Description

Kate Spade launches new perfume called Walk On Air, coming out in March 2015, revolving around femininity and the city of New York. The fragrance is casual, relaxed, everyday …

The composition is fresh, airy floral with a focus on lily of the valley and created by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. It opens with linden blossom, Calabrian bergamot, maiden’s hair fern, Solomon’s seal and Tunisian neroli, with the heart of lily, magnolia, Egyptian jasmine and narcissus. The base notes include a mix of crinum lily, white iris and violet leaf.

The face of the campaign is model and ballerina Laura Love, shot by Ryan McGinley. The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum with shower gel and body lotion.

Green floral citric scent that I find work appropriate as it is light and fresh – pretty much summed up in its name! Not a long lasting scent on my skin but I can wear this on hot days as it does not induce headaches. A pretty bottle that may have been targeted to younger girls that actually belies the fact that Walk On Air can be worn for all ages.

There is something vaguely fabric softener-ish about this but that’s actually a positive thing with this fragrance. I love it. It is one of my number one work perfumes. You will smell clean, good, and inoffensive. This is one of my favorites. I get good sillage and projection out of it.

This def smells like its name. It is light & nonoffensive. A church or office perfume. I get LOTV & something green but cant identify to mush else in it. It doesnt have much sillage. Its nice if you want to smell clean & pretty but not make a statement of fill a room with the scent.

If light green had a scent, this would be it!
I really love the freshness of this. It’s light, happy, and pretty.
Super happy that I blind bought this when I saw it on sale. 🙂

I am obsessed with this perfume. It smells fresh makes me feel happy and alive ! So clean and refreshing ! It has a great staying power on me and I got it with the roller ball so I can reapply later at night if i am out all day … In love !

This is basically just Jessica McClintock on me at 3x the price. It has good enough staying power that I can say the quality is there. But the originality is not. I feel really conflicted with the message this brand gives off. The graphics on their bags, scarves and even their cutesy pinata necklaces and other jewelry would imply a fun and whimsical feeling vibe. But thus far I do not get that from the fragrances. They all look like that on the packaging, but in application feel like really played out traditional floral concoctions of varying appeal. Not impressed Kate Spade. Not impressed at all.

Super beautiful, and as others have commented, ethereal. The opposite of earthy.
If Walk on Air could be described as an expression, it could be something like:
    [EL Pleasures-(peony+lilac)]+[Clinique Happy-citrus]
The drydown resembles Happy in some ways, but the same nose (Rodrigo Flores-Roux) created both scents, so no surprise. He is my king of lily scents because it seems he often slips one into his compositions, and lily could be my favorite note in the world (lily not LOTV).
Crinum lily gives this a spring-like polleny shimmer, but mostly it’s green lily of the valley and that linden smell which makes me think of spring Up North where it’s not stiflingly hot.
Not to sound weird, but this also has an angelic sweetness like the way children smell. Very innocent and fresh. Walk on Air is exactly the color pale blue, light as air, fresh and happy. So much irony here.

I love the fern and the Solomon’s Seal as a supplement to the LOTV. To me the unusual notes, and the tartness of the bergamot lend an effervescent quality, while something in the middle gives it an echo of sensuality – perhaps a well-done magnolia. Overall the lightness and the green of it do not seem dull or office-worthy, but rather other-worldly, as perhaps the name might accidentally indicate – with a bitterness of something a fairy might wear. Also, I love when a scent has the powder of iris in its base – it is a wonderful, delicate way to finish off a perfume. I think this is her best scent. Subtle, nuanced, and quite underrated. And actually it lasts medium to long on me, with an arm’s length, though not room-filling sillage.

This fragrance is gorgeous and feminine. It’s floral, fresh, and very classy. I think this is a wonderful everyday scent, and it lasts a long time on my skin. I sprayed some on before bed, and I could still smell it on myself the next morning. I like the dry down even more than the initial spray because it mellows out a bit more. This is the perfect spring/summer fragrance!

