haven’t worn it long enough to judge the longevity but it’s been two hours and still radiating strongly. It’s like being sheathed in an amber glow. Gorgeous!
EDIT: Ok so it’s been on my clothes for almost 12 hours and it’s still staying strong. It’s been a beautiful day wearing Akkad, I’m literally beaming with happiness! The hype for Akkad is well deserved.

So much better than Idole. Nothing harsh here, everything is perfectly blended, very round and soft. The top notes make me happy, the gourmand dry down makes me nostalgic in a good way. This is a very far cousin of Shalimar and Musc Ravageur. I smell something like a very soft opoponax, but it is not listed. Beautiful fragrance.

Absolute dream of a perfume. Brings back memories of …something I cant put my finger on, evokes happy, adventurous, playful feeling… Warm, comforting, alluring, captivating, mysterious…. So expensive and I wouldn’t usually even consider buying a perfume of this price (NZ$399) But I have decided I am definitely investing in this delicious masterpiece. I can’t control myself, its too good!

Lubin has blown me away with its creations and Akkad is no exception. I am very picky with scent and while I don’t think I would wear all of Lubin’s scents myself, I can definitely appreciate their craftsmanship, the story they tell. With Akkad, the story is of a life lived to the full, of warmth, oriental nights, flaming red and deep ocre shades. The eloquence of those who posted before me already speaks volumes so I will only add that this reminds me of Eau des Baux by L’Occitane, however, Akkad is warmer, sweeter, softer and just smells a bit more enticing on me (I am female but often wear men’s scents because I like woody, spicy aromas or by contrast, sharp, citric smells), more luxe – which is to be expected with this kind of price tag.
I’m still unsure as to which of the Lubins to buy, so far it’s a tie between this and Idole with a preference for the latter but I’m now curious about Korrigan (which is a Breton version of a leprechaun by the way).

Smokey, spicey with some sweetness. This smells exactly how it should. Deep, rich and warm. The complexity outshines any of the CDG Incense Series scents IMO. Majority of the notes are detected and this is easier to wear. Much more of a cold weather scent that is versatile enough for women and men, day or night. Performance is excellent the 2 times I have worn it. High in sillage and longevity.

Kind of an intelligent and unusual scent for a woman who might not normally wear perfume. Androgynous. World-traveler. Mysterious. I got a hint of incense in this. Lots of amber and clary sage. More of a night than day scent. Not crazy about it but don’t actively dislike it, either. I’d probably like the person who wore it, though. At least it’s interesting. Could possibly grow on me; we’ll see.

This is it! I am in love with Akkad. I really like Korrigan and purchased it. Then I read some reviews here and said what the hell. I just got the bottle and sprayed some on my arm. I am speechless. This is one of the best smelling EDP I have in my collection and not to brag but, I have maybe 150 Frags. “Unique” This starts out with a warm amber scent and within seconds becomes warm and spicy. 15-20 minutes later a smoky vibe strokes you as the amber becomes warmer and the spices settles in the back ground. Truly one of my new favorites.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

This is a chimera fragrance – Akkad gives you both familiar comfort feelings and an exotic unusual adventure – at the same time. Smoldering amber, comforting vanilla, exotic spices, and the loveliest warm glow all day! With Akkad, the initial spray starts out tingling your nose with its’ aromatic spices that have whispers of orange, patchouli and olibanum. Then it settles into a “buttery” resinous smell for awhile. Most resins don’t give you this “warm fuzzy feeling”- I think this comes from the gorgeous vanilla and amber, and they stay strong throughout the dry down. Late in the day, I got a little bit of spiced powder under it all. Loved every minute of this changing and complex fragrance!
Sillage is about 5 feet on me, and the longevity is amazing. It lasted all day and into the night. I liked it when I put it on, but the longer I wore it, the more it developed, the more I craved smelling it. I practically glued the back of my hand to my nose just to catch the nuances. I could become very obsessive about this fragrance!

  30. :

Akkad is a deep, dark and rich amber full of resins with aromatic, spicy, smoky and balsamic effects.
There are brushes of vanilla and patchouli as well, which add an incredible oomph to this masterpiece.
It feels like all the notes are dancing with each other in harmony.
    Extraordinary sillage and lasting power.
    Very unique and pure sophistication!

