orange, peach and jasmine; a lovely summer fragrance like orange pez

I ordered this (cheap on eBay) after reading the comparisons to D&G LB. It is much less like LB than the Cafe Puro and other dupes. And it was very very faint, sadly for me.
The drydown is soft and nice, somewhat reminiscent of the glorious drydown for Perry Ellis 360 but also a little like a gentle hairspray when you first spray it. I sprayed it on my pajamas and could barely smell it a half hour later.
I have a hard time picking out notes on this one and will keep trying. Not overly feminine so maybe I will put this on my spouse’s shelf. He likes these soft scents, and they smell great on him.

This fragrance is VERY different than any other fragrance I have ever smelled. It is a clean smell. I get the orange and the vanilla notes but there is also a note I can’t describe, almost like coconut. I like it. It is a nice scent anytime of the year day or night. It is very strong so a little goes a long way. The initial blast is very strong but the dry down is quite exilerating.

I guess fred has, like so many others, refurbished a gem w/trash if these reviews and list of notes are to be believed.
the original indigo was NOT fruity and NOT floral, and had base notes of hard woods.
it ended up smelling like you were out west walking through a fragrant fir/cedar tree grove.
on top of which, HELLO FRANGRANTICA, WHERE THE HELL IS 273 RED HIDING?
you couldn’t ask for a more cheap and cheerful Christmas frangrance, alone or mixed with bob cavalli’s serpentine.
ps – zynanya – I always keep some bvlgari black cabaret by gres to throw into a scent that isn’t quite making it on it’s own.
re: your mom slandering 273 red, I’m old enough to be your grandmother, no doubt. I am 56.
one of the things that women in general don’t know about perfume is that the word means “through smoke”, so they squirt it on the skin like anti-bacterial hand washing soap. no no no no no.
if you do that w/red it smells like cherry cough syrup. ladies, educate yourselves about one of the biggest joys of our live, (regardless of what those cancer doomsday sayers preach about fragrances, I don’t care. there is something in every bloody molecule I breathe in every day that is supposed to kill me stone dead, that also lands on my skin and gets in that way. if I’m going to die because I have to breathe, then I am going to breathe in the scents I love. moving on…)
to apply a fragrance properly SATURATE the air above your head and let it rain. after that, if you want more, spray it never closer than 12 inches away from the site you are aiming for. if you do that on top of your clothing, you are getting some protection from the carcinogens (they are there, but they are everywhere.)
if you are going for a more intimate rendezvous and you want to apply a scent on your skin, I would recommend you look into Arabian perfume oils, called attars/ittrs.
that’s grandma’s advice for today mon stinky petites. 😉
FRANGRANTICA, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU WHILE I WAS AWAY? YOO HOOO, ANYBODY HOME? where are all the glorious smells that are still readily available to buy, but not to read about? ces’t tommage. or however one says it’s a shame, in French.
love, oopsfauxpas

ORANGE ORANGE AND MORE ORANGE at first with a hint of peach and vanilla next I was expecting more from this but got nothing. I do not see where this smells like Light Blue at all! I would not get this one again. Reminds me of furniture cleaner. Yuck!

This was a blind buy out of a catalog a few years ago for me. I liked the original Fred Hayman 273 and was expected a heavier muskier version of that very floral scent. I was surprised by this and wound up liking it very much, despite how different it is from the original. I see a lot of the reviews comparing it to D&G Light Blue, which I love, but I don’t get that in it at all. To me, it is almost exactly Armani Code for Women. I have nearly used up my 1.7 oz bottle, so it’s good to know I will be able to buy it cheaply for a while, according to it’s availabilty on line right now. I find this scent VERY strong and lasting,BTW, and for me it’s a fall/winter scent, for sure!

My mom loves this perfume but couldn’t stand the 273 Red. I love the Red one over the Indigo but I am not sure why that fragrance isn’t listed on this site. I’m new here so if anyone can show me how to add a fragrance that would be wonderful!

The fragrance notes listed on here are mostly wrong. It has green or yellow apple notes blended with lemon, but NOT sharp lemony, more of a rich type of citrus like lemon oil. There is definitely also a noticeable cedar wood note in the heart or base. Very nice affordable version of Light Blue to my nose. I prefer it over the latter because it does not have any musk, which Lt Blue has & I am very allergic to.
Highly recommend if you enjoy D&G, but it is too strong or expensive for you. 273 could also be compared with Moschino’s I Love Love, but with less cedar, better sillage & longevity on me. It is not a weak, watered down college-age scent like I love love, which needs to be applied every 2-3 hours or more. Also much more affordable than both of the comparable scents.
I adore it for hot or humid weather. It smells especially good when worn in bright sunlight or on a warm, muggy night like it is tonight. It is clean & fresh without being overly soapy, masculine or barely there. I never tire of this one, it’s wonderful!

I had it some years ago, i remember several girls asking what i was wearing…it is very citric in the begining, then it changes into a an elegant floral scent that lasts hours.

Thanks Jillzilla for fowarding this one to me. 🙂 It looks like another case of skin chemistry. Orange and peach stand out in the opening for me with musk slowly and softly creeping in. If I stretch I can smell carnation, vanilla and jasmine in the background but the orange remains strong. I’ve had it on for 30min now and so far it still smells the same. Will update if it changes. In the end too much orange for me. A bit like Moschino I Love Love with much less musk.
noinet – :
Started off like a pleasant fruity-floral, with orange, peach, and jasmine. Lots of musk and vanilla came in rather quickly, and the fragrance started wearing down like a cheap cologne. I’ve only had it on for 15 minutes and it smells powdery and synthetic on my skin. Nothing is left of the original burst of fruitiness. I really can’t wait to wash it off.