In my opinion, this fragrance is what Kate Spade is all about. It’s not edgy or sexy or even all that revolutionary. It’s light, cheery, beautiful and classic. There’s something about this fragrance I find nostalgic. It reminds me of how my childhood backyard looked, flowers, wet leaves and strawberry bushes. I admit I rarely wear this out nowadays. I’ve recently developed a love of rose and fruity summer fragrances so all my white florals, including this one I’ve put out of daily rotation, but usually when I just need a quick morning pick me up, I’d spray this by my desk
As far as performance, I remember it lasting an okay time, about 5-6 hours. This isn’t a super complement getter on me though, but I do enjoy getting a whiff of it throughout the day.
Rip Kate Spade, you will be dearly missed

Walk On Air is a lily of the valley perfume first and foremost but it sidesteps the normal pairings of other high pitched floral notes and instead is balanced by a lot of greenery… fiddle ferns, linden blossom, violet leaves… and some surprise accords when I finally looked up the official notes. A plant called Solomon’s seal was in there, which made me smile because I named my child Solomon. Another note listed was crinum lily, which I had never seen in a notes pyramid before, didn’t even know what it was, but lo and behold the pool area in our Hawaii vacation rental was decorated with a low hedge of crinum lilies. I went from a Scentbird trial flask of this to my own full size bottle purchase.

There is a sharpness to it that gives me a headache. Some green fragrances border on being “too bright” if that makes sense (like how grapefruit notes can give you a headache.) I was given a travel size of this two or three years ago as a gift and it’s been used maybe twice because of that effect. Just writing this, I realized I need to declutter it because I am never going to wear this.
If you like white citrusy floral with a definite green note, you’ll probably like this. It isn’t anything particularly remarkable or unique so I wouldn’t pay a high price for it. I like and use Jardin Sur Le Nil by Hermès (which is older and can be found inexpensively online) which I feel is a softer, less citrusy version of this. If you’re looking for a soft, office-appropriate scent for hot weather with a green note, I’d recommend that one instead, though it doesn’t have super long lasting power (I reapply at 3 hours and use 2-3 sprays do not a heavy user). YMMV!

Frankly, when I first tried this it took me back to a scented Crayola crayon I had in childhood. Light, inoffensive floral scent. Nothing interesting or notable though. It is a pro at disappearing tricks though. Usually if I spray a perfume under my clothes I can get whiffs of it all day (even something equally light such as Daisy Dream), but with this one 7 hours later I have to roll up my sleeve and put my nose to my elbow if I want to smell it.

lily of the valley and violet leaf go hand in hand. Thankfully violet leaf is not so prominent. The citrus notes appear a few minutes later.
It’s all a green, inoffensive springtime allegory. For some reason I get lots of lemon/lime.
But after a while it turns into a very, very light scent.

  15. :

I really like this scent but you’ll see I’m a fan of citrusy white florals and greens. It is interesting that Solomon’s Seal is a top note which to me smells a bit between jasmine and narcissus which are both middle notes. I’d have to say this makes me think of walking in horse country in Florida on a late dog-day afternoon, maybe because of the Magnolia and Crinum Lily, maybe because of the jasmine that reminds me of the night blooming jasmine starting to open. Very citrusy and green when you first put it on. Some people’s chemistry just doesn’t do well with the Linden and the Lime. White florals, citrus, greens- really light and fresh to me. The sillage isn’t ridiculous and it wears moderately well. Def. seems like a Spring/Summer Daytime scent to me.

This scent is very pretty, effervescent and positive feeling. I find a similarity to Baiser Voele but less chilly, and Jessica McClintock Always and Forever but sweeter and more modern. I liked the New York version as well.
It has some interesting notes too, maidens hair, Solomons seal, Violet leaf. Most people would find this a pleasant scent. I am interested to try the New York version on my skin this one works for my chemistry. I will definitely wear this in spring.

