Description

This Wet Garden takes place at Easter, full of early spring flowers after a heavy April rain.

The combinations of flowers, the rain and the rich spring soil comprise this fragrance, one of the most complex in the Demeter Fragrance Library, but one that remains accessible, understandable and wearable.

It is available in 30 and 100 ml bottles, as well as the body care products.

Like most reviewers, I sense wet, wet, wet grass, soil, flowers, their leaves and stems in the first half hour. This green wetness doesn’t last. The dry down is the TOTAL OPPOSITE: dry, dry, dry powdery hyacinth. Interesting concoction, to be sure.

I’ve worn it before, but this time I smell baking soda which gives it a deodorant smell, specifically lilac deodorant.

I have been living in New York for a couple years and this fragrance really reminds me of the unexpected whiff of freshness you get when you walk past a flower shop. It is very crisp and green, like cut stems and iris. There’s a little bit of dirt, but it’s a very clean and green scent overall. If going to the florist gets you giddy, definitely pick this one up.

Smells like wet grass or a flower petals when they are thrown into a body of water like a pond.
It’s a simple and nostalgic scent.
This fragrance takes me back to when I was little and would do just that, throw flower petals into water. This is also very much a more mature version of when you’re little and you pick up flower petals and put them into a glass of water in an attempt to scent the water.
At times only the water comes forth and you have to wait so don’t dismiss this as only water. Sure it’s aquatic and watery but it smells like the bottom of a flower vase.
Florals are nondescript and hard to make out. I think I smelled hyacinth, violet, rose, jasmine, which are typical aquatic floral notes. It’s a little similar to the fragrance WATERFORD LISMORE.
This is a flower vase, or wet earth with floral beds, a garden after a rain.
Beautiful and perfect to wear for spring
If you like florals this is a good one
Issues I have with it is the longevity. I have to reapply constantly.
Wet Garden is also a fine aroma for the home so spray it in the air to get others to smell it and it always receives compliments. I scent my condo in Florida with this scent.

I don’t regret buying this. It’s green, fresh and floral, and as I’m a countryside person it’s just how I want to smell. I would say it’s more like May than April, because in Britain the flowers don’t start coming out until May. It reminds me of my favourite Nature by Yves Rocher.
I wish it could be more an Eau de perfume than cologne, because I have to spray quite a lot on and the bottle isn’t very big so it’s running out quick.

Lush, wet, green, floral. Like velvety pansies or purple hyacinths in dark, rich soil, all covered in April showers.

I like a lot of demeter scents. This one smells like one of those refrigerated cases where they keep roses in a florist’s shop. Cool, wet and floral/green.

This is one of those fragrances that are named exactly how they smell. It’s a very floral scent, but not pretty. It smells like you have been picking lots of different flower petals with some leaves here and there for a green and vegetal touch and mixed them with dirt after a heavy rain.
    Scent: 5.5/10
    Longevity: 5/10
    Projection: 3/10

A little disappointed – Wet Garden is nothing but florals. I expected at least something that smelled like a wet garden, like soil, grass, “wetness” or rain, and maybe some fungi, in addition to some florals.

Smell of the grass, that was just cut. Very green, very wet, very strong feeling of the spring morning after the rainy night. Unfortunately, my bottle was defective, the perfume flew away in 2 weeks. But my room smelled like garden) I would not wear it anyway, I am not a lawn mower girl!

I liked it at first but the smell makes me feel unbearably sad for some reason- very similar to Serge Lutens De Profundis but a million times more affordable.

Smells like spring. Like the first day you open your windows, or when you step outside and smell things thawing.
A little bit earthy, a little bit floral, a little bit grassy.
The combination creates an almost masculine hyacinth scent, if you can imagine such a thing, yet remains entirely suitable for women.
(Bears some similarity to Greenhouse, but more organic and not as sweet.)

I’ve just purchased this as an alternative to salt air, which I couldnt find. I like fragrances that evoke memories and emotions. Wet Garden is like walking along a hedge garden just after the morning dew has settled and the sun is not yet out. I like that the wet tone stays longer than a top note. It eventually disappears and leaves you with a scent of fresh cut flowers. Although I wouldnt want this everyday, it’s a great pick me up for hot summer days. Unlike Dsquared wood, which smells like a forest, this one is consistent with a garden smell or a well-maintained floral shop.

I got this, and I like it, it doesn’t last. But, really if you want “wet” the go-to perfume is Channel #19!!

A cheapie but goodie. A true representation of spring flowers (particularly hyacinth) and wet earth. This is the sort of scent I remember fondly–and long for– living in NYC. Unfortunately, this is not long lasting and does need to be reapplied fairly frequently but, given the price, it is worth it! I would not describe this as a Penhaligon’s Bluebell dupe, although they are in the same vein– Bluebell evokes earth differently (with a spicy, cinnamon) and (at least on my skin) smells more synthetic. However, Bluebell smells divine on my aunt, so I guess its a matter of skin chemistry! Wet Garden really is a “pick me up” that’s worth a try!

If you like this, I recommend buying instead Penhaligon’s Bluebell. Oh so similar, but higher quality blend.

As an avid gardener, I was hoping for the best for this fragrance, but to me it didn’t smell like wet garden at all – or wet or earthy anything. It just smelled like cheap soap – overly strong indiscriminate floral. 🙁

A garden after the rain complete with wet soil; really like it, the novelty, and I’m wearing it today.