Received my sample today. Oh Akkad, immediately so very intoxicating, so very lovely. But wait, I know this intoxicating scent. I can’t stop sniffing. I am back in college, circa 1989, my signature, my love. It took me a minute to process the familiarity-and there it was Chanel Coco EDP. The similar notes, mandarin orange, spicy coriander/clove, smoky amber, labdanum and vanilla playing tricks with my nose. I don’t have a vintage bottle of Chanel Coco EDP anymore to compare but instantly was transported back by you Akkad. I must have a bottle as those years in my life were defined by a scent so sexy, warm and swoon worthy that if my nose and brain are playing tricks on me, oh well I don’t care. I love this so much and is completely FBW.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

Ohh…this is so good, it’s almost too good for a review 😀
To me Akkad is one of those dreamy fragrances which you can’t really allocate to a particular group, as it is gourmand and powdery and spicy and fresh all at the same time. One thing it is not – is floral. It is definitely as far from floral as you can get.
It really smells very unique and does not bring any common associations to mind. But if I had to compare it with something – maybe it would be the smell of warm toffee minus the cloying sweetness, with spices and lots of butter. Smooth and warm, this is how I would describe this 🙂
The silage and longevity are both well above average, but by no means monstrous.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

    Oh Akkad!!!
What a stunning resinous oriental juice this is from Lubin. I’ve got a strange, inexplicable, soft spot for this house even though I’ve only tried a couple of their fragrances, and they weren’t world beaters if I’m honest.
Sometimes you come across fragrances which put a smile on your face and redefine a genre for you. I mean I love lots of amber and Oud, incense accords but even if a scent is appealing or good quality it’s a rare thing to find innovation anymore but when you do it’s refreshing. It’s like every so often in music when you think you’ve heard every mildly derivative guitar outfit, then suddenly something excites you.
I wouldn’t quite call Akkad a ‘Game changer’ (hate that cliche anyway) but it is an amber with balance, sweetness, warmth, creaminess, not cloying and has refreshing fresh incense top notes…what more could I ask for?
It starts out with a fresh transparent blast of bergamot, frankincense, elemi and labnadum, transitioning into a kind of benzoin, styrax… ancient powdery amber drydown which is thickened and sweetened with vanilla throughout.
Akkad seems to manage both elements of resin slightly cool and uplifting to warm, cosy and authentic in the base.
This is great juice however, I can’t help but think the top notes should last longer before it dries down to what is quite a standard amber accord.
That’s harsh criticism because if you love resins as I do you won’t care and at least those top notes are there in the first place…however fleeting.

Im gona say it…omg..lubin is gettin serious right now. Every time i sniff this it gets better and better. I think i found my fall/winter scent. Someone mentioned a buttery vanilla and they hit the nail on point also a smooth spiciness with incense vibe that makes this intoxicating. This will be very sexy on the right person…so yeah, i think i can pull it off for sure.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

“Akkad” is similar in tone and texture to “Amber Oud” by Kilian, another buttery amber and benzoin scent that evokes the image of sun-lit waxy church pews, haunted with the smoke of incense.
Unlike “Amber Oud”, “Akkad” opens with a peppery cloud of sage, with the tiniest hint of sweet orange. This hovers above a linear soft vanilla, styrax and frankincense combination. I found the vanilla to be rather sweet, with an aerated quality, like whipped spray cream. A bit too feminine for my taste.
“Akkad” a very subdued scent, not particularly sensual or charismatic, but more hazy and meditative. There’s no denying the quality of the ingredients, as with all Lubin scents. However, the more I analyze it, the more I can’t help comparing it to something far less luxurious.
It does remind me slightly of wooden furniture that has been sprayed and wiped down with vanilla-scented polish. That’s not to say it smells synthetic, it doesn’t. I think it’s mainly because of the dense ‘aerosol’ quality, which is created -I assume- by the sage tickling the nose and the sweet, smoky, oily combination of resins and vanilla which, at its peak, reaches a solvent-like headiness that I always get when spraying furniture polish.
So for me “Amber Oud” by Kilian wins out over “Akkad”, as I find it evokes the same hazy, ancient atmosphere, but without the ‘sweet oil in a spray can’ effect.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

