This is interesting to sample but after a few wears I don’t think I need more. I love gasoline notes and was seeking that with Xyrena 66 but at best this is dirty motor oil.
It does an admirable job evoking a very realistic environment. It reminds me of the first moments of rain hitting a highway construction site on a summer day. Not petrichor but the smell of dust and oil being lifted off hot asphalt. I don’t get anything with a heady, flammable gasoline note, unfortunately. More damp and earthy paired with a hint of new plastic, oily mud smeared over leather. Over time the mud is wiped away and the leather develops, still stained with oil. It gets more wearable and comfortable here, realistic and likeable.
Xyrena 66 is the blue collar bulldozer equivalent of Santa Maria Novella Nostalgia’s playboy race car. While this one doesn’t entice repeated wears for me I will definitely check out any further Xyrena offerings that sound promising, as 66 is a well executed exercise.