Wet Garden is a definite spring fragrance, and to me it is the most accurate hyacinth that I’ve ever smelled in a bottle. For a cologne, it has good sillage and lasts surprisingly long. I’m wearing it today, because it is a cold, dreary, rainy autumn day and I needed a “pick-me-up”. I really love Demeter’s fragrances. For $6.00 you can get 15ml of a really enjoyable fragrance.

This has a pleasing wet green scent at first but dried down kind of plasticky and the faded completely in about 30 minutes.

  23. :

This is nice, but surprisingly not my thing. It has a cool, sweet floral note (maybe hyacinth, according to some of the other reviews) that brings to mind a specific friend’s house, maybe they had a hyacinth air freshener or candle or something. It is a little generic, after the dirt fades off. The dirt accord is nice and mellow, it makes an interesting background, but it vanishes within 10 minutes. If you’re looking for an earthy smell, this might not be it.

I hau it once and I’m not sure to be able describe this fragrance…but I loved. This is the fragrance of mine favourite moments: when, after a raining day spended in the office I come back home and have a long, relaxing walk with my dog…around us there are only fields, and they are wet and fresh, there is a little breeze and I can see the mountains illuminated by the sun. This is wet garden!

This goes on as a delicious hyacinth fragrance. It develops into a generally green scent, less floral than grassy, but still very fresh.

this isn’t the same “dirt” scent as their Dirt. this one’s much better. this is the smell of my Daddy’s garden after a heavy rain – more of a memory in a bottle than a perfume, as far as i’m concerned.
but i do love it. it’s fertile earth, clear water (no headache-inducing high pitched aquatics, though!) and crisp green leaves.
…. and this is more what i expected their Greenhouse to smell like.

So thanks to Greenfaerie38, I got to smell this beauty. It truly is damp dewy spring flowers to me. I a little wet soil. It is light and sweet, and on me develops into a well behaved spring hyacinth. I cannot get enough of this! its starts out spicy, sharp and green, but fades nicely into a sweet fresh damp scent. the greeness is still there in the background, but is well behaved. So unique, it really develops in wet weather! Oh and this is not some synthetic mess that Estee Lauder churned out *cough* beyond paradise…. This honestly reminds me of sticking my nose down to the ground after a spring rain and soaking in the aromas of primarily hyacinth, wet soil, and greens and wet musk. Ah, not a trace of old lady to be found…
oh no! I seemed to have developed an allergy to this! Cursed synthetics, you will rue the day you turned on me! The task of finding a new more natural replacement is going to be almost impossible!

The initial smell of this is just what it says: the smell of a greenhouse after a watering. A wonderful beginning! Unfortunately, it doesn’t last. The smell completely changes on the drydown and just becomes a plain, nondescript powdery scent. So disappointing.

WHAT THE????? I love fragrances that are supposed to smell like rain, wet woods, dirt, etc. but on me this was a heavy musk that ended up smelling like Old Spice or some sort of cheap aftershave! Did not smell like wet anything. Apparently a horrible chemical reaction with my skin that resulted in a sneeze-fest.
Luckily, Demeter’s Dirt and Dandelion and CB I Hate Perfume’s Black March are GREAT and give the feeling of fresh earthiness that this one was unable to provide for me.
Disappointed, but probably not the fault of Wet Garden, just a bad match.

This is the smell of my parents garden in spring after a downpour I love it.
My friends also adore it when I wear it but like so many of demeters perfumes I just wish it had more staying power.

I was very curious about Wet Garden. I am actually quite interested in most fragrances from the Demeter Library- most of those that I tried manages to reflect their names quite well.
Wet Garden comes as a complete surprise. Demeter’s garden is somewhat wild, green, grassy, hard to tame. Everything here comes in abundance. For me it starts like a bouquet of fragrant gardenia and lily after a rain. There is the soily element, there is ozone, there is an aura of air after the storm.
Wild Garden is however not something I would like to wear. It seems too close to nature? It’s hard to explain, but I think it is too much of flowers and too much of ozone, as a scent it is intruguing, but as a fragrance not for me.

The opening truly smells like warm damp earth but it quickly dries down to a generic sweet floral. I’ve now sprayed it on then washed it off about 5 times because the opening keeps fooling me into thinking I like it. Interesting but fades too quickly into boredom.

This one is definately living up to it’s name. A wet garden indeed on an early spring morning, when a busy gardener is turning the cool damp earth upside down, the first greens pushing through the soil accompanied by the very first spring blooms, narcissus and hyacinth.
I really like to smell it in deepest winter evenings when spring and summer seem to be endless far away, it lights the mood and instantly creates that image of a spring garden in my mind, very uplifting.
The lasting power is ok, it’s just a cologne, so I didn’t expect it to last long, I think 2-3 hours is ok. An unusual scent, to wear for yourself to light up your mood, not to please others, though it is very pleasant.

I get accurate hyacinth with dirt, grass and stems. Dry down goes into a soapy hyacinth, like a French-milled expensive soap. Doesn’t last long, but that onset is gorgeous.

This is an hard frangrance to describe
it smells a cross between Lettuce
from a sandwitch and a the after rain
from a forest it’s sweet and it does
get a bit overwhelming at times
this may not be my favorite but
it’s unique if someone wants to have
something different from the conventional Perfume