I’m a sucker for lily of the valley, and this fragrance is a beautiful lotv scent. It feels so bright and happy, a perfect perfume for the transition from spring to summer. This belongs to sunshine and breezes scented with flowers, and picnics in the park, and all things bright and beautiful.
I have been tempted to buy a big bottle, but two things hold me back. 1. It doesn’t last very long on my skin, and I have to reapply nearly hourly to maintain the scent. 2. My husband describes this as a ‘meh’ scent on me. I will probably just enjoy every fleeting moment I have left in my little bottle, and recommend that others test this lovely scent for themselves.

Brocard’s Lvitsa (the blue version) does exactly the same job (even matches the colour), but is only 5GBP.
One does not sell lilional for $$$. It is a pleasant synthetic floral molecule, but very cheap.

I am not a big fan of this sent it is was over priced and honestly smells bad its sad that Kate Spade came out with a sent this bad they should just stick to purses

  20. :

Similar to Avon Goddess. An overly floral perfume. Too much jasmine or lily of the valley can be a headache inducer and can come off like gasoline.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

It’s a light girly, but not very sweet scent. The kind of smell I like on other girls, but not on myself, as I prefer something more sophisticated that keeps me on my toes. Reminds me of a girl who is kind and easy going, whom I like but don’t see myself ever truly bonding with. Or something I’d probably wear this on a first date to seem less intimidating.

  22. :

This is a very nice, light, non offensive perfume. It starts out with a very wet/green burst of fresh air and dries down as a subtropical forest scent. the most predominate notes for me are lily of the valley, lime blossom, fern & violet leaf. I can detect the magnolia, bergamot & jasmine. It’s feminine without becoming girly and cloying. which I appreciate, for many fragrances go that derection. A good scent for spring/summer. Suitable for the office and can see on 20-30 years of age.
The one down side is it’s weakness and it dissipates rather quickly.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

This scent is lovely. I get mostly floral, but it’s far from overpowering. It’s youthful and very feminine.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

Love the smell- fresh, subtle, airy, no sweet or fruity undertones- just very fresh smell of the air in spring. Unfortunately, on me it doesn’t last long nor has good sillage. Any sweet smell like Bright crystal or Mademoiselle will overpower and drown it even if the other person is on the other side of the room.
Too bad, because the smell itself is gorgeous.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

A bright, crisp almost citrus lily mellows into something more mellow, a lily musk. Fresh and bright, clean and youthful, this is not a complex scent. It does continue to mellow, but stays a true lily. Very similar to Avons Haiku, but frankly less complex (Haiku becomes a soft lily sandalwood) and with less longevity; Walk on Air lasted 4 hours max.

The opening notes were like a clashing of powder and green notes and to my surprise that settled down very quickly. Thank god it did too because this was a blind buy and I didn’t want to return it.
After that, it’s smooth sailing, a very floral fragrance with a smattering of green notes that bounce in and out of sight. Not too bad.

this is very fresh and floral with a blast of green and sunshine…but at the same time sweet and musky. It reminds me very much of one of my first perfumes Gap Heaven!

Part 2. Purchased. This is a very long lasting perfume. Very floral. Slightly green. Like fresh cut flower green. Clean bright. It’s fresh from the shower putting on freshly washed clothes then holding a bouquet of lily of the valley. I would almost call this a loud floral. Its not shy. It’s to the point, there’s no mystery as to what flower you’re smelling. No vague “floral notes”. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

This is lilies blooming in a yard of fresh cut grass while clean laundry is drying on the breeze in the sun. Ultimate spring scent. Very well done clean floral. I grew up on a farm where the above mentioned scenario was reality and I’m remembering myself sitting on the lawn in the breeze and sunshine, picking at the grass, watching my mother with the laundry, and smelling sweet flowers on the breeze mixed with the fresh laundry. And remembering my beautiful mother. For nostalgic reason alone, I will be purchasing this scent. I almost can’t stop smelling it because I love the memory it brings so much. Very very realistic scent. Dare I say a perfect scent? I do.