This is a gorgeous, soft, smooth, velvety, creamy and slightly sweet luxurious fragrance. Picture a dry and powdery incensed-amber with lingering notes of light smoke and orange. It is versatile and can be worn easily at any time which is not a normal characteristic found in amber based fragrances in my opinion. Highly recommended. There are no complaints on longevity/projection. Lubin produces quality fragrances….I like them in this order:
    1.Lubin Idole
    2.Lubin Akkad
    3.Lubin Korrigan
    4.Lubin Galaad

  37. :

    3 out of 5

This is a must have, I put a sample on at 11pm and its still going strong at 8am. Now for the fragrance itself, its balmy, sweet powdery. It reminds me of a silky tobacco vanile or more like tabac rouge. I think I would prefer this to both
Edit: having both TV and tabac rouge on my arm I could tell there’s only a slight resemblance between. But what ever it they they have in common makes this the best of the 3 followed by tabac rouge.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

The moment AKKAD hit my skin I understood that this is love.
It sounds very simple: resinous, smoky, sweet amber, but oh how it smells!… Paradise to my senses. I feel deeply relaxed when this magical elixir floats around my wrists.
It’s deep, it’s dark, velvety, smoky, dense. It screams luxury, class and sophistication.
For amber lovers a must try.

Akkad Lubin for women and men
Akkad Lubin for women and men

When me and my brother were small we were often hiding in the big, old wardrobe of our parents, pretending we are on a trip to Narnia. The smell of old, well preserved wood mixed with spicy-sweet fragrance of their clothes. This is how Akkad smels: like the Narnia wardrobe, a vehicle which will carry you to an unknown land, a promise of an adventure with a happy end.

This is yet another (dark) pearl from Lubin! I think my father has a very good chance of getting it for Christmas…

Upon first spritz, I saw an empire of exotic culture and sacred rituals. If this is what the Akkadian civilization of 2150 B.C. smelled like, then those must have been luxurious times. Akkad is rich, full bodied and consistent. This is a fragrance one can become lost in. You’ll find yourself transported to another time and in no hurry to return. Godly amber, iridescent resins and biblical frankincense that airs a memorable smoky quality.

Lubin is a house that we have to look different, always with other nose, in a good way of course.
A beautiful combination of smoky, coming of frankincense, sweetened by vanilla, complemented by amber, comes something incensed semi gourmandish on my nose and a refinement textured also.
At least a try, my bottle is coming!

Akkad is definitely the most “bombastic” among the recent Lubin Trio (Galaad, Akkad and Korrigan). It’s basically a balmy-resiny velvet amber with a nice projection and an extremely tenacious lasting power (12 + hrs). It’s not particularly innovative or groundbreaking but, if you like your amber to be spicy and incensey, this could seriously make a valid option.
IMO, given the exceptional lasting power, it might get a bit cloying and exhausting but it’s definitely well done. As usual, great bottle.

A smooth, velvety wood incense with a delicious vanilla/labdanum base. Gorgeous, almost edible, but yeah, expensive. Still, what a beautiful, comforting fragrance!

Maybe it’s just me and my skin, but this fragrance strongly reminds me of Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens. The only difference is that Akkad is a tad drier and leaning towards green notes (patchouli?) while Ambre Sultan is warmer with a little drop of vanilla sweetness.

I have good news and bad news: The good news is that you have stumbled upon an oriental BEAST! The bad news is that you will need about 2 Benjamin Franklins to obtain this fragrance.

This is a more manly version of Divine L’Homme Sage. I dont notice the florals as much like in Sage. This is a spicy fall frag, I like it.

God! this is intoxicating, I truly love how captivating this scent is. It has a warmth so inviting, it’s smoky amber goodness. You most certainly can detect this has amber in it, you get it from the start, and the olibanum plays it’s role giving it a deeper smokier appeal. I also pick up the vanilla which adds just enough sweetness to it and makes it slightly sexy! This is by far my fav. Amber scent, longevity I expect is fantastic, I did one spray on me 2 hours ago && it still smells like when I first sprayed it gradually getting softer as it develops. I quite love this, it made it to my wants, deff. worth a wiff! 😀
    p.s. I love Lubin’s Bottles!
Update: Now 6 hours in && still going strong! 😀
    Overall: 10/10
