Please, if anyone knows: is this beautiful fragrance discontinued? I can’t find it anywhere on the web, not even on Lostmarch website.
Couple of years ago I had Ael-Mat shower-gel and body lotion, too, and they were wonderful: the smell of sea and fresh sea-air, perfectly natural, refreshing and calming. For me it was the perfect fragrance for summer and hot weather. But now I see that it is impossible to find it (bath and body products are still available on some web-shops).

It really smells like the sea. Not some breasy, beachy fragrance, but a bittersweet scent that captures the actual smell of wild sea-shore vegetation. Very unique. I like it.

I suddenly and desperately fell in love with this fragrance in early March, when it’s too cold and wet to think about the sea. I felt jasmine somehow intermingling with sweet and dry orange flowers. And it was beautiful. I couldn’t even breathe normally – so much I relished the scent and wanted my lungs to be tightly filled with it and then the blood would carry the aroma all over my body together air molecules – that’s how I enjoyed it. But then something happened. It’s hot and dry outside. And I feel nothing but slightly musky camomile. And it is not beautiful at all. What a pity. No more love.

I liked this for the salt and herbal notes and I found the lasting power good. I will try it again on my skin a few more times before making any final judgments.

I love this perfume. Although on me it tends to disappear rather quickly. It leaves a smooth and melancholic note, which I love.
I do smell sea, and ocean as i spray it on, and then sea-salt, sea-wind, algae and wet rocks. Just love this! Sadly it last so little.

Be careful with this one if your skin tends to sweeten things! On me, this was a thick, sludgy, sweet, syrupy jasmine, with just a touch of salt in the background. The salt was a nice touch, but alas, it was in no way strong enough even to begin to counterbalance all of that syrupy floral sweetness.
The description above of “carmelized jasmine” was apt: this isn’t indolic sweetness, but more like an almost gourmand smell. It reminds me of the syrup base that gets mixed with carbonated water to make soda pop at an old-fashioned drugstore. If there were a jasmine soda, this is exactly what I imagine its syrup base would smell like.
Then, things do tend to go very sweet on my skin. I can readily imagine this being perfectly nice on someone with a very different body chemistry.

Let’s say at the beginning this is unisex fragrance, may be a little directed to female audience, but don’t see it to be typical feminine perfume. Male can use it easily during summer, during warm vacation time. For me it is perfect for any season … but this is me, I love flowers. Some hero guys can be afraid to wear it 🙂
Ael-Mat is different and unusual as a fragrance created for nowadays. It has old fashioned roots. Jasmine is the main player but very well balanced by woody balmy ingredients. I don’t feel Ael-Mat as fresh or airy. It is rather oriental garden of jasmine blooming in extremely hot and dry day. From the other point of view I see it as typical masculine fragrance loved by Arabian man. I know that jasmine is rather male directed smell than female in Middle East countries. And this is the perfect description – fragrance for male audience of any age and any time but with Eastern souls. Not for Americans with obsession directed to watery and clean fragrances.
In the heart of fragrance, jasmine develop more and more. This wonderful flower is stronger and more prominent with every minute. But jasmine in Ael-Mat is flowery, not dirty at all. This is jasmine directly from garden, not extracted and concentrated in the form of perfume oil. I can only say … Perfection in the perfume history. Heart notes last for hours, at least 8!!! Usually I don’t rate perfumes because in my opinion everyone has different taste and sensitivity… but in this case I can say for sure 10/10 for everybody.
Base notes are completely different that everything before. It is very warm, a little gourmand, but not sweet. I can compare it to some kind of fresh… may be lemony cereal with warm milk. Lovely just lovely.
I don’t understand why Lostmarch is so unknown, forgotten perfume house. In my opinion it is much better then most even most sophisticated niche perfume brands. I love it!!!

Juniper seems to be too harsh at the first sniff, but later you realize how beautiful it is – juicy, green, a bit sweet. Reminds of serene sunny morning in the very middle of summer. The fragrance is so fabulous that my memory keeps every minute of its growth. I can’t find any similarity between Ael-Mat and Mediterranean air. In fact it is extremely rich, natural smell of heated juniper grove.

If it was a little bit saltier it would be heaven.
On me, it tends to be sweet. It’s like a mix of jasmine and chamomille (my husband asked me if there was a honey note too, go figure!). Ael-Mat is like a “caramelized jasmine” if that makes some sense. But it’s not an indolic jasmine at all. It’s fresh and I can imagine it near the sea. In fact, I live in a Mediterranean city with lots of jasmine and I feel that Ael-Mat captures it well.
It’s also a bit “stormy”, like the feeling before and after a summer rain, when earth and sand get wet and the air is full with scents.
Lasting power on me is short. I can smell it for an hour and other people make compliments because the sillage is noticeable, but then it becomes a clean-skin scent.
Nikolasha – :
I come from a wild, moody, windswept sea and Ael~Mat capture’s that feeling to me brilliantly.
It smells like the bracing coastline. You get the sea air and the shrubbery as it lands on your skin. I’ve never smelled anything as reminiscent of my home shore. Soon the jasmine comes in and rather than change it up and make it a floral it actually softens and sweetens the already existing notes adding an irresistable depth to the whole thing.
This is so well made and it smells like it. I’ve never smelled a scent that has captured not only the salt water of the ocean but the environment that it creates so perfectly.
The only thing better than Ael~Mat on it’s own is to layer it w/it’s sister Lostmarc’h Aod. What an exceptional line of products. Oh~and yes….even though it’s moody and thought provoking in the most sparkling way possible ~it’s also quite sexy. My husband makes sure that I know this every time I wear it! A true stand out!

This fragrance reminds me jasmine tea around me and it is sour near the skin. Nothing too extraordinary, but it is very cosy and I felt in love with Ael-Mat from the first sniff may be because it reminds me my favorite Andalucia by Isabelle Deroisne. Ael-Mat is light, inoffensive, but lasting power is very good and it surrounds you with a perfectly smelling cloud.
I think it will be good for warm spring and summer days.
