What a fantastic EDP! It’s scent is quite unique and marvelous.
It opens with a fresh citrusy note (bergamot) and almost imediatly you receive a blast of sweet leather/suede with lesser intense pepper and sandal wood notes.
You kind of have those notes blended to perfection for an hour before you start to loose the fresh note.
Then scent will then remain quite strong for 5 hours more, with a good projection and a decent sillage of 4~5 feet. Pratical longevity hits the mark of 10 hours in total. In the last 4 hours you will have a quite aromatic and pleasant scent close to the skin – perfect for dates 🙂
The overall performance is above average. Black Tag and Black Tag Intense are two compleatly diffent fragrances – different scent, different notes and different performance. Also the intense version is quite loud as oposed to the discretion of Black Tag.
I don’t think that this fragrance is a clone of any other cologne that I know. I do not get any Gucci Guilty vibe, although I perceive why some people recall Spicebomb or Man in Black. The sweet leather/suede dominates and the strongest vibe for me relates to Armani Code Profumo. But no way I would consider it a clone.
Do not wear Black Tag Intense in hot weather, but it’s perfect for late Autumn, Winter and early Spring, day or night, casual or formal. While the sillage lasts you will receive a fair amount of compliments… from gourmand leather scents lovers.

    LEATHERY, FRESH, SWEET AND SPICY….
Well it works very well. Although I really would love it to lean on the Bvlgary Man in Black side, I think it leans more in the Armani Code territoire.
Nevertheless a great scent anyway. I need to try it a bit more for a more serious review.
    Yep, it’s a great fragrance!
Edit1: Not sweet enough for Guerlain L’Instant vibe,.. Not spicy enough for Bvlgary Mani Black Vibe… Gourmand and leathery enough for the Armani Code vibe!
Edit 2: I do not get any Gucci Guilty resemblance in Black Tag Intense.
Edit 3: Did I mention that I love this fragrance?

Smells like a leathery version of Herod. Has a fruity/cherry accent that is not reflected in the listed notes. Quite good if this is your budget.

Zara: Is this also going to be re-released, like some others lately?
Like to see it in the shops in the Netherlands again. Highly interested….
Edit 25 nov 2017: Got the new released 2017 version of this.

Definitely Zaras copy of Armani Code – its modern, sexy and warm, a little bit sweet and formal as hell.
There were times when I hated it and times when I was in love with it! I have vintage Code on one hand and BT on the other and they truly do smell similar! The difference is that Code is a lot more citrusy and lighter on the drydown, while Tag is heavier due to the black pepper and lack of flowers and citruses. Guaiac vs Cedar is interesting and every one of them goes the other direction, but the biggest difference is tobacco – a major accord that differes these fragrances that play on the same team and for the same goal.
If Black Tag had a designer name, it would be one of the best selling fragrances marketed to people who go to formal events, thats all I gotta say.

I get a Bvlgari Black vibe from this. Not as dirty in the opening, and not as clean in the drydown, but close when it comes to the main idea.

So far for me, Zara make attempts to copy other popular fragrances, or at least borrow heavily from them.
So what does this one borrow from? Well, it’s leather. And I’ve been really looking hard for leather fragrances recently.
What type of leather? Well it’s far from the old smokey and formal leather of Tuscan Leather. It’s much more the Armani Code type leather: smooth, and modern. Actually, I wonder if this was Zara’s attempt at an Armani Code. There are certainly similarities: it is dark, smooth leather, modern and night-time, whilst still being wearable during the day.
It’s not bad, but I’m not sure where I could wear it: Armani Code has more character and sexiness as a night time scent. Tuscan Leather and Varvatos have more character as daytime or formal scents.
If you want a simple and versatile leather, then this is a good and affordable fragrance, even if a bit nondescript. Although I must say, the sillage is incredibly low. Did someone say skin scent?

Embarrasses many much more expensive perfumes than this.
    Absolutely excellent.
Congratulations to everyone involved in creating this fragrance and its bottle.
The Zara is undoubtedly the best brand in the world in the fashion universe and all that this involves.

Absolute love for Zara fragrances. This one reminds me of L’Instant by Guerlain. Great longevity for a fantastic price.

I sprayed this on at Zara in Houston this weekend while in the checkout line with my husband. It started out smelling like sweaty man private parts then faded into a clean balls smell. Seriously. It made me blush. I could only handle it for 20 minutes before I scrubbed it off.

I got a chance to have a spray on my hand, and it’s sweet all the way.
Just like Versace Eros, Guerlain L’Homme Ideal, Azzaro Desible…. It’s quite boring and …. too sweet for me. Change my mind to have it