This fragrance lives up to it’s name. It’s a light, floral fragrance…very easy to wear. It would be perfect for the office. Although I prefer heavier fragrances, this one is very nice. For people that prefer a scent that is not overwhelming, this is certainly a winner.

I did not care for this fragrance the first time I tried it. Tried it again for some reason and now it is one of my favorites. Soft, feminine and understated. Delicate and inoffensive. With that said, it still stands out as unique, but not wired. I love it!

Loving green florals, this is a nice, light, springtime scent, perfect to perk up the winter. A welcome change from most of the heavy Florientals that abound this time of year. That being being said, I can’t understand the concept of it “revolving around the city of New York”. Not too many green floral scents in the air here!

  33. :

This is a pretty floral, though I don’t get much ‘green’ from it. I love lily of the valley, and it is certainly there, but the magnolia presents more strongly on me. I don’t get the linden at all. The initial spray was a blast of white florals which reminded me very much of Outremer’s Fleurs Blanches. It did settle down quickly, and became more wearable for me. I will try it a few more times, but based on my initial impression, I doubt I will purchase a FB.

I am so disappointed with Walk On Air because I really enjoy Live Color Fully. I’d never been a fan of Kate Spade fragrances but Live Color Fully was a wonderful surprise. Walk on Air is really unpleasant to me. Generally I don’t like Lily of the Valley scents, but I absolutely love Linden, so this was worth a try. It’s not a bad formulation, or low quality, or anything like that…it simply doesn’t appeal to me. On my skin it’s harsh, and it has a note that smells like a solvent in furniture polish. Another reviewer says this reminds her of pulling weeds…I so get that, as well! Personally, I wouldn’t use this scent in a hand soap, so I definitely wouldn’t wear it as my fragrance.

Mix 80% Coach’s Poppy Flower with 20% Donna Karan’s Be Delicious.
Viola … Walk on Air !
This perfume should have been called,
    “Walk On Delicious Poppies”
    I am not a fan.

  38. :

Lily of the Valley and yellow pollen. Linear, simple, frankly boring. It smells like a body splash rather than a perfume. That being said, this could be good for younger folks in hot climates. It’s simple enough to wear well in sultry weather.

  39. :

    5 out of 5

An absolutely thoughtless fragrance. Marketing at it’s best, or should I say worst. Opens up with a punch in the face of rubbing alchohol. Softens up to something so green and sharp, that it reminds me of pulling weeds. I usually love green florals. This is a total miss. For the price (which isn’t cheap) you get a gimmicky bottle and soemthing that lasts about 20 minutes. Thankfully, becuase I would not want to smell like this for long. Will never be even close to a classic. Trendy and boring and dull.

Beautifully blended citrus/floral. Perfect for spring. When I first tested it I must admit I thought, this is pretty but it won’t last longer than an hour. Happy to say it surprised me. I got about four good hours out of it. I would buy it.

  41. :

I like this, nice green scent, fresh, floral, I don’t find it synthetic, it is well constructed, it is overall quite light, but longevity is not bad at all!!it makes me thing of spring fields, on a warm day..do not overspray as it could easily get sharp
    A bit of Daisy too…
    Lovely!!

  42. :

    4 out of 5

I like the scent so far…it’s okay. It’s very light, a bit citric, tart, fresh floral, not overwhelming. It kind of reminds me of DKNY Be Delicious. This is not a special scent but might make a good clean flowery fragrance for the spring and summer.

  43. :

Light, fresh, green, floral. Love this. Reminds me of Dot by Marc Jacobs, but Walk on Air is a bit more floral.

  44. :

If you are a fan of green florals, this is for you. Walk on Air is a light springy fragrance, definitely ideal for day wear. I get a lot of orange blossom and lime blossom on my skin, both of which I hate. That being said, this ideal for someone who loves smelling the green parts of a flower in a fragrance.
