vie privée starts off as a light ylang-ylang and freesia scent on me.
i cant sniff any roses or white flowers at all until it dries down on my skin and developes into some kind of sweet red candy scent. i think the orange blossoms and the rose its what makes it so syrupy. the ylang-ylang fades but still stays strong enough to prevent vie privée from becoming too sweet and the freesia keeps the scent fresh. after about 30 minutes i can finally detect the sandalwood.
i would say that the freesia is the strongest note and turns this into a juicy floriental on me. i wish vie privée lasted longer but my dry skin just drinks this juice up.
vie privée is a gorgeous scent and i will wear it a lot this winter but i will probably not repurchase because its too weak on me, however it did help me discover my love for freesia so im still happy i got it. definitely worth a try if you find a bottle.

Not the same fragrance as the original Vie Privée…

This may have been released in 2007; but here in America we got it in 2008, so I always call it the 08 re-release…
This scent is a very nice floral scent; but not anywhere as crisp, green or springlike as the original (vintage) version. It is warmer and more like summer than it is spring.
It opens with the dry powdery sweet orange blossom and a very warm and full ylang ylang, replacing the narcissus of the original. This is very dry and beautiful on first application (we only had the 50 ml EDP with the crystalline-like dobber cap), but does not move me like the original did. The heart is very smooth and sexy with sensual jasmine, rich rose and one of my new favorite flowers: freesia. A very flower shoppe/bouquet type scent, that reminds one of summertime or falling in love. This is very full and rich, where the original was more airy and crisp with floral and green nuances. The drydown is much woodier here with the sandalwood and musk, and because of these heavier basenotes; it does actually last longer than the vintage. The iris root is elegant, smooth and cool giving the ultimate finish a dusty green exhale. Very nice indeed, but I do prefer the original! Others, who favor full florals to floral green scents, might want to search this one out…
    Sillage: good
    Longevity: super
    Overall: 3.5/5
This is one of the scents that actually introduced me to ylang, and for that I like it a great deal; besides the fact it has a great freesia note as well. I have been known to wear this (and have gotten some odd stares…like I care!) though not often. It blooms when it is warm, but if it is hot the florals tend to wilt on me, so I reserve this for an after bath scent in the less humid nights of summer or else sport it in the cooler, but still bright and sunny days of late spring and early summer.
This scent is a delight…Please, DO NOT let my passion for vintage scents from this house keep you from trying this one, as it is something that may be even better on you! 🙂

Thanks again to my wonderful friend Gypsy Purfumemista John and his beautiful mother Linda for giving me such a wonderful scent! This is a beautiful floral scent! Rich in floral and long on life. Very much a spring scent indeed!

I remember it from it’s first time round- for us teenagers it was an epitomy of class, sophistication and being grown up (the vision of having any kind of “privat life” was so tempting;-). A friend’s mother used that, and for w while it was the most refined scent I knew. Wonder what is left of original formulation…

Notes on the Classic Vie Privee:
A floral-bouquet edt with notes of freesia, narcissus, white lilac, white rose and white iris.

This is a lovely floral. On my skin the white flowers reined in a throne of Sandalwood and Musk. Very good staying power and sillage. The original botle eas also very nice. For me it became boring after a while, being very linear. Good to smell on others persons, since is neutral and non-offensive.

I like this fragrance. I’m not in love with it but I like it. It reminds me of Estee (in a blue box) by Estee Lauder. It’s a scent of a good quality and it might be a little bit more suitable for a mature lady rather than for a young girl.
