Description
Fourteen years after the death of the young R&B singer, her family (Diane & Rashad Haughton) decided to launch Aaliyah perfume in cooperation with Xyrena. The fragrance should evoke the beauty, mystery and creativity that Aaliyah brought to everything she did.
The perfume is unisex, leaning towards masculine, since Aaliyah preferred masculine fragrances and with regard to her sexy tomboyish style. Its liquid is a hue of black which was Aaliyah’s favorite color. The composition opens with fresh blend of mandarin, mint and lavender. The heart consists of violet, leather and black pepper, while the base notes include sandalwood, amber, vanilla and jasmine.
It is available as 50 ml Extrait de Parfum for $64. 5% of all sales from this release will be donated to The Aaliyah Memorial Fund.
Aaliyah was launched in 2015.

Thank you to Xyrena for the opportunity to try Aaliyah. It’s a long-lasting, mature and complex fragrance with good sillage. Here’s an excerpt from my published review (search “Articles” for the complete text):
The fragrance is unisex leaning towards masculine, in keeping with Aaliyah’s preference for masculine scents and her sporty tomboyish style. The opening notes of Aaliyah evoke several sporty men’s fragrances from the 1990s with a clean and pleasant aromatic-citrus vibe—Polo Sport comes to mind, as does Tommy for Men. Leather casts a masculine shadow on the opening as well, but as the fragrance slides into the heart notes, a warm woody-floral fragrance begins to emerge. The base notes feature more traditional feminine oriental notes—sandalwood, amber, vanilla and jasmine, though the sweetness is toned down. Sandalwood dominates the fragrance for the second half, entwined in a gentle shampoo-like floralcy.
